Opinions de Butter's BBQ Sinton
Absolutely delicious! Had Brisket, a slab of ribs and 2 links of jalapeño sausage. Unbelievably good Texas BBQ. Brisket was fork tender, smoked to perfection. The sausage was some of the best I’ve ever had visiting BBQ places all over Texas. Ribs were absolutely awesome.
The food is served “while it lasts.” I got there today (Sundays are their busiest day) at around 3:40 or so and the only meat that was left was brisket and ribs (which was what I wanted anyway)! The sides were all gone except the beans. The brisket and ribs were outstanding! The beans were so good that I didn’t even miss the other sides. And their homemade pickles! It’s worth going for those alone! Just kidding but they are VERY good! Plan on going early for the full experience. I haven’t been very good at remembering their hours so this was my first visit. They did not disappoint! The staff that took care of my order were very nice and helpful. I will return! Maybe they’ll eventually extend their hours. With any luck!
Great food! Brisket is 5 star ⭐️ plus
The best bbq in the greater Corpus Christi area! Every piece of meat I tried was excellent. The jalapeño cheese sausage is to die for as well as the brisket. Had an issue with a big order I placed several months ago, but they more than made up for it the second big order I put in. Will continue to eat there when in town.
Pricey but hands down the best BBQ I've had. I had moist brisket, pork ribs, jalapeno cheddar house made sausage. Homemade pickles and onions. Off the chart delicious. Staff is extremely hospitable.
Just tried this hidden gem in Mathis and I was pleasantly surprised. Wonderful place with great staff. Carlos came out and greeted me and my brother and he was a cool guy. Brisket, ribs and turkey was absolutely delicious but a great surprise was the in house jalapeno sausage. Just amazing!! Definitely be back.
The brisket is mouth watering. Try the sausage! The butter bread is yum. It’s worth the drive from Portland every time. The employees are very welcoming.
We drove all the way from Corpus to Sinton just to try this place. I'll definitely be back over and over again. Absolutely worth it!! I got a brisket and sausage sandwich and they put so so much meat on it - I could only eat half. It was amazing! So good! They pickle their own pickles and onions, for me that was one of the best things ever! For a side I got Mexican corn and OMG it was so delicious!! I tried their banana pudding and it was just as good as the sandwich and the corn - I honestly couldn't decide which was my favorite thing. And the customer service was tremendous. We had a woman check with us twice and make sure we were okay with a huge smile on her face. All the guys serving our food we're really nice too. You can tell they really take pride in their food and operation. I'll be telling everyone about this place 😁. Thank you guys so much for everything!!
This barbecue rates at the top of the list. As much as I love Heavy's bbq in Hondo, Tx. I believe Butter's beats them and that's saying alot. The employee at Butter's make you feel like a valued customer. Our server Andrew, did an excellent job waiting on us. Very courteous, and very helpful explaining the menu. The baby back ribs were the best I've ever eaten. Brisket super tender and juicy.
Brisket in the sandwich was flavorful and moist but maybe could have used a toasted bun. Wasn't expecting elote on the menu but it was amazing. Atmosphere wasn't anything to write home about but doesn't matter when the food is great and the staff is nice
Food is GREAT. DELICIOUS! I cannot say it is expensive because ALL good, delicious great flavored BBQ ANYWHERE is going to be expensive. However, it is well worth it. Quantity of food is decent. Sides are served small containers. Service is a top notch "A+"! Just as i walked in i was greed quickly with a "hello" and "we will be right with you". The next rep came up and started explaining everything to me like menu and what comes in it. Then the next rep begun to ask me what sides I'd like. Went down to explain WHAT sides they have and how it is prepared. They begun to pack my TO-GO meal as i walked to cashier. Which also greeted me with the professionalism and the up more respect. I am disabled. Physically & mentally. The two individuals took their time to talk to me and help me with all the items i need. OH OH OH!!! AND I WAS GIVEN A FREE BEER WHEN I FIRST WALKED IN! FFRREEE!!! One per customer. I STRONGLY recommend this restaurant. Pictures is a "3rd Wheel" $78 meal.
Friends told us about this place and I'm glad they did. The brisket is absolutely to die for! Get there early; before they sell out. We were there on a Friday at 11 am sharp and there was a line. There isn't much atmosphere to speak of but that's not what you come here for!
Everything was great. Homemade sausage, pickles, and pickled onions. Wonderful biscuit.
First time here. Exactly what a South Texas bbq shack should be. Screened porch to eat in. Small window to order and get the food. Picnic tables with enough fans to keep from sweating on normal early September day here in South Texas. Moist Brisket was very good, jalapeño cheese sausage is great. Excellent snap with a good course grind that is slightly crumbly. But the absolute standout was the pork ribs. My goodness they were fall off the bone, good peppery bark.
Catching Central Texas BBQ in South Texas. Wonderful! Smoked Barbacoa is a hit! Brisket on point. Sides weren't all pleasant for me but others might like. All meats were fabulous
Family loves this place! Great snap with the sausage, moist and meaty brisket, and fall off the bone ribs. Sides are solid! Hard to find a well-rounded place. These guys excel in all categories.
My son comes to Butters every weekend to eat all the way from CC. From what I was able to eat, it was great. My stomach was just not going to let me eat hardly a bite of everything before I had to excuse myself for the bathroom. If he says it’s great and he comes back here every weekend then I believe it’s a damn good BBQ joint. Besides everyone that was with us cleaned their plates. Also looking at the plates of everyone else in the restaurant it looked so good. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Butters BBQ is a true gem in Sinton, offering some of the best brisket I've ever had the pleasure of tasting. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted by the mouthwatering aroma of slow-smoked meats and the warm hospitality of the staff. Let's talk about the brisket – it's simply divine. Tender, juicy, and packed with flavor, each bite melts in your mouth and leaves you craving more. The perfect balance of smokiness and seasoning makes it a standout dish that keeps me coming back time and time again. But it's not just the brisket that shines at Butters BBQ – the entire menu is filled with delicious options that are sure to satisfy any BBQ lover's cravings. From succulent ribs and savory pulled pork to mouthwatering sides like baked beans and macaroni and cheese, every dish is crafted with care and attention to detail. The atmosphere at Butters BBQ is laid-back and inviting, with cozy seating and friendly staff who make you feel right at home. Whether you're dining in or taking your order to go, you're guaranteed a memorable experience that will have you counting down the days until your next visit.
First time eating here. Had the mini trinity. Jalapeño cheese sausage was good. Better then most I have had. The ribs you can taste the smoke in them, fall off the bone and moist, the brisket was melt in your mouth, tender and juicy. Great job guys. Will be back again.
WOW....we were heading back to S.A. from South Padre and got hungry so checked for places near us and just happened upon this place. We got the mini trinity with brisket, ribs and sausage...holy cow (literally LOL). The brisket was moist and thick cut, the ribs were fall off the bone good, the sausage was so smokey and had a good texture. The BBQ sauce was tangy and peppery, kind of a vinegar style but mixed with a Texas style. The potato salad had a lot of mustard, it was good if you like mustard potato salad ( I prefer a mayo/mustard mix). The coleslaw was odd with pineapple in it, not bad per se just not our cup of tea. They had good indoor seating and friendly staff.
Best brisket around!!!!! Sausage was fabulous. Highly recommend. Thank you to Corpus Christi Harley Davidson for this wonderful recommendation!!!
Been here a few times...but inlaws have been wanting to try. On way up we stopped by to get some for dinner...and some sandwiches for lunch. I was able to sit there and see him chop the brisket and cover with sauce to make the chop beef sandwiches. Mouthwatering! He pulled out and sliced the sausage for my daughter's sandwich. Complete silence in car while the family ate. Was torture waiting for dinner. Boy was it worth the wait! Ordered rice, but we were given beans. They were disappointing. No flavor and beans were little too hard. BUT the macaroni!!! SO good! Pasta was cooked perfectly and dish was not overly cheesy and very creamy! Since this would be the first time for inlaws to eat Butter's, I went for the trinity. I ordered 2 lbs of marbled brisket and 2 lbs of lean brisket. 2 lbs of regular sausage and 1 lb of jalapeño sausage. Finally 1 whole rack of ribs. We got some sides for free. Decided on a pint of rice and pint of macaroni. The brisket was very good. Fork tender and great taste. Ribs were even better. Full of flavor and great pull. But this time for me, the winner was the jalapeño sausage. Many may be disappointed due to lack of heat, but the flavor profile was PHENOMENAL! Many purists may say that you shouldn't need sauce for meat...and you really don't, but the sauce elevated every piece of meat. Butter's...we will see you again soon! ** UPDATE ** 5/28/22 ** Took client who had never been. Order Trinity Platter - brisket, sausage, ribs, 2 sides. Also ordered 1/2 lb of pulled pork and turkey. Turkey was AMAZING. Juicy, tender. Pulled pork was so so...but you can't really sauce as everyone has different preferences. But as everything else... meat was tender. Brisket was pure Heaven! Ribs were fall off bone amd like last time oh so flavorful. Sausage just has great flavor. Beans...totally made up for last time. So good. Will order again. Their potato salad was different. More like a loaded potato. Would have preferred warm.. but thatbis just me. FINALLY got to try their put smoked barbacoa! Mind blowing.... smokey flavor, oh so good. Brought a pound home so wife wouldn't kill me!! Added 5th star for barbacoa and turkey!!
Absolutely delicious! I had the ribs with green beans and pinto beans. The flavors in the ribs was very rich and the melted in my mouth! Eating at butters is definitely a treat. It’s not cheap but the quality of the food is worth the cost. Parking can be tricky because it’s very popular. Go early, because once they sell out, that’s it for the day!
Great bbq, almost in the middle of nowhere. Staff was friendly and willing to talk about their bbq and the other great bbq joints in Texas. Brisket was seasoned perfectly. Fork tender. Sausage had a good flavor, but not great. Ribs were the best. Fall off the bone tender. Sides were also very good. Would go back if I was in the area.
We were on our way back to Houston from the RGV. We had a craving for some good barbecue and this place had a decent rating so we stopped. I am so glad we did. We came pretty late and they had sold out a lot on Labor Day weekend, but we got a pound a brisket and some jalapeño sausage links. This was some of the best BBQ I have ever eaten. My dad was a pitmaster and owned his own barbecue joint for years so I’ve been blessed with good barbecue for most of my life. At one bite, Butter’s transported me back to when I was in college eating with my dad’s at his restaurant. The Brisket literally melted in my mouth. The sausage was perfect, the skin was crispy and the inside wasn’t dense but loose and very flavorful. Do not walk, run to Butter’s! You’ll be glad you did.
Visited this place for lunch and for 3 people bill was about $110. Parking was ridiculous. We arrived about 15 mins before they opened so we got a parking spot. When we entered food smelled great. Portions were plenty. Sides (beans/potato salad) we’re so so. The side of corn was delicious! (See pic below). The meats were moist and tender. Definitely recommend this place for lunch meetings or workplace luncheons or when you aren’t worried about dropping $100 bill at lunch for 3 hungry people. We will definitely return as often as we can afford to.
Butters BBQ has a deserving spot on the Texas Monthly Top 50 List, and is no stranger to the list for that matter. Proteins and sides are the best in the Corpus Christi area in my opinion. There sausage game on the other hand, is among the best in the state!
Some of the best brisket you'll ever have, period. Make the trip, give it a try. You'll love it. Try the barbacoa too! This place was listed in Texas Monthly's Top 50 BBQ spots for a reason. Once you try it, you'll understand why. The amount of detail and love that goes into everything they make in those pits is clear.
I can see why this is one of the top 50 BBQ Joints in Texas. Excellent food. Tip for visiting: I went at lunch and it was too crowded. I came back around 2:30 and was able to get in and served. It's only open Friday, Saturday and Sunday and may sell out before 5.
Brisket was DELICIOUS DEFINITELY TOP TIER. Jalapeno cheddar sausage was good but next time DOUBLE BRISKET. Potato salad and Mexican elote was really good as well. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Got a 2 meat plate with 2 sides and a sweet tea total with tip came to $35.
Was told by a cousin that I needed to stop by Butter's BBQ omw bck to H-Town from the Valley/Mx and mannnnnn I wish I wlda known of this place sooner. Brisket sandwich and plate were both on point. I highly recommend Butter's, if you aren't local.. it's definitely worth the drive. You wnt be disappointed! 🤤😋
This place has really earned its place on The Texas Monthly BBQ top 50 list. It's not much to look at but the food is amazing. The brisket is moist and full of flavor. The sides are good. Tea is served in huge glasses.
Food was fantastic brisket was super soft. Kinda on the pricey side but you get what you pay for
October 2025 update: I had not been to Butter's since their move from Mathis to Sinton. The new building setup is a huge improvement! We had no issues parking or being seated a little before 1:00p.m. on a Sunday. The staff were all helpful and friendly. The food is still fantastic! The meat cutter recommended the Mini Trinity for my wife and I. It included nice portions of brisket, ribs, and sausage. The brisket was good, the ribs were great, the house sausage was good, and the jalapeño cheddar sausage was fantastic! The mini included two sides and we split potato salad and beans. Both were good. We also added barbacoa and elote. Both were excellent! We also got turkey to go, but haven't tried it yet. We had plenty of leftovers, but the jalapeño cheddar sausage and elote was so good that I ordered more to go! It was a little out of our way back to Central Texas, but definitely well worth the detour!!! Great food! We visited at 12:30 afternoon on a Sunday. If you're not a local you need to look closely as you get near, as it has no signage. Look for the pit in the back. I had been told this earlier, so I was prepared. There is plenty of parking once you arrive. There is a drive-thru for to-go orders. We prefer eating inside when we dine out. Butter's basically has a screened-in sitting area with wooden tables. Fortunately the April breeze kept us cool. Once inside, You get in a line that leads to a single window where you order. This is a Texas Monthly Top 50 Barbecue Joint, and there was a continuous line the entire time we were there. However, it was not nearly as long a wait as other top barbecue places we've been to. Unfortunately, if you want a drink refill, you have to wait in the same line again, as drinks are not in the seating area. The food - it was very good! The brisket was very moist and flavorful. The meat fell off the ribs with a tug from my plastic fork! For me the brisket and ribs were worth the drive! I also had the jalapeño cheese sausage. It was was ok. I had also been told the barbacoa tacos were very good, and they certainly were! I had the brisket beans and potato salad as sides (they were out of coleslaw). The beans had good flavor. The potato salad was unique, with a consistency almost like mashes potatoes. You won't see a restroom. Upon asking you are directed to a red door that leads to a single restroom in the work area. It's not very good. This is a hard-core barbecue spot, not a fancy restaurant. The food itself would have gotten a five rating, and the setup lower, thus the four stars. I bought extra brisket and barbacoa tacos, and I'm glad I did. Will I stop again - yes!
All I have to say is WOW!!! The brisket is so juicy and full of flavor! The barbecue sauce is so good too!! The staff were so friendly and welcoming!! We ordered the Trinity and my sister had a chopped beef sandwich!!! If you love barbecue this is a MUST stop!!! Possibly the best brisket I have had till the day. The pickles are home made! The potato salad was on point and so were the brisket beans!!! I, hands down, recommend this place we will definitely be making frequent stops when we travel from Houston to the valley!
"Life is too short for ordinary Review: Butter’s BBQ - Deserving of the Top 50 Title Stepping into Butters BBQ, a true brick-and-mortar establishment, the atmosphere immediately confirmed its reputation. With plenty of indoor seating and a genuine, welcoming BBQ joint vibe, the setting is as comfortable as the staff is enthusiastic. This is clearly a location where the team is passionate about their craft, and their helpfulness in guiding us through the menu was much appreciated. Having secured a coveted spot on the "Texas Monthly Top 50 BBQ" awards list, the question was: did the food live up to the hype? The answer is a resounding yes. The Smoked Meats: A Masterclass in Fire and Smoke The menu offers a tight selection of Texas staples, all executed with precision: • Brisket: The star of the show delivered on nearly every front. It boasted a good tenderness and a beautifully defined smoke ring. While a few outer edges were slightly dry, the overall flavor profile was rich, deep, and satisfying, proving why the brisket is the cornerstone of any great Texas joint. • Pork Ribs: These were exceptionally tender, falling away from the bone without being mushy. The flavor balance was perfect—rich and meaty, thankfully avoiding the overly "hammy" note that can sometimes plague smoked ribs. A solid rib glaze complemented the excellent dry rub flavor, resulting in a perfectly balanced bite. • Jalapeño Cheese Sausage: A standout item. This double-grind sausage had a fantastic consistency and was heavily infused with a nice peppery flavor and well-integrated spices. While a minor note, a bit more cheese would have elevated it further, but the quality of the sausage itself was undeniable. • The Texas Twinkie: A true piece of barbecue artistry. This treat—a large jalapeño stuffed with tender brisket and cream cheese, then wrapped in thick-cut bacon—was executed flawlessly. The preparation was exactly as a Texas Twinkie should be, finished with a beautiful, savory glaze on the bacon that sealed the deal. Elevated Sides The sides were not an afterthought, featuring one truly memorable dish: • Mexican Elote: This was an excellent side dish and a clear elevation of the classic street corn. The careful mixture of flavors, topped with a solid amount of Cotija cheese and a generous squeeze of lime, made this a bright, tangy, and creamy complement to the heavy meats. • Brisket Charro Beans: A comforting and hearty offering. This was a pretty standard preparation of pinto beans, mixed expertly with brisket and onion—a reliable, staple side dish that did its job well. Final Verdict Butter’s BBQ is very deserving of its "Texas Monthly Top 50" position. The meat quality, especially the ribs and the perfect Texas Twinkie, combined with the elevated Elote, solidifies its position as a very solid BBQ joint. We left feeling impressed not only by the food but by the genuinely passionate staff who run the operation. This is a must-visit for any serious barbecue enthusiast.
Heading back to Victoria from SPI and wanted some BBQ enroute. Stopped at Butters, a little off of 77, the slight detour was well worth it. Rack of spare ribs, link sausage, potato salad, and brisket charro beans. Absolutely excellent, just excellent, and I've been smoking meat for 40 years. The only complaint I have is that I live an hour and a half away. Gonna have to triple-up my order next time.
Just had butters for the first time and am more than happy to say that I got more than I paid for. For our poker community that knows these guys, support this excellent business by showing love and ordering alot. The ribs fell off the bone and had a superior flavor to most ribs around texas. Very appreciative for the service I received and will definitely be ordering more, in bulk, in the near future. Thanks gentlemen, my family thoroughly enjoyed yalls food. Jeremy DeVillez
Get your buns over to Butter’s for excellent SouTex BBQ! Casual, very laid back setting in Sinton. Very friendly and helpful staff to answer questions or build the exact meal your taste buds want. Brisket is moist and fork-tender, with perfect smoky bark. Same goes for the ribs, with a slightly sweeter bark. Links seem house-made, not the best ever, but still tasty. Beans actually have nice spicy kick and the elotè corn is sho nuff! Not sure why they’d ever drop off that magazine’s list, but enjoyed the chill local vibe without long lines regardless! Only open Friday-Sunday, but barbacoa will likely bring us back on a Sunday!
I went with my wife and son to eat here and had the Texas plate. It had brisket, ribs, sausage and turkey with three sides. Everything was phenomenal! The brisket was very moist and flavorful with very good bark. I can’t say enough about the ribs sweet and tender. Turkey was very moist. The sausage was very good and flavorful. The sides didn’t disappoint. The beans are my favorite. Big chunks of brisket and great seasonings. Potato salad was very good with just the right amount of seasonings. Elote corn very good. I’ll definitely go back in the future. Well deserving of the Texas Monthly list.
I can't tell you if this is the best in Texas, but I had the brisket and ribs and will tell you that you will not be disappointed. Portion size was decent, not overwhelming. The sides were good, but nothing that made me want to call my momma. Parking is not convenient, you will be lucky to find a spot and might get blocked in, so I wouldn't suggest stopping 20 mins before that job interview. Definitely worth the stop and I will go back again.
If there is barbecue in Heaven, it will taste like this! This place runs out kinda early, so don't hesitate and show up late. I currently live in Kansas,. near Kansas City and there is no barbecue even close to Butter's here in Kansas or Missouri. The moist brisket is what we order when we're down in Texas. Along with succulent baby back ribs, and Jalapeno Cheese sausage. Every bite of everything will make your eyes roll back in your head. It could not possibly be any better! And I'm comparing this against the amazingly great Terry Blacks, which I thought could not be beat. But Butter's is right up there with the top of the top Texas barbecue. It's a hole-in-the-wall location, but it's beyond belief how good it is. Each time I've been here in little old Sinton, Texas, I am blown away by how good everything is. And the people behind the counter are friendly and there to help you. They have the secret rub on the brisket and the ribs. My guess is just the right amount of salt and pepper. And when we got everything to the table, and each of us were fighting over the pieces of brisket we wanted, it was falling apart on the serving fork. I kept going back in for fat! All 6 of us walked out with full belly's and big grins! I will always come back here anytime I'm down on the Texas coast.
Incredible BBQ. I can see why they were rated Top 50 by Texas Monthly. Plus, free Lone Star beer on Saturdays! We showed up on a Saturday at about 10:40am, and there was no line. Their hours are normally 11am to sold out, but they opened the doors early for us. I got a half pound of moist brisket, regular sausage link, and the elote. The brisket had a nice bark and wasn't overly seasoned with salt or pepper. The brisket was moist and juicy. Fell apart easily with a fork. The sausage link was tasty. It was not overly greasy which I liked. Some BBQ joints have some greasy sausages that drip or splatter when cutting or eating. However, these were not dry. Perfect smoke and season balance. The elote was delicious. I have had this dish only a handful of times in my life, so it's difficult to compare it. The wife ordered a sausage sandwich and potato salad which she loved. I would definitely come back here. The staff made us feel welcomed. They answered all of my questions. Only downside was no stamp for the Texas Monthly BBQ passport.
OMG, this place is so amazing! First time here and we got the 3rd wheel, family pack. It came with brisket, sausage, ribs, turkey and three sides (we got brisket beans, elotes and potato salad). I just got my braces tightened the day before and could not chew anything. But, all of the BBQ literally melted in your mouth, it was so soft!!! All of the sides were also delicious! This is by far the best BBQ my family and I have ever eaten!!! Definitely recommend!!!
Holy Smokes ! Butter's Bbq is Amazing. We had such a feast . Tried the Pork Belly and it just melted in our mouths. Brisket was pure perfection. Pork ribs are very tasty. Tater tot casserole was scrumptious. Banana pudding is a must try too. Free cooler of beer on Saturday's. We cannot wait to go back !
Absolutely delicious! Wow! Get there early because they sell out fast. Free Beer Saturdays! The moist brisket is simply amazing! The corn is perfect and the ribs are spot on! The sides are all worth the price of admission! Do the trinity plate its the perfect combo. Seats about 40 people but many customers are taking the food home. Most definitely worth the drive. Best BBQ around Corpus Area... hands down..
My first time here. Service was excellent. Nice folks. I got the four meet deal. Turkey, ribs, brisket and sausage with 2 sides. Ribs were great. Not dry and smothered with any sauce. Turkey was moist and had light smoke taste, maybe from being around the brisket! Brisket was not chewy and firm to the bite. Had a bit too much fat in my order though. I didn't care Forsythe sausage. Just not my flavor i guess. Beans and tater salad were different. Not bad, just not what I like most. But I will sure go back and eat there. I recommend them!
I finally tried Butter's BBQ. I had to deduct 1 star since they are only open Fri , Sat and Sun. But other than that, the brisket was amazing , the ribs and sausage were very good. I also had their beans which had their brisket in them..yum. Their mustered potato salad was good if like potato salad that's heavy on the mustard. The BBQ is a little pricey , but the quality of their BBQ is definitely worth it. I would definitely go back if I'm ever back in Mathis.
Drove 45 minutes for the brisket here on a recommendation. We were not disappointed. Brisket was plastic fork tender and delicious. The ribs just peeled right off the bones. The sausage was a little dry and had a crumbly texture, but it had good flavor.
Stopped for a late lunch while passing through. Like most Texas bbq places once they run out, they are out. They were out of a few things, but still had plenty to order. Only thing I wanted that I missed was the jalapeño sausage. Guy next to me got the last link! I ordered the lean brisket plate. Comes with two sides. A lot of time lean brisket is dry or stringy. Theirs was good. Still juicy with a nice bark. I got some bbq sauce, but didn’t need it. I’m a firm believer good bbq does not need sauce. The sides I chose were elotes and brisket beans. The elotes were fantastic. Full of flavor. Highly recommend trying it. The brisket beans were good, but not flavorful. Tasted like it was only beans and brisket. Made me think of what I call weekday beans. No other seasoning or aromatics. Again, they were good, just lacking. They give you pickles and pickled onions. Not sure if they are house made, but they were great. I would buy jars of these if they sold them. The only thing I can say negatively is the lack of sweet tea. They only had unsweetened which is blasphemy in Texas. Best place in town for a meal.
The hubster and I dropped by to check it out as it's in the top 50 according to Texas Monthly. The customer service was amazing! They offer very large portions as well as free beer every Saturday. Chicken was sold out so we will be back to try it. We ordered marble brisket and it was perfect. It melts in your mouth and was great without the sauce. My husband got the jal chz sausage and he said it was not your traditional one and it was amazing. Tasted like they used smoked pepper jack. It was a nice greasy and not over greasy. The ribs were beautifully glazed, tasted great, and were tender. The brisket beans weren't bad. The potato salad was good however my husband would've preferred less mustard and maybe a little more pepper. I'm picky when it comes to sauce. To me it was ok but my husband said he really liked it. We ordered a jalapeño and they threw in some candied japs that weren't bad at all! They served pickled onions which my husband loved. We will definitely be back!
BBQ Woody here. Thnx for the best bbq yet i hv had in the Coast Bend..someone finally beat Silverado's. I had the 3-meat (turkey, pork ribs, and jal/chz sausage) tray. If u go to this place you hv 2 try the 'Mex Elote cream corn and their Tx beans, zesty..both..yummy. the ribs didnt need any bbq sauce. The turkey was moist and tender. The sausage was a little too soft inside for my taste, but delicious. The bbq sauce is a bit too much ketchuppy for my taste. One of my ribs the meat came rt off the bone but the other was a little tough and slightly undercooked and the meat did not come off the bone. Pork ribs shld shed the meat without having to chew it off. I will find 2 old-fashioned bottle top openers 4 u all and bring on nxt visit.
We visited Butters BBQ on a Saturday for a late lunch and ordered the "3rd Wheel" plate, which included brisket, pork spare ribs, sausage, and turkey, along with three sides: beans, potato salad, and Mexican corn. We also got two teas, one Mexican Coke, and a bag of chips. Our total came to $110, including a 3% credit card fee. Presentation & Meats Everything was plated beautifully and looked appetizing; portion sizes were large for us (two adults, one child, one toddler). The brisket was sliced top-to-bottom into thick slabs, which some people may love. Personally, I prefer the lean and marbled sections sliced with more precision. The bark was seasoned well but had gone soft by the time we ate, which makes sense for a late lunch. The sausage had good flavor, though the casing was a bit tough and had lost some of its snap. The ribs were the standout—fall-off-the-bone tender and still moist. We ended up with the last of the turkey, which was noticeably dried out but again, understandable given the time of day. Sides & Extras The sides were excellent. The beans were packed with flavor, although a little heavy on the pepper. The potato salad was a near-perfect mustard-based version with a nice balance of creaminess and tang. I appreciated that they left some potato skin in the mix, even though I know that’s not for everyone. The Mexican corn was great—at least the bites that didn’t have fresh cilantro, which I tend to avoid. Trimmings included a tangy BBQ sauce that reminded me of A1 in its acidity, along with what appear to be homemade dill pickles and pink pickled onions. All were solid complements. Drinks & Atmosphere My unsweet tea was fresh and tasted clean. At $3.50, you get one free refill. Seating is limited, but it seemed like most customers were ordering to-go. The space felt casual and comfortable. Service was friendly and efficient. Final Thoughts Butters BBQ is a Texas Monthly Top 50 joint, and I can see why. They do the basics well, and their sides are a strong highlight. That said, aside from the pork ribs and sides, most of the meats tasted like standard Texas BBQ—solid, but not groundbreaking. I’d happily eat here again if I’m in Sinton, but I wouldn’t go too far out of my way to make a special trip just for Butters.
Our 92nd 'cue stop in the Lone Star state, and the 382nd nationwide, brought us to one of the 2021 Texas Monthly 50 Best BBQ Joints that's been on our radar for a few years now. Service might most charitably be described as businesslike, and at $43.89 we judged a 3 meat (brisket, turkey, jalapeno cheese sausage), 2 side (elote, brisket beans) plate to be overpriced. The turkey was excellent-- well smoked, moist and tender, and the sausage had good flavor as well. The fatty end of the brisket featured a traditional central Texas rub, but while moist and tender, the flavor of the meat ran to the roast beef side of the spectrum. The sides were a hit (top notch elote) and a miss (so so brisket beans). In sum, we would dine here again if passing through town at lunch hour, but we would not go out of our way to pay a visit.
The sausage was great, which is why I'm giving a 4 star review to what should have otherwise been a 3. The brisket was okay. Out of a pound and a half I had a couple of slices that were pretty dang good. But most of it was just mid. I really wanted to like this place. Like I said the sausage was fantastic, but that don't make a BBQ joint. And what was wrong with plain ole pickles and onions on BBQ? I don't need some silly pickled onions with barely pickled cucumbers on my Texas BBQ. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Waited for months to try this place out and I guess we just came at the wrong time or just got the bad plate . This was the 3 meat plate for almost 40 bucks ! The ribs were great and great flavor but really no brisket and what we did get was all fat and elote was dry and not much flavor the beans not that great either way to salty the bbq sauce is good the sausage was ok . My plate compared to others posted on here just doesn’t even look that great
Came for Fathers day meal. My wife and I are knocking out the TM top 50 bbq spots, and this was our first stop. Got there at 1030 from Corpus Christi. Tried to order a dino rib but was told they had none available since people ordering togo had taken them all. Apparently there is a call and hold system we weren't aware of. Lady running the sides was not very friendly and had a unpleasant demeanor. Anyways, we got the 4 meat family meal, barbacoa, and a ribeye steak special for about 140. The food was good but not special. The meats were cooked fine but not very flavorful. Sausage was on the dry side. The best item were the ribs, very good flavor and had a great bite. The ribeye was highway robbery. Not worth $38. The sides had great presentation but not much flavor. I would not make the drive to eat there again unless my family in Corpus wanted to go. My sister loves this place. Dropping one star due to customer service was lacking and togo orders taking priority over dine in. Dropping another star over overpriced bbq.
was looking foward to some great brisket but was disappointed. the food was average at best , the meat had a nice smoked flavor but the meat has little to no spices . I prefer a nice rub on my meat. also it had very little bark on the meat. I also had potato salad that tasted like store bought not impressed
I decided to travel over an hour to visit Butters. Before making the trip, I read their Facebook post, which stated that they were open on Sundays until they sold out. I arrived for the first time on 03/16/25 at 3:15 PM, and the experience was disappointing from the moment I walked in. The men serving the food—cutting the meat—had zero customer service. Not only was I not greeted, but it was obvious that their priority was to rush customers out rather than provide a welcoming experience. Their attitude made it clear they were more focused on leaving than actually serving. As I sat down to eat, a woman started putting up chairs and cleaning tables, signaling that they were closing. I felt rushed and uncomfortable, as if I was an inconvenience for simply dining in. At the same time, another customer approached the restaurant but hesitated at the door. Through the glass, she could see the staff packing up, unsure if they were even still open. It was clear she was debating whether to walk in at all. When she finally did, the man cutting the meat told her they still had brisket and sausage—so they were, in fact, still serving. Yet, based on how the staff was acting, it was easy to assume otherwise. If a business is still serving food, customers should not be made to feel like they’re intruding. The lack of professionalism and hospitality here was unacceptable, and I won’t be returning.
Got 1 because I had to to leave review this place sucks charged me $16 for chopped bbq sandwich nothing but burnt meat never go there again ripping people off because weightlifting competition not right
⭐☆☆☆☆ I can’t believe how awful our experience was at a so-called Texas Monthly Top 50 BBQ place. The food was nothing special — I’ve had way better — but what really broke my heart was how they treated my son. Our 3-year-old, who has a head injury and speech delay, was happily eating and made a few excited noises. Instead of kindness, a staff member mocked him, and others laughed. Grown adults making fun of a child with a disability — absolutely disgusting. We walked in expecting good BBQ and some Texas hospitality. We walked out sick to our stomachs. No child deserves that kind of treatment.
