This is THE place that everyone in my family agrees on for a great meal. Casual Texas Steakhouse atmosphere. Full menu, big potions and good prices. You won't be able to put down the buttered rolls!

Easy to find with Google maps. I got a steak. My steak was prepared extremely well. The taste was great and steak was tender. My wife got a small chicken fried steak. It was pretty large. She said that it had a real good taste. The service was great. Next time I come to this area, I will return.

Today was my birthday, and our waitress Misty (with the red hair) made it even more special! She was incredibly sweet, very attentive, and super helpful. She made sure our drinks were always full—without us having to ask even once! Great place for steaks! Mushroom appetizer was good. I’d definitely come back for another steak! Prices are more than reasonable! I loved that there was a mix of clientele. Service was interesting since it seemed like the servers didn’t have sections but had to pick up tables randomly all over the restaurant. Definitely don’t order the potato skins (lacked flavor except for the copious amounts of cheese) or the grilled shrimp (undercooked).

I HAD chicken fried chicken. It was so delicious crispy, flavourful, even though it was floating in the best gravy ever! 😋 this was our first time here, and they didn't disappoint 👏. Our server was very knowledgeable, nice, and attentive!

We try to stop here every time we head to the coast. The wings are delicious and very saucy! We tried the dynamite shrimp app, which was very good - nice and crispy with sauce served on the side. The kids meal portions are huge, so keep that in mind if ordering for younger children (our 2 kids probably could have shared). Service is always top notch!

Can't say anything less than phenomenal. My boys are picky eaters and they finished off 2 orders of spaghetti each and a desert. Ms Joann T was an absolute blessing and super kind. I read reviews and it was right by our hotel we were staying at. I had the chips and queso and my daughter had potato skins for appetizers. Both were excellent. I had steak in picture and daughter had smaller one with the shrimp salad and rolls and drinks all for 53$ steaks were cooked perfect and were very good. Great food. Good service. The soups and salad dressings are homemade family recipes. The service is a little faster that average. I don't eat steak at seafood places and I done seafood at steak houses. A1 is the exception. I love their stuffed flounder and flounder Nueces Bay. Their stuffed mushrooms are very good. The owner has a sign out front about customer service. It is clear that they believe in taking care of the customer.

Great menu, excellent food and a friendly efficient staff. We went on Thanksgiving and were not disappointed! The turkey dinner special was wonderful! We have been here many times. The quality of the food is always excellent. Monday through Friday they have Happy Hour specials on drinks and appetizers. Very reasonable prices.

From the Linen, not paper napkins, Marvelous Margarita's, absolutely awesome appetizers, Fantastic Fried Catfish, Scrumptious Shrimp.... it's all pallet pleasing! Very popular place. Plenty of parking and plenty of seating. Daily specials are listed when you walk in. They have many different menu choices including fish. We enjoyed our lunch so much that we went back for dinner. The dinner specials were different from lunch. They offered 5 different kinds of cheesecake for dessert, but unfortunately, not any fruit pies(I was really looking forward to a peach cobbler 😀 )

Let me preface by stating I am an extremely picky eater; I only eat certain foods at restaurants i.e. chicken alfredo and chicken fried chicken. Our server, Sydney, provided exceptional customer service by consistently attending to our table (always topped off our drinks, asking if our meal was to standard, engaged in conversation). Even the guy that served us our entrées was very courtous and precise. The entire atmosphere was very welcoming and left a homely impression and the timing of both the waitstaff and chefs were expeditious. We ordered 3 entrées: chicken alfredo, chicken fried chicken, and the 12oz NY strip. Each dish served was flavorful, and exceeded expectation. Thank you for the wonderful experience to Sydney especially, and the chefs, we will be returning! 10/10

My Family of four adults tried this restaurant tonight in Portland TX. and are 100% impressed. It was clean, welcoming, fun, great prices, generous to perfect food portions and the staff was amazing. We had four different dishes and everyone loved each one and cooked perfectly. Our server was Dimitri. He was was awesome, prompt, friendly, attentive and provided great service and went above and beyond to make our experience memorable. He is a shining example of great customer service and nice person. Thanks Dimitri. We will for sure be back and look forward to trying more dishes. We highly recommend this place.

We had driven seven hours to go on vacation at Port Aransas and was looking for something along the way to find to eat dinner before we set off to our rental house. Wasn’t sure what to expect as far as quality of food because it didn’t look like a lot from the outside, but the steak melted in your mouth. It was cooked, wonderfully, we had medium rare, And it was easy to cut, and we finished everything on our plates from pasta to pork chops to steaks. Everyone absolutely loved their food and the prices were great for what you got.

Service was top tier! Server was super sweet she got my Cesar out quickly after I order my entree. Which was BBQ Ribs, clam chowder, and a Caesar salad. The salad dressing was so good and I love that the salad came with a pepperoncini on top! The clam chowder was good no complaints. But the ribs were HUGE and I only got a half rack! All that for only $15 is a steal! I also ordered some desserts Togo which was a blueberry cheesecake and a carrot cake slice. They were both so good I recommend them both!

The food was great! The server was awesome. He was very attentive and friendly, which made our first trip to this restaurant very pleasant. My steak was good just as I requested it, medium rare, but my wife’s was slightly overcooked, but even with that, it was still juice, tender, and had plenty of flavor. Gave this place a try during a business trip. We went in during to off time between lunch and dinner. We ordered the onion ring appetizer. They were great. Crispy and seasoned well. I didn’t care for the ranch dip that came with them. For the meals we ordered the sirloin steak sandwich. They were good and huge. More than I could eat. Had to get a to-go box. Service was also very good, especially during the off period. Our drinks never ran out. I ate too fast to take a photo of the sandwich.

The plating was terrible and I could have sworn it said the steak was 10oz but it was really good.

Went for dinner, food was fresh and good. Appetizer sampler is small in my opinion, good though. Had catfish, quite tasty, my husband had sirloin with gravy, claims it was very good. Baked potatoes were excellent, great server.

Overall nothing's complain about the chicken fried steak was pretty good the fish platter was good service I have to say was outstanding. Not crazy prices for lunch. All together spend about 50 bucks on two people which is pretty tip go for this type of a place.

Our meal was great and so was our server. The only problem I had here was with our appetizer, the stuffed jalepenos. The cream cheese inside was cold, they tasted like frozen store bought then they served it with marinara sauce which I though was odd.

This was good eats. Ribeye Steak. Fried shrimp. String Beans. Dinner roll with a butter, cinnamon something to put on it, ( Be careful, U need only a LITTLE ) It's mad sweet. Other dish was Sirloin Steak, Quail Fried Okra Wedding soup ALL was delicious. We will return.

Rib eye and sides were decent, fairly good... Please ask for a fresh bottle of A1 steak sauce. They gave me A1 steak sauce and it had other things added to it... I know my steak sauce. I was visiting my gma here, & I was coming from San Antonio. She said this place was really good. Luckily at the time we went it was not busy at all & we got seated right away. Our waitress was so kind to everyone and so patient. I forgot her name 😭. Anyways, we all ordered and I ordered a half slab of ribs with corn and a baked potato. My food wasn’t too bad. My boyfriend on the other hand said otherwise. He got the chicken fried steak with green beans and loaded mashed potatoes. He said the chicken fries steak tastes microwaved. Food and drink came out quickly. Staff was busy bussing and resetting tables as customers quickly took the place of those that had finished eating and left. I ordered a 10 ounce ribeye with asparagus and a side salad. The salad was pretty average. The asparagus was grilled? Anyway kind of crispy but good. My steak seemed more medium than medium rare as ordered. But it was tender, flavorful and very good, The price was economical at $37 before tip with a $7 mixed drink. For the price I think this is a good option in the area and would eat here again.

Flounder Nueces Bay was good. The flounder itself was very good, the "pecan four" and "wine butter sauce" was okay. Not that I wouldn't order the dish again or deter anyone else from ordering it, but think I would prefer the grilled flounder or possibly the stuffed flounder. The dinner salad and green beans were both very good. Nice interior and service was spot on. I will return again to try some of the other things on the menu, for sure one of their steaks.

I ordered the steak and shrimp. The shrimp were fine, but the steak was raw. I ordered it medium. Hmm. I waited for the waitress to return to check on us but she never returned. Finally, I got up in search of our missing waitress and found her hanging out with the other wait staff at their wait station. We also needed refills on our drinks. After all the hoopla, we ate our meals. I found the food a bit on the salty side for my taste. Definitely won't be back.

My wife and I enjoy the Texas A1 as our go-to on holidays. They are open every day of the year besides super bowl Sunday. We ran into a bit of a snag this Thanksgiving... I made a phone call at 2:10 to confirm that they would be open. I explained to the lady answering the phone the reason for the call before making the trip from Rockport. Upon arrival at 2:48, I was met at the door with an explanation that they were closing. I let them know that I called before leaving Rockport and was told they were open. The gentleman directed us to the bar under the circumstances at which time kitchen staff began to come out from the back and tell the bartender that they were done. The person that answered the phone did not explain that they would be closing at 3:00, the open sign was still lit and this was not my most pleasant experience at this restaurant... Booo 👎🏼

Picked up an online order to go: hostess was courteous, warm and friendly. Found a long black hair in the salad. Called the restaurant and spoke with hostess, who was very apologetic. She put her manager on who offered another salad. No compensation offered. I finally got him to at least refund the $3 add-on to the salad sides. Also, meat was tough and overcooked from medium rare.

I was not at all impressed with this place. It's overpriced and the food is not all that good. There are far better places to eat in the area than this place.

We had a group of 9 and out of 8 dishes served, 5 of them were only semi warm. I don't like paying for nearly cold food, especially not a steak. To top it off my husband's steak was overcooked. The service was decent but our server thought the green beans didn't have onions and they did, so that was unfortunate, especially because we asked before ordering. We expected more when paying almost $200 for our group.

Hamburger steak to Salty mashed potatoes cold I told waitress and husband's Fry's were cold we enjoy this place but tired of cold or very Salty food

Do not go here they do not know what kind of fish they are serving, yes the service is fast but at what cost, there should be a red flag when it takes less than ten minutes fir your fish and chicke…

We are so disappointed. We’ve eaten here several times, but they recently changed their menu and their corporate atmosphere. It’s completely about nickel and diming the customer now. They charge for credit cards and charge for side salad and charge for loaded baked potato (but no where listed in the menu that there is a difference between plain and loaded). Our waiter was wonderful and you could tell she was embarrassed by the changes. We paid cash and probably won’t visit as often. The food is good but the attitude of the owners is unacceptable for us.

Update 9-5-2021 Well, I sincerely hate to post about our dining experience today but this is the second time we've experienced a horribly thin, unevenly cut and improperly cooked ribeye. As my earlier review details, we had a fantastic experience on my wife's birthday 8-15-2021 but have yet to have a similar experience since. I ordered the 16oz ribeye, medium rare, which is $27.99. Since this is the second time that my order has been so poorly prepared, I ask the manager to come over and take a look at my steak. He looked at the steak, (pics attached), said sorry yet offered nothing. I really enjoy the catfish, burgers are great and beer is cold but I cannot recommend the ribeye at all unless you like medium/medium well and about a 3/8" cut. Hope they can offer the experience we first again one day but for now, I'm going to quit ordering steaks. 8-15-2021 Fantastic dinner this evening! My wife ordered the filet and I ordered the ribeye, both medium rare cooked perfectly. Our server, Karlie, was spot on and very pleasant. Rare to receive good service anymore. Beer was cold, steaks were great, what more could you ask for? Thanks A-1 !!!

Not good at all, steak dry and hard I left more than half.... restrooms dirty...and waitress not to kind.

This was honestly one of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve ever had. Our server wasn’t exactly rude, but she clearly didn’t know what the hell she was doing — maybe it was her first day, I don’t know — but it was a mess from start to finish. No silverware, no napkins, no condiments. We had to *get up* and ask multiple people for the bare minimum. She got my drink wrong, my food wrong, and they were out of multiple items — including a baked potato I actually got *charged for*, even though they didn’t have it. And to make it worse, tables that were seated *after* us were getting complimentary bread like it was nothing. We got nothing. The green beans were disgusting — mushy, flavorless, just nasty. And to top it all off, we told her we were splitting the check, and she just went ahead and charged the entire thing to one card anyway. Like… what? (Accidentally I guess?) I still tipped because I get it — people have rough days — but the whole experience was just bizarre. I don’t want to make assumptions, but the vibe was off. I genuinely felt like there might’ve been some homophobia going on. It was uncomfortable in a way I can’t explain, like we weren’t welcome from the second we walked in. Would never go back. They need to do better — with training, with service, with basic decency. And I paid over 150 for the whole meal.LOL.

Got to restaurant at 944 was told they didn’t see anybody after that you know the sign on the door says it closes at 10. We’ve been driving for quite a while. My wife has a medical condition. I just taken her medicine that requires to eat pretty soon after or very sick was just rudely told They wouldn’t serve no more so now I’m trying to make it somewhere else so my wife can eat before her medicine starts tearing her belly up. They need to put sign on door that says don’t come in after 940 or so because we will make up any excuse, we can not to let you eat, but I heard the food was good. I have heard that the service has dipped quite a bit. my family lives in the area and has for a long time they used to recommend it, but now they’re starting to say about how service and some of the younger people are starting to work there just have poor attitudes. I don’t know Not a good experience.

I cook steaks almost everyday, mostly ribeyes and some ny strips as per my carnivore diet, I ordered a 16oz ribeye at 40$ and most of it was pure fat.either it was an old cut or a really really cheap cut but it was pure disappointment. I ordered a side of Mac and cheese and it literally was just kraft Mac.the miss ordered mushrooms on her steak and she loves mushrooms. One bite and I knew something was wrong with them. She couldn’t finish her meal. We aren’t the type of people to make a mess and send food back or ask to speak to the manager. As we both worked in the food industry before so we know how things are. So we just dealt with it and won’t be back. Word of mouth of our experience. I mean. Paying 100$ for a two I really expect actual pasta and not something out of the microwave. We ordered two draft beers that came out at room temp. Glass wasn’t chilled or anything. Hard to push myself to finish it and order a water instead. Trying to stay nice to the wait staff as they aren’t the ones cooking but still upset at my bill for what I got. I don’t mind paying top dollar for food but I expect top dollar quality. I rather have just gone to Logan’s for what I got here. Very disappointed for my money after coming here tonight. Save yourself some money and don’t come here as a out of town person

Steak was 75% fat, service was okay, 3% cc charge, up charge for a salad? You are already charging 40$ for a terrible cut of meat. Won't be back.

Customer service was terrible. Our server never checked on us ( we were a big group) and other servers had to get our refills and other requests. They were out of bread and other items we ordered, so our server offered us soup crackers as a comp. When we walked out we told the manager it was a bad experience overall and but didn't seem to care. Will not go back.

After 15+ years in the restaurant industry and a couple years traveling around as a surveyor and eating at MANY steakhouses I can honestly say this was the worst steak ive ever had. Service was great dont get me wrong but after spending a half hour trying to cut a medium rare steak and seeing rare, medium rare, medium, and well done all in one steak I can honestly say I dont recommend

Food looked great but chopped steak was supposed to be med. well it was rare, my steak supposed to be medium, was rare and my grandsons magi magi wasn't cooked all the way. Waitress didn't come back until we were not satisfied. She just said sorry and walked off bringing us the bill for 3 meals that weren't eaten. Didn't want to upset my son he was paying and was my grandsons birthday. So just left..with a cook that under cook's food and a waitress that doesn't care if we got to eat or not, won't be going back or recommending. Like I said looks great but raw is not editable..
