Great find for a late Sunday lunch. Lovely beef roast with trimmings. Arrived at 5.30pm and they managed to find me a table. Last food orders is 6pm, but it was very busy so I would book if there is more than a couple of you. Lovely atmosphere and very attentive service. Had a couple of real ales on the hand pumps and I had a lovely pint of pale ale I can't remember the name of.

What a superb place to eat! Eat either inside, outside in a private hut, or in the Tipi! However, the star of the show is the food. I'd read reviews, it had been recommended, but nothing prepared me for just how good the food was! I had the baked mushrooms with crab, and then the seabass and was blown away by both of them. Outstanding. I'm sure we will be back, as we are planning on returning to where we are staying locally at some point!

The Drovers have worked hard to create a lovely outdoor space that is comfortable and ambient. The staff are plentiful, friendly and working hard to provide excellent service and delicious food. We visited for lunch in September 2024. Great to finally find a pub serving food on a Monday! Delicious food too. My daughter had the fish butty. Beautiful fish in a bun. Tartar sauce on the side. I had the chicken gyro. Fresh, tasty and plentiful chicken. Both dishes were served with a gorgeous, home made coleslaw. We arrived late for food service but were made to feel very welcome and even offered dessert. Our dogs were given a bowl of water each and also made to feel most welcome. Many thanks Drovers Team!

Arrived with our friends on a carriage driving day in the grounds of Escrick Estate, Skipwith nature reserve and surrounding farm land. Grand day out and a planned visit to the Drovers was topped off by very helpful staff, particularly in the kitchen where our food choices arrived in boxes rather than plates and some carrots for our ponies. We also learned that the Drovers had been the place of our friends first date 🥰🥰 who knew!!!

Would highly recommend this lovely little gem of a place! We were warmly welcomed in, staff were super friendly and attentive, food was amazing! Lovely little touch of a happy birthday pudding and a birthday card to finish off a perfect lunch! Thank you so much to the team at The Drovers Arms!!!

It was a last minute booking after the disappointing news that the hotel we were staying at nearby could not accommodate us in their restaurant. I went by others ‘ reviews and the Drovers Arms did not disappoint. The service was friendly, efficient and professional and the food delicious. We were celebrating a surprise engagement and it made the event memorable.

We had a lovely meal last night for my dads birthday. All the staff were friendly & helpful. Service was brilliant & the food was gorgeous with generous portion sizes. The pub is lovely with a log burning fire & a lovely atmosphere. Really enjoyed our meal & said we will definitely return.

We were here from Essex and literally googled best restaurants near us and this came up, so we booked and it was so nice! The food was honestly the best pub food I’ve ever had! My girls got the chicken breast chunks and they were so delicious too. Portion sizes are HUGE and really worth the money I believe. It’s a shame we’re 4 hours away because we would come back! Thank you!

This is my new favourite lunch venue. The food is the best in the area, fast service..Big difference from other places is the staff are so smartly dressed. The pub is astounding .. We sat in the teepee as it was a warm Sunday. Thank you for an excellent meal.

First time at the Drovers, what a amazing place not only is it a delightful place with beautiful outside seeing areas and immaculate interior decor. The whole dining experience was sublime, the menu is varied and exiting. The food was to die for. Presentation was delightful and service was top notch, while not cheap the attention to detail and the warm and friendly atmosphere made every penny well spent, we will be back very soon and will be recommending the Drovers to all. A big thank you to all the staff that made it a truly memorable experience. Top marks to all, keap it up.

This was my first visit, and though it’s a bit off the beaten path with back roads and lots of winding turns, it leads you to a cozy pub. Parking is located at the back, so just be mindful to choose the correct lane for entry and exit—it’s not clearly signposted, though to be fair, I arrived after dark. Once inside, we were warmly greeted by the friendly staff. The pub was quite busy, and we found a table tucked away near the bar. The spot was a bit chilly, as it was close to the main entrance, and the door sometimes stuck on the thick rug, so people didn’t always close it behind them. Our waiter was very friendly—perhaps a touch overly enthusiastic, but still pleasant. The food was fantastic. I started with the goat cheese with honey and roasted pumpkin seeds, while my wife ordered the garlic bread. Both were delicious. For our main courses, we had the meat pie with Yorkshire blue cheese and a gourmet burger, both of which were excellent. We were too full for dessert as the portions were generous. Overall, we really enjoyed the food, and the staff made us feel very welcome. I would have loved to see a roaring fire or maybe a few more rustic touches, and the waiter did state the fire would be set up soon once it had been cleaned, but it was still a lovely experience. I’d gladly come back and recommend it to others.

We were on holiday and looked up the nearest pub to where we were staying. How lucky were we! We have a large dog, so we had to check it was dog friendly, and it certainly was. The staff were lovely they made us feel very welcome, and we're really happy and helpful. Their names were Kyle and Dani they were so welcoming that we returned the following evening. Beautiful pub inside, warm and clean, lovely log fire. Garden and large car park. They gave Teddy (our dog) water and treats he loved it there. I will recommend this pub to all our friends and family. The food was lovely and reasonable prices 👌

Our first visit this evening and we were very impressed! We took our little girl for an early birthday treat and she was over the moon when they gave her a birthday card and brought out a little birthday dessert! Food was amazing and service was excellent! Will be back very soon!

First visit and already decided we must return. Absolutely delicious and quality of food amazing. Cannot wait to return. Thankyou Matt for getting us in last minute.

A roadside pub in a small village with adequate parking around the back - be careful not to miss the turning into the car park (on the right of the building when facing it from the road). The welcome was smiley and friendly, the atmosphere was quiet at first when we arrived for lunch at 12:30 but got busy a little later, and there was a nice buzz. The popularity of the place testifies to its standards. There was an extensive a la carte menu, and an excellent set price lunch menu from which we chose. The food was quickly served, very well presented and tasty. Certainly a place to revisit.

Me and my partner have travelled from Durham as we were staying at Yellowtop. We were looking for a lovely little location for a perfect date night and Drovers, you did not disappoint! The food was amazing and the service was even better (you don’t get that in the north east)! Josie was especially amazing and made our visit very special. The atmosphere was beautiful with the dim lights, the fire and the music. Perfect location and even better service + food! Will be back again :) Thank you!

The Drover Arms is a charming pub located in Skipwith just outside of Selby. While the atmosphere is certainly inviting, the real question is: how does the food measure up? On my recent visit, I found the food to be a solid offering and quite impressive. The menu offers a good range for everyone. I opted for the classic burger and a side of onion rings. It was cooked perfectly and well-presented. My partner was pleased as there were quite a few GLUTEN FREE options to choose from, don't get that at many places these days The Service was friendly and prompt, Overall, I'd recommend the Drover Arms for a satisfying and enjoyable well-priced meal. I'd definitely return

Absolutely fantastic visit to the Drovers Arms after a recommendation. Well, I'll pay that recommendation forward! we'd heard about the 'Bloody Mary prawn cocktail' and the Steak Sharer for 2, so guess what we tried ? ... neither disappointed, but the Absolute highlight was the Steak sharer with its Blue cheese sauce!!! WOW I'll be dreaming about that 'til my next visit :)

Dani was my server, from entering the front door she was incredibly attentive and friendly. The food was lovely, I had the lamb leg and chocolate sponge cake. I will definitely be visiting again, top jonotch service and food!

It was a good roast, you do need to ask for extra gravy as when it comes out there’s not much. It wasn’t very hot when served. The beef was sold out but at 18.30 I suppose you run that risk so I opted for the turkey which was cooked well and wasn’t dry.

Called in here on Saturday after spending the morning in the area and looking for somewhere to eat. We were not disappointed from the moment we walked through the door, despite not booking a table we were seated immediately in a nice cosy corner of the restaurant. The service was impeccable throughout our visit the staff were always attentive and not in a pushy way. When the food arrived it was beyond expectations the care and effort that had gone into the preparation, cooking and presentation or the food was second to none and the taste was out of this world. We will definitely be back again soon and would definitely recommend.

Cracking meal! Welcoming & comfortable eating area (we sat in “bar” as dog was with us). Very generous portions - all exceptional! Enjoyed by all. Recommended highly!

Stayed in the area and was recommended by previous reviews where we stayed and didn’t disappoint. Easy to book online, plenty of parking, great menu options, quick service, large servings, best roast I’ve had out the meat was delicious and extremely tender, beautifully decorated, appeared very clean, and huge bonus dog friendly.

We came to the Drovers to try the Steak Sharing Board which has had rave reviews! As soon as we walked in the staff were attentive, welcoming and so so friendly! The atmosphere was great and the food was absolutely lovely and arrived at the table within 20 minutes of ordering! We also received complimentary bread which was a lovely touch. The staff walked by and checked in to make sure that we were happy and our glasses were always full! We would definitely come back and try the other items on the menu - they all look lush ☺️

Lovely eating area, plenty of room on the table. Service was excellent where nothing was too much trouble, all the staff were friendly and helpful. So much choice, both for food menu and drinks. The food did not disappoint any of us. Presentation, portion size and cooked really well. All said we’ll be back .

We attended Drovers Arms as a group of 20 and had a fantastic time, no hiccups at all! The pub has a brilliant atmosphere, and their outdoor tipi is an absolute highlight. The drinks are well‑priced, the staff are friendly and accommodating, and the outdoor space feels really welcoming, especially for larger groups. Whether you’re there for a meal, a few pints, or just relaxing in the tipi with friends, it’s a brilliant spot. Highly recommend for group visits or a casual, enjoyable pub experience, the tipi makes it even better!

We went for a family meal. We had the fish & chips and the turkey. Both were absolutely delicious! Our orders were taken very quickly and our food came out very quickly as well. The service was impeccable! All the staff were extremely attentive and helpful. Our glasses were never empty! Can’t recommend the Drovers Arms enough! ☺️

Very scenic drive over to this pub with lush greenery everywhere. Came on a sunny Sunday for lunch and it was great. It was a quaint, cosy pub with great food. Thoroughly enjoyed our time there however my only reservation is that on our pork meal both the apple sauce and crackling both advertised on the menu were absent otherwise it would have been a great meal out.

T
Tony Woodall

A decent selection of beers and definitely more of a restaurant than a bar. Friendly bar staff and ample parking. 2 open fires in the bar area which goes round to a large seated area for meals. Marking down one point as there are plenty of places with more atmosphere, but absolutely fine for a meal. Expect mains to be in the £14 mark range to well over £20 for steaks etc. Would happily come back.

Had a lovely meal here. Person I was with wasn't sure the salsa went with the lamb but did enjoy it all the same. Salmon and the sauce were divine. It was busy but service was good.

S
Sophie

Great food and drinks. Only issues we had was the table we was given had servers constantly walking past which made me slightly uncomfortable as the stones on the ground kept getting accidentally kicked into my legs . The table was booked for 6 but we wasn't seated till 6:24pm however the food was fast and fresh and fairly priced. Massively recommend the chicken and ham pie!

S
Sue Smith

On the plus side...pleasant environment, efficient service, good/interesting menu options, nice food. But not blown away. And some niggles... For example...Beetroot pie served in a dish on a plate, on which were 2 smallish pieces of roast potato. The 'seasonal' greens were served at the other end of the table and never made it to the pie eater. He felt cheated 🫤

Excellent Sunday lunch but you must book as it's very popular Feb 12th 2026 our second visit and the midweek lunchtime meal was fabulous. We had various different meals between us and all enjoyed them. Unfortunately we were all a bit cold at the very far end of the restaurant.

C
Craig Bennett

Nice place & atmosphere unfortunately the food in my view wasn’t that great, I ordered steak pie with seasonal veg & chips, the chips was frozen & tasteless, the pie looked like mince but tasted ok, the veg was plain boiled veg with a watery gravy. The wife ordered the swordfish and I was told that wasn’t great ether. Puddings, cheesecake & apple crumble was some of the best we’ve tasted. Total cost for 2 flavoured gins, 1 pint Moretti, 2 meals & 2 puddings. £88

C
Christa Pennock

Sunday roast was very good. Little more attention to service would have given 5 out of 5. We didn't get asked if we wanted more drinks or if our meal was okay. We had to request the dessert menu and the bill.

S
Steph

Standard pub food with a nice friendly atmosphere. Children's menu available. I felt it some of the dishes were a bit expensive. Very busy on the Saturday we went. Food service was great although a little slow to get the bill out and pay. Food was well presented.

A
Adam Cawkill

Lovely warm and inviting setting well run and staffed and i had high hopes but the sunday dinner was terrible got one roast potato they forgot my stuffing and the beef was very tough and gristly. The vegetables were a menagerie of sprouts red cabbage and swede / carrot mash cant comment because i dont like any of them anyway and the gravy was very thin all in all the food didnt do the venue justice.

L
Lynda Taylor

Very disappointing. 2 main courses and 2 desserts, all of which could have been better. Alerted staff to issue with one of the main courses, however, no action other than ‘I will make the chef aware’. Therefore, didn’t bother to feed back on the desserts. We eat out at least once a week and have had much better food for significantly less cost.

Really looking forward to our meal at the Drovers Arms . We both ordered the steak and Ale pie which is one of our favourite , when it came the pie was very soggy and felt more like a pudding , the beef had lots of fat round it and was quite chewy . For a pie of this price we would have expected better . Also our table was in the passage way between both dining areas and was busy with staff backwards and forwards , at one point my husband nearly had drinks all over him from the waiter coming through . All in all disappointed experience .

G
Glenn Robertson

We arrived at the Drovers placed our orders and waited and waited eventually 55 minutes later the food arrived, my wife’s food was fine but they brought me the wrong order! I had to wait another 20 minutes for my original order to arrive But then they brought me sweet potato fries instead of chips. This was supposed to be a special meal for my 65th birthday WOW what an experience NOT I’ll never cross that pubs doorway again.

S
Simon Kingsley-Davy

We have been to this pub a couple of times thinking it would improve. The staff are great and never any issue, the problem is with the food. Meat is great, Yorkshire pudding fine just a little cold, gravey like dishwater and tasteless, roast potatoes not able to cut with a knife as they were probably kept under heat lamp or salamander, finally the veg is hard, heavily spiced and peppered and very cold. I ate my 4 slices of meat, yorkshire pudding and part of a potatoe, and I'll not pass any comment on the stuffing ball. PS, Christmas time and running out of cranberry space 30 minutes into service, very poor.

G
Georgie Flintoff

The food was terrible! Such a shame because the atmosphere, decor and staff were so lovely. Staff very attentive and helpful, but the food was shocking! The menu sounded great, and a huge selection. I ordered a burger, it was dry and bland, like it was reheated. The bread was stale and the coleslaw tasteless! My partner ordered the mixed grill. Meat tasted cheap, and flavourless, wasn’t presented great either. Never normally complain but the food wasn’t cheap and it was bad! Like I say, the girls on shift, one I think was a manager, was brilliant and very helpful. However, I wouldn’t go again because the food was so bad

C
Catherine Hudson

Booked for a birthday meal for my husband. Decor, atmosphere and menu really good. Restaurant fairly quiet when we arrived-about 4 other parties in, got much busier while we were waiting for our food. Unfortunately we didn’t get to try the food having waited over an hour then when I asked we were told it would be another 5-10 minutes. The manager advised us the pie took 20 minutes to cook (this did not account for the other 40 minutes). Unacceptable wait time with poor attention to detail- we sat with empty glasses for over half an hour., We won’t be back.

J
Jessica Broadhurst

We were booked in for five o’clock , turned up at five to , we tried to get in but door was locked we knocked on door as it was very cold and the staff were in the window having a drink. We were told we don’t open till five and we asked if we could Come in and wait as it was freezing and we had a four year old Child with us , we were told No as they were obviously setting up in a very abrupt manner . We did say that we wouldn’t come back and he just shrugged as if he didn’t care !!! We didn’t come back and will not return!! In response to the Managers response trying to justify , I can clarify that we were not there at 4.40 pm we were there at 4.55 pm and child most definately was there he is only four but as the staff were more interested in drinking and chatting between themselves they obviously did not notice

T
Tracey yeomans

My husband ordered the swordfish and when it came it was cold x the manager came over and we were told that the chef had said it was warm ,basically insinuating that we were wrong x if it’s cold it’s cold x what happened to the customer is always right??? The manager looked down her nose at us ,argued with us and had a bad attitude. Totally unacceptable in my opinion and my book x it could have been a completely different outcome had she been compassionate and understanding 🤷‍♀️
