Everything was delicious. Customer service was awesome. The brisket was moist and not fatty. The turkey was very peppery and moist. My daughter loved the brisket mac and cheese. Very generous portions and so glad we found this place. We will definitely be visiting again next time we visit our son at Tech.
Got catering for daughters Tech Graduation for 40 people. Super amazing and easy to work with! The brisket was great but the Turkey was out of this world and stole the show! The only thing that toped it was the house made tortillas !
Read reviews of this place and watched a video of the owners which made us go out of our way to try this place. Well... it was worth changing up our trip to try this place. The owners were as welcoming and genuine in person as they are in the video. The place is dog friendly and the food is excellent (had the brisket, ribs, burnt ends and added jalapeno sausage... w/ beans and potato salad). It was all incredible. Can't wait to go back!
Stopped on the way down to San Antonio from Colorado. Phenomenal mom and pop BBQ joint. Recommend ribs, burnt ends, smoked burger with added brisket, and frito pie loaded. Gentle on the wallet with leftovers for the next meal. The staff was so kind, friendly, and attentive. A must stop when in the area. Check times for hours. A hidden local gem!!
Our favorite place to get barbecue ever. The only place within 100 miles that I will buy barbecue. Here's one reason why.....we like our brisket moist (=fatty). Today, they accidently gave us lean brisket. I took it back and they immediately replaced it with moist brisket that was outstanding. I really love the place that the couple that owns it are the best. Thanks
I’ve always enjoyed stopping in for great BBQ, but we had them cater an event for us and they were beyond great. Great food, service, and all the fixings. So good!!!!
Brisket sandwich was super moist. I got the sliced and it was so tender it just fell apart. The atmosphere was the coolest scene, old school gas station feel if your in the Lubbock Area 100% recommend trying.
Had the three meat plate and will get two or three meals from it. The sides were pinto beans and brisket mac and cheese. Both were delicious.
I was introduced to Pitforks and Smokerings a few years ago. They are one of the best bbq joints I’ve ever had. The brisket is always tender and perfect, the turkey has great flavor without being dry. All of their sides are amazing especially the smoked cabbage and the brisket mac and cheese. We have used them for catering orders and everyone is always impressed with how good the food is. Great people and great food! You have to stop by when you are in Slaton!
For those who don't know, this "station" has been in the owners family for quite some time. We have driven by on the highway for many, many years , but could never stop due to time constraints and were excited to finally get to stop. To increase our excitement was a story we were surprised to see on TCR about this unassuming spot. We just had to make the trip, far out of our way, and did. The owner and his wife deserve the success I hope they are experiencing. They are humble and charming. The brisket we got was undeniably topnotch. I do wish they were closer, but we are 4 and a half hours/316 miles away. We will be back.
First time coming here today. Even though they were busy, they still managed to get our orders out in a timely manner. The workers were awesome... Very sweet and friendly. The food was AMAZING!! Had the pork belly burnt ends. I definitely recommend this place! Go early because they do run out fast.
Great food and service. Love this place
Fantastic BBQ and amazing service! Isaac and his crew were fun to talk with and took good care of us during our stay. You can tell they put their heart and soul into their work!
I was really surprised. You know that saying don't judge a book by its cover ? Well, let me tell you, I wasn't going to post anything about this place because then the crowds start to show up and it can make or break a small restaurant. But they were so darn good!! So, the burger topped with brisket, my son who is super picky, gave it a 4.5 out 5. I just gave him a side eye... lol. We tried the pulled pork , brisket, and pork ribs . Pulled pork and brisket were delicious. The ribs were super good . But had a bold pepper flavor that I think you will love or not. The same goes with the atmosphere. You will love it or not. The food was so good, just get it to go. Lol. Overall, my family will be back . There are no pictures because it looks like BBQ. BBQ is something that needs to be tasted to know. Next time, I will try the sausages and turkey.. for sure 😋 .
The first review I've written on Facebook ever. We were working at a site nearby and those running that place told us this one compared well to (beat) one of the 50 best BBQ joints just south of Lubbock I already tried. We drive to where it is but see no sign, just a defunct gas station with a double line of 8 cars each in the adjacent grass, cause its to go, covid season. The brisket and pork ribs rank as good as any I've had, a bit better than rated BBQ place down the highway. I hunt these places down and was shocked how good a place could be that wasn't rated, though it will be. The sign in the window requires getting out of the car and coming around a partition to see. But man was this BBQ good & worth finding.
Grew up having brisket, beans, and potato salad for lunch on Saturdays. We were in Slaton and decided to try out Pitforks & Smokerings, and, Wow, I'm glad we did. I did 1 meat plate with brisket, beans, brisket mac&cheese, with a homemade tortilla. Top Notch! We'll be back even though we live in Lubbock, it's worth the drive.
Such great barbecue & sides. Friendly staff and comforting atmosphere. If you’re in Slaton, Tx stop by Pitfork and Smokerings BBQ to savor their amazing barbecue. We had their brisket, sandwich and smoked burger with sides. All were so good!
I had a brisket burrito, which was a pile of sliced brisket wrapped in a homemade tortilla! Fried cabbage, suggested by staff, which had bacon and onions! And also beans which I also recommend! It was a chilly day so we sat in the indoor seating which filled quickly! Yummy food! Adorable atmosphere and real people staff! 100% recommend!
We drove down from Abilene tx today, Some of the best BBQ and Owners ever. Everyone was super friendly, food was amazing. We even got 3 burgers to go , ate them for dinner, Amazing! The Owners came and talked to us , told us some great stories and some recommendations on places to stop before we drove back home. 😊 We will be back for sure. The drive is worth it.
While driving on my way back to San Antonio, I stopped here for lunch. The place is not much to look at; it's anything but fancy. But the brisket was absolutely delicious, and the service was great. The two ladies I encountered were sweeter than apple pie. I may never find myself in this part of Texas again, but if I am, I will DEFINITELY go back to this place.
It doesnt look like much from the road and we stopped by on a Wednesday which has a limited menu but the Turkey Bacon Sandwich was delicious. The place itself was really cool too!
Right off a busy highway, you can find this little gem. With no expectations at all, my wife wanted to try this place. The brisket is the best meat on the menu, no sauce needed at all. If your brisket is this good, it's a money printer. This brisket can hold itself with the best of them. The cabbage is a new twist to vegetables with BBQ, which turned out to be one of my favorite things of the meal. I'd give this place an 8.3. If you are around LBK, try and make time for this little gem.
I finally made it out to the Lubbock area and got to meet Isaac and Ashley Arellano, the incredible couple who run Pitforks and Smokerings BBQ in Slaton. Holy cow I was blown away by both their kindness and hospitality as well as their incredible food! I was in heaven with every delicious bite of smoked meat and each side. They really took great care of me - well beyond what I could have dreamed of. I got to try the moist and lean brisket - fabulous bark, great flavor and perfectly-rendered fat - everything you could hope for in brisket. The pork spareribs were immaculate. The brisket burnt ends were absolutely ridiculous! And the icing on the cake was the pile of fajitas! OMG they were otherworldly! The sides that I got to try were equally stunning. I could have eaten the brisket mac-n-cheese all day long. The potato salad was exceptional. And the fried cabbage blew my mind. Everything about the experience was next-level. I sooooo wish that Slaton was a little closer to Houston so I could just pop over and enjoy their incredible food and amazing hospitality all the time. Next time I'm gonna get there on a Friday so I can enjoy their pork steaks, Or maybe Saturday - burger day! If you find yourself anywhere near Lubbock, you have got to go see Isaac and Ashley. They will take fantastic care of you. And tell 'em Dave sent you.
What an experience! Get there right at 11 if you don't want to wait in line, but it's definitely worth the wait! Perfectly smoked brisket, moist and tender beef rib and the best turkey within 300 miles! Even the pork ribs stand out as excellent - and the sausage is meaty with a perfect snap when you bite in to it.
Just a great little BBQ stop. Homemade tortillas are a neat little twist on traditional BBQ fare. Fried cabbage may be an homage to Slaton’s German roots? The brisket was great and even better wrapped, sauceless, in the aforementioned tortillas. Hoping to make it a regular stop when we pass through!
This by far one of the best bbq places I’ve been to. All this time living so close to such great bbq. Can’t wait to go back and try more items. Loved sitting outside watching a thunderstorm roll in it was a perfect atmosphere.
My friend who goes every weekend because she loves it so much brought me here and I was pleasantly surprised! I got the ribs and sausage with two sides, mac n chees and fried cabbage. I wasn't a huge fan of the mac n cheese being filled with brisket too but I think that's just my personal preference. The fried cabbage was yummy and crunchy without being overly slimy, it was also full of bacon and flavor. I paid $22 for my two meat two sides plate and went home with leftovers. My friend got the SMALL frito pie and look at the size of that in the picture! Definitely worth the trip. This place embodies what people mean when they talk about the amazing bbq places in Texas that are just little hole in the walls off of a highway. Also, I forgot to mention the AMAZING staff. I felt so welcome and they were very attentive and friendly. Loved it!
Great family owned BBQ joint situated in a family owned renovated auto shop. Staff was super friendly and attentive. Featured in Texas Monthly as the Future of BBQ in this area. Had the 2 meat plate with brisket and turkey. Sides were beans and potato salad. Wife had brisket Mac and cheese for her side. Everything was excellent and I will make this a visit again on my way through. Thanks for keeping family owned restaurants alive.
Perfect Brisket, Turkey Breast and Pork Ribs. Fried Cabbage and Mac & Cheese were good. Loaded Frito Pie was Amazing!!
We saw an interview on TV a couple of years ago so we planned our trip to try it. We were not disappointed! Huge portions, the meat was perfect, the sides are original and so delicious! The staff were friendly and helpful. It is a must try!
Oh my gosh! The burnt ends burger with a slice of brisket on top is out if this world. It has a smoky taste and the texture is really hard to describe but so good. The old gas station atmosphere is different, but really nice. I have found my new favorite burger place. I hear the brisket mac and cheese is really good, but has been sold out both times I've been there. Do yourself a favor and stop the next time you're in Slaton or passing through.
I've heard about this place for a long time and finally made it out there. People, this place is legit! I was disappointed that they were out of a lot of things but that just shows you how good it really is. We got the ribs, brisket Mac n cheese and the phenomenal fried cabbage. You have got to try Pitforks and Smokerings!
Outstanding brisket sandwich. Lean. Toasted bun. Free beer in a cooler out front. Open Thursday - Sunday 11 - sell out.
Very welcoming and family friendly atmosphere! The food was amazing and I’ll definitely be back! Came through dropping a work load and picked up a great meal!

I was visiting from Oregon to see my nephew and niece so he brought me here because he knows I love good bbq. I couldn’t believe how good everything was. And I mean everything!! That’s the best bbq I’ve ever had! Great service too! I’ll be back.
Great prices for the combo meals. They definitely give you plenty of meat. Service was great very friendly staff. Definitely a must try location..... Today they had live music.... they were great.....
The wife and I had heard about this place and wanted to try it. So, Saturday morning we headed over to make sure and get there early before they ran out of anything. We got there and had no wait to go in and order. All three of us had the one meat plate with brisket and sides. Everyone had the beans and potato salad except me and I got the beans and the brisket mac and cheese. The boxes were all the same but the one my wife ended up with had quite a bit of fat. More than the other 2 boxes. The barbecue sauce is great as well. One negative for us is that drinks are served in cans or bottles. Not sure what we paid for the tea, water and Coke Zero. The one meat plate is $19 and does not include the drink. The portions on the sides are ample as well. It was a great meal. Good friendly people and a nice place to sit and eat. However, because of the price it isn't a place we will go back to. For 3 of us to eat, after tip it was $72. That is just a little steep for me. Give it a try, you might be a big spender and the price won't bother you.
We got brisket sandwiches. The taste was amazing! It's a far drive but we will definitely go back!
SO good. Wednesdays they don’t have a full menu (only sandwiches), so will definitely have to come back on a different day to try more delicious food. Staff were incredibly friendly and family oriented.
Amazing food and service. It's worth the drive from Lubbock. You might want to call ahead to see if they have what you want, as they run out sometimes since they are becoming increasingly popular (and well-deserved). They've got free beer if you're dining outside. Moist brisket, good mac & cheese. There's so much more I could say, but I'll just say that I struggle to find any complaints.

Good, but lots of fat in what we ordered. Not sure if that's the norm since it was our first time. One expects fat in BBQ, but I would rather pay more to only have meat then half meat and fat. Personal preference but if you love fat then this is your place. Owner - he was very friendly and helpful.
Big portions and big bites of slow cooked BBQ. Had the brisket and turkey both good but the Turkey was very moist and juicy which is a pleasant surprise for white meat. Simple menu at good prices. Limited outdoor seating but right off the highway perfect to call ahead and pickup for a roadside picnic. Individual meals and by the pound family style. No frills except the food.
I’ve heard so many great things about this place about it being one of the best BBQ places around and just me being really honest I wasn’t that impressed but my boyfriend enjoyed his food but he wish it wasn’t as much fat on the meat. The beans were to salty but the macaroni and cheese was great. Don’t go off the menu price that’s online tho. Customer service was top-notch and great atmosphere.
The best BBQ around. It's literally worth it to drive for 20 minutes to get there from LBK instead of all the places in town. I wish they were open 7 days a week! The only reason it's a 4-Star for me is the layer 🤏🏻 of dust on all tables in the dining room. We had the brisket Mac and Cheese, the fried cabbage, burnt end, brisket and the jalapeno sausage. The burnt end is the best, all the rest were great, too.
