Great 49er atmosphere. So much fun to be a 9'er fan at Saddle Bar. Definitely will be there again!
This place is so great. We love the atmosphere great staff and top-notch food from next door. I think it's the best bar on the coast. They also have great music a few times a week. Brett is the man and should be mayor of Solana Beach.
This place rocks! Excellent digs. Brilliant staff. Live music. Nothing better than that! Our band Nightbloom played last night and we had a blast, thank you for the hospitality!
Back open and haven't missed a beat. Friendly, inviting atmosphere with extraordinarily, knowledgeable and professional management and staff. Highly recommend for family and friends gatherings to casual after business meeting. Always a good time.
Love this spot. I usually go here after I play pool at the other bar a block north off 101. This place is open past midnight and They got karaoke nights and open mic nights weekly, it’s a neighborly place to meet your a neighbors:) Cheers!
Driven by multiple times. Just never pulled the trigger to go. Oh it happened to be Karaoke night. Clearly some talent in there that night. Definitely a very local bar.
As dives go this one is an A+. Comfortable and welcoming I always enjoy the Saddle. Friends and family welcome to hang at a chill spot only 200yards to the sand of the Pacific Ocean. Full bar, beers on tap, and inexpensive well drinks. Also have plenty of live music on certain nights.
100% of the people that work here are TOP NOTCH - special Kudos for hiring right. Honorable mention for Dolche... This is a small raucous bar with excellent vibe, kinda the blue collar and beach crowd meets the laid back surfer.... I am certain I will never forget the generosity and consideration they have for random strangers, like, tipping Uber drivers back when it was not common, and looking out for people that were just regular folks. LOVE YOU GUYS. It's really close to the beach and the train.
From a bar that once allowed motorcycles drive thru the building, to a fine bar with upper end liquor available at reasonable prices. I enjoyed a nice beer and a neat 1942 tequila. P.S. I kinda wish I was around to see the place in the old days to see if the legends were true.
A low key spot that could turn up to 11 on any notice, while maintaining service and security,as well a variety of entertainment. I miss the goldfish races and open mic night but too much of a good thing is a bad thing so it's still a 10/10 spot.
Wow Just Wow I Truck Drive and Must Say This Bar Should Really Be Known For their Food I Had the Baja Chicken Salad and I Would Say it was the Best I Have Ever Had and Guacamole and Chips to Go Although it Was all to Go It Was Full of Flavor from the First to Last Bite I Am Book Marking to Come Back Hats Off to the Chief!!!
A great fun local bar! A must for all areas and this place fills that gap perfectly, it always has fun people with great affordable drinks 🍻
Super friendly locals, live band, great vibe, mixed younger/older crowd, order food next door and they will deliver it you. The drinks are fairly priced.
Came with friend the bar’s atmosphere is very good bar tender Kyle is super friendly great bar to stop by for football games
Saddle bar formerly the Surf & Saddle in formerly McCaffrey's has always been a great location it's currently under the ownership of a decent human is doing a good job and it's a lot of fun I love the location because it's surrounded by so much wealth but it's still a bar a bar should always be a bar this is definitely always been a bar and I enjoyed front porch in the Beautiful Girls spilling out of it
well... I met all the best people here.. including my husband, so I may be biased! Good drinks and Pillbox next door has great food!
Other than having to buy food that I definitely didn't eat, it was awesome! Definitely not their fault, Newsom is at fault here. Great bartender and regulars.
Always great service and smiles. Definitely helps when you are around family. Not to mention whether you are born and raised or just passing through you get treated as you should!!! Cant wait to go back!!!!
Great 49er atmosphere. Friendly people who are die hard Niners fans.
Went to Fiesta Del Sol and ended up hanging out there. Met the owner Mike. Great guy. Very hands on. Friendly local spot.
Fun little spot a block from Fletcher's Cove Beach. The parking lot between the bar and the beach is open to the public on nights and weekends, there were several spots available. The bar room is cute and small with nice bar top booths lining the walls. Of course they have golden tee, sorry for the pun. Haven't been in years, it has changed a lot. Used to be called the Surf and Saddle and it had more of a country theme. It was a little rougher, where it has a cigar bar feel now. The bartender was friendly, good pour, and it was pretty lively with people coming and going and a dog sitting at the bar 👍

I've driven by this place numerous times but never decided to stop in. On a recent visit, it happened to be Karaoke night, and there was clearly some local talent performing. It's definitely a very local bar.
This is such a very nice friendly place the atmosphere is very fun here it's a big San Francisco 49ers bar which I am glad to visit. The bartenders are very nice cool and provide very professional bar service and seem to always have a smile. But what I really like is the San Francisco 49er fan who pack the place. Fun to talk to like minded die hard fans like myself I highly recommend going here during 49er games
Kyle the bartender is great conversation and makes the bar feel welcoming and friendly. It's clean, quaint, and welcoming atmosphere for out of towners, with delicious drinks.
Best bar north of La Jolla!!!! Kyle is a dope bartender, very unpretentious bar with cool people, will come back when I’m with my north country friends.
What's not to love about this place? I always have a pleasant time here. The bartenders and fellow patrons are awesome. Very chill during the day and gets crowded at night--especially during the open mic nights, which are epic.
Sooooo much fun. I was there on a Wednesday which is karaoke night. Very enthusiastic crowd, great bartender and just a cool place to hangout.
Great place with great 90’s alternative music. I am sure the music selection changes but the overall atmosphere is great
When we are in solano beach we ALWAYS go to the saddle, the staff are awesome, the atmosphere is wonderful!
Nice dive bar. Has GTG. Bartender was friendly with good service. Sunday night is open mic and gets a little rowdy and live.
Karaoke night on Wednesdays was so much fun.
Best pre and post Del Mar bar, period. Mike the owner pours the Guinness himself and their jukebox kicks ass. 5 stars. See you at Breeders '25!

No food, so ignore the rating for food. 😀 The atmosphere is Solana Beach dive bar, but the wait staff is cool. Went on a Saturday afternoon and it was full, but not busy. Cool place.
Bouncer was super friendly, super busy friday night after the Del Mar Faire the four of us came in to socialize, fairly loud environment, but everyone was having a good time. Drinks were strong and came out fast, not a crazy big dance area, but that stopped noone. All in all a good experience.
Being just off the 101 is nice because you get less out of towners and more locals. In fact most people walk here versus drive, that's another reason the parking lot is filled with taxi cabs and not cars. It gets popping on any random weeknight. I hear they do goldfish races and other seasonal events. Bartenders are good, but they don't offer near the beer selection I'd like (probably a licensing limit on their taps), but since they re-opened (hadn't been here in years) under new ownership they revamped a lot. They have a personal favorite Magic Hat's Not Quite #9. An amazing Vermont brewery who managed to get their famous beer at stores and bars with surprising frequency out here now (Compass). The stage is small, but fits a dozen people, probably 20 if it gets crazy. The bouncers do their job, but aren't jerks, I've had good convo's with a few of them. Though I didn't vape inside I did catch someone else doing it with an ego. I choose not to here because of size and my set up blows clouds. Full bar, more top shelf glass than I'd expect, but nothing mixologisty fancy. No fresh mint and basil infused kool whip martini's if that's what your coming here for. It's always going to have this local vibe, this pubish feel, but the fresh leather and high seating along the wall and the wood give off this country vibe. They have a good jukebox with most of your favorite hits, even new one's. The DJ on Wednesdays is good, he really listens to the crowd's physical feedback instead of going off into his own little world during a set. It can be a sausage fest, so I suggest you bring your own talent. The dancefloor has terrible ventilation and I have a tendancy to take off my shirt anyhow, bad combination. Oh yeah and their drinks are cheap a vast majority of the time. Weekends, it's about average, but I consider this a weeknight only bar. There is more excitement to be had than this quiet coastal spot. On a weekend. Played some house, some EDM, some pop, some top 40 something for everyone, no country though. The strange thing is the crowd often swells before 11, but dies by 12 and swells by 1 and dies at close. It's because the people pub crawling on their way home keeps people coming and going. If I lived in Solana beach within walking distance and they had a patio with a firepit I would make this my new OMTI's (favorite dive bar in Oceanside).
A fun, divey bar with good music, lots of space and room for a band (none were playing during my visit). Also, cheap/strong drinks. It's just steps from the beach in case you develop a liquor jacket and decide to take a dip in the Pacific.
Open Mic late Sunday nights is great f you're out and about after 10 pm. The pours are good, and the service is attentive.
Fun 49ers bar in Solano Beach! Smallish place with a woody interior. The vibe is super chill and it's a great place to watch the game. Occasionally there is live music, karaoke and pub games. They don't make food, but you can order from next door or BYOF. Only downside is one women's bathroom stall. Otherwise, super fun!!

Small bar in Solana Beach. It is a big 49er hang out. Limited beer selection, but the Alpine Duet IPA is great. Eats next door. Go down and cheer the Red and Gold with fellow Faithful
Get neighborly bar. Bartenders are friendly and the people are great .

Female Bartender doesn't know the difference between Hazy IPA and West Coast non Hazy. The other bartender had to correct her..she was actually getting a little mad that I corrected her?
I liked it better when it was the Surf and Saddle. They fixed it up and that is good. The bartenders are also good and attentive. Then I ordered a Tito's and O.J. and it was $8 during the day. Are you kidding? This place isn't THAT nice. I went down the street to the Tidewater and the same drink was $5.50. I won't be back!

Awful service. Stay away
Unbelievably crappy service. (Or lack there of.) It wasn't busy in the least, but we stood at the bar for 15 minutes while the guys working stood right in front of us bullshitting and pointedly ignoring us. On top of that, the women's restroom was out of order, and it smelled more than a little funky in there. We eventually ran out of patience and left. If it were possible to post less stars, I would certainly do so.
In town from Chicago and Phoenix and had the bouncer reject a 23 year old friend for being “underage” and not because she was a lesbian…it is never fun to find homophobics.
Been coming to this bar over 20 years...it's mind boggling how horrible the DJ's are. Fragments of songs.. biggest teases.. very unfortunate. All they have to do is play one decent song from beginning to end, but they can't even do it. So sad.
Confrontational bar staff. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere. I guess violence is encouraged here. I like to have a beer and watch the game and not be harassed. Cheers
The bar was rather empty, but service was slow. Took forever to get a drink, and then they took forever to get me a second drink when my first was finished. Then I asked for my tab, but the bartender decided to do something else. A second bartender (seemed like she just got on shift) decided to give me good service and close my tab. But the original, poor service, bartender needed my card again because she didn't ring in a beer. I paid, but then she told me I was being very rude. I walked out. Want good food, good service, good drinks, while having a busier place and cheaper prices? Literally go right next door. Saddle Bar could be great if the bartenders cared to give a decent service
Absolutely terrible. The last few times in Saddle, the staff was u friendly and the clientele was trashy. Tonight, we literally watched the bartenders take shots with friends and owners after last call. We were told that we weren't supposed to be served because of the time. However, we waited 10-15 minutes to even be acknowledged. When we questioned the situation, we were refused service. This will be reported to the ABC since they were apparently serving drinks after last call.
