I ordered the wrong thing by accident. I brought it back because I am allergic to lamb and they gave me the chicken skewer plate with rice, naan bread and yogurt sauce, which is very good.

What a great little place in downtown Sonora! Service was wonderful, the atmosphere was delightful and the food... oh the food! Spectacular! Fresh, light, delicious. We will definitely come back to this new little gem!

We ordered the shrimp plate served with pita, tzatziki and Greek rice ,calamari and one of the Greek specialties, the spanakopita dinner. All the dishes were tasty, great service with Greek background music. Thanks to the owner Yianni for bringing this gem to Sonora and to his wife Karen who does the baking. This place is amazing and the real deal! We stopped in not super hungry and decided to share the lemon chicken plate, but after tasting how good it was, we couldn’t help ordering more. The grilled octopus was super flavorful and tender, and we finished with the blueberry bougatsa, which was the perfect sweet ending. The owner, Yianni, was walking around checking on tables and making sure everyone was happy. Great food, great service — we’ll definitely be back to try more! Update 11/10: We came back for breakfast! 🤣 The pancakes had the perfect crispy edges and were nice and fluffy. The zorba breakfast bowl came in a waffle bowl and was also super flavorful and unique. Darlene was our server and she was amazing!! It was my boyfriend’s birthday and she even brought out a scoop of ice cream with a candle. I would recommend this place over and over again.

It was a true gift to be able to dine at Yianni’s Grill. The service, food, and experience is unmatched. As soon as you walk into the door you are greeted by someone and it feels as though you are immersing yourself into the culture with this dining experience. We saw the owner Mr. Yianni walking around talking to different tables and being extremely friendly. We had dinner here and the food was phenomenal. After every bite my palate kept asking for more. The way everything melts in your mouth is euphoric. This place was so delicious that I decided to come back again for breakfast a couple days later for my birthday to see what their breakfast had to offer. It was another phenomenal experience. The host Darlene was extremely friendly and so was the rest of the staff. They gave me a small scoop of ice cream and sang a quick happy birthday. This place is honestly one of the best dining experiences that I’ve had for whatever my opinion is worth to whoever is reading this. Best Greek food I have ever had and it’s in the middle of Sonora California, who would’ve knew? If you’re in the area, give it a try. You won’t be disappointed. Thank you Yianni and Yianni’s team. You all are doing great things!

Me and a friend decided to check out the local cuisine in town, and we were quite pleased to find a vegetarian-friendly Greek restaurant. I had pita bread and hummus as an appetizer, and I had the vegetarian gyro with a side of greek fries. Food tasted great. What’s even better, the restaurant is recognized by the Blue Zones Project (an organization that promotes longevity through healthy lifestyles). We were informed of that by our very friendly waitress, Darlene. She made our dining experience complete with her sweet hospitality. I definitely will come back here whenever I pass through town again.

I would highly recommend this place. I heard about Yianni's from a co-worker and she was right, this place doesn't disappoint! Everything was decilcous. We got the Patty Melt, Greek Burger, and Greek Fries. I didn't see any desserts on the menu so I asked if they had anything and we ended up ordering a slice of Baklava Cheesecake. We even got good parking right outside the doors.

This was written on yelp as well. But putting on google to help the business out. First off if I could give 10 stars I would. I went to Yiannis Grill with my family a few days ago. At first I had my suspicions because of greek food in downtown Sonora but those quickly escaped my mind. We quickly sat down with the owner of the establishment Michael saying hello as well as the wait staff so very friendly. My mom and dad who have been to Greece before said that the overall look and feel of the restaurant were just like Greece. The waitress came almost immediately and took our order. I got the Saganaki and grilled lamb with dessert being the Baklava. It tasted amazing some of the best food I have ever had. When they brought out the cheese it was flaming and tasted amazing. We soon got our main courses which were spectacular couldn't have been made better and the owner came over and started taking with us. I loved how he didn't make us seem like we were an average family coming to eat but instead got our names, and asked about us and where we were from etc... He was such a nice guy and we had a great talk with him. I ended up getting the baklava for dessert which was amazing. Overall left with a full belly and great vibes.

Yianni's Grill is a Greek oasis in Tuolumne County that instantly transports you to the Mediterranean with inviting decor, cultural music, and a welcoming staff that makes you feel like family. This family-owned business features a large menu showcasing the very best of Greek cuisine. The food is fresh, delicious, and consistent. Tonight, we had the bacon-wrapped tenderloin with mushrooms and wine sauce. Each bite melts in your mouth. Chef Tommy knocked it out of the park! They also have a great beer and wine list, and you must order the baklava to satisfy your sweet tooth. Yianni, the proprietor, personally checks in with his customers, always greeting them with a warm smile and making you feel like an old friend. It doesn’t get any better, and we keep coming back! Been in twice now and still impressed. Had the salmon with the spinich rice, of course with the again solid side salad. And the Bougatsa with blueberries was amazing! Our server was on top of it all night for us, she was awesome. The authentic music makes the atmosphere very cheerful. This is a great little spot. Even the side salad was just a solid, good salad. Lots of vegetarian options.

We have winter twice in 2 weeks! The first time they messed up my dinner order. They were quick to fix it and made it right by adding some extra fries. Everything is always hot fresh in extraordinary. The food is 100% authentic, fresh, ready to eat! I highly suggest this place and the warm family atmosphere is amazing also ❤️

It is like walking into a friend’s home. We are always greeted with a smile. Everyone is friendly and makes us feel like family. The food is just amazing and we order something different each time. Today my favorite is the carrot (cake) which we brought home and fought over. No one got hurt but this dessert is highly recommended. It is fresh out of the oven and served on Thursday Friday and Saturday. 💜

The atmosphere is so peaceful and inviting. Service was friendly and wonderful. The food, THE FOOD! So, so good. As a first time visitor to this town, this is the spot to have great food and service.

My cousin and I had an excellent dinner there last night. The ambience is lovely. The vegetable and lamb skewers were incredible. The Saaki was excellent. The pita and hummus were excellent. Even the Greek fries were so good. My cousin got a Greek salad and it looks delicious. I highly recommend this place. The staff was also awesome.

The overall rate of 4 was because of extremely tiny portion of tzaziki, small amount of spinach/rice. I ordered a plate of loaded gyro fries which I would not do again as it was more of a side dish size wasn't the meal I planned taking my daughter home and very few tiny pieces of gyro meat. I'd rather pay a bit more and get a meal instead if I had known that. Now let's talk about what a charming person Yianni was, as was his family, especially after finding out that I'm half Greek. The atmosphere is homey, it smells like my childhood growing up in our family restaurant. I will definitely go back for more lamb!
