This is our go to Chinese. Local to us, but worth getting delivery from across town. Best by a long way.

Have had take away from here for many years. Never had bad food or service.

Always great service takeaway and collection; food is tasty, too.

Always great food from here! The lady that runs it runs a tight but clearly in the best way! Always freshly cooked and in good time. We are regulars lol.

Mine and my siblings favorite take away when we fancy Chinese. We all have our favorite dishes and they never disappoint us. They always busy but delivery is relatively quick anyway. If you go to pick up yourself they always treat you well and are friendly and polite.

Hands down the best Chinese takeaway I’ve had in a long time. Not from the area but got this delivered to the hospital and gutted it’s not close to my home. Food was hot, amazing quality and super tasty. Damn I’m making myself hungry writing this and thinking about how tasty it was.

100% Best Chinese in Southampton. I tried the most of them here. The Best chicken balls with curry souce, hot and sour soup is not even close from other places, salt and pepper squid is the freshest I’ve ever had. Food is finger licking good. Shame that they don’t do delivery over the Bridge . We terrible missing that food since we moved.

Lovely chinese ordered from here twice now & both times the food was amazing! Duck chowmein swapped the bbq sauce 4 hoisin was bloody amazing!!

Never deliver on time. Takes more than an hour regardless which day of week/weekend. Food always good though.

Food is good but every time we order for collection it takes 15 minutes longer than the time stated for the food to be ready, bit of a petty problem but when giving a time at least try and stick to it.

Really disappointed with the quality of food. Ordered before New Years and it was like always, we ordered today and the food was tasteless and very little veg comparing to what it used to be.

Used to be amazing quality but the last couple orders haven't been so great. Tonight will be our last order as the chips were raw & inedible which is a shame as the curry & rice noodles were ok.

Food is usually good sometimes very quick which is a worry

Food was really bland with everything tasting the same, prawn toast was spongy and tasteless , left a horrible taste in my mouth literally.

The food had no taste to it, the chips were hard and the cost of it was far too high, I will not be going back.

From ordering to delivery was 2 hours The starter was frozen/microwaved The main courses were utterly bland - no flavour at all Glad I got the 10% off that order as there will not be another.

Delivery was quick,got wrong curry thou.The curry tasted like it was trying to be a Indian curry.Tasted like a Indian jar curry sauce.One of the worst curries tasted from a Chinese that,s my opinion.Singapore chow mein tasted like that weird curry taste.Also had Shredded beef with chilli sauce that was ok,chips were also ok never again the quest for the best Chinese continues.

Ordered a lemon chicken that came with chunks of pineapple in. this was not listed on the menu and i had a pineapple allergy so could not eat my food. everyone else’s food looked nice though

We order from China garden every time we have Chinese, tonight the chips were well UNDERCOOKED and the pancake roll was under cooked , wasn't crispy at all. Apart from that the rest of the meal was good

Food is very good. Waiting times for delivery and collection is very poor. Up to 2 hours waiting for a delivery, so this time I thought I would collect and it was 50 min from the time I ordered. All you get is sorry for the wait, it is our busy time. 😠

Order came hot but very greasy. The chicken balls tasted fishy. The rice was soaked in oil wouldn't order again and it cost a bomb to not enjoy!

If its sub standard food you are looking for this is the place to go, ive seen better looking food left over in the bus stop on my way home from a night out.

food is good, but service is a shambles. Waiting 2 hours for a £20 takeaway is a joke. When phoned to ask where food was were told it was on way, we live 2 miles away, another 3o minutes and still no food, called again and told it was just leaving. Why lie, been using this place for 15 years but service has just gone down hill, cant be bothered anymore and gone elsewhere. my advice is dont bother on a friday or saturday.

I am a regular customer from my last order I have noticed that food getting worse, won ton soup lost taste and it’s not full of prawns as before, wing are extremely small size and it’s a less meat in portion I’m afraid due to cost they sacrifice quality. I will not order again very disappointed.

I GOT FOOD POISONING - don’t order from here - lucky my child who is under 5 didn’t eat any of the Chinese I ordered ! But I’m not happy ! Won’t be ordering from here again !!! 3 days and still very Ill !

If your looking for Bland chowmein and stale prawn crackers this could the Chinese for you, this used to be our go to Chinese, but one too many rubbish meals, I won’t be ordering again.

Absolutely terrible haven't used this take away for 2yrs had a stone in my pancake roll but my usual chinese is closed so thoght try this one again just ordered salt and pepper ribs no taste what so ever and basically no meat on them spent a total of £24 won't be using this place again Absolutely appalling the other 3 dishes bland

Went here for years won't be again had special instructions that they did not follow rang up they said they would get my dish to me ASAP. . .55 minutes later . . All are food was already gone what do you expect us to do sit there with cold food and hot . . Ridiculous if you can't handle the orders . . Don't take them

I don't know if this place has had a change of chef as I've been ordering from here for a long time, but the last 2 orders from here have been revolting, just not nice food at all.

Since last year service, food quality went down hill. The lady was rude. Spent over thirty pounds to get leftover meal. We decided to stay away from this Chinese shop from now.

Appalling service – avoid at all costs. Ordered online with one hour 15 minute delivery time. When they were already 30 minutes late, they rang and said they will not deliver because the driver couldn't find us. Then demanded we came and collected the order! Save yourself a lot of effort.

Ordered yesterday for delivery and it was totally rank . Soggy spring rolls, over cooked ribs and prawn toast ,crispy chilli chicken totally soggy also .I think they had just re heated stuff left from previous day's . Won't be wasting my money using China Garden again.

Have just had delivery made will never use again, Chips were hard, curry sauce and bbq sauce conjiled in 1 lump in pots, chow mein stodgy, chicken with spicy salt had very strange taste, will definitely stay well away.

ABSOLUTELY APPALLING SERVICE!! will never order from here again.... we waited over 90 mins before we called to see where our order was and was told they were just cooking it and it would be s further 15 mins, ... we waited a further 40 mins before we started cooking beans on toast,....we tried and tried to call and cancel our order but the line was constantly engagaed. the driver who turned up with our food was very apologetic and polite and we felt very sorry that he was the one who had to deal with the complaint. we eventually got through and was politely told that they were very busy due to lots of telephone orders and then walk ins whom had bigger orders ... so the phone orders had to wait!! ... surely it would have been better to have told the incoming customers that you were very very busy and that there would be a delay due to heavy telephone orders ... instead you tried to take all the work on and let all of us wait .... we were offered 10% discount of of our next order but tbh we have read some previous reviews and this seems to be a regular issue for them so we probably wont return .... apologies again to the nice driver and i sincerely hope for his sake that your service improves in the future so he doesnt have to face angry hungry customers again

Stay clear of this place me and my partner just had a curry from here order through just eat ate our food come in the kitchen with our plates and a live maggot was on my kitchen side next to the Chinese containers and the rice discusting through up what we ate sat here felling sick and hungry disgusting makes me wonder the conditions in the china gardens kitchen is in to have life maggots in their food not happy

I have never used this takeaway before. And would not recommend using it, we ordered chicken curry and chips, the chips were dry and wrinkled and plenty of scraps, if that's what you would like. We have been in the toilet most of the night. And the cost for what we got, I think was ridiculous, we didn't even get any free prawn crackers from here" at a cost of £30.70 would definitely not recommend here.

Poor at best, used twice now once midweek and once weekend. Both times chips were hard, rice was cold. The food tasted dirty, if I wasn’t so lazy I would have taken it back. Avoid like the plague

Orderd like two weeks ago took my payment online and then rang and couciled saying don't deliver to this area ...which was fine I just said I want a refund and they agreed would be couple days and get a refund . I've rang them many times to ask where my refund is they still haven't given my money back at all and no longer answering the calls . shameful . So be careful making any orders online with them.

Appalling is an understatement. Where do I even begin?? Firstly, there was a massive lack of understanding from the woman I spoke to. Maybe because English is not her first language as she said she was new. I had to repeat myself 4 times for the same order. Secondly, the food arrived late and cold. I didn't want to reheat because that is never advisable. I don't even want a refund. They can keep the money. Hopefully it will help improve their standards and services.

So disappointed in China garden , won't be a returning customer. Been coming here for years but recently have had too many bad experiences. Food takes about 2 hours, and when the food turns up, it's cold, and the chips are uneatable. Tried calling them 20 times but no luck. They keep putting up the prices , and keep taking more orders then they can handle, but for them it's all about making money and not caring about there customers .

Wasted £27 of food! Looked forward to our takeaway and this was vile, crispy beef had no beef, chicken chowmein was slimy and had a fishy taste to the chicken. Spicy pork was not at all spicy. Really didn't enjoy and binned the lot. Won't be ordering again

We ordered through just eat, and 40 minutes later after trying to cancel the order and phone the restaurant, a text came through that China Garden had just cancelled the order as they could not make it. 40 minutes to be told this is just ridiculous, 10 mins would have been reasonable, but it's gone passed the expected delivery time and only just told it wouldn't be coming

Had to go through UberEats customer service and even they couldn't reach them. After 2.5h of waiting the order had to be cancelled, had guests over that were starving waiting for food, runed my evening. I'm in customer service as well and I am probably the most understanding person when it comes to hospitality and restaurants, but the fact noone bothered to acknowledge me for 30min is ridiculous. Not worth the effort.
