I've loved this place for almost 20 years. The sushi is delicious, and the servers are so friendly.
I love Cowtown Sushi! We’ve been coming here for 10+ years and the food is always great, service is quick and friendly. Highly recommend the Sundance Roll and Paradise Roll!
Oh my god, if I could give this place a million stars, I would! We were a party of three and ordered a bunch of menu items, all of which were delicious. I had the paradise roll and thought it was awesome! Rolls were perfect, soft shell crab was delectable, and service was top notch!! This is my favorite sushi that I’ve tried so far!
Update 2025: Still one of our very favorite places for sushi in Ft. Worth! Update 2021: This place is still our favorite place for Sushi in all of Ft. Worth! The Mount Fuji and Paradise have been our two favorites over the years, although we have tried many others that are all very good, too. Original post 2014: We have been going to this restaurant for many years and our whole family loves it! We have celebrated birthdays, high school graduations, Christmas Eve, and New Year's Eve. We consider it really great food for a really great price!!!
With a name like Cowtown Sushi, you cannot help but pause. But, you cannot tell a book by its cover, nor its name. Step inside and you will be pleasantly surprised. A quick ordering process leads into the first if a steady stream of rolls. Fresh and fantastic, our gluttony did not kill our bank account. Attentive staff saw to our needs and gave us a great experience. We have found our new sushi home.
Great food and friendly service as always. Has been my favorite little sushi spot for over 15 years. Hubby and I love gettibg Mt. fuji with Philidelphia rolls plus one or two others when we visit for a great mix of flavors and textures.
It was good. The snapper was good. The scallops and mayo was really good. The singles of tuna sushi we're good but the tuna roll was skimpy on the tuna. The squid was good and cut diagonally across the grain which helped bit be softer. The salmon was pretty much as it always is. They were out of mackerel and fluke. The wasabi was just a tad harsh. Saki was good. Martini decent/good. Waitress was very nice and prompt/helpful. The fried was just ok, have had better.
I'm so glad that I was given the opportunity to visit this hidden Southlake gem. Mimi was fantastic and I was quite surprised to find a fresh and tasty sushi place tucked away in strip mall. The Cajun Salmon and Tuna was unlike any sashimi that I've ever had. We'll definitely be back!
Cowtown has been our go to sushi place in this area of the DFW for close to a decade. We really love the food and the service here. There have been a lot of changes in the area and they are kind of hampered by construction in the area. It's definitely worth going. You will love it.
Celiac Friendly. I came around lunch And they worked with me on what I could have and not have. It was just amazing. They were informative. They knew the allergies and they made my lunch experience here a delight.
This is by far the BEST sushi that you will find anywhere in the area. Don’t be fooled by the size or location. Everything they serve is fresh and their rolls and sashimi are the best. We have been to every major city in America and have yet to find a sushi restaurant that has this quality; and the staff is awesome as well!
Came here while visiting family in Ft. Worth. Brought the grandkids, as they love sushi too! It was really fun and good food. Will definitely be back next time we're in the area.
Surprisingly awesome sushi. Fish is high quality and the presentation is beautiful. I thought this was just going to be another generic Japanese restaurant catered towards South Lakers, boy was I wrong. This is coming from somebody who's traveled Japan. Definitely worth checking out.
Such a wonderful place! We've been coming here for 4 years now, and though the staff may have changed... the quality hasn't!! My favorite is the classic California roll, and I always ask for extra sauce!
Small, quiet, nicely decorated, friendly owners. All the food we tried was very good, we would for sure go again
We love going here. It’s always fresh, consistent, fast and friendly, They have excellent specialties like the Keller Roll we love. Their sauces are delicious. The rolls are large so sharing is a good idea. There is a full menu with other items for non sushi eaters. It’s family owned and in this Southlake/Keller location for years so definitely where the locals go.
Hands down the best sushi in Keller, Southlake and NRH. Not only do they have amazingly fresh fish, but their specialty cuts are absolutely perfect. One of the only place's that have otoro "fatty tuna" and blue fin. But not just the fish, the sushi chef takes time and care into every dish he makes. Recommend 10 out of 10
With the dozens and dozens of sushi restaurants in Dallas Fort Worth area, most of them fall under the category of good to very good. However, it’s a rare find to discover a sushi restaurant that is consistently great in all aspects, especially in the quality and presentation of the food....and Cowtown Sushi is such a place. We have eaten here numerous times, and each time I’m reminded at the outstanding quality and taste of the food. Whether my daughters ordering chicken fried rice, or the many unique sushi dishes that I order for my wife and I, it is always delicious! Pros: - Outstanding quality of the sushi and other food! - Beautiful presentation - Very attentive. The Sushi Chef’s and the wait staff frequently check up on you to make sure you have enough ginger, and even ask if you would like ponzu sauce. - Delicious entrées and incredibly delicious sushi. - Best Ika (squid) anywhere I’ve had in the DFW area. The scallops are also deliciously prepared. In fact, my only regret is I don’t have a large enough stomach to indulge further 😄. Please be sure to check out this gem of a sushi restaurant located at the corner of Davis Boulevard in Southlake Boulevard...in the Urban Air Trampoline park shopping.
I have found my new favorite roll...... I go to alot of places and Cowtown knocks it out of the park! Manuel and Appuh (hope I spelt his name right) know what they are doing!!!
I ordered the soft shell crab and lobster 🦞 roll. Both were top of the line. Not to mention the ambience and service. We are coming back to try the rest of the special rolls.
The three tuna martini and hybrid role make this place stand out, even against other great sushi places. Ask for fresh wasabi if you haven't tried it before, but if you have, bear in mind it is minced rather than ground.
Consistently the best sushi in the area. Top quality, lovely presentation, large menu of rolls. Always a good experience. Some places are fancier, but Cowtown is better food.

Some of the beat sushi you will find in DFW. Period. Do yourself a favor and drop in, you won’t regret it.
Premium sushi. Affordable prices. Came for lunch and the waitress Cathy was very helpful.
My family has spent the last few years looking for what we believe to be the best sushi near us. We all love Cowtown Sushi because of the consistency and quality of their menu. The staff is always friendly and attentive and the atmosphere is cozy and inviting. It's nice enough for a date, but not overly stuffy. The pride in the craft is apparent not only in the taste, but also in the presentation, especially the Mt Fuji roll that has become a must have on the list of rolls we order during a visit. If I had to point out a flaw, it would only be the halogen track lighting, while mostly well controlled and balanced so you can see your food and dining companions a handful of seat positions in the restaurant get the spotlight effect and it can be straining on your eyes.
Great product and the price was awesome. Get the MtFuji roll.
Went here on a quiet Sunday evening. Food was delicious and fresh!
Great sushi made fresh. Service is impeccable.

My wife is pretty fond of this place. This is another example of average Texas sushi in that the menu is so similar to every other sushi restaurant around. I give the extra star for the extra care they do with garnishing and the decor, which has a modern vibe.
For land-locked Texas, the sushi is consistently good. Service is always attentive. Very good tempura. Love the darker atmosphere in the evening - except around Christmas when they spoil it with Christmas lights that are too bright.
Good fresh Sushi. If you dont like your sushi done up trendy style (unique sauce garnishments) this isn't your place. Service is good. Food is fresh and tasty. Great spot. ..
Good sushi, average priced. The only thing I wish they had were pictures on their menu's. Quiet little place that wasn't busy at all when my office crew an I went at 1:00 p.m.
Cowtown Sushi has really good food at great prices! Their lunch special is one of the best deals around — fresh, tasty sushi at a very affordable price. Everything I tried tasted amazing and was made with quality ingredients. The only reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 is just because there’s always room for a little improvement, but overall it’s a great spot and definitely worth checking out!
Love coming here, have been visiting for several years. It's always good, always friendly. First time getting take out tonight. Still yummy but honestly if you can, dining in is with it for the atmosphere, presentation and little extras you get on your plate.
Best sushi in Southlake! Cowtown has a fantastic, relaxed atmosphere and the best fried rice anywhere. Several visits ago we got a whiff of the most delicious smell we've ever smelled. We realized it was the fried rice bowl from the next table over. We had to order some of our own and it didn't disappoint. Amazing with a great garlic taste! Now we have to get a bowl or two every time. As for the rolls, try the Mt. Fuji Roll! It's colorful deliciousness on a plate. You've got shrimp tempura, crab, cream cheese, avocado, wrapped in rice and served over spicy mayo.

Had lunch here today. I was totally alone except for one to go customer. Which is a shame because the lunch combo was affordable and the sushi was great. Hopefully they have a better crowd at night! My only sort of negative was the server. She seemed very nice but literally from the moment I walked in I had to initiate every contact. She could have been new or possibly just filling in. Just not the usual personality for that. But she did offer a refill on my drink! So that was good. I tipped well because it maybe the only tip she was going to get during her shift if more customers didn't show. I hope people will try it!

The food was great, the service was awful - we felt very, very rushed we got there around at 8 oclock and were rushed to order, and also rushed even more to eat and were even told they were closing at 9. As it got closer to that time the pressure to get us out was overwhelming so we left and didn't even get a chance to finish our drinks, then I went online to check their hours operation only to find at on Saturday hours are 5-9:30 PM, this is not only bad customer service but very bad for their own business. We noticed when we got there at 8:00 there was only 2 people there, maybe the word it out not to go there around closing due to the overwhelming pressure by staff to get you out of there?
Food is so/so. Typical sushi, nothing special. They answer the phone about 1/2 the time so it’s really hard to get takeout unless you want to wait there after you order. Inside has very little atmosphere.
Really disappointed with the process the sushi chefs used the last time I was there. The table next to me ordered 8 different rolls and a bunch of sushi. I watched order after order come to their table and none of mine came out. During that time the hot plate order for my fiancee came out from the kitchen. So I'm sitting there twiddling my thumbs. Another 5-8 minutes later my food started arriving. I was really surprised to see this. Usually sushi restaurants trickle out orders across their customers. Their timing was really off that night. After dinner concluded, I asked to speak to manager or owner (discretely at the cash register). Apparently neither were available so I left my cell number and asked for a callback. A week later and still no call. At a time when more competition is moving into the Southlake area (RA Sushi Bar), it's a poor time to fall down on service. I've been going there for a long time and enjoy the food, but this was VERY disappointing.
Good food, one bad roll. Felt rushed the entire time and had a poor dining experience. If you want quick good sushi, good call. If you want a dining experience , not my place.
The waitress gave us our ticket and I asked for a tea to go (tea is $2.50) and she said "oh, okay, hold on." And took the ticket back to add a $1.50 charge FOR A TO-GO TEA!!! I have NEVER had this happen to me anywhere.... Ever!! I found it very rude! I understand wanting to make money, but come on.... Really!?!
They don't know how to make Katsudon. Why would you put fishcakes and mushrooms into an egg, onion, and fried pork dish. I don't want my Katsudon to taste like fish....
Restaurant is dark and does not smell great. Waitress and Sushi Chef we're helpful and friendly. We ordered three different rolls (one baked and two fresh) the sushi rice was chewy...odd.
Sushi was not good. Service was ok which is why I gave it 2 stars. Unfortunately the fish didn’t taste fresh and was slimy. I only ate a few bites out of the 4 rolls we ordered. Wish it was better because it’s so close to our house.
This review genuinely makes me sad to write. Cowtown Sushi used to be our go to spot. We moved to Southlake this past Summer and I have easily ordered from here probably a hundred times. Sushi is a weekly staple for our family and we have spent thousands of dollars between dine in, takeout, and many lunch orders. I almost never write negative reviews, especially as a business owner myself, but this is no longer a one off experience. It has been ongoing from day one. The issue is not the food. The chefs are excellent. The sushi is fresh, creative, and consistently delicious. If I could order directly from the kitchen, I would. The problem is the service, specifically one server (middle aged, glasses, short hair). Every single time she is our server, the experience is unpleasant. This is not occasional, not dependent on how busy it is, and not something that started recently. She has been this way since the very first time we encountered her, before she even knew us. There is no greeting, no warmth, no smile. She appears visibly annoyed by customers, rushes interactions, and makes you feel like you are inconveniencing her just by being there. Any request, even something very simple, is met with resistance and visible frustration. She acts as though she is giving you the world by agreeing, even when the chefs regularly accommodate these requests and have done so many times. It often feels like a power struggle rather than customer service. She never smiles and consistently makes you feel badly for asking for anything at all. This is not just our experience. We have recommended Cowtown Sushi to several friends, and all of us now cringe when we see that she is the server. Multiple friends have shared the same feedback independently and have also stopped going because of the service. Our final straw was a small advance lunch order for my daughter’s birthday at school. This is something we have done many times before. We place the order the day prior so it is ready shortly after opening so I can get to school before the lunch period ends. The chefs have always been fine with this. She doesn't typically work during the day, but there she was and of course I was met with pushback, frustration, and repeated resistance, as if the request was unreasonable. She wanted me to call in the oder the next day at 11am when they open. Finally she said, "Ok, I'll have to ask the chefs." When I asked to speak with an owner to share broader concerns about service, no contact information was provided. We ended up taking our order elsewhere, and the difference was night and day. Friendly, accommodating, and appreciative. The way you expect to be treated as a customer. There also seem to be ongoing operational issues. Frequently there are no paper menus available. We have been given reused (no joke, actual used or dirty order sheets with previous orders crossed out). Often there is only one server handling all dine in and takeout, which only amplifies the stress and poor experience. This is such a shame because the chefs are doing everything right. The food is excellent and the chefs themselves are kind and professional. Unfortunately, the service overshadows all of it. We have stopped ordering altogether, which we never thought we would say. If the service ever improves, we would happily return. Until then, we will be taking our business elsewhere.
Amazing sushi, unfortunately they were more worried about going home at 8:30 on a Friday than providing customer service. We watched them turn away three hungry families at 8:00, clearly they don't want the business. Bathroom toilets were also extremely dirty. Staff rushed out so quick after we left, we know things didn't get cleaned properly. Unfortunately this business is not concerned about customer service during a pandemic. You will find us at sushi Sam's who are grateful and outstanding. We will not be coming back.
Google says they are open until 10, we walked in at 8:10 and the server says they close at 8:30 and not taking new tables. ( the restaurant had 2 of the 10 tables filled, otherwise empty. So I guess unless you show up 2 hours before closing you won’t get sat. That’s okay we went to Sushi Sam’s a mile up the road and it was delicious. Highly recommend going there instead!
On their website, their hours are till 10pm on week nights. However we were turned away when we got there at 8pm today! Very disappointed as we were there to celebrate a birthday and the server there was very rude. Zero customer service. We went to SUSHI ZEN instead. Hands down best sushi in town!!
Reduced from 5 to 1 stars!!!! Dont be surprised if you make a to go order and they close their doors 15 minutes early and refuse to even open the door to inquire as to why you might want to pick up to food your ordered. Ridiculous! Tried to screen shot time on my phone but it wont show.

The chicken teriyaki (more like chicken teriyucky) looks and tastes like fake processed chicken. Maybe it was supposed to be grilled, but it was pale and sad. It was not good. There are no veggies to go with it, just a bit of shredded lettuce. I will not go back. For the price, you could go ANYWHERE else.
