If you are a white-collar , the price is definitely OK, which is equivalent to their service quality, but if you are a blue-collar , you will feel that it is not cheap when you come here. The service staff is fully trained to be the best among all the restaurants on this road. It is not a high-end decoration, but very warm. The food is impeccable, definitely a great place for special occassions.
My husband and I really enjoyed our experience overall here. The food was SOO GOOD. Service was fast and very knowledgeable. Turtle soup was good & interesting to try. We tried an appetizer with 3 diff topped cooked oysters which were all Good. Ahi Tuna appetizer was okay wasn’t really a fan of the sauces that come with it. My son got blackened red drum and grilled shrimp SO GOOD. My husband got the crawfish smothered pork chops grits and loved everything except the pork chops themselves. I got the fresh catch of the day which I can’t remember what it was blackened with creole topping SO GOOD. Fried green tomatoes are also SO GOOD!!! it was my bday and they treated me to key lime pie which was also fantastic. We sat right next to the window and had a very nice view of the bay.
Felix's Fish Camp is an absolute gem nestled in Spanish Fort, Alabama. From the moment we stepped inside, we were transported to a coastal oasis. The elegant yet family-friendly atmosphere, coupled with stunning Gulf views, created a truly memorable dining experience. But let’s talk about the food – it was nothing short of extraordinary. The oysters on the half shell were a revelation; buttery, briny perfection. The three soft shell crabs were cooked to crispy, golden perfection, and the meat was sweet and succulent. I’m still dreaming about them. Now, the crab soup. I’ll admit, I was skeptical when they boasted about its award-winning status. "Everyone says that," I thought. Well, they were right. This soup was in a league of its own. Rich, flavorful, and packed with crab, it was a culinary masterpiece. We couldn’t resist trying the one-one-one, a trio of their signature soups – crab, turtle, and gumbo. Each was exceptional, and together they were a symphony of flavors. The service was impeccable. Our table was constantly attended to by a friendly and efficient waitstaff. We never had to wait for anything, and every request was met with a smile. Ample parking on-site made our arrival and departure hassle-free. Felix's Fish Camp is a must-visit for seafood lovers. It’s a place where fresh, delicious food meets impeccable service and breathtaking views. We can’t wait to return.
I can NOT say enough about this restaurant! It was recommended to us by a friend and I'm tempted to send them a thank you basket for it! From the moment you drive up you're experience has begun! The sea shanty atmosphere outside echoes within! We received a table right away and we had a big beautiful view of the baby right from our seat! Everything we put in our mouths was delectable! From calamari to turtle soup to white/dark chocolate bread pudding...it all was amazing! I WILL BE BACK! Maybe even this trip! 😂
What a great place on the bay! Service was super (thanks Abby), and food was top notch. Wish we had room for dessert, but we ordered way too much food because we couldn't decide. Fried green tomatoes, shrimp cocktail Constantine, calamari, gumbo, breaded whitefish and fried shrimp, oh my! Old fashioned was on point too. All with a great water view! Heard good things about the place and it did not disappoint. Thank you Felix Fish Camp for a memorable night.
Highly recommend Felix's Fish Camp. The local Cobia was grilled perfectly; moist and tasty! Giant, plump, juicy and briny, raw oysters were a delish. Collards tasted just like Mom's. Most excellent service from Kayla! Staff was no nice to pack my to-go oysters on ice so they'd be cold and safe for my hour-long drive home. Lovely views of the bay. I will be back!
I'm not sure I've had an experience like this before! This place is so unique with the decor and all (and thank God for the elevator for my sis in law that has a hard time getting around sometimes), the server was so super sweet and did a great job of explaining our options and she created a mental picture of each entree she described and what we got was exactly as she said!! What I LOVED is that when our food came out, there was a 1:1 ratio for servers to patrons. All of our plates (there was 8 of us) were literally laid before us at the very same moment. It was like a choreographed moment that added flavor to the food! So dang impressed!!! We felt catered to and our needs anticipated before we even realized it! I've not had such a great experience like in a very long time! Well done!
Such a great dining experience! Wait time was over an hour for main dining room so we tried the bar. Found a high top with an amazing view of the Bay! Service was excellent! Note their attention to detail- everyone at the table is served at the same time! The addition to live music made the experience fabulous! We started with fried crab claws and crab soup. Both were great. Entrees included sautéed white fish (catch of the day) topped with crab Oscar and fried soft shell crabs on top of fried green tomatoes. Very good food!
Kendall was a new server, but was fantastic! You can tell they care about training. Food was outstanding! Raw oysters were huge and delicious. I don’t know why the menu said to go to Ruth’s Chris for a steak because theirs is amazing! Add the crab hollandaise, you won’t regret it.
Great local eatery with great views variety of seafood, streaks, salads, and soups. The popular restaurant is large but gets pretty busy so if you don't have a reservation or not sitting at the bar be prepared to wait. The staff was super friendly and extremely helpful starting from the moment you walk in the door. Our waiter split a large platter in two and the manager recommended some local destinations. We are definitely coming back for more oysters and the she crab soup
I came here while traveling for work. This has been the absolute best experience, I have had at a restaurant in A LONG TIME! Hayden was my server and from the time I sat down he treated me like royalty. He was personable, attentive, patient, knowledgeable on the menu and just overall sweet. The menu options are vast and it took forever to know what I wanted because EVERYTHING looked sooo good. The food was absolutely AMAZING and the views are unmatched. Not to mention the cocktails are unique and well crafted. I started with the crab soup and Caesar Salad. Every spoonful of the soup was full of fresh meat. I then ordered the catch of the day (fried snapper) and added the crab meat Oscar on top, with the brown rice, and fried green tomatoes. All of the food was well seasoned and delicious. I will definitely return every time I visit.
The best seafood restaurant I have been to in years!! Everything we had here was so flavorful and tasty. I highly, highly recommend the grilled snapper or any fish on the menu. The macaroni and cheese is delicious and the perfect mix of flavor, cheese and perfectly cooked noodles. They have amazing grits and don't even get me started on their soups!! The crab soup is award winning for a reason and the gumbo is very tasty as well. I can't wait to go back here to try more dishes.
I am a senior citizen who's done a fair share of traveling. I found this restaurant online. I'm working here for a week from CA . I can honestly say this was one of the best meals I've ever had in my life! I tried the Crab Soup, It was amazing! I ordered the catch of the day with 2 sides. My grilled fish came with a crab cake on top & a decadent sauce. I ordered greens and mushrooms on the side The greens were extra good as well. I highly recommend this place. I got lost finding it but it was worth my diligence. Rebecca was my server, she was amazing, kind and gave me some insight about the area. Thank you Felix's for a memorable experience. I'll try to stop by one more time before I go home.I'm only here two more days.
Beautiful ocean view restaurant with excellent service and food! The variety of seafood menu made us take a while to decide on an order 🤭 The signature CRAB SOUP crab 🦀 was excellent from the beginning. We ordered the sauteed fresh-catch fish, which was great but too salty and spicy for me to eat. Original fish tacos were great! I love that. Also, Truffle Fried Potatoes was awesome if you are a potato/French fries freak, must order it 😆
Felix's was AMAZING! Love the decor and fit our vibe perfect! The food........Also AMAZING, my wife loved her fish stuffed with crab meat and she raved about the sweet tea. I had to try her fish as well and yeah, its pretty awesome! and the Shrimp, also amazing! We really enjoyed our time there and hope to return one day, Felix's...... your really caught our heart as well as our taste buds!!!!! Much love from Wisconsin!
Traveled from Florida to do some shopping and decided to grab lunch due the awesome reviews. Everything was delicious! The presentation was beautiful especially my mimosa. The staff were super welcoming and friendly. All attentive and clearly willing to help one another with waiting on their customers. From all of Okaloosa and Santa Rosa county Florida I had yet to find a place that actually made calamari perfectly yet alone everything perfectly. I will most definitely be taking the trip back.
I read a few of the bad comments and almost didn't stop by this place, what a pleasant surprise! We eat out a lot and the service in this place was out of this world. Never had to stare at a dirty dish and our drinks were always full. The steak was cooked perfect; we ordered the tuna and crab soup as appetizers and were also great. We did not give desert a try. At the end of the meal, the waiter asked if we would like a cup of coffee, he even warmed my mug with hot water at the table. I will definitely be back.
After traveling extensively along the East Coast, my family and I found ourselves stumbling upon one of the most memorable dining experiences we’ve ever had. From the moment we spotted the restaurant from the highway, the energy drew us in—and the moment we stepped closer, it was clear we were in for something special. The atmosphere, the hospitality, and most of all the food completely surpassed our expectations. Amber, our server, was exceptional: warm, professional, and attentive. Every dish was a delight. This place has earned a permanent spot in our top 3 restaurants—we’ll be back
Our visit to Felix’s was lovely! Our group of 5 went for a sunset dinner (highly suggested) and even though we didn’t get a window table, the view was spectacular. There’s shrimp and grits was outstanding and the fresh catch was also notably delicious. There’s shrimp restaurant was packed but our server was prompt and kept our drinks full. Amazing place to dine!
Don't judge a book by its cover, mom always said. That is sound advice for Felix's. While it may not be much to look at, once you are inside, you are in for a great time. From our initial greeting by our host to the seating and introduction to our server, I knew this was an establishment that trains its staff in service. At no time were there any water glasses empty, yet we never felt interrupted. No small feat, to be sure. When it came time to order, no question was left unanswered as the server knew her menu inside and out. We had appetizers and entrees. There were four of us and four servers laid each dish on the table at the same time... from the left. You just don't expect this kind of service from a tourist, off the highway restaurant. The apps and entrees were delicious, and the local beers complimented each. Get there early and find a table with a view. If I ever return to Mobile, Felix's is what's for lunch.
We stopped at Felix’s Fish Camp over the July 4th weekend during our RV adventure, and it was an excellent choice. First off — plenty of space to park our RV and tow car, which made everything easy from the start. The food and service were both top-notch. The oysters were impressively large and full of flavor, definitely a standout. Everything we ordered was fresh and well-prepared, and the staff made us feel right at home. An added bonus was the beautiful view of the battleship across the water — a memorable touch for the holiday weekend. We’ll definitely be stopping here again the next time we pass through the area. Highly recommend!
Coming from out of town I as looking to find something authentic, fresh and full of flavors. The second I seen the building I knew this is what I was looking for. Fell in love with the decor and the food was amazing. Every single plate we ordered was done to a perfection. From the portions served to the flavors. LOVED EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS PLACED.
What’s not to love about this place?! Was on a road trip w my mom who is incredibly picky. Asked a friend who lives nearby for a recommendation on where to stop for a bit of seafood and he said without a doubt go to Felix’s…so we did. Great spot! Samantha was super friendly, every dish was delicious, everything decorated so fun!!
Step back into a time when food was an experience and service was pleasurable. This place has a great laid back ambience with non stop charm. The staff was amazing, the food was delicious and the price tag was very reasonable. I'd suggest a reservation to get a great view, but not necessarily needed. I'll brag on the crab soup as it was one of the best that I've eaten. Extremely rich in both flavor and crab. Whatever you order, expect the best. Enjoy.
Over all the best food we’ve had so far in Mobile. The hostess need to control the crowed better. We seen people fighting over tables. Walking out we heard there was an hour wait. Ha not at that rate. Stand at the bar n wait for someone to get up n u have a table. They need better crowd patrol. It wasn’t enjoyable having people stair at u eating. But overall the food was great n the service was great.
The oysters here are quite good. The crab cake, however, may contain small pieces of shell, so if you have children, be cautious when letting them eat it. Also, I felt that the Brown Rice at $5 was overpriced, especially considering that a hearty Seafood Gumbo bowl costs only $10.
Great meal at Felix’s Fish Shack this evening I had Fried snapper, jalapeño hush puppies, fried green tomatoes and turnip greens and an old fashioned and then ordered a side salad to go with my leftover fish for lunch tomorrow So delicious The server Caleb was very attentive- but not Too much so…and even brought me some honey for my hush puppies (apparently unheard of in these parts). The drink was well mixed and better than the one I had in Kentucky recently. The view is beautiful- I suggest you go early if you don’t have reservations and want to see the view
Loved it! Loved the character, views were beautiful. Service was great (Patrick was a great server- always refilling our drinks before asked, great suggestions on food and just interesting to talk to about the area), and the food was delicious! Loved the 1-1-1 (soup flight). House Salad was unique and good.
I only have good things to say about this restaurant! This was my first time going, and I was with a party of 20+. Our server DAVID was amazing and he did most of the work himself. Although, with such a large party, other staff stepped in and helped as well. All the staff members were friendly and I never had an empty glass. The food was very good as well. I got the shrimp and grits, with a side of mushrooms. We had several different appetizers - spinach dip, spicy shrimp, oysters & crab claws. Many different deserts - cheese cake, key lime pie and some kind of biscuit that was SO good! Another shoutout to DAVID! Thank you!
Came in from out of town with my family and had such a great experience. The service was amazing all around, not just our knowledgeable waiter, but the host and every team member we interacted with. You could really tell they work well together as a team. We had our one-year-old with us, and they were very accommodating, even offering a kid-style meal though it wasn’t formally on the menu, which we really appreciated. Just a heads-up for anyone specifically looking for crab to crack — this spot specializes more in soft-shell crab. Prices were reasonable, the food was incredible, drinks were excellent, and the waterfront view was beautiful. You’ll probably want a reservation for a window seat, but even where we were seated we could still enjoy the view and the great ambiance. Would absolutely recommend.
Tables were set with lighted candles and an ocean view, creating a beautiful atmosphere. Our waitress, Amanda, took great care of us and filled our table with amazing dishes—fried green tomatoes, fresh oysters, Colby fish, red fish and shrimp with turnip greens, hush puppies, salad, and a roll. The only small downside was the roll, which was a bit tough. Everything else was delicious, the food was affordable, and we definitely enjoyed this great find.
We were traveling through Mobile on my wife's birthday and decided to try this place. Everything was amazing. The crab soup (really a bisque) was literally with writing home about. The fish (cobia), festive holiday drinks, and key lime pie were delicious. The service was excellent and they really made my wife feel special in her birthday. We plan to return on our next trip through Mobile.
Fantastic food and fantastic service! Fine dining in down home style. Doesn’t look like much from outside but the best food and service I have experienced in years. Highly recommend it.
Great dinner with friends. The menu has a little something for everyone, but the seafood stands out. The cocktails are good and at a reasonable price. The service was excellent. If you are in the area I would highly recommend you give this place a try, you won't be disappointed!
Me and my family are visitors from Miami and it was our first time when we visited this restaurant 2 days ago, but the food was amazing, the half and half crab-chowder soup was my favorite out of all the dishes me and my family tried. I would love to go to Alabama again and visit this amazing restaurant. :) Also if David Miller read this, come home the kids miss you 😉 -Adrie
I recently moved away from Pensacola, Florida, and I think of Felix's often... This place is fantastic- I have never had something I did not love. In particular, the crab soup is a local favorite, and I always get a bowl when I come here. Literally everything they have is delicious; even my coworker who does not eat seafood loves their steak. That is a good sign! The location is fantastic, you are barely off the water. The service has always been top notch, whether it was just my wife & I or a group of 12 after work. Love Felix's!!
Don't let the outside looks fool you - it's a real gem and incredibly spacious and well-thought out inside. I'd like to say thanks for Jamie for making it a great customer experience outside of the food. The food all comes out at the same time and is double checked by the staff before it comes out to the table. I came here with my parents and we had the one-one-one soup, crayfish tail po boy, blackened European sea bass oscar style, and blackened redfish with French fries, fried green tomatoes, and succotash as the sides. Be sure to get a side of remoulade to kick things up a notch. The food was so good, my dad ordered an extra pint of gumbo to go - in his words, "the best gumbo he's ever had." My dad was not shy in saying this was the best food experience he's had in Alabama. And we look forward to more excellent experiences in the future when we come back. Thank you Felix's!
The outside decor is in juxtaposition to the service. Rusty and rough but water views are very nice. Service was very professional and worthy of fine dining restaurants; all the people at the table were served their entrees at the same time. Food was excellent. Fish was fresh and the fried oysters were done perfectly.
Excelente lugar para disfrutar comidas del dolfo
Excelente servicio y excelente comida
Fantástica comida y fantástica atención
Se come delicioso
10 out of 10!! It was a great atmosphere for my Grandmother’s 85th Birthday. The servers were kind, courteous and helpful to our every need. They checked on us regularly and we never felt rushed. Such a great place to have our family together and would definitely recommend. The team even cut the cake and sang happy birthday!! Great job to the servers at Felix’s, you have set the bar high!
Excelente servicio y deliciosa comida.
Servicio excelente y buena comida
Excelente restaurante, muy recomendable.
Muy bueno
Excelente comida y buenos precios
Service and the restaurant were great. Great view and great people! Soup trio is a must have or just the crab soup is you are so inclined. It is fantastic!! The truffle fries appetizer was also extremely good. My complaints are with the crab cake, mushrooms, and hushpuppies. The crab cake did not have much crab, the mushrooms were not hot, and the hushpuppies supposedly had jalapeños but I couldn't find any. That said, the triggerfish was nicely seasoned and very tasty. It was the little things that kept me from giving Felix's 5 stars.
The food here great, and so was the service. This must be an established restaurant in the area because it was packed when we arrived. The only thing that caught my attention, and as we were traveling, was the LEO posted outside. This is an automatic red flag for me as business do not post LEOs unless they have had issues with patrons or locals, but it turned out to be a great place to eat. The Shrimp and Grits was awesome.
So here is my honest review.. view is awesome, my cobra and entre were truly awesome! Service super awesome I'm talking 5 star awesome. Now the drinks were very weak and not well mixed and over priced. The sides macaroni and mushrooms were less than good. That being said we still had a great time!
Our family had an incredible experience at this restaurant. The food was absolutely phenomenal, and the service was top-notch. From the moment we arrived, everything exceeded our expectations. The staff’s attention to detail, especially the way the waitresses presented the dishes, truly stood out. One dish that everyone agreed was a standout was the she crab soup—it was simply unforgettable. This is definitely one of those must-visit spots if you’re in the area. It’s perfect for large groups, and we were seated and served surprisingly quickly. We highly recommend this restaurant for its amazing food, excellent service, and overall fantastic atmosphere. Don’t miss it!
Seafood is definitely fresh here. I would definitely recommend the fresh catch, and any other seafood option this restaurant offers. I give them credit for preparing the crustaceans with flavor. And the restaurant receives another 🌟 for its atmosphere and views of the bay during the sunset HOWEVER.. the steak or at least the filet mignon was NOT IT, could barely taste the salt on it and it lacked flavor honestly. Maybe the rib eye is better ? The cole slaw, potato, Mac and cheese sides all fresh. Fried crab legs and calamari were quite flavorful and even the turtle soup is underrated. My advice to this restaurant is to improve the steaks or do not offer it at all, it looked aesthetic but lacked a lot of flavor. I also tried the triggerfish special and it was delish. Serviceable was spectacular
Nosotros ordenamos pescado.
Food was average. I had the gumbo. It had a sweet undertone. I do not care for sweetish gumbo. The grilled scrimp Alfredo was dry. The shrimp on the pasta had a good taste. The steak was one of the best dishes. I best experience was the waitress (I think, Jamie). She was very attentive and patient.
Great spot to relax for lunch. Overlooking the bay. Definitely make reservations if you want to overlook the water. It doesn't look like much..but it is a well staffed, polite, real restaurant. There is a lot of great options for food. I'm not a soup person, but they have all been very good! There is a ton of parking and it is a big restaurant.
Buena comida y atención!
La apariencia exterior es demasiado descuidada. No hubiera entrado si no hubiera sido por las recomendaciones de varias personas.
Bastante bueno pero mucho picante en la comida
We had a nice dinner here but I expected more from them! Everyone raves about Felix's. Maybe we got the wrong stuff. There was a big party there so I understand they were busy. Drinks were great, fish we enjoyed, steak was not cooked medium rare. And for the price paid it just didn't feel right. Adding the crab on the top is a nice touch to the steak! The baked potato was good and the greens were decent. The roll is a yeast roll and it was nice and hot! Cheese grits are equivalent to waffle house. I love grits and these are just regular grits with cheese sprinkled on top. We are going to come back and give it another try and get different things! I will come back to update after our next visit.
The location is nice, the service okay the food - not so much. We visited yesterday for the first time. Got a table by the water. The food came very fast, everything fried and luke warm. Prices are definitely okay. On our way home all three of us got serious stomach issues. We had to stop several times and even get Peptobismol against the tummy pain. Not one of us but all three.
Arrived 1 hour before closing. Hostess tried to provide a seat in the corner out of the way of everyone and right next to the noisy kitchen door and drink station just in the other side of the partition. Reason given was “main dining room seating is closed”. I told her that’s not acceptable as there many empty tables and walked away. A young lady saw the look on my face and asked if she could help. I informed her of what the hostess said about sitting in the main dining area and that the corner cage was unacceptable due to the noise and ppl cleaning over there . She politely setup a table and gave great service. Guess it helps having someone that looks like me working there!
We had an ok experience. Our server lacked of service, she was trying to be nice but something was off. We did not get our appetizer. When the food arrived, the soup wasn’t hot enough. I didn’t bother to send it back. Soft shell crabs were really good!! Chicken Alfredo was one of the best I had, not a o soggy not to dry. When I asked for the bill, our waitress took a minute to get it and she had charged us for something we didn’t order. I asked her to remove it but it took her a while to get it fixed. We were getting aggravated. Food and atmosphere was really good but the lack of attention by the waitress made the meal not so pleasant.
This has always been our #1 spor. Called as we were coming back from shopping. Decided to call and ask if they had a wait as we were 5 minutes out and they stated "no". Once we arrived, parking lot was not near full and the girl asked us if we had reservations, proceeded to tell us there was a 1 1/2 hour wait. We were flabbergasted. We explained that we just called. The young lady said "you must have called the other Felixes". Then 2 more young girls walked up and proceeded to act like we were not being truthful. When we showed her the phone number, they all 3 questioned each other to see "who "may have taken the call. Then shrugged their shoulders. Their tone and wording was not professional at all. So we went across the road to R and R. Received great service from Amy over there and the food was excellent. Sorry to part with Felix...but good customer service is part of running a good restaurant.
