Fishbone's St. Clair Shores

Stopped in for dinner at this location. This was our first time at this one. The food was delicious and the service excellent! My daughter had the stuffed shrimp and I just had a house salad and stuffed mushrooms.

Love this place! The atmosphere is excellent and the food is just as good! We had a light dinner and ordered a couple of salads… they were delicious!!! Must check it out… especially now that the outside patio is open!

Yet another excellent evening here (we’re now considered “regulars”🤪👍). As always, our favorite appetizer (catfish beignets) and 2 entrées (this time, I enjoyed the Crawfish Étouffée, he had the St. Louis ribs). Great ambiance (as well as the live band) and our server (Morgan) and her helper made it an all-around great experience.

A safe bet in the Detroit area for fish and seafood lovers. Seafood gumbo, jambalaya and key lime pie are delicious. Spotless ample restaurant, nice ambiance, patio, huge aquarium. Super Sunday brunch and live music at dinner time on weekends.

My brother and I ate here, visiting from Houston. Food was very fresh as if they had just caught our catfish right when we ordered. We had the Lagniappe Platter and it was more than enough, great portions and great service as well. Would definitely recommend to anyone who loves seafood.

I had a delicious shrimp jambalaya here, and our waitress did a flaming saganaki by the table. The orange roughy fish was very good too.

Around a month ago my friend and I had dinner. Not only was the food delicious, but the service was even better. Ava, our waitress, went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. We really appreciate her dedication as a waitress.

I’ve been to Fishbones plenty of times—usually for the food (and maybe the occasional cocktail), but now it’s because I know I’ll actually enjoy myself when Donny’s working. The man runs his section like a well-oiled machine with a side of charisma. He was quick with every order, didn’t miss a beat, and even remembered the little details—like me asking for a plastic cup for the little one. Not only did he bring that, but he went the extra mile and showed up with a water complete with a lid and straw alongside her pop. That’s next-level hospitality right there. It’s rare these days to find a server who anticipates what you need before you even say it, but Donny’s that guy. From now on, when I walk through those doors, it’s not just for the jambalaya—it’s because I know I’m getting the Donny Experience.

I took my husband to dinner for our 37th anniversary. The greeter instantly escorted us to a table. I restroom really clean and stocked. Our waitress Eleanor was amazing and the food was excellent. Beautiful experience!

Our server Lilly couldn’t have treated us any better! Especially on our 40th wedding anniversary!! Mementos and love never dies. Thank you

Michaela the hostess was so wonderful. Super welcoming and probably was the best part of our experience there. We really wanted her to be our server so we could keep talking. But either way perfect person to set the atmosphere!!

Dined in this weekend for Valentines, first time experience. Was beyond amazing! Was greeted by the most friendly host I ever met. Michaela made sure my experience was great from the time I walked in the door and was greeted by her till the time I left out the door. Service was great. Food beyond great. Thanks for making my weekend special!

First time here the rolls with butter was delicious. My salmon salad was amazing and my Bahama Mama drink was good and strong. They even had a live band. Very nice place.

Been here a few times but had an experience on Monday 10/20 that deserves a review. 1st, I had a sushi roll as an app and as always it was fresh and very good. For an entree I got the Prime Rib Po boy. It was very good as all the things I have gotten here before. I wasn't sure what beer to get and Lyz and Taylor the bartenders, who are awesome and always do a great job, gave me several samples. Ended up with a Labats and was rightfully shamed a little for it, after having several craft beer samples. Now to the reason for this review. I had a small mishap with a crab cake, nothing major. I told Lyz about it, just for her information. Unbeknownst to me she informed a manager, not the reason I told her about it. James showed up and overly apologized and offered to make things right, which is not the reason why I told Lyz. The care and concern he showed over what to me was just a small thing really impressed me. Fish Bones should be proud to have people like Lyz, the manager James, and the other very good and personable bartender, Taylor, as representatives for their organization.

My daughter took me here on my birthday . The food was good but seems to be with much smaller portions. The waitress was decent. I'm not a fan of gratuity being already added, especially if it's just a party of 2. I pretty much like deciding to do my own, especially for the amount being spent...I've been here another time with my friend, he ordered a burger, she came back with fries on the side, he questioned it, she said it comes with it. We get the bill, we were literally charged $22.00 for a burger, pretty much charged for the fries..Then I noticed a white couple leaving their tip on the table, didn't order as much but, was wondering if only certain people have automatic gratuity added. The young couple didn't seem like the type to tip if it was already in the bill... you have to be alert with this place. They seem to add when not ordered and charge you at the end. Overall, I would go again.. just be more aware of what's going on..My friend and I came here one night, they had a descent band, was impressed but I noticed that there's noticed that Service charges took over gratuity..still the same if you do a comparison with my previous receipt.

3.5 star experience overall. I didn't eat the catfish po'boy I ordered because the fish looked undercooked. Plus it seemed to lack other sandwich ingredients. I've had better and cheaper at a takeout place. Seasoned fries were decent and the flaming cheese appetizer was fun to behold.

Everything was ok except for the batter on the alligator bites shrimp and catfish was a bit oily causing the batter to fall off easily and was moist not crunchy. Oil temp not hot enough possibly I don't know. Can see the oil on the alligator bites if the quality of the photo uploads fully. Other than that things were nice, bill was lower than I thought it was going to be so that was great. $104 with 4 drinks, which were great hurricanes are always delicious, they make there old fashions realy strong.

I ain't been to this location in probably over 20 years! It's a great location the gumbo Yaya was good, but not so spicy today. The drinks were good our service was kinda forced.

This place is pretty cool. Great place to watch the games, great bar and drink menu. The service was great and very communicative. Making reservations over the phone was easy, 15 minute grace period. I have a shrimp po’ boy was pretty good. I just felt they could have dressed it up a little more, their butter garlic was amazing on the rolls.

Our orders were quickly received and accurate, The waitress was very good and very accommodating. Best service we have seen this year. She took time to make sure we were taken care of. Food was delicious and excellent.

I had sushi and my husband had a catfish po' boy sandwich both were very good! Ava was such a grace server, I would like to sit in her section again! The one thing I was surprised about and not sure if I like it - they automatically put a service charge of 18% and I would have given 20% but we felt odd leaving only $2 to make it right -20%.

I have always loved Fishbones but I took exception to the waitress who took my order. I ordered the seafood pasta and she said that the order came with soup I ask if I could have any soup and she said yes so I ordered the soup I desired. When the bill came I was charged $10 for the soup. When I took her about the discrepancy she said that it was deemed as an appetizer and I said to her that that's not how she describe it. After also receiving a 18% gratuity as well. I'm never going back to the establishment again and the food didn't hit right after the experience. 👎🏾

Service and food are both Louisiana style, so settle in, this one be a quick in and out experience. The food does feel a bit overpriced, but I suppose they have a good atmosphere and seems like there's something for everyone.

I've been to this location many times. The service was bad but the server was great! She was attentive to our needs; however the food took an extremely long time to arrive to our tables. The food was delicious once it made it to the table. We did have a large party. I guess the thought of ever having any type of real customer service or any kind of service we had in the past is OVER! If you want to dine out you will have to learn patience. We will be made to learn patience one way or another.

I'm updating my review. I was just swiping through some of the 1 to 2 star reviews being left. I was shocked to see that "The Owner" has chosen to trash-talk his patrons that left negative reviews. It's not impressive at all. The customer did their part, out of all the choices they chose your restaurant, they even paid their bill, the owner even made a profit and rather than showing a modest form of professionalism "The Owner" chooses to antagonize the customer. Not a good look. I recommend heading to Zefs, or The Waves, Hook or even Pegasus....I know for a fact if you have a bad experience there, they'll work hard to make it right and not mock you. Past review: I don't know what I can tell ya that you should already know. It's a great place, good food, cold beer, solid cocktails, cool patio, fun but intimate inside and clean

Beautiful atmosphere. The food isn't like the fishbones down in Greek town so it was a little disappointing. Was not a fan of the red beans and rice.

The last few times I’ve gone here has been disastrous. Previous messed up orders were rectified. However, now I’m taking it personally. My pasta orleans and jambalaya had bad shrimp. I threw it all away. I can’t afford to get sick and I’m tired of complaining to them about their mess ups. I’m officially breaking up with you. Do better guys. Give the same quality of food dining as ordering online or via telephone. You guys need new/better management.

This review is in regards to their take out service. I have eaten dine-in dozens of time. Typically the foods quality and portions are great. I have found when I order take out the quality and portions are significantly smaller. Tonight I ordered a caesar salad with chipotle ranch and I added a chicken breast. The added chicken breast was $13.00. As pictured the $13.00 chicken breast was tiny, and I did not receive the correct dressing. I have ordered this exact same order as dine in and not only was the dressing correct but the portion of chicken was much larger. A little more attentiveness to having the correct order would be appreciated when we are spending as much as we are of their food. Disappointed and slightly irritated.

Saturday 6/25/22 Everything was great until it came down to customer service! The two of us stopped by to grab a quick bite before an event we had to get to. Although our server didn’t check on us, we were willing to look past that, until the person I was dining with noticed her sandwich was pink. The first image is hers, and the second is mine. When the server finally came around to check on us, it was time to head to our event. So when she came, we pointed out that the sandwich was pink and to which she replied to us, “That’s not pink.” Now, I understand that everyone may not have the same point of view when it comes to the color wheel, but even the texture was not close to the same as mine. The person I was dining with reiterated many times that she didn’t have a problem paying for the sandwich, but the server stormed away to get our check. When she came back, we requested the manager. The manager comes, asks what the problem is, and he’s showed the sandwich. The person I was dining with again states that she has no problem at all paying for it, to which the manager replies, “Well, tell me this, why did you wait until she brought the check to say something?” To which I relied, “We have an event to get to, and we were unable to reach the server beforehand.” The manager takes the food to the back, and then the sever comes back with the order removed from the bill. I just wish anyone would’ve stuck around longer to have a discussion like adults, because we only wanted to have the sandwich remade. That’s it. I’ve noticed that there are snarky remarks left behind to other reviewers, so I can somewhat see why we had the experience we did, especially in regards to us being within a certain demographic (a minority in St.Clair Shores). The artichoke and spinach dip was good, though.

Our recent visit to Fishbone’s for a birthday dinner left us with mixed feelings. The food was undeniably good, and we enjoyed the culinary offerings. However, our experience was marred by the subpar service provided by Lauren F, our server. We were a party of considerable size, spending over $300, and it's unfortunate that the service did not meet our expectations for such a special occasion. While the food deserves praise, the disappointing service left a sour note on our celebration. The server also tried charging 2 gratuities on top of over charging for our drinks. Great place just don’t ask for Lauren.

I ordered a chopped wedge salad (carry out) from the SCS location and was super disappointed. They had me choose two dressings, picked blue cheese and thousand island. The salad was not chopped, not even combined really, and there was no dressing. Plus the roll they gave me was extremely hard/ stale. Not good.

Fishbones used to be a place you could always rely on to good food and good service. For a some years now this place is a hit or miss. They sat us right in front of room the table bussers use. I understand coming out to see what tables may need attention but, why are you just standing, staring and whispering. The waitress for my table was extremely slow. I don’t understand why they cannot be utilized in other ways besides staring at the guest, whispering and laughing. I had to ask the waitress for bread two or three times after I saw her bring bread pass our table to some other tables. I’m guessing this made her upset. So she and the those who buss tables which included one women were packed in that small place doing something and a little after they dispersed one of the buss-boys comes to me with some bread that he brings out of small little room with some bread that came from that room. I think they got this bread off of someone else’s plate. Needless to say I didn’t eat it and asked them where that bread came from. We were told it came from kitchen. We could see the kitchen and could see food being brought out from the kitchen but he came from this trash room where they take all the left over food they clean the plates. I watch everything when I’m in a restaurant because I don’t trust the service nor the workers for good reason. I tell you what to tell everyone I run into about this. I don’t want anyone to have the experience I had. I will not be back to this place

It wasn't anything special. Overpriced for generic food. The door to get in is a far walk from the parking lot for those who have trouble getting around this is a problem. It's on a very busy corner so getting into the lot is cumbersome. The inside felt dated and had a musty smell. Our server was mediocre. They have been at this site for well over40 years, an update is due! Nothing special about this place! Not impressed.

We recently dined at Fish Bones in St. Clair. The food itself was pretty good! we ordered a several sushi rolls and enjoyed them overall. The Sapporo was solid, as expected. That said, the experience was definitely mixed. The sake was a bit overpriced for the portion size, which was disappointing. On top of that, the service was extremely slow. It took a long time to place our order, and once we did, our server wasn’t very attentive throughout the meal. What made it more frustrating was the automatic 18% gratuity added to the bill. I don’t have an issue tipping at all, I’m happy to tip well for good service but when gratuity is guaranteed and the service doesn’t reflect that level of care, it leaves a bad impression. It felt like the attentiveness just wasn’t there. There’s potential here because the food was decent, and the restaurant is really nice and spacious.

Food was TERRIBLE! The ribs were clearly boiled & then placed on some grill. The alligator bites were reheated from the day before! They were hard & chewy! The fries that came with the ribs were cold & soggy. Just terrible! The only saving grace was the bread & butter that comes with every order. Typically when I order from here, the food is freshly cooked & pipping hot. I usually order in the evening & this time around, I ordered a few hours after opening. Maybe that has something to do with the terrible food, although it shouldn't matter what time of day you order. I thought I could depend on them like in the past, but obviously not! What kind of response is that from an owner that is in the business of serving food to people? You would think that this person's attitude would be more accommodating & humble. People work hard for their money and with the quality of so many restaurants diminishing, people patronize restaurants they believe they can trust! After much deliberation with a family member about where we should we get our food, we picked the place we thought we could trust for a good hot meal. I've been disappointed by restaurants before, but your response makes our poor meal that much more disappointing, and it's your attitude that will keep us from eating there again.

They tried to scam and get our credit card through the call. We said no and came in and gave our order and this is all the food we received for $55. I would give you guys no stars if I could. Do not come here at all. I only ate 5 pieces of alligator voodoo. They also give false names here. Go downtown for Fishbones. This place is awful and be careful there is some lady in there trying to steal credit card info.

My husband and I, decided to come to this location we thought that it would be like the Fishbone's in Greek Town. A big disappointment. First his pop was carbon water, my pink lemonade was colored water. We sent those drinks back. This cat fish was under cooked, the steak was dry, and our baked potatoes were burned. We waited an hour for the food. The gumbo was just gravy, shrimp and rice. We won't be going back.

Don’t waste your time. My husband and I are at the Greek Town location on Monday got the shrimp Po’Boy which was delicious so we went on Thursday to the Saint Clair Shores location and they give you a lot less shrimp fries and the cole slaw was horrible but the price is the same. Waitress doesn’t have to work hard because they take 18% for tipping off the top. Go to the location downtown Detroit

I had the seafood gumbo. I wish I’d taken a picture. The shrimp was so small you could barely see it and the crab meat was non-existent. The roux was a light gravy color, not dark as described in the menu. I basically had rice and gravy. I’ve always liked anything from the downtown location. My first time at this one. I’m assuming they’re not affiliated.
