Very impressed with this place. Our first time dining here, it definitely left a lasting impression on me. A nice fine dining atmosphere and certainly the professionalism to match. Our service was solid all the way through and I appreciate all the staff we interacted with here. We split the lobster bisque to start and it is delicious. For my entree, I went with the Grouper (lots of great looking options but I was swayed by the gnocchi) and was far from disappointed. The fish was cooked perfectly and there was great depth of flavor with this dish. We also very much enjoyed our cocktails (very very solid Old Fashioned, for one). I definitely give this restaurant a strong recommendation! I’d love to return.

The atmosphere and food were wonderful but our server Alex was hands down the best!! He was professional, fun, prompt in service and did a great job making suggestions/recommendations for us that helped us have an amazing dining experience. We enjoyed our night and can’t wait to come back.

What an amazing experience, our server Adam was fantastic, infomative and always checking on us to ensure we were comfortable. When Adam was away checking on drinks or food the rest of the staff was checking on us to including Jeff the manager. Highly recommend this place. We will be back.

My wife and I went to Ocean Prime tonight to celebrate our anniversary! We were pleasantly surprised to be seated exactly on our reservation time. My wife loved the Berries and Bubbles drink at the bar. Every item we ordered was plated perfectly and cooked to perfection. Our server Clayton was very personable and made sure we had a special evening. Thank you for a wonderful experience ❤️🦞🥩

Wow I can’t say enough good things about this establishment. Starting with the warm bread service: absolutely worth the carb splurge. The French onion soup was incredible, with the perfect amount of broil on top. The Hamachi Crudo (pictured) is a must-get dish, no questions asked. It was my first time trying something like that, and the flavor was out of this world. I’ll be back just for that. We also had an off-menu dish I can’t quite remember, but it was just okay. However, the black truffle mac and cheese? Incredible. That’s a must-order every time I go back. The bartender, Becky, was a standout.. her service was stellar, and the drinks were even better. I started with an amazing Old Fashioned made with (forgive me, I don’t drink often!) apple and possibly walnut bitters? Whatever it was, it was smooth, balanced, and unforgettable. I finished the night with a perfect espresso martini. She also provided amazing food recommendations. The vibe of the restaurant is warm, soft, and upscale. Known for hosting stars like Drake, Taylor Swift, Chiefs players, and more, Ocean Prime is the place for a refined dining experience. Whether it’s date night, a special occasion, or you’re trying to impress business associates, this is one of the best restaurants in the Kansas City/Plaza area.

Great food. Great atmosphere. Great service. The street parking is handicapped accessible. The entry to the restaurant is handicapped accessible. This is a nice place for dates, parties, meetings, families, etc. They have a party room. Always keep an open eye in the area.

We celebrated our 5th anniversary here. From the hostess to our waiter to the support servers, everyone was so friendly and we definitely felt spoiled. They asked when we made the reservation if we were celebrating anything so as soon as we got there, the hostess and then our waiter wished us a happy anniversary. They also decorated the table and our dessert. Lots of places will ask about a celebration then barely acknowledge it, so those little gestures were really sweet. The food was delicious - Ceasar salad, lobster bisque, lamb chops, Chilean sea bass, and creme brulee. My husband asked me what my favorite part of the meal was and I couldn't choose just one thing. We also had lemon drop martinis and smoked old fashioned. They were both great. Perfect atmosphere and experience for our anniversary. Be sure and ask for Jameseon = top notch waiter

Chilean sea bass is one of my favorite dishes if done right and Ocean Prime definitely does it right! As one would expect the atmosphere is modern looking with clean lines. The service is consistent, timely and attentive throughout the experience. Definitely a go to if you have not been but be ready to spend a pretty penny! As always if they ask let them know The Damian sent ya!

A beautiful, upscale restaurant on the plaza! I have never been disappointed. The food is great-no matter what you get, pasta, seafood, steak, etc. This time I got the scallops & risotto & it was cooked perfectly! Definitely recommend!

There is one word to describe my experience in this restaurant, and that word is PERFECTION. Everything about this restaurant was perfect. From the atmosphere to drink, the appetizer to the meal and the desserts. Everything was amazing. The twin lobster tails were great. The seasoning on the tails were flavorful and tasty. We also enjoyed the lobster linguine and the steak. The carrot cake is one of the best I’ve ever had.

Restaurant Week at this upscale eatery is supremely satisfying. Five-layer carrot cake at lunch becomes a 10-layer cake at dinner. Yes to indulgence.

Great restaurant. The ambiance and atmosphere were absolutely fantastic! The service was great. Jameson was at his finest. The food was great and the whole family enjoyed the meal. A little on the high side for the portion size, but I am not complaining. Just mentioing. Highly recommend for a special night.

Amazing food and drinks. I haven't been so impressed nor excited in quite sometime! Went for my brother bday and his dessert was excellent and such a nice touch. Our service was top notch and greatly appreciated 👏

First off our waiter Jamison was awesome, went above and beyond to make my first visit amazing. Explained the menu in detail. We were greeted my the executive sous chef, which I thought we cool. I felt honored that he took the time out to speak with us.The price of the food was well worth it. I have no complaints. Everything from the truffle popcorn to my steak and 10 layered carrot cake was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend this place and will go again

Came for the first time for Restaurant Week and I definitely made a good choice. I really loved the interior- upscale, warm, cozy, low light atmosphere and feels very comfortable. Beautiful decor and seating areas. I didn't feel like I was competing with others or loud music to hear and speak to those at my table, as is the case with some restaurants. We had reservations and were seated only a few minutes after arriving. The staff were very friendly, especially our waitress. She was fun and chatted with us every time she came around, she was also great at touching base with us and getting whatever we needed. The food was great! I had the scallops and risotto; the scallops were a good size and not over cooked and the risotto paired well with them. The lobster bisque was very tasty, and I don't even particularly like tomato. There were good sized pieces of lobster. I highly recommend the berries and bubbles cocktail- one, it's fun because of the dry ice but it's got a great flavor that doesn't taste overwhelming like alcohol. All in all I had a wonderful evening and dinner here with my family during restaurant week and would definitely like to come again.

I don't even know where to begin with this place. Ocean Prime is the BEST restaurant. My first time visiting was 12/5/23 for my birthday. When I say my server Jamison went above and beyond, he did just that! Customer service was top tier, the lamp chops were amazing. The cherry on top of the cake was the champagne toast complementary of the restaurant. 10/10 highly recommend. If you want to feel like a celebrity this is this place for you. You won't regret choosing Ocean Prime. I can't wait to come back.

60th birthday party in the Neptune Room. Mikaela and Brianne were amazing setting things up. Hannah and Marcus delivered perfect service. I had mentioned that I liked briny Oysters... I ordered the wrong Oysters, and Hannah still brought me what she knew I wanted. It was truly an amazing experience.

Overall: perfect addition to the Broadway scene in KC! of all I think its a spot for lunch or happy hour as well as a spot for intimate date night. The vibe was energetic and sophisticated. Our wait staff accommodated our requests made during the reservation. Food: treat yourself to the appetizer. If you're unsure, go for the gouda tater tots. The Shrimp Tempura warmly melts in your mouth and is topped with a perfectly seasoned lump of extra spicy shrimp. Surf N Turf appetizer was perfectly pan-seared scallops and delicious braised beef. Entrees: I ordered the chicken and hubby ordered the Crispy fish sandwich. I wasn't a fan of the chicken since it was not tender as expected but the Crispy fish with lobster bisque were tasty. We ended the meal with a celebratory Yellow birthday cake that was sweetened with a big scoop of vanilla bean ice cream on top. Only Con: the music was so loud we had to move our seats closer together to hear each other.

I had an awesome dinner with my friends, it was a very busy Saturday night and our reservation was taking forever so we set at the bar. The setting was incredibly beautiful, and the space was huge. The servers were on a roll that night and they got our food really fast. I really enjoyed the appetizers, the spicy tuna roll and I believe the dragon roll. The twice baked cheesy potato was massive, and big enough to fill you up easily. The filet mignon was disappointing, we ordered it medium rare and it came out dry and wasn’t melt in your mouth at all. I believe it was cooked in a rush. The crust and session it was good though and my friends prime rib looked really good. The blueberry cocktails we ordered were really fun to drink, and I would definitely come back to try more of the sushi.

This is a great fine dining place and the food recommendation is delicious. We celebrated my beautiful wife’s birthday here and she was well taken care of by amazing servers, Jevene and Denise . Our appetizer we had the Surf N Turf- Scallops, Braised Short Rib, and Gremolota. My wife’s entree was the special, Halibut with Parmesan truffle fries for the side, and I had Chilean Sea Bass with whipped Potatoes. We ended the night with warm Butter cake and it was the best way to end our dinner. Great atmosphere and very welcoming. Classy and elegant!

We were there to celebrate New Year's Eve and had a terrific dinner and drinks. Jeff the GM and his entire team took terrific care of us and made it a very memorable experience. We will be back soon.

I am going by my last experience here for the service stars. I've eaten here about a half dozen times and have always been 5-star satisfied with everything - I hope this last service is a fluke and not the normal anymore. First - hubby and I were here for our anniversary and they had a nice card on our table - I loved that. People who sat us were very nice. I wasn't super impressed with my server - he did a good job but I just felt like he wasn't very nice. He wasn't rude really just not very nice - maybe a little pretentious. Every other server I've had there has been super nice and laughs at my silly jokes - he was just a little too straight faced for me. Anyhow, lobster bisque is amazing, the filet is so good and I especially love it with the blue cheese. We weren't really impressed with the brussel sprouts but they were fine. I never tried our other side (maybe potatoes) so I can't say. Hubby was happy with his meal too even though I can't remember what he got. I will be back again because I do love their steaks.

Friendly relaxing atmosphere you don't always expect with fine dining. Enjoyed conversations with other customers at the bar while feasting on some amazing dishes from the happy hour menu. Bartender Josh quickly mixes and serves unique cocktails with a smiling face and warm conversation! All staff was very friendly, inviting, and professional. Will definitely be going back!!

Ocean Prime in Kansas City never disappoints—it’s my go-to spot for an upscale dining experience that’s consistently top-notch. The steak is always cooked to perfection, juicy and flavorful every single time. Pair it with their amazing mashed potatoes, which are creamy, buttery, and downright addictive. And don’t get me started on the popcorn—it’s to die for, with that perfect sweet-salty crunch that sets the tone for the whole meal. We sat at the bar this visit, and our bartender Allison was absolutely amazing; she was attentive, fun, and made spot-on recommendations that elevated the evening. If you’re in KC, do yourself a favor and check it out—five stars all the way!

I came here for my birthday and absolutely loved it. They truly made me feel special. The service was amazing, the food was outstanding, and the atmosphere was beautiful. Definitely worth it — I would 100% come back!

We had a large group (about 30) and had reserved a room for a special occasion, dinner after a wedding ceremony. Selected 4 entrees our guests could choose from, also selected 3 appetizers and 3 sides for the tables to pass. Sister of the groom is a vegan and an appetizer and entree were made for her after staff asked about what she liked. The servers were great, very attentive. Food was delicious. Favorites included - black truffle mac'n cheese, goat cheese ravioli, mini crab cakes, ribeye, and blackened snapper.

First time visiting and dining at Ocean Prime and we recommend 100%. Great food, environment and outstanding customer service. Unfortunately we had to wait a bit for our reservation but management and our server Trevor and their staff went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience, and we sure did. We also visit Prime Social, their upscale roof top bar which I don’t recommend skipping. Their Pineapple Express and Spicy version they made for us was delightful. Will definitely go back next time we visit Kansas City!

It was I an my wife’s 1st time to ocean prime and we will definitely be going back . Our favorite restaurant for years has been Eddie Vs. and we thought we would try something different this New Year’s Eve and glad we did .Our server Chris Enss. Is a 5star amazing server from start to finish you should promote him or make him server trainer. And pay him more . We go to many 5star restaurants all over the world. Yes we travel a lot blessed to be able to do so . Anyway give the man what he deserves Thankyou Happy new year

Excellent place for a special occasion. Alex M was our server. He was professional, great knowledge of beverage and food menu, and offered us off menu options that were delicious. He perfectly paced our dinner so we weren’t rushed or left waiting. The Snapper was perfect. We were escorted upstairs to Prime Social for a nightcap after which was great! Perfect birthday dinner for my dad, and the carrot cake was divine.

So I gave this place a four star for a couple of reasons. The first reason was that my steak when it was brought out did not have my truffle butter on it, so I had to wait for them to bring that to me. The second reason is that they brought out all of our sides after they brought out our proteins, and my black truffle mac and cheese wasn't very hot. The food was really good, though.

I visited this restaurant as part of a workplace-sponsored dinner. The ambiance was refined and quiet, contributing to an overall sophisticated atmosphere. We began with the calamari, and for my entrée I selected the lobster tail paired with a 10oz sirloin. The dish was accompanied by a lobster soup, which I found somewhat disappointing in flavor. However, both the lobster and the sirloin were exceptionally well prepared and enjoyable. For dessert, we were served crème brûlée, which was a standout—rich, well balanced, and very satisfying. While the establishment itself is elegant, the overall tone of the service and environment felt slightly pretentious, which may not appeal to all guests.

I eat at Ocean Prime often. I really enjoy the smoked Old Fashion. Portions are moderate and the food has ranged from magnificent to so-so. Good atmosphere with semi dim lighting. Waiter/waitress has always been great. Bill is generally about $250 for two people eating appetizers, entrees and cocktails.

This was our first time coming here, it was my wife's birthday and we wanted to do something special and fancy. I was disappointed to say the least. The food was good but not great, which for the price, I expected to notch. For example, I had the risotto and it had a weird taste and was overdone which only made it worse. The waitress was nice and the atmosphere was nice but my biggest beef, and maybe I'm wrong here, but the waitress asked my wife if she wanted a birthday dessert. I'm used to this being on the house for this occasion for the birthday person and this is how it seemed to be presented. However, we were charged for it. For as highly overpriced it was for sub par food I would have expected better from a high end restaurant, that we choose to go to for this special occasion. There are plenty of other options with much better food.

Don't get the king crab. It's way over priced and it tasted like it had been frozen for too long. Hard to chew. I told the Chef who was going from table to table and he said, "They watch the freshness very carefully." Well then, I guess it was just an old tough crab. When you charge $130 for one dish it should be perfect. The lobster and linguine was good but my noodles were slightly overcooked. Again, I expect perfect. I'll be back, but not for those chewy crab legs.

we arrived early for our reservation and at the beginning we felt great and had great service. immediately as we sat down our server Mindy finally took our drink order myself and one other guest order cocktails. The other two guests ordered cokes and as a joke said “one virgin coke please!” to which she made a joke about the coke not having ‘’mexican sugar” completely off the wall, when two of the four guests were hispanic. Immediately we felt uncomfortable. After the joke was made Mindy did not come back to our table from 840pm to 940pm we had to pull another server Layla over to our table just to communicate we had not had our food order taken. Finally Mindy came back over and took our food order after drinks and service took over an hour to receive. We got our food and beside the service the food was AMAZING. One of the best meals I have had! So we finish get our food and finish the meal and Mindy still has not been back to our table. We pull Layla again to order the calamari we had not received. Mindy comes back to the table and says “i heard we want calamari” nothing else. She at this point had not been the one to give us our drinks or food. We are feeling extremely frustrated as Mindy has been chatting it up with her other two tables right in front of of us building report and laughing. We felt extremely embarrassed and neglected. We at this point spoke to the manager Denice who without a doubt helped us with kindness and understanding. She was immediately understanding of what we were saying. At this point part of our dinner and drinks were compensated. We were also given $150 gift cards each per couple. We felt fairly compensated other than we received no communication from Mindy. We have at this point finished our food entirely and the restaurant was closed. Waiting almost 40 minutes for Mindy to charge us out while she spoke with another table right in from of us. We then had to pull yet another server Morgan because Mindy was flat out ignoring us. Morgan was the one to charge us out and was extremely understanding and at the end of it receiving our tip as she should. I am never one to complain neither are my guests but I drove an hour and was told ocean prime was amazing. AGAIN the food was delicious and the servers and manager who did help us made it right. However, Mindy was extremely unkind and never once helped or made a situation right. She gave no apology at any point during our stay.

This was our first time here and probably our last. While the service was top-notch notch, the food wasn't that good. It was also overpriced for what we got. My pork chop was not all the way done, and when I inquired, our server said that's how they make it!! REALLY, raw pork...NO!!! The drinks were amazing, but also way overpriced IMHO! I had cheesecake for dessert and it had to be some of the best cheesecake I've ever had.

My family and I dined here to celebrate being together for the holidays, and while the atmosphere and service were excellent, the food unfortunately did not live up to the price point. There wasn’t a single bottle of wine under $100, and overall the food felt very overpriced for what it was. I ordered the grouper and genuinely enjoyed it. It was light, flavorful, and well prepared. However, everything else we ordered fell flat. We shared the surf and turf for the table, and the braised short rib was very dry. Other entrées included the Chilean sea bass, which was quite bland and lacked flavor, and the lobster linguine, which was also underwhelming and surprisingly flavorless. While the ambiance and service were 5-star worthy, the food itself was very mid and not worth the cost. Given the pricing, we expected much more from the overall dining experience.

Oh my gosh. I do know where to start, but the novella I would put on here would never end. If someone wants to provide me with an email or something I can contact, I would be happy to elaborate. I attached a few photos to prove I dined here. It doesn’t look like the restaurant or anybody actually monitors the Google Maps marker for this business, so I’ll mention a few points. Food was expensive and somewhat terrible. My server Bri was attentive and absolutely wonderful. The dining rooms are gorgeous. The host operates on a mastermind level of petty nastiness that would make Regina George green with envy.

Disheartening First Visit to Ocean Prime As a school teacher and my twin sister a social worker, we were looking forward to a relaxing lunch at Ocean Prime, a chance to unwind after spending our days serving others. Sadly, what should have been a peaceful and enjoyable outing turned into a deeply disappointing experience. The restaurant was nearly empty, which made the lack of attention we received all the more baffling. From the moment we sat down, our bartender/waiter Brian seemed nonchalant and disengaged. He barely made eye contact, spoke at us rather than to us, and rarely paused to give us his full attention. It didn’t seem to matter that it was my first time dining in, I felt invisible. There was another bartender behind the counter. He stopped and made small talk and seemed kind. I didn't catch his name but appreciated his warmness. Still, we tried to give the benefit of the doubt and enjoy the space. I asked a few questions about the menu, and about my drink in particular but Brian either seemed short, annoyed, too busy to respond, or simply didn't respond at all. Still we remained kind and patient. We ordered tacos and a single drink each, but after an extensive wait, the food never arrived. After growing restless of the dismissiveness, I left my seat to find a manager. I explained the situation, emphasized that it was our first visit, and said we’d just pay for our drinks and leave. The manager apologized and offered to move us to a new section—but oddly, placed us right in front of the bar, just steps from where we’d already been sitting. It felt awkward and unresolved. Still no tacos. No updates. No accountability. Just as we were about to walk out, the tacos finally arrived—and they were incorrect. We stayed and ate them, not wanting to cause more disruption, but the damage had already been done. We left feeling unheard, unseen, and unvalued as customers. Ocean Prime failed to deliver even the most basic level of hospitality. In a nearly empty restaurant, we were treated as if we didn’t matter. Accountability was absent, and the experience left us feeling insignificant. Needless to say, we won’t be returning as they were given multiple opportunities to make it right, & they did not.
