Opinions de Peacock's Stephenville
The food is amazing!! I got an omelet, my husband got a chicken fried steak...at 10pm. (We had just gotten into town on Thursday night, for our daughter's college graduation Friday morning). Even that late, our food was fantastic! Our waitress was great as well, very sweet young lady!
This place is amazing! The service is always phenomenal and the food is delicious and fresh. We have been there twice and it did not disappoint. Saturday we were there late(ish) morning, around 10. We drove over an hour just for the coffee and breakfast, something about the coffee at this restaurant is amazing. We will always go the long way to our destination, just so we can stop at Peacocks for our meal. Thank you for another great experience!!
Very nice place and great food
First time visiting, sat ourselves and ordered within five minutes. Great hometown atmosphere and good food, pretty much anything you want. Highly recommend the biscuits and gravy for breakfast!!
Service was the best. Waitress was very good drinks never went empty. She was very friendly and got to our table in a timely manner. We were a party of 5. Thumbs up for...I believe her name was Payton. She was awesome! Food was also great. Best service and food I've had in awhile.
Let me just say when living in a big city I have never found a place like this. The food is authentic and is worth every single bite. Not only is the food great, but the service lived up to the standards of fine dining. I would recommend coming here for a great time and great food. 👍👍👍
Their food is consistently good same for the service. Price is right and they are always open. Only one suggestion is they really need to put some degreaser on the floors! Its so dirty and If I were the owner I would be concerned someone might fall on those greasy tiles. But that being said I will continue to eat at peacocks its wonderful.
Really good fired, and nice staff. Our orders were all perfect and quick. If you are working night shift like I was this place is great because it is open 24 hrs. Would def recommend the waffle sandwich.
So first I have to say that everything was wonderful as far as service and food goes, however I couldn't give five stars as far as the atmosphere goes because it was simply too loud. I'm sure there are times when business slows down and it's quieter but people talk way too loud and it echoes a lot. I just don't like a lot of noise and hustle and bustle. But it's a very good thing for this restaurant because it means that people love it as much as I do! Definitely a good place to stop. They have good prices and I haven't had an issue with their service or food yet.
Always a pleasure going on. My niece and I stopped in from shopping and had breakfast for dinner. Food was on point as well as service.
Great place to eat. Burgers Best in Town
Stopped in for breakfast while passing through town. Great little gem. Fully packed, but we got a seat quickly and the food was great!
Food is always great and taste goood
Wait staff and cooks are friendly with great food and quick service. The bus staff are fast and friendly as well. I’m a regular and it’s kinda like “Cheer’s” everybody knows my name
Our server was sooo sweet and they were very sweet to our son who was being a little crazy. They never said anything about my one year old being noisy. They thought he was cute. Its a comfy and quiet area. I am planning on going back soon.
The food was absolutely amazing. The place was packed because it was homecoming at our local university. We waiting over an hour for our food and we didn't mind at all. We sat at the counter and was able to watch the staff cook the entire time. It was fascinating to watch and the waitresses talked to us while they were working. When the food came, it was well worth the wait. Do yourself a favor and try their pancakes. They are like done other.
Both times I've been there for 2 people has been under $50.
My husband and I ate here one morning around 4:35 am. The food was delicious I had steak fingers gravy, fries with carrots and broccoli on the side. And to top that the server / excellent .
We stopped on our way through town. We were greeted by a friendly young lady that seemed to be the only waitress working. She did a great job tending to all of the tables. She apologized a few times for the time it was taking to get our order and then to get our food. The wait time really wasn't that long. We got the cheeseburger sub mayo and shared the chili-cheese tots. The food was great! We were very happy with our visit to Peacock's!
Yummy breakfast, lunch, dinner, or even midnight snack. The food is definitely at least a 30 minute wait but portion size is absolutely perfect. Trust me you will never leave without a full tummy. Waitresses are always nice here. Recommend this location on South Loop because it’s 24hr. ❤️
We were craving burgers! Peacock's Restaurant did not disappoint. Our waitress was nice and attentive. She mentioned the different burger specials and we were wicked excited! Both burgers my son and I ordered were correct. The buns were toasted perfectly. The meat and cheese were delicious. The fries were an amazing bonus! The price, service, food met and exceeded my expectations. I rarely offer 5 stars because there's always room for improvement but this place was deserving.
I had to go to DMV in Tolar so we drove here to eat before my appointment last week. I’ve never been here before and I loved this restaurant, the breakfast was great and the woman who served us was wonderful. I really enjoyed talking with her as much as I loved the breakfast. I’m so glad we went here!!
I absolutely loved this restaurant! The staff was friendly and quick, the food portions were big and the quality was great! The whole vibe of this restaurant was awesome! Very small town hospitality-ish, if that makes sense. We are in town for a tournament so we were looking for a quick bite. We were not disappointed!!!
If you're looking for that down-home country cookin Grandma uses to make - this is the place! Try the kibbles n bits and you won't be disappointed. I also ordered a side of biscuits and gravey to top off an already hearty meal. Definitely recommend as I was also referred to this restaurant myself.
Went for breakfast. It was kinda busy but the food came out hot. Very friendly staff
I definitely love stopping and eating here when I go to visit my son at Tarleton State University. There are two locations. We go to the one on the south side of town. The food is always spectacular and there is a very wide variety. Service is prompt and friendly.Definitely a great place to stop and eat whether it’s breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
i loooove peacocks! i come here for breakfast very often. very cozy place and the wait staff are always very sweet.
We had the most delicious breakfast at Peacocks. Big fluffy pancakes and generous 3egg omelets were on the menu. We asked the manager at the hotel where we could find the best breakfast-served all day-and he did not steer us wrong.
Full disclosure, I'm related to the owners and have been visiting this restaurant since before I could walk. However, the service here is always friendly and efficient. The food is always hot and fresh. Overall, Peacock's Restaurant is just the cozy, friendly vibe you'd expect and want in a diner.
We ate here while dropping our son off for college. Great breakfast food.
We stopped here while passing through and we were so pleasantly surprised! We got an omelette, burrito, and a few of the egg, pancake, sausage meals for our kids. It was so delicious and warm even with us ordering 25ish minutes out. Such a great option instead of garbage fast food breakfast. Sausage in the omelette was perfectly crisp and the veggies were sautéed to perfection! Wishing we were passing through this way again to eat there!
We almost didn't go due to some of the reviews, but sometimes bad reviews are because of disgruntled employees. I'm glad we went, we sat at counter due to it being so busy and I was amazed at how the cooks handled the amount of orders they had. Yes it took 40 minutes for food to get to us but it was a packed Sunday morn. The Western omelet was delicious and filled with veggies and ham. I will definitely go back next time I'm in town.
Yummmmm! Best breakfast I’ve had in a long time. Best pancakes…. Reminds me of cake batter. So good. Husband tried the F-bomb Benedict. Really really good. Great little stop, hope to eat there again in the near future.
They were very busy but still did a fantastic job. Food was great
Great food Great service Can't say enough about there breakfast omelets
Had the Philly cheesesteak with fries lunch special and it did not disappoint!! So tasty and cooked to perfection!
Absolutely the best breakfast ever. Great service and fast service Just a wonderful experience over all
Busy even at 10:30am for a sit down breakfast. Extensive menu. Food was plentiful for the prices paid and delicious. Line cook was rocking back there (by himself!) getting orders completed and out to diners. Having had my own cafe I had to give him a shout out. :) Very impressed for our first visit.
Down to earth folks who go out of their way to provide you with the best meal possible. Really enjoy coming here to eat
We decided to stop here for dinner while passing through town. It's a little small town diner that you probably wouldn't notice from the street. We found it online and decided to give it a try. I ordered the ham and cheese omelet with toast and grits and it was all great. My wife had the Western omelet and she enjoyed it as well. The waitress was wonderful and took care of everything we needed. If you're looking for a good breakfast or a home cooked meal, give Peacock's a try.
WOW. I was in Syephenville on business this morning with a coworker, And we inquired about getting something to eat there, which was highly suggested that we do. So we stopped in and had Breakfast. I had a Really Great tasting Omelette (sausage & cheese) with cubed potatoes ( can't recall what they are actually called LOL) as well as some coffee. I have to say how absolutely delicious everything was. The service was spot on. our waitress was very attentive, as well as polite. it wasn't crowded or really busy at the time. the parking is a little small. But was okay none the less. over all 5 Stars, and I Hope i can get back thier at some point. NOW. ONE slight criticism, when we asked about dining Thier, the person highly recommend the breakfast. But was definitely NOT very enthusiastic about lunch or dinner. stating that they were not as near the quality as the Breakfast So I guess that's something that management needs to look into.
Another great breakfast, thank you Peacocks!! Best place in town.\nFood and Service A++++
The food was great and Rachel was our service. They got a rush when we first got there but she made sure to check on us. Would definitely eat here again!!

Amazing service. Great food. Please note... My expectations were set appropriately for the 24 hour diner.

Love this place! We dine here a lot when in town visiting our son. The scramble for breakfast is the best I've found anywhere. The staff are awesome and the tables are cozy.
We come here at least twice a week. It's my dad's favorite place, and we enjoy it as well. Great pancakes! And when Kate is here, she knows exactly what we order, super nice to have a great waitres…

Excellent quaint place! Hometown and personable. Friendly service, great breakfast selections! Will definitely be back!
Service was kinda slow but there was only one waitress. Food was good, sweet tea is sweet, would recommend. Update: got a chicken fried steak sandwich and tots tonight. Food was great. Called ahead, it was hot and ready when we got there.
The perfect diner location! We had a great server, gave us the secret pancake appetizer! I devoured my chicken fried steak and eggs. We will be back next time we're up in Stephenville!
Little loud. The food was good, but I got more broth than meat/vegetables in my homemade stew(not much solid food for the price). The cornbread muffins were very good. The waiter was attentive and very friendly. I really enjoyed the experience, despite the aforementioned issues.
Food was delicious and the waitress was attentive. It was wafflehouse style inside so it was loud. This place was recommended to me by two locals and I would recommend it to you as well!
Food, service excellent. I suggest the owners/managers look up at ceiling vents in dining room and restrooms. Really disgusting 🫣
The Best cafe style food you will find in Stephenville Texas that it is easily 10 times better than Jake and Dorothy's!!! 🤠👍
We went here after a basketball game at Tarleton. The food was good, but i feel it is overpriced. The place wasn't very clean either. You have to search yourself, and we had a hard time finding a table that didn't have food on it, so we cleaned one off. Our waitress was nice and friendly.
Breakfast anytime they are open. Courteous staff. Food quality is hit or miss. Sometimes flawless and other times burned to a crisp. Many menu deals but always ask the waitress the best way to order or you can end up paying almost double than what you might have paid.
Very busy spot, clearly popular with the locals—definitely has that “good old boys” regular crowd feel. It’s a basic diner setup, and the food was good with no complaints. Service was direct and efficient. Only real issue was the price—$75 for breakfast for four people felt too high for the type of place this is. Not outrageous, but definitely more than expected. Still, solid food and a reliable stop overall.
Edit 2025-12-07 Came back to give them another try. Blueberry pancakes was very good, but had some raw spot in the middle. Breakfast burrito was tasty, but their salsa had absolutely zero heat to it (even though I asked for the apicyeat salsa). Service was good. Good was good. Just needs a couple of tweaks and some spice. ***************** Stopped in to try this location. - Waffle was food, but very dense. - Bacon was burnt. - Breakfast taco was good, but potatoes (hash browns) were not cooked all the way. And there was not spicy salsa for them. - Texan breakfast was good. But the eggs were ice cold (kitchen is using cold plates instead of warming them up). - Grits were plain, with no pepper. Tasted good once I added pepper. Service was pretty okay. Only one waitress handling all of the tables. She did dissappear when things got busy, so we had tobwait a while for the check and coffee refill.
Food was good. There was only one other couple in the restaurant when we arrived, still waited a good 1/2 hour for our food. I could see if it was steak but it was pancakes and waffles?
I was heading down 281 after visiting family. The next stop was Stephenville to fill my tank (and the cars tank). I found a family style diner called Peacock's Restaurant. Trying to park was a bit of a challenge. The place seemed very busy. The time was around 1pm, so the heavy customer traffic was expected. The appetizers came out fairly quickly, given the amount of customers. The service was great. Orders were taken rapidly and food was served timely. The food itself was good. I really English my Philly cheese steak omelet. This was a nice little stop for lunch.
It was pretty good. Our waitress was top notch. It's your typical dinner affair. Pancakes, waffles, black coffee, scrambled eggs. I had the waffles and chicken tenders, they were quite floury, and weren't a repeat. My wife however had the kibbles-n-bits. It was tremendous. Scrambled eggs, ham, hashbrowns, bell peppers, onion, and salsa. She couldn't finish it all, so I did. I'll have it next time I'm there. Or atleast something similar. The portions are large, and the price is pretty good. My only complaint is that its packed, so the wait can be pretty long (both for a seat, and the food itself). It seemed like there was only one waitress, and she was also the cashier. She definitely deserves a raise!
Still the best place to go for a meal when it's 3:00 am in the morning. Can't go wrong here.
Not that impressive. We came in on a Monday at 11:30 and all of the seats were full. That didn't seem like a big deal, so we waited for a few minutes, then grabbed a seat. The server was unfriendly…
Peacock’s is your basic diner type comfort food establishment. It is a favorite of my godson, so we dined there for lunch while in town to see him graduate from TSU. He recommended their breakfast food (served all day), so I had the western omelette. It was big and pretty tasty, if just a little on the pricy side. It was served with toast and hash browns, both of which were fine. Service was good if not particularly personable. One somewhat annoying thing was the guys in the kitchen, which is right behind the counter and open to the restaurant, were loud and a bit distracting. While I am happy to see people apparently enjoying their work, it was a bit much for the setting. All in all, Pretty decent if not really anything special.
The place was very well staffed especially for late night. Very clean, server was fairly attentive. The food is pretty pricey for what it is. The burger was smaller than atypical quarter pound burger and was charred pretty badly. The cheese covered it up. The bacon was great and was the best part of the burger. They did compensate by putting a lot of fries on the plate and the fries were very good. It certainly was not a $ 14 Burger though. One other issue is that they charge a 5% surcharge for using plastic. When you charge that much for an entree and $3 for a soda, tacking on an additional 5% as a convenience fee for your transaction processing is a bit much.
Peacocks is a good place to meet friends for an informal visit and meal. I gave it a 3 rating when I'd like to give it a 3.5. Usually, when I'm there, there are only 2 servers. This can slow service when there is an evening crowd (more than 5 tables per server).
Waiter wasn't attentive then flat out disappeared. We ended up getting our own to go boxes and paying and leaving. Food was great. Waitresses were great. Definitely asking for their section next time.
Local Diner with some handmade foods and some pre-made mains. Not terrible, but nothing to rave about. We had a jalapeño burger (YUM) and chicken fried steak (frozen and then fried). Friendly service and decently priced.
We take the drive to stephenville 3-4 times a week and always have to come here to eat. (Main reason for the drive) Our last visit (6/9/25) was not so great! I had to get up 3 times to look for the waitress. I ask for our ticket and was told it was at the register she never brought it and i never seen it, she told me the price determined if i paid cash or credit. I AM VERY AWARE OF THAT! We never ask for senior discount and never complained about the cost. Proper etiquettes bring my ticket to the table. The food is always exceptionally good and always more than we can eat. Kudos to your cooks, waitress do better to please your customers
Food was ok. Parts were warm. Not exactly hot. Took a while to get our food. Came just after the crowd. Shouldn't have taken that long. Taste was good. Wouldn't recommend or going back.
While I have stopped here several times. And the omelets are very good. I feel I must warn of an observation that I have seen repeatedly. The breakfast cook handles a large slab of bacon while placing the strips on the grille. The problem is that she then doesn't clean her hands before then handling the plates and other cooked items. I think this is potentially a salmonella source. The handling of raw pork and handlings of other items without sterilizing her hands is got to be a health hazard.
The restaurant came highly recommended... Received food after an hour wait. Others waiting just as long. Saw a table leave! Food was ok...frozen CFS was the straw. Would love to of talked to a manager, but they said not on one staff at time!! What?? Update...after talking to the owner and having a pleasant conversation. There was some issues he was not aware of at the time. I WILL be giving the restaurant another try!
Got chicken fried stake and chicken fried chicken, and be warned they are frozen patties, you just drop in the deep fryer. The chicken fried stake was overcooked and crunchy. Chicken fried chicken, he said was ok for a frozen pre breaded pattie, and the mashed potatoes were just warm. We were just passing through for an appointment at DMV and decided to stop in. I should have gotten the breakfast, lol.
Our breakfast was good and the service is ok. We will give it another chance. Everyone has a bad day.
Extremely slow food service- waited an hour to get food for breakfast
Food is ok. place was not busy for a Sunday. waiter took to long to take our order. people that came in after us got there food. tried there breakfast too it ok as well. too expensive for ok food.
Was very busy. Took 45 minutes to get breakfast. Wife did not like her pancakes, and daughter did not eat her on let. I got bacon eggs and grits. It was good. Service could have been better.
This restaurant had high reviews so we thought we would stop in for an old fashioned diner meal. It took a long time to get our order. The burger was overdone. The chicken and waffles were equivalent o a flat Lego waffle and was accompanied by 3 tiny chicken strips. I’ve had better frozen chicken strips - these were small and not homemade. Finally, the biscuits and gravy were not very good. I doubt the tiny biscuits were homemade and the huge bowl of gravy was disappointing. Overall, nothing tasted homemade. Not impressed.
Absolutely one of the worst restaurants I've ever been to. It took over 45 minutes to get our food after ordering AFTER having to wait over 20 minutes for one of the many empty tables to cleaned so that our party of 4 could be seated. We were without drinks most of our visit & the waitress assigned to our table disappeared after taking our order,we had to get someone else to check on the status of our meal. The food was nothing special & extremely overpriced for the quality of the meals provided. We visit Stephenville often and had heard great things about Peacock's. This unfortunately was not our experience.
The price they charge for food is insane. I had hamburger steak and the meat was not real hamburger meat. It was a soy patty covered in brown gravy and it cost over 16.00 dollars.
We asked what the lunch specials were and were told 1. Chicken Fried Steak 2. Steak Sandwich 3. Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich. I ordered the Steak Sandwich and my husband ordered a Cheeseburger. What I got served was a Chicken Fried Steak Sandwich. I mentioned I ordered a Steak Sandwich not Chicken Fried Steak Sandwich and the waitress promptly told me that is their Steak Sandwich and left. She never came back to check on us, refill drinks or anything. My plate sat on the edge of the table untouched. I gave this review 2 stars because my husband's Cheeseburger was ok. 2 Ice Teas and a Cheeseburger was $20. It would have been nice if the waitress had taken the time to address the issue rather than ignoring us.
FIRST and last visit ! Four of us went into this restaurant on Labor Day. They were super busy so I expected the food to come out hot with a high turnover. Rate. we had to wait about 12 minutes to …
I got burned jalapeño burger we missed out our salad. Requested for no pickles but they put tons of it. I tried to eat it but it's really not for human
Came in around ten and got pancakes plus some other sides. Service was ok until I found a hair in my food. My boyfriend brought it up to our waitress and the cook overheard and then proceeded to te…
This place is absolutely terrible Waited 2 hours to get my breakfast My drinks were served without straws…..when I asked for them the waitress said I’ll be right back……she never came back . My eggs were cold, French toast was made with whole weath bread Wdf do better 👎🏽
Took way too long for our food, it was cold when we received it. Did not taste good. The waitress was extremely rude and non attentive in the hour and a 1/2 that we were there waiting for breakfast she only brought us our drinks and our food. Never came back once in between. The man who claimed to be the owner was even ruder. Awful experience would not advise anyone to go to this restaurant. It is under new ownership . And the people that own it now are absolutely atrocious.
We ordered cheeseburger and chicken fried stake. I give the burger a 2 star. $7. 10 overpriced. Did not include fries. The chicken fried stake tasted like it was froze not fresh, not worth the $12+ we paid. The baked potato was old and cold. I would have complained, but my husband didn’t let me. I give our waitress a 5 star. She was really nice.
If I could give this place zero stars, I absolutly would. My husband and I stopped here for breakfast, we placed our order, after 45 mins the waitress informed us we were the 3rd ticket away, uhhhh and that they were busy. 1. They werent that busy, I grew up in the restaurant business, if thats busy yall aren't doing things right. 2. If I ever had one of my waitresses say that snobby comment and tone with my customer she would never step foot on my service floor again. Not to mention. 45 minutes for eggs! That is absolutly ridiculous! On top of this, walking into this place i was hesitant being that it was very un clean looking. No way will I ever step foot in this place again. Like I said I cant even give it stars on food. Because after close to an hour I was not waiting for some mediocre looking food. So you have forever lost a costumer!! Never again will I give this place a try!
2 hours to get pancakes ….after being seated. $85.00 for breakfast with 2 adults and 1 kid.
Huge failure! Chicken fry was from frozen, instant gravy, frozen veggies, hamburger steak was a preprocessed patty absolutely no seasoning or flavor few onions on top, green beans were beyond overcooked. Salad was good. Don’t waste your money on this for what we ordered. 40 dollars before the tip?
Honestly was very very disappointed in this place we went in around 12am this morning and left very unsatisfied the burger I ordered seemed as if the patties were frozen patties and my husband’s hamburger steak was only warm and had no flavor what so ever. As soon as we got home which we had an hour drive home my husband and I immediately got sick and we knew it had to of been the food it turns out we ended up with food poisoning so unless you want food poisoning I highly suggest not going here or you will be unsatisfied not to mention for only 2 of us we paid $50 which is ridiculous!!!!!
