My husband and I have been to this restaurant a few times over the course of many years. We have enjoyed the food each time. The last time I ordered the Pozole, which was very good. This last visit, I ordered the chicken sopes and was given a super-sized serving of two with sides of refried beans and rice. The service was friendly, and the food was ready within a decent time. I appreciate the consistency of the quality and portion size of food they serve.

Been here a few dozen times, have had about half the menu and everything is fantastic. My favorite by far is the Torta Cubana which is a monster of a sandwich that lasts me 3 meals on average and has everything but the kitchen sink thrown in, The sopas are also fantastic and everything on the breakfast menu is worth a try. Special mention needs to be paid to the drinks, which are absolutely fantastic, huge and they definitely don't water anything down. The beautiful woman in the santa hat this morning (12/13/22 sorry i forgot your name) Update:her name is Anna and she is fantastic, she was our server again today and definitely deserves a raise cause she is always amazing at her job. Yesenia, and Junior are all incredibly professional and attentive servers as well, everyone here is great but those 3 go above and beyond. Overall this has quickly become one of my favorite places and is yet another hidden gem of the valley.

One of my favorite places to go. You will never be disappointed. The drinks and food are delicious. I come at least 2 to 3 times a month. Great service. Patio and indoor dinning. There's heating lamps outside if it's too cold and water misters if it's too hot. Great place for the whole family.

Stopped by Don Luis and had a really great experience. The restaurant feels comfortable and welcoming right when you walk in. It has that classic local spot atmosphere where you can actually relax and enjoy your meal. I ordered the shrimp plate and it was delicious. The shrimp were cooked perfectly and full of flavor, and the portions were generous. Everything tasted fresh and homemade, not rushed or overly heavy. My daughter really enjoyed her meal, and the staff was great. The overall experience felt relaxed and enjoyable.

Authentic food from a local long time anchor. Was very busy. Good taste and leaves you full. Service was pretty slow and a beer costs too much. Like how about $4 for a beer ?

Service was great food was good I only go there for the pozole or Menudo nothing else my friend ordered a margarita I thought it was a little pricey $18.50 other than that I'll stop there again

First time eating there. The food was delicious I had a Taco Enchiladas rice and the beans were real yummy. The service wasn't good .The sign said wait to be seated know one never came so my husband and I found a table near the door. Server came one time to check on us. The staff needs training in customer service .But the food was delicious 😋

Don Luis is a Stockton staple! The food is good— we like the Pozole, Beef Tacos, Cheese Enchiladas, and some of their specialties. The salsa is great! Sometimes the chips are a little burnt tasting… The homemade tortillas are fabulous. The service is pretty good! But it can get really packed and loud on the weekends. (Sometimes they turn the music up full volume and it’s hard to hear the other people at your table… I feel like an old lady writing that, lol! But it really is distracting.) You’ll know when they’re packed because the parking lot will be completely full. Overall, it is clean, consistently good, and fairly priced!

You can be loud in this environment or people are unaware of how they are or the drinks are just that good. The drinks are good. Food was delicious. Service was okay they tend to forget because there is alot going on but it's unintentional.

This is a true Mexican atmosphere. Wasn’t too busy on this visit, but taking that into consideration service was a little slow. Took our order promptly with followed by chips and salsa. At one point I asked for salt and more salsa which I never got. Took a while for our food to arrive. The rice was lukewarm. The chicken enchilada was pretty good. However, the chicken taco not so much. There was a lot of chicken in Taco, but it was very dry. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt I will give this establishment another try

UPDATE: Don Luis USED to be my favorite Mexican restaurant in Stockton but over the last year or two they have gone way downhill. Over the last few years it seems like there hasn’t been a whole lot of care put into the place…the seats are starting to split and need to be reupholstered, the service is barely a fraction of what it used to be and they NEVER get my order correct. Honestly I just order cheese enchiladas à la cart with just the light gravy. Sounds easy enough but they get it wrong at least half of the time. Thank goodness there are other awesome Mexican restaurants in Stockton. For now I staying away from Don Luis. It makes me sad, I hope they can get it together in the future. 😐 Don Luis is my FAVORITE restaurant in all of Stockton. It's probably my all time favorite anywhere. I have been eating in Stockton all my life and we have some damn good Mexican food but the quality of the food, ingredients and staff put this one above the rest. I could make a whole meal out of just their gravy and cheese to dip my chips in. The owner is often around and taking care of the place...in fact he installed a permanent outdoor section during COVID and now they have twice the room and twice the business! Mind you it can get REALLY busy during dinner but I have never waited more than 15 minutes for a table. (And to top it off they know my order by heart.) Now I'm hungry and it's way too late at night to get anything to eat...lol.

Pay attention to your bill , the employee's tend to sneak in there own amount of tip on to the bill. Our meal was $ 40 - 50 dollars and they added $ 130.00 tip. I had hard time getting them to refund my bank Visa card. Food was nothing to boast about. Not worth returning to.

The food was terrible. I would never recommend getting their menudo here. It tastes like it was seasoned with nothing but chicken bouillon and there’s hardly any tripe at all. The menudo is so overcrowded with hominy there’s hardly anything else in it. Service wasn’t great. Not very attentive. Margaritas were delicious though. I wouldn’t come back again.

Disappointing dining experience. Ordered the menudo which would of been delicious but the majority of of the bowl was hominy and just little bits of tripe. Would of been nice if the server came by to see how the food was but they never checked on us. 😞
