Opinions de Sweet Mama's Stony Brook
Very cool find by Stony-brook University. Portions are very large (come hungry) and the mimosa flight was very tasty. Ice cream deserts are great and there are a ton of options. Staff was very friendly. Only downside is we Appetizer sampler was a bit on the smaller side.
What an adorable little spot! We stumbled over this place while visiting a friend and we were blown away. This fun and cute restaurant offers a delicious menu, wonderful decor and outstanding service. Don't be fooled by the youthful servers. These kids work hard and do so with professionalism and a smile. And, if you're into dessert, they have a whole ice cream bar in the front. This is definitely a place I would visit again if I'm ever in the area.
We've been frequenting this place for a few years now. Food and service is always great. Tonight, another patron came to our table to let us know he paid for our dinner to honor his wife that he had lost. He gave us a card with a memorial of his wife. He told us that his wife was a kind person and it's his way of honoring her. We were so touched that it now hangs on our refrigerator and will remain there for life. It's to remind us of the rare kindness that still exists in this world and the people out there that appear at random to show you that it still does. It makes us love this place even more because everytime we go there, everyone is so friendly- both patrons and staff.
We had two decent dinners and would consider mentioning the value at the price point. Chicken teryaki and buffalo chicken mac and cheese. Delicious. The drinks at the price point were sub par. The manhattan was off and the ginger beer was not good in the mule. Overall, recommended. Excellent salad too!
The food is very good. Unfortunately larger groups or people will find the dining area cramped. The staff is great and are always willing to help your requests even though it can be extremely busy. Overall a great place to eat with friends and family.
f you’re in the mood for some southern comfort breakfast, this is the place to go! The gravy and grits are absolutely delicious. I wish I would’ve taken some to go! All the plates were great, and it is definitely hard to pick! The vibe here is very calm, with a more at-home feel. Will totally be returning here and recommend you give it a try!
Closest thing to southern taste you’re going to get. This place is very amazing, everything was super tasty and serving sizes were also great to include the kids food. Going to be coming back soon! Btw chicken fried steak was hands down one of the best ive ever had and the gravy was even better!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Sweet Mama’s is a brunch lover’s dream! I recently visited Sweet Mama’s for their St. Patrick’s Day specials, and I can confidently say this is one of the best brunch spots around! From the moment I walked in, the cozy, welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff made the experience even better. Now, let’s talk about the food and drinks—because WOW! I started with their Shamrock Cold Brew Flight, which was a coffee lover’s dream, and the Sip the Rainbow Mimosa Flight, which was as delicious as it was beautiful! Every sip was perfectly balanced, and it was such a fun way to kick off brunch. For food, I had their Pistachio Pancakes, and they were heavenly—fluffy, slightly nutty, and topped with just the right amount of sweetness. The Lucky Charm Milkshake was a nostalgic treat, bringing back childhood memories with every sip! I also tried their Homemade Chicken Pot Pie, which was warm, comforting, and packed with flavor. For something sweet, the Nutella & Banana Waffle was perfection—crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and loaded with hazelnut goodness. The Burrata Avocado Toast was fresh and creamy, the Chicken & Waffles had the perfect balance of crispy and savory, and the Corned Beef Hash Benedict was a must-try for St. Paddy’s Day! Not only was every dish beautifully plated, but the flavors were also spot on. You can tell they put a lot of love into their food! Overall, Sweet Mama’s is a 10/10 brunch spot—whether you’re looking for fun, festive drinks, indulgent comfort food, or the perfect Instagram-worthy meal. If you haven’t been here yet, you’re seriously missing out. Can’t wait to come back!
Cute breakfast restaurant in the Stony Brook Village. It’s great to come here and then walk around other shops or go to Avalon. Service was good. I got the tex mex Benny bowl, it was good, could maybe use a little more sauce overall or maybe a guac instead of sliced avocado but I liked it! My fiancé got the chicken and waffles and finished it all! I also had one of the special lattes. It came with a mini pancake on top, so cute! Definitely would come back!
I stopped by with a group for weekend brunch. It feels very cozy and nice inside. They have an ice cream bar by the entrance which has a lot of options. We ordered several items and they were all very delicious. The Oreo waffles are amazing!! I would highly recommend this spot as a good brunch spot for groups.
Service was 10/10 and the serving sizes were more than we expected. The eggs came out perfectly and had that runny drip that makes everything all the better!! Homefries were good and everything was so fresh! Although I didn't get the Big Daddy, the person seated next to us did and let me say, if you are a hungry person and want to take on that monster of a meal, GO FOR IT!!! 5/5 stars and would definitely go again!
Adorable little restaurant with an attached bar and ice cream shoppe. Andrea, our server, was a lot of fun and patient with my father. Food was comfort style. Everything was freshly made and tasty. Decor was really nice, with a lot of cool pieces. Parking could be an issue on the weekends, but during the week it was not bad at all.
We visited on a Sunday morning for brunch and had a really enjoyable meal. I ordered the Eggs Benedict, my 7-year-old son chose pancakes from the kids’ menu, and my sister had the avocado toast. Everything was well prepared — the ingredients tasted fresh, the flavors were great, and the portions were just right. My son especially loved the chocolate milk. It was served with chocolate syrup drizzled around the inside of the cup before the milk was added, which made it extra fun and delicious for him. One small note about the drinks: my sister doesn’t like cold brew coffee very much and felt the coffee wasn’t her favorite. I ordered a decaf tea, which turned out to be a regular Lipton tea bag. The first one was actually torn open, so I asked for a replacement. It might be nice if the restaurant offered a slightly higher-quality tea option to match the otherwise very good food. Overall, it was a pleasant brunch experience and we enjoyed our time there.
My family and I were in the area at a holiday celebration and decided to stop and eat at Sweet Mama's. The establishment was quite busy, and we had to be put on a waiting list. They take your cell number and you're provided a link in a text which will tell you your place in the wait, how long it will take, and also let you know when you are being called. I wish more places would use this method. I ordered a burger, and my family had an appetizer platter and mac and cheese. All the food came out quickly and tasted quite good. Portions were just about the right size. The service here was on point. Your food is served fast and hot. If you're in the area, give this place a try!
Great place to bring the family. Quick service. Decent food, all around. My kids almost always order waffles or some kind. They love them. (I generally only order burgers and chicken wraps, always good). We like the bar area in the back called Grandpas Shed and their outdoor dining area is really nice.
The food was extremely delicious and the quality and quantity of the food matched the price. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to eat in a chill atmosphere with the most attentive and polite waitors and waitresses. The food is so good and the workers there are extremely nice which is why tipping is important! And since the portions are a little on the bigger side, you can share your meals with your friends to save some money as well!
Few weeks back we tried this place on a lazy Sunday morning for brunch. We were accommodated soon despite there being a waitlist. The service was good, we ordered lattes, they were filling and good, the white chocolate brownie mocha a bit too sweet but I personally loved the chocolate hazelnut latte. Next we ordered veggie avocado burger, California Benny and another sandwich. They tasted decent, the breads seemed a bit dry, the fries were just average. For dessert we ordered ordered funky monkey, which was just decent in quantity and taste. Overall it was an average experience.
Drinks were the only good part. The food was awful no kind of flavor whatsoever we ordered breakfast platter the big daddy the potatoes had no flavor. The sausage links were overcooked. The pancakes were small enough for a toddler to eat. The only good thing about that dish was the toast. We also ordered a burger that was supposed to be medium well and it came out rare. It was bleeding all over my french fries the bottom of the bun had so much grease and blood on it. I had to send it back at that point in time I couldn’t even eat anymore. I paid $75 plus tip for food that got thrown away and some french fries that were overcooked with no flavor. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anybody if they gave me the option of just paying for the drinks and maybe a gift card to go back maybe I’ll give them one more chance.
