I was there with a large group for the Hibachi grill. We were a large group, so sat at adjacent tables. The chef for our table was Ben and he was great! Very funny and engaging. Service was great overall, as were the cocktails. The venue itself is very nice with some very aesthetically pleasing features. Easily the nicest looking Hibachi spot I've been to (also the most expensive but, it's worth it).
Coming to this amazing place is like being transported to China. Getting to the restaurant itself is a driving up a mountain. But when you get there is worth it! The scenery is so detailed and very organic. From the streams to the statues, to the zen sensation you received from mother nature herself. Moving forward, the food is to die for, the attention to the guest is incredible and the hibachi chefs are super talented and funny. The drinks ate a huge plus for me!
My first time coming here and it was so much fun! Depending on how many people are with you, you will end up setting with strangers, but it's always nice to meet new people! The chefs are engaging and try to make it as fun as possible! Food was good and the vibes were amazing! The outdoor garden and koi pond was also mesmerizing!
Such a wonderful experience on a mountain!Yoshi the owner is quite the charm, very sweet, attentive, caring, and gets to you know you personally. We had Modi for our chef, and he was absolutely cultured , funny, entertaining, and just full of Bollywood songs-incredible singer! I had spent my birthday there and I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. Yoshi surprised me with a birthday martini, I’m telling you they get to know you! Thank you for making my birthday so special. Can’t wait to go back! 🙏 I highly recommend!
Mt Fuji is one of those places you never forget. It has a very long-standing history in the New York New Jersy area as purveyors of high quality authentic Janapese cuisine. Trying to review a place that has withstood the test of time is difficult. Opening in 1985, there is not much that has not already be mentioned over the years. Paying close attention to typical Japanese tradition, this is not a place you will soon forget. Nestled in the Ramapo Mountains in Hillburn, NY, and a majestic entrance on Old Rt 17, you will serpentine your way up the drive to be graced with more authentic style Japanese decor and architecture. Beautifully landscaped with Koi ponds. The main steps lead down to the entrance where you will be met by a maitre d who will guide you to your reserved table. Reservations are strongly recommended. There are a few types of seating arrangements from standard table and chairs or booth to full size Hibachi stations. For a more private Hibachi type set up, reserve a tatami style booth which does require your shoes to be removed before seating. This is what we reserved this time out. My first endeavor with this type of seating. At first, I was a little apprehensive that I may be uncomfortable, but surprisingly it was fine. We started the evening with drinks (Zombies and Gin & Tonics) and appetizers. After having the Miso soup, Classic Makimono spicy tuna was fantastic. It is served with spicy sauce, tempura crunch, sesame oil and scallion. The Wasabi was really fresh and packed a better than typical punch. Dinners were Hibachi Shrimp, Bonsai Chicken, Mt Fuji Fulet Mignon. All entrees were prepared and cooked at our tatami style table. Entrees include noodles and rice, a garden salad with the best ginger dressing I have ever had. I've tried to duplicate it but no joy. Portions are just right (but that is subjective). The highly trained Chef does all the typical antics while cooking and certainly adds to the entertainment and a fulfilling meal. Our wonderful Chefs name is Hedy, and he is not afraid to engage in conversation while he works to prepare your parties' meals to precision; and that he did! Make your reservation and visit Mt Fuji in Hillburn. I believe you will be glad you did.
One of my favorites since I was a kid. Great food and ambiance. Chefs were showmen in addition to talented hibachi chefs.
Went for an after Valentine's Day dinner with another couple. Good thing we made reservations Becuase it was really busy. 1st time there and just getting there is an adventure, windy road, up the mountain. Outside is beautiful and they have valet parking. We sat with a family of 4 and they were very nice. Our cook, Andy, was hilarious and very nice. They cooks there did more singing and laughing than any other Japanese hibachi place I've been to. Food was delicious and very filling. The only thing was the drink sizes. Soda glass are slim and small. Also had a mango flavored margarita in a small glass. And $10 a margarita, thought a bigger glass would've been nice but I get why they do it 😉. Overall had a great time and very happy.
one of the best experiences I've had! interaction with the chef is part of the fu very interesting, entertaining and fun, the environment was inviting, relaxed with good energy. the food was tasty, I had steak (very lightly seasoned for my taste) but the seafood(lobster tail & shrimp) was on pont. my drink was strong but not over powering. we will definitely go back.
Always a great experience here !! The chefs do an awesome job at entertaining while whipping up delicious food! Drinks are creative && atmosphere is always bumping ! Make a reservation because even during the week this place is packed. They did really nice renovations to the entry way, bar area and bathrooms. Really gives the place a classy feel. Bartenders & waitresses always on point. Going for birthdays is fun & entertaining. Great night for a night out up on the mountain !! Oh and to top it off - the staff didn’t have crayons for my nephew but they did what they could with pencils, highlighters and paper. It was really sweet of them.
Amazing experience. Took my fiance here for her birthday, and she had an incredible experience the entire night. The chef was hilarious, and the service crew were on top of everything especially with some dietary restrictions our family has. Food was perfect, drinks 10/10, and overall atmosphere inside and outside was wonderful!
Great dining experience sitting communially around a grill with a live chef making your food in front of you! The Chef was also very comical, making even more enjoyable. A Great Meal & Great Time.
I had the privilege of throwing my daughter’s Bridal Shower at this historical venue. A treasure tucked away between both families residing in Connecticut & New Jersey. The catering manager Pia was calm caring knowledgeable encouraging lovingly informative with excellent guidance in making this special day even more special than it already was. Imagine that! The team of professionals were extremely organized calm sweet and helpful. The atmosphere was magical. My daughter was beyond thankful and the guests were happily stunned. Beyond perfect in every way. Saying thank you is absolutely not enough. Great experience that will be treasured as future memories for many generations to come. We Will definitely make Mt. Fuji a traditional place to visit with both sides of the family for years to come ♥️
Our all time favorite Japanese Steakhouse at which we have ever had the opportunity to dine. I would have given all 15 stars 5 for food 5 for service and 5 for atmosphere we usually have an incredible experience but most recently we had a bit of a strange occurrence where one of the employees was very upset about my daughter having a small Manila piece of paper that was attached to our check... my husband took the check off paid the check and gave the paper to my daughter. The employee came over and ABOUT ripped it out out my husband's hands. He said where did you get this. He replied it was attached to our bill. He said we'll that is not yours you cannot keep that. It was bizarre 😳 other than that we had a lot of fun the food and drinks were wonderful and our chef was good. Our favorite chef at Mt. FUJI is CJ if he is still working there and you have an opportunity to sit with him he was always our favorite and seriously wonderful helping to entertain our children with all the popular kids music! ❤️
My wife brought me here for my birthday. It was completely unexpected but completely fantastic. I can't even begin to explain how great it was. From the moment you drive through the red gates up the mountain you are transported to another world. You walk into the restaurant through a beautiful garden watched over by 2 Nio statues. Finally you get inside, sit out your table, and are transported hundreds of years into the past. We were served by EV who took care of all our needs and who very patiently introduced us to the way hibachi works. Hedy arrived shortly after to start cooking and he really put on a show. It was a truly magical experience. Hedy was a great host. He told jokes, knew popular Hindi songs, told great jokes, and kept us engaged for the whole event. We couldn't even start eating because we were so enthralled by his show. But when we did - wow it was great. Such amazing flavors and tender steaks. Expertly cooked and paired with the best sauces ... I can't begin to describe how it tastes. But I loved every minute of it. Hedy and EV made it the best birthday ever, and I am so happy we went here.
Been coming here with my wife of 14years and it has never disappointed us. From the quality great food to the fun and happy atmosphere, this place has it all. Beautiful location, the views are breathless and the employees are amazing. They have a Koi fish pond also! Love coming here for the food and the atmosphere!
I just went here for my birthday, finally got to visit this place after not being able to get reservations. So be sure to call a week ahead for a reservation on a weekend. The entrance going up hill to this restaurant is so beautiful. I absolutely love the steep and winding roads with the beautiful view. The restaurant's exterior, is designed to make you feel like you're in Japan. Service is good, the server could be more knowledgeable. She's friendly but she doesn't explain much or gives recommendations. Our hibachi chef, however, is excellent and super friendly. He made sure that we like how the food is cooked since they cook in front of you. Look for Domi when you select a chef, highly recommended. About the menu, they should expand it a little bit, add more items since people who goes there are ready to spend and try different dishes. We love the place, the experience, drinks. Hibachi is excellent. The place is definitely loud but full of energy and many customers like me celebrate their special occasions. Overall you should definitely take a drive to visit this place because the view itself is amazing and worth it!
Just go to the restaurant, you won't regret it.The view speaks for itself and the sunset is beautiful. Everything about this restaurant gives lux. From the garden and koi pond at the entrance to the table setups, everything is high end. Remember to make a reservation at least 1 week in advance, they're extremely busy on weekends. Tables are set for about 10 people so if you're party is less than 10 you'll most likely be sharing with other families. Typical hibachi experience, not alot of entertainment, but the food is quality. Also the drive up is steep and winding. I went during the summer so I wasn't worried but if its snowy or icy I wouldn't go.
What an establishment. From the beautiful entrance to the 5 star staff, this hibachi / steakhouse is a memorable one. There is plenty of parking and very spacious seating inside. The staff are taking extreme measures to continue business and regulate the safety of others and provide full services. Would definitely recommend giving this place a go. They have an amazing view of the city from the restaurant.
Most hibachi restaurants I have been to are about the same. Mt Fuji has an edge on the food (less oil), exceptional service and a setting that is truly above the rest. The effort put into the location is worth the visit alone
This place is beautiful! We celebrated my big sister birthday and was seated with another birthday group. The Atmosphere was fun, enjoyable and lots of laughs as a group. Our chef was fun and on point! Food was fresh, delicious and taste buds was happy! Drinks were definitely made correctly! We will be back again!
First thing first - it is not a random fake Japanese place, so make reservations before you go!!! We were shopping at Woodbury and searched places for Google and found this place. We just drove there without even thinking about they may not take walk in. As we saw the Japanese gate driving up hill all the way to the top of the mountain, and the valet parking sign, we knew we made wrong assumptions. We were lucky that some ppl cancelled their reservations, otherwise we would’ve had to leave. We waited at the bar/waiting area, ordered Japanese bear and cocktails. They have giant windows with beautiful mountain view. The wait was not long. We had 4 ppl so we ordered different items on the menu. Eventually we got to try shrimps, filet mignon, shogun duet, salmon, and sukiyaki prime steak. Loved the tricks our cook did, he sang and joked with us. He cooked everything perfectly. Meats were juicy and tender, not overly salty. The sauces went well with the meats. The entire dinner experience was great. We are thinking about having next gathering here. Can’t wait to come back!
Awsome Japanese hibachi. Good food good time good service. Always a treat to visit this joint! The views, ambiance, the hibachi show. All fantastic. A must do at least once, Saturday nite... reservation almost mandatory.
Food: Good quality food. The picture of the sushi roll is the Wasabi Tuna Roll and is definitly worth trying out! All the food was very tasty. Drink: The picture is that of the Fuji Fig and is incredible! Not too sweet, as you can still taste the fig and appreciate the vodka experience Service: Our main server was Hannah and she did a great job attending to everyone with topping off water, ensuring any allergies (which I had), and overall was a pleasant smile to add to the experience. Atmosphere: The journey up to the mountain really sets the mood. We arrived during the first snowfall of the year and it was really pretty. Inside was a lovely atmosphere that made me lose track of time and just enjoy the full hibachi experience. Our chef was very friendly and made the experience all the more better
if there is one think you do when visiting the area, please make it having dinner at mt. fuji. the entire experience from driving up the winding road all way through dinner and the friendly valet staff at the end is fantastic. our chef modi started off dinner by throwing fire with his bare hands and then proceeded to perform magic tricks and other improvised jokes throughout the meal. he was the funniest and most talented hibachi chef i have ever seen! the drinks are insanely good as well as all of the food. this place is expensive but worth every penny. don't forget to make a reservation because they fill up quick! can't recommend enough :)
You have to call for a reservation as there is no online booking for reservations. The bar is MASSIVE. The margaritas are great, and the wine selection is really nice. The start of the journey is through these amazing and large gates. You drives up a long and winding hill to reach the restaurant where you can valet or park yourself. Jay and Michael/Mike took care of us at the hibachi and Pedro was the lone bartender taking care of the entire restaurant with great care. The entire evening was wonderful. From start to finish it was a great experience. The bar took a few minutes to get a drink but there were also about 15/20 people in there waiting for our table, it was ready about 15 minutes before our reserved time and we headed back for a great experience after we paid for our drinks. Dinner was fantastic and we had such a good time, our table was 12 so we were seated with another group of 5. It was very nice.
Had an amazing dinner at Mt. Fuji, NY! 🙌🙏 They have valet parking, and outside, there are these incredible hand-carved statues. 🗿 Our server, Modi, was a blast—he made the hibachi experience super fun by singing Bollywood songs. 🎶 As a vegetarian, he made sure to start with fried rice and noodles for me, and later served chicken to my friends, so I didn't have to share the same food space. 🍚🍜 They also had a special birthday surprise. 🎉 The hibachi experience was fantastic! Modi's skills were impressive, flipping shrimp into his hat, creating onion volcanoes, and making everyone laugh with his jokes and Bollywood songs. 🍤🔥 The interactive cooking show was a highlight of the evening, and it made the dinner so much more enjoyable. 😄 Loved the in-house MATCHA ice cream (not too sugary) Before visiting, we checked their website, which says "Spirit of hospitality" is their motto, and they truly live by it. Mr. Yoshi spent the whole evening with us, cracking jokes, taking pictures, and making sure we had everything we needed. He made us feel like VIPs 😭. He shared stories about the restaurant's history, introduced us to other team members, and even personally greeted us at the entrance. His warmth and genuine care for his guests truly made the experience unforgettable. Can’t wait to go back! 🥰 One last thing: Mr. Yoshi is so down-to-earth that I couldn’t believe he’s the owner of this restaurant, which sits on top of a 45-acre private mountain! 🤯 PS: Special thanks to my friend Harry (owner of Make It Flow) for hosting this dinner party for my wife’s birthday. We love you! ❤️
This is probably one of the most if not the most amazing locations for a hibachi restaurant. It basically sits on top of a mountain and has a great view overlooking everything. There’s also a beautiful garden in the middle and a little shrine as well. It basically feels like we are transported into Japan. Not to mention the food was amazing and the entertainment was great. All around amazing service, food, and atmosphere. Will definitely come back and recommend anyone who wants hibachi and also feel like you’re in Japan without actually going there!! **Just to note you need a reservation before you actually go otherwise they might turn you away if it is very busy because they get very busy on the weekends**
My family is a long time Mt. Fuji customer! We love the atmosphere, the funny chef's, and the delicious food! We take our kids to hibachi for all celebrations (close to 20 years now) and for all major holidays. We love the show with hibachi and the filet mignon is impeccable!
This place has an amazing location and the view from the inside is fabulous. The food is great and chefs try their best to entertain you during the cooking time. The place is very spacious, so you can bring a lot of people with you for a dinner time, but don't forget to make a reservation before you go for it. Unfortunately, walk-in guests have to wait for a pretty long to be served. In general, I love this place and for sure will get back there soon for another hibachi portion. ❤️💕💜🤗😊💜👍❤️💕
This is a dining experience! Entertainment is included! We walked in without a reservation so had to wait to see if there was a cancellation. And there was! It's very warm in there, as the tables are all cook tops and very hot. So dress light! We ordered several things off the menu and it was all delicious including drinks. The chef puts on a show for you! They are all very nice and friendly and hilarious. The restaurant is beautiful. The view is killer! And it wasn't terribly expensive for 2 people including tip it was under 100$. And we both got drinks and dessert. We loved it!
I have been here probably about five or six times since moving New Jersey 7 or so years ago and every single time has been excellent. The service is always good. The food is always tasty. The prices are always fair and the view and atmosphere are hard to beat for the area.
It was an amazing experience from start to finish. I have always seen the establishment traveling on the highway since I was young. I'm very glad I finally tried it. Just the drive to it was unique, and immediately set the place apart from your average restaurant. The valet staff was nice and attentive, and I helped us right when we pulled up. The walk-in was something you would see in a James Bond film. It was very authentic and high-end. The views were instantly an eye grabber. Despite the cloudy day, it was still impressive. We didn't have reservations, so we had to wait a bit, but the front desk was kind pointed us towards the bar. We were greeted immediately and handed a drink menu. I had the IPA, which was pricey but worth it, delicious! My wife had a Pina Colada, which she said was good and strong! 💪 We checked out the views while we waited for our table, and the wait wasn't very long at all. Once we sat down, the real fun started. The place was packed and had a lot of energy, but I never felt the staff was rushing or behind in anyway. We had a few appetizers, which were great! Also, our Hibachi (Teppanyaki) meal came with salads and miso soup. My son, who doesn't like to try new things too often, loved the soup! Our waiter was attentive and fast with drinks and our food. Then, the Hibachi chef came to the table. He was very fun and entertaining, especially for the kids at the table. We all had a great time, and the food was absolutely delicious. I had the filet mignon and shrimp, and my wife and son had the chicken. It was great! They had a kids size, too, which was nice because we didn't have to get too much for him and have a lot left over, and the price was awesome. We have frequented a lot of Teppanyaki style restaurants, but this one was easily the best one we have been to. It was the whole package great food, great atmosphere, fun and energetic staff, and really great prices. Can't go wrong here. I highly recommend it. 👌 A++
The service was so personalized and thought through! The chefs brightened up our whole tables mood by being funny, singing, asking questions, etc. The food itself was good, but a little outdated. I haven’t gone to it in 3 years (before i went to it a few days ago) and the results are the same. But that’s ok, because it tastes amazing!
This place is absolutely stunning, from the driveway entrance to the tables. Design is beautiful and the entire place is spotless. An excellent choice to dine and enjoy for special Occasions. Service was top notch with everyone being so kind and attentive. Food is so fresh and high quality, you taste it with every bite. Don’t regret coming and will be back soon. Only downside was I was prepared food an hour after my reservation because they were waiting for more people to join our table and the portion size is the not biggest but makes up because of how high quality the ingredients are. Recommended
Wow, Mt. Fuji is something else! I went there yesterday, and I've got to say, I was blown away. The chefs put on a real show, cooking everything right in front of us. They were flipping shrimp, making onion volcanoes – the whole deal. The food is out of this world. Whether it's steak, chicken, or seafood, it's cooked just right and full of flavor. And if you're into sushi, you have to try theirs. It's as fresh as it gets. The service is friendly and quick, and the whole vibe of the place is just fun and relaxed. It's perfect for a date night or a fun dinner with friends or family. And hey, they're keeping everything super clean, so you know you're in good hands. So, if you're looking for a great time and some tasty food, head over to Mt. Fuji Hibachi. You won't regret it!
We had an amazing birthday dinner experience at Mount Fuji. The food was awesome. The ambience was amazing. The facility was amazing. i’ve never seen so many hibachi tables under one roof. i’ve been hearing about this place for over 30 years since I was a child of my parents went there for dinner. I’m glad I finally made it there.
This is an amazing 👏 place. Our guy doing the Hibachi was awesome 👌🏾. He was entertaining and engaging. He cooked our food perfectly. Anyone reading this post are encouraged to go to this place. It literally sits on top of a mountain over looking the Thruway and Rt 17 facing south towards New Jersey. I went at night so I wasn't able to see as much of the view as I would have liked. However we are planning on coming back once the weather breaks and when it's sunny out. I have absolutely 0 regrets coming here. My only question is why did I wait so long? I heard of this place years ago and it never dawned on me to come here.
Me and my family love this place! The food was delicious and the service was great. The whole staff were so kind and fun. They made my sons 21st birthday amazing .He is autistic so being out in public is hard at times.Thank you to everyone who served us with courtesy, smiles and great energy. We will be back again in the summer time.
My first experience at Mt. Fuji to celebrate mine & my son's Birthdays 🎈and it was very pleasant ☺️ Had night reservations so we couldn't enjoy the scenery. (So be careful driving up the hill at night!) Beautiful peaceful ambiance. Had a very interactive chef and food was delicious 😋 Started with a Colada and Martini. Did not disappoint. For dinner started with an amazing soup, fried dumplings, Shrimp bites, Beef duet and Shrimps and Lobster tail..everything was excellent!! Pricey but a nice experience
It was my first time in this place and I recommend it 100% they give you a warm welcome and you feel good. The food is very good 💗 I will come back here every time
We got here for the Mt. Fuji Summer Festival and lantern event. We have not sat down for a dinner there but the Japanese street vendors were great. The restaurant is very large with multiple little waterlines and gardens and a great view of surrounding mountains. A special place!
I haven’t been to Mt Fuji since I was a kid, maybe 30 years at this point and it was so nice to return! The upgrades are beautiful and still with so much nostalgia! We had a combined 1 year old and 40 year old birthday party and was so fun! Our server, Ferry, was fantastic and the greatest hibachi chef we’ve all collectively encountered - Domi! Domi was so entertaining and sang and danced while he cooked us a delicious meal. He was very attentive to our needs and we all agreed as big hibachi fans, that this was the most memorable experience! All the staff were so kind and friendly! Can’t wait to come back soon!
I never imagined hibachi could feel high end and luxurious, but this place completely changed my mind. From the moment you arrive, the setting is scenic and stunning, the property is beautiful with plenty of photo worthy spots. Valet parking was seamless, and our table was ready within minutes of checking in. The chefs and our waiter were fantastic, and the spicy margarita was absolutely perfect. The food was outstanding from start to finish. A thoughtful touch we really appreciated was a staff member adding training pieces to the kids’ chopsticks so they could start learning how to use them, such a great experience for them. We’ll definitely be back, especially during the daytime to fully take in the views and the property.
We had the most beautiful Christmas dinner at Mt Fuji. We have 2 family members in wheelchairs, the staff and facilities completely accommodated our needs. The table was ready when we arrived, the ramps inside and outside the restaurant were easy to navigate and gave us access to the lounge area after we ate. The staff was extremely helpful and attentive. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was perfect for the holiday season. One million stars!!!! Thank you Mr Fuji!
This is a must visit restaurant. The food, ambiance and service is excellent. Do dress up to fit in. Situated on a private mountain it offers excellent views of the mountains and is a treat in fall. Situated in New York state on the boundary with NJ and off I-87, it's a gem. I recommend you must visit. Don't forget to reserve before you go.
Mt Fuji is amazing! First the view is stunning and the decoration at the entrance is so beautiful. Then when you enter they have a beautiful bar and the welcoming atmosphere is amazing. We reserved a hibachi table and the experience was fantastic. They first served a delicious onion soup following with a delicious salad and shrimp for appetizers. After that the Chef came and did an amazing show, singing and doing tricks with the food. All was cooked properly and it tasted amazing! I loved the ginger sauce and the chicken, but in general all food was delicious! Great place for celebration of life or any special occasion, they give the extra mile to make it a great experience. Definitely 💯 recommended!

Since I was a little kid I remembered being curious about the “mystery building” on top of the mountain while driving upstate to visit family in the Adirondacks. 30 something years later my husband and I made the stop there and I was blown away. Absolutely gorgeous grounds and such a beautiful and clean restaurant with a great view! The service was great! Great drinks and food! Katty put on a great show. She was so funny and energetic. This place is no longer a mystery to me, instead it will now be a pit stop along the way upstate. I highly recommend!!

I had an amazing experience at Mt. Fuji! The dinner was delicious- our chef was great. The restaurant itself is beautiful and well-kept, creating a lovely atmosphere. The food did take a little longer to arrive than expected, but it was worth the wait. Overall, great for a family dinner or date night and I’ll be back.
1969, the Mt. Fuji Steakhouse restaurants have served as New York’s and New Jersey’s premier destinations for Japanese Hibachi cuisine. Specifically, the Mt. Fuji Steakhouse restaurant at Hillburn, New York, is an architectural splendor situated on a 45-acre private mountain, making it an iconic landmark restaurant unlike others. For decades, loyal customers, including a star-studded clientele, have come from all over to enjoy the dining experiences at our locations. Skilled master chefs perform personalized flaming presentations of hibachi artistry at tableside while preparing delicious and flavorful meals. In keeping with tradition, the Mt Fuji Steakhouse restaurants also offer fresh sushi, authentic Japanese dishes and a fine selection of sake. -- be prepared to spend your money!! expect $30-$70 per person. though the food is not much more better than any other hibachi I've been to. your paying for the ambiance. expect mandatory valet on the weekends, so bring cash!
Your typical hibachi restaurant. You pay for the experience and location. I wish the coloda was strained prior to serving but i can tell they had new bartender learning the ropes, so i picked out the coconut cream chunks myself. Nyc resident here. My partner and i stopped here on our way back from a skydiving trip. Highly recommend reservations for more then 2 people. Staff are friendly and the location is valet parking only I would had live to taken photos by the garden by the gazebo but we were told its only opened for weddings
The sushi was to die for!!! I loved it. I also loved the whole experience. Driving to the top of the mountain. Getting off the car to the vale and seeing how absolutely amazing the place and decor looks from the outside. It’s just so stunning. I feel like I’m at a whole other place. Make sure to make reservations. If you’re going with six or more people make sure to ask for the shoeless table. Makes the experience ten times better. The cook was entertaining. The food was good. Not overly salty or overly drained in sauce. He made a little I love you with the noodles. We went for our anniversary. Nice experience over all.
Family of 4. Not only do you have to make reservations all part members have to be there when seated. So we started off rocky. Once seated, space is limited so you can't order to many apps. Food was cooked very well. Drinks were ok. But for the price I shouldn't went to my local spot. Thought this place had scenery since we went for a birthday but nope.
Family friendly although your kid might not eat if they dont like noodles rice chicken or meats. Service was great. Call and make reservations gets busy on weekends.
The atmosphere is awesome. I went at night, but the view was still beautiful. I went for the dinner and I will be going again for the Sunday brunch. You definitely get enough food. Two drinks, an appetizer, and two entrees at $100. In hibachi nature the total meal does take forever to be prepared. So.... But overall - definitely worth it. Will be going again. Heady(my cook) is the man!
There is a valet. My brother asked if he can park himself the guy said no. I asked and they said yes. So I am not fully sure the parking situation. The table seats 9, there was 9 of us in the party attending. We had reservation but still had to wait a decent amount of time. I cant recall if it was more than 15 minutes. It was long enough for all of us to sit down and order drinks at the bar and actually get to drink them a little more than halfway before the timer went off. Service was awesome. Everyone loved their food and had a great time. I got the filet mignon with shrimp. It was decent. I ordered it medium rare and it was on the more of well done side. My daughter got the kids chicken. She didnt like the glaze on the chicken so she devoured my steak! I know a few of us got the Banzi Chicken with shrip or steak. My one cousin got the steak medium and she said it was perfect. Itis very loud. There are birthdays happening everywhere! The 9 of us racked up a total of $700+ not including tip. Which isn't bad for the amount of food and drinks we got. Someone ordered the white sangria, another had a drink with mint and peach, I believe, and I had the zombie. We all had multiples of these drinks... Make sure you have a DD. Its a very engaging experience from the chef doing the famous onion volcano to the songs and banter between everyone.
Food was delicious and plentiful, service was very good, atmosphere comfortable. One issue, the hot sake our server brought me tasted like it had ginger ale mixed in it, too sweet. I explained and asked the server to return it and bring a different one. It might've been an oversight by the server but it was the same taste as the first. We have had dinner at your establishment several times before and everytime I'd order sake with my dinner. It never tasted like the sake they served to me last night. It wasn't good at all.
My fiancé brought me here to celebrate my birthday. The restaurant has breathtaking views and great spots to take pics. The food was really good . I really enjoyed the miso soup. The shrimp, rice and noodles was pretty tasty as well. It was a bit pricey but overall a nice experience. The chef was funny and entertaining. Great job!
This place is absolutely beautiful!! So many areas to take pictures. The mountain views from the restaurant are breathtaking. Our chef was friendly and funny, however once we were seated we had to wait about 30-40 minutes for him. There was only hibachi option, no regular sit and eat options. I didn't like that where I was seated, the table next to us was so smokey my eyes were burning, not sure if the fan was messed up or what. The food was okay I had the chicken hibachi, a bit on the salty side. The drinks were amazing, strong and delicious. I would go back for the experience and the views.
My experience was very great. We did reservations for a party of five. We got there on time and it took like 25 minutes to get food starting we kept watching. Other people eat and leave food was great entertainment was nice. Saw people having birthdays. My only concern was the food service was very quick. We ate in like 20 minutes 30 minutes and then we left. The decorations in the place is very beautiful. I wish we sat in a smaller room outside with nice. Please bring an SUV or a truck because the mountain is crazy to drive in a smaller car.
Good experience all around. Food was good, sauces were a little disappointing but overall I would come back if in the area! Wasn’t a fan of Valet though, all it did was take up unnecessary time. Having to wait over 10 minutes for my car when I can literally see it in the parking lot is annoying — and they wouldn’t give me the option to avoid valet either.
The architecture and gardens are beautiful. Our chef was entertaining and engaging. The experience will depend on the tables energy. We were seated with 3 other groups of people..a bit crowded but the energy and response to the chefs performance was awesome and fun. The meats were fresh. I had filet mignon and chicken. The sesame sauce was delicious. I didn't like the same soy base on the noodles and the side sauce lacked ginger and flavor just tasted like soy sauce. We celebrated 2 birthdays at our table. The Dragon bit was underwhelming...not as shown on website. Just the head of the dragon by one person. The place was packed and it felt a bit rushed eventhough we waited a long time after being seated to be served. More hype than delivery. We made the best of it.
Food was fantastic, hibachi chef entertaining, beautiful view in all the windows BUT the wait staff didn't give you a second to breath. 3 of the 4 of us were done eating and they gave us containers But one of us was still finishing and they hovered, bought the bill. It was quite rude.
First time trying a hibachi was a bit disappointing. It’s ok price for the amount of food, around 30 bucks for chicken or tofu option and going up from there. I did not find the cook particularly engaging as i had the misfortune to be paired with a family that was not really having it and was mostly kids. But nevertheless i wish each cook did his own thing while i noticed the table next to us having the same exact show. So this would prevent me from going back another time. Also it is very very loud inside so it is not clear which vibes it wants to give off, fancy as the furniture and the cocktail prices or loud relaxed and family friendly?
I visited Fuji for their hibachi dinner and had a good time. From the moment we were seated around the grill, the atmosphere was lively and fun — perfect for a casual night out or a special occasion. The chef was not only skilled but also entertaining, with the classic hibachi flair: flying shrimp, onion volcanoes, and a lot of laughter. The food was fresh and flavorful. I ordered the steak and shrimp combo, which was cooked to perfection right in front of us. The fried rice was especially delicious — buttery and well-seasoned — and the vegetables had just the right amount of char. Portions were generous, and everything was served piping hot. Service was friendly and efficient, and the overall experience was well-paced, without long waits between courses. If you’re in the mood for a fun, interactive dinner with solid hibachi food, Fuji hits the mark. I’d definitely go back — maybe next time for the sushi!
We came here for a wedding reception. It’s a great location. Beautiful views especially right now in the fall season. There is valet parking and a coat check room. The whole staff was friendly and helpful. Lots of cool decor outside end downstairs. The food was very good. I would definitely come back to for a dinner visit.

It was ok. It is wildly expensive for what was pretty standard hibachi food. The parking lot kinda looked unfinished and not very thought out. Also I have a tiny 12 year old who barely eats and a 10 year old who devours everything, but according to their policy, only the younger one was able to get a child menu. I also saw a lot of food waste — so much of customers’ food got unfinished and thrown out because there is no choice of portion size. On a table of 16 people everyone gets the same amount of hibachi.
Beautiful view. Great food. Staff were great. Only thing is the hibachi chef was not that fun. Kind of boring and not as fun as other hibachi places we have been to. If you want a fun traditional Interactive hibachi this is not the place. If you want a beautiful view and beautiful dinner and hibachi food then this is the place.
Rating is solely based on food. The place is gorgeous! And the service is top notch. Everyone is very kind and doesn’t seem bothered by you like other hibachi places. The decor and service really set the standard high, so was really disappointed when the food did not meet my expectations. Nothing wrong with the food, just very average. Taste exactly like any other hibachi place. Delicious but not worth the uptick in price. They really need to add more garlic and butter to their hibachi meats and use fresher vegetables and they need to get yum yum sauce. Will probably go again for the ambience but this sadly will not be our regular hibachi place. For reference, we ordered Tokyo Tower roll, Bamboo Shrimp Hibachi and Shogun Hibachi.
I came here twice in the past few months - once for a friend's birthday, once for mine. My friend's birthday was EXCELLENT! We had so much fun with our server, she was super engaging and funny and really put on a good show. The food was good, and so were the drinks, and we really had a great time. A few months later, I planned to come back for my birthday so my nephew could experience the same fun! We were seatet in a different location (probably because we had a smaller party), which was ok, but it was very tight and we were sitting on top of each other. So much so, that we were wrapping our arms around the next person's chair to be able to have some room. Our server, while very polite and friendly, did the whole show thing but it was at the energy level of bare minimum. Sometimes it was even hard to hear what he was saying. He didn't do any of the same type of fire tricks or loud songs/jokes to get people hyped up. It was just ok. We kept looking over at other tables that were being loud and fun, wondering why we were not having the same experience. I was super disappointed for my birthday celebration, because my nephew said it was just ok and he wouldn't have liked to miss airsoft for it LOL. I think consistency is key, and all of the staff should come with the same energy for every celebration, otherwise it's quite expensive to not be sure of what you're going to get.
It was my first time experienced hibachi. Although, the onion soup tasted oily, no flavor. The salad dressing did not agree to my taste bud. The hot tea smelled like chocolate and did not have the flavor that I expected. I still recommend this place for the spectacular view. I was here on a snowy day. The sun came out right after we finished eating. The interior looked very nice, clean, spacious and comfortable. The chef was entertaining. The other family and couples that we shared the table with were courteous and engaging. Overall, I had a good experience at Mt. Fuji Steakhouse in Hillburn, NY. By the way, I had a matcha ice cream with cereal in it which is different. The food was ok, nothing spectacular about it. It is the view that I will come back for.
Its a nice place. But the hype just isn't met with what it used to be. Its the same routine for over 20 plus years. Its over priced, you're packed into a table area like sardines. And its 2+ hours long. And to be honest the taste just isn't there. Its so disappointing 😞 I will still go because I do love the view and its a childhood sentiment rooted deep in my family outings. I used to love their Sunday brunches. I wish they would have them every weekend.
This spot was on my list for quite some time. Our experience at Ft. Fuji was slightly disappointing from the start. Although the restaurant was half-empty when we arrived, it still took longer than expected to be seated despite having a reservation. The food is hibachi-style, which we were not expecting. The prices were steep for what was offered, and unfortunately, the ventilation was poor. Smoke and fumes from the grills filled the air, making the atmosphere uncomfortable throughout our visit. Our clothing smelled of smoke and fumes from the food. To top it off, the service left much to be desired—staff seemed inattentive, and we felt overlooked during the meal. For the price and ambiance, it wasn’t worth it. I wouldn’t recommend it unless they make some serious improvements. Driving up towards the establishment was good since there was no cars driving down. Once at the top of the mountain, you have to find where to park due to the lack of signage, you have to figure it out yourself. We were hoping for a memorable experience but that wasn’t what we experienced.

We’ve been going to Mt. Fuji for decades, so this was really disappointing. We went to celebrate a birthday with our kids and My husband found a long hair in his food — clearly not his — and we were all pretty grossed out. We let the staff know quietly and politely, but the only thing they did was remove a beer from the bill. After so many years of loving this place, we were sad to see how poorly the situation was handled. They also rushed to get us our bill and didn’t sing happy birthday or offer the pineapple at the end.
First, our reservation was at 6, we didn’t get sat until 6:30. We had two hungry kids with us. While we were waiting my kid found a mouse trap on the floor in the middle of our waiting area. The staff let it sit there even after I told them about it for 5 minutes and never offered an apology. I should have left right then. We went to our table at 630 and the cook didn’t start cooking our food till 745pm. Absolutely unacceptable, we were starving, kids were going crazy. The cook was funny and great, no complaints there. I will say everything was delicious except the noodles. Please consider a new recipe they are gross. Also I got the fried chicken (I can’t remember what it was really called) appetizer for my kiddo and half of the chicken was RAW and inedible. No discounts were given at the end of the night.
Went here with my wife a while ago, having gotten married, and wanted to try it out since we always go to the not so high class middletown Fujis. We love hibachi and loved the look of the place and decided we would go for our own private dinner for us. Using some of our gift money we put aside we sat and ordered a bit more than we would usually get, wanting to try everything out. In all honesty, the food was a bit subpar. We spent ~150 dollars to try out several things and some of it was good, but the majority of our main meal we wouldve preferred just spending our usual 30-50 bucks at the middletown location for the two of us. The service was incredible, a little slow on the drink refills for such small cups, but service didnt falter much at all, and the place itself was nice overall, just disappointing food. Would recommend fujis in the middletown galleria over mount fujis for food, but I cant speak against the place itself otherwise. I felt rich eating there lol.
We were drawn in by the restaurant’s Japanese-inspired architecture, with its clean lines, wooden accents, and elegant lighting that give it a high-end, modern feel. It really is a beautiful space. However, even with a reservation, we still had to wait nearly an hour before the hibachi cooking began. As an Asian, I found the food underwhelming. The noodles, fried rice, and even the meats were all cooked in the same soy-sauce-heavy style, lacking variation or depth of flavor. Honestly, I’ve had more satisfying Japanese food from simple neighborhood spots. While I appreciated the chef’s humor and entertaining tricks, at the end of the day, a restaurant should deliver on quality cuisine. Overall, I left a bit disappointed.

I am beyond disappointed with my experience at Mt. Fuji. We had a reservation for a group of 10 at 9:30 PM, but after being seated, we were completely ignored. People who arrived after us were immediately served, while we waited over an hour and only received chicken broth. After the long wait and lack of service, I decided to speak with an employee to express my frustration. Unfortunately, the conversation went back and forth for about 10 minutes, but in the end, we were just asked to pay. To add insult to injury, we were charged $112+ for a meal that barely even happened, which included a mandatory 20% gratuity fee. What really upset me was being charged nearly $40 for salad that no one asked for or wanted. Charging us for that with the lack of service we received is absolutely outrageous. This was, hands down, the worst dining experience I've ever had. I won't be coming back, and I strongly advise others to look elsewhere.
I made a reservation at this restaurant 2.5 weeks ago for a party of four. I want to emphasize that this is not my first time booking a table for four here, and in previous visits we were always seated at our own table. Today, however, I arrived and was seated at a shared table with another group that had children. When I asked the woman who escorted us why we weren’t seated separately as usual, she responded in an unprofessional and aggressive manner, with an expression as if I had walked into her home without permission. She then told me to speak to a man who turned out to be the manager — someone who clearly does not know how to communicate with customers. I asked him why no one informed me that we would be seated with other people, and whether it was possible to change the table. He insisted that I “must have been told over the phone,” even though I have booked the same table for four multiple times and this has never been the case. When I asked if he was implying that I’m hard of hearing, he answered, “I don’t know, but we tell customers what we tell them.” He continued speaking to me in an aggressive tone, repeating that I simply “didn’t hear.” I then asked if this policy was listed on their website, and he said no — and added that it was “my problem” for not hearing it over the phone. Additionally, after the meal, I chose not to leave a tip due to the poor service. As I was leaving, the server actually ran after me outside the restaurant and demanded to know why I hadn’t left anything. This behavior was shocking, completely inappropriate, and made the experience even more uncomfortable. No guest should ever be pressured or confronted over tips, especially after receiving such dismissive and unprofessional service. I do not recommend this place if you are looking for a pleasant experience or a relaxing time with friends or family. The customer service was dismissive, rude, and completely unprofessional.
Reservation taken for 15. They sat 15 people at a table of 8-12 max. Not enough chefs (only 5). Poor planning. Complete indifference on their part. Not a good place for larger parties. Chef showed up and started cooking 90 minutes after arrival and reservation time. Other than the view (during the day) this place is average. Too many other really good hibachi and sushi places. Far from bonsai...
The gentleman running the front of the restaurant, Owen, was rude, abrasive, short, with no customer service skills. The restaurant is too expensive and not that unique to have somebody working there with such a bad attitude. There’s better hibachi all over the tri-state area. You pay for the hill And I don’t even know if you can say the atmosphere anymore , Since they crowd you in they rush you out. The food is mediocre, nothing spectacular. Do not waste your money paying for the dragon birthday. It’s a big head with one gentleman, singing happy birthday and usually getting the name wrong. For an Asian culture, everything was rush, rush, rush. As a sidenote, the table next to me got some kind of a green ice cream drink for their child and told us not to waste our money. Crinkle her nose. It’s all hype.

Suffern's Mount Fuji: Hibachi Fun with a View to Remember
Whenever folks ask me about a unique dining experience right here in Suffern, my mind often drifts to Mount Fuji. Nestled in what some might call the broader Hillburn area, this Japanese spot isn't just about the food; it's an event, especially if you're leaning towards their hibachi tables. It’s the kind of place you go for the spectacle, the setting, and the shared moments around a sizzling grill.Let's talk about the stars of the show: the hibachi chefs. These folks really know how to put o
