Fun spot. We sat at the bar and had very nice service. Nice wine and cocktail choices. Menu had a lot of items that we wanted to order but for tonight we chose the charred Romain lettuce, the seared yellow fin tuna, and the pork chop. And to finish, the coconut crème brûlée and pain killer shots (because we saw people ordering them and they looked yummy!) Everything had great presentation and very nice flavors. The painkiller shots were as good as they looked. We were very happy! We will be back
The Longboard feels like it drifted in on a warm island breeze and decided to stay. The place has this relaxed, stylish energy that makes you settle in and enjoy yourself without even thinking about it. The menu is packed with fresh, bright flavors that taste like they were pulled straight from the water that morning, and every dish we tried was a hit. We loved it so much we went back again during our five day trip. The service matched the food and atmosphere, smooth and welcoming in a way that lifts the whole experience. This spot is easily our favorite in the Isle of Palms and Sullivans Island area. It has that rare mix of creativity and comfort that makes you feel lucky you found it.
Fantastic food and drinks!! The service here is top tier. Abby is incredible and was so helpful with helping me decide on drinks and food. You can tell the management does a great job running this restaurant! The fried rice is INCREDIBLE! Highly recommend getting it as an entree. Love the frozen Pusser’s Painkiller and the Sunshower cocktail! 🍹😋
Stopped in for lunch before heading to the beach and it hit the mark perfectly. I went early enough to avoid the crowds, so no reservation was needed but I can definitely see this place filling up for dinner or weekend brunch, so plan ahead. They were running a special on bottles of wine, which made it easy to say yes. My partner had the broiled oysters and couldn’t stop talking about them. I ordered the street corn salad with chicken, and it was exactly what I needed fresh, filling, and flavorful. The space is well-designed with a breezy, coastal vibe that fits the location. Whether you’re fueling up before a beach day or winding down after one, The Longboard is worth a visit.
The food was delicious and the service even better! Our server, Brittney, was awesome and had great recommendations for our group. I had local oysters, pan seared scallops, and potatoes. She recommended great drinks as well. I would definitely come back the next time I am in the area! :)
Our food was great. The restaurant is five years old but looks like it was built last week.. the place is immaculate and so clean and well-kept. The manager, Mark, visited our table and made suggestions for the food and cocktails.. all food and drinks were amazing. Our server was attentive (forgot her name but I know it started with an R), and she was super nice. 10/10 on all counts.
My partner and I went for oyster hour and really enjoyed it! He got the grilled oysters and I got the raw; both were well prepared and priced right. The cocktail and beer specials were great as well. The interior design is also elevated; it makes for a special experience even if you're visiting for a regular happy hour.
I just had my first visit here. I sat at the bar and had Steve as my bartender. He was great! He made delicious drinks and he suggested the tuna wrap. I got it without the mango…. it was amazing!! I also had one of the mocktails with vodka, it was also delicious! I hope many people get the pleasure of having him as their bartender when they visit. He was so pleasant and made the experience there very enjoyable! I can’t wait to go back and try something new!
Loved by entire family with teens. Two of us had tuna poke bowls (out of this work but tell them go lite on soy sauce and bring on side instead), seared yellow fin tuna and pad Thai chicken. Our favorite app out of 3 was the corn salad. Desserts a little disappointing, the coconut creme brulee was very dry oddly, the cookie skillet dessert was enjoyed. Would definitely go back!
My husband and I were staying about an hour away, but have heard so much about The Longboard Restaurant we made a reservation and made the drive from Kiawah to Sullivan Island. We are so glad we did. We started by sharing the Street Corn Salad and it was amazing! It has just the right amount of kick and the arugula was the perfect texture and flavor to compliment the other ingredients. Next we had 12 grilled oysters and they are the best we have ever eaten. For our entrees, my husband had the Berkwood Farms Bone-In Pork Chop and I had the catch of the day, which was swordfish. I love swordfish, but there is a perfection that most chefs never get right- if too undercooked- yuck, and if overcooked- even more yuck! Chef Michael has the Midas touch and it was perfect!! The carrots for the side and sushi rice was the La pièce de résistance to make the most scrumptious meal. If you are within an hour of The Longboard on Sullivan Island, SC- make a reservation and enjoy a delicious meal in a relaxing atmosphere. 5 stars!!! Special commendation to our excellent waitress, Caroline. She made sure our entire dining experience was perfect.
My wife and I chose The Longboard for our date night last night and I am so glad we did! We walked in without a reservation and waited at the bar for about 15 minutes for a table. The bartender was super friendly and answered the few questions we had about the menu. The restaurant is very nice inside and out and we loved the style and atmosphere of it all. When we sat at our table we were greeted immediately by our server, Caroline. Caroline was very sweet and courteous throughout our meal. Everything that we ordered was delicious! This was our first time dining at The Longboard but it will definitely not be our last! Thank you for an amazing time on our very coveted date night!
Ask for Caroline! We got the shrimp appetizer which were a little spicy but very good flavor. My amaretto sour was very good. I got a salad & a tuna poke bowl with cooked tuna both of which were great. My husband loved his scallops. The cookie skillet was yummy!
I visited with a group of friends while on vacation and can’t say enough great things about this place! Our server Brittney was very attentive to our large group and was knowledgeable about every menu item. The food was great and the drinks were even better. The chic beachy atmosphere and eating on the covered patio area out front made the experience 10/10. Would highly recommend adding this place to your itinerary if visiting Sullivan’s Island!
Amazing experience with my girl Lillian at the bar!! I loved her and she made me love this place. Food and drinks were AMAZING! So creative and so good. Completely my go to place from now on when I head to Sullivans island. 10/10!! Highly recommend.
We had the best time here!! The vibe is super fun and our bartender Lillian made the whole experience even better. She was so friendly, attentive, and just genuinely awesome to chat with. The drinks were creative and delicious—one even came in the cutest fish glass, which was such a fun surprise. Definitely a spot I’d come back to again and again!
Great seafood and land-animal options on the menu, super cool space with lots of bar seating. Staff is friendly! App rec: Spreads, Fresh Catch Ceviche Entree rec: Seared Yellowfin Tuna with Thai coconut broth is a MUST…incredible!!!!
What a wonderful experience from the vibes to the food, but our waitress Julie was the cherry on top. She provided the best service and excellent attention to our needs to match us with the best dishes! Everything was delicious! Would highly recommend and come back!
Very cute restaurant with good quality.enjoyed various dishes to share and entrees. Some highlights included the octopus, oysters, and scallops. Really good flavoring and pairing. Food came out quickly and they even gave us welcome shots pre and post dinner. Was such a lovely experience- recommend
Came in for brunch on a Saturday and had an excellent experience. We ordered the French toast, açai bowl, and blueberry, waffle, and all tasted great. The blueberry waffle had a nice lemony component that was very tasty. Our server provided some nice recommendations and prompt service. We also liked having a bottle of water on the table so we could keep refilling our glasses. A small but nice touch. It was really picking up at the time we left, so making a reservation is definitely recommended.
The Longboard on Sullivan's Island boasts the best happy hour in the Charleston area, making it a must-visit destination. Locally sourced oysters are reasonably priced and outshine those at downtown tourist spots. The cocktail and drink menu is extensive, but the true highlight is the exceptional service from our server and General Manager, Josh. Their "Unreasonable Hospitality" delivered with genuine charm made our visit unforgettable. Highly recommended!
Wow! We had an amazing experience at Longboards. We showed up on a snow day and had top tier service! We had their amazing happy hour deal they do on weekdays from 11am-5pm. Oysters were the best on the island. Recommend the Grilled oyster's! and their drinks are top 5 in the Charleston area. Get the false horizon! Ask for Caroline to be your server!
Awesome staff. Great food and the Mimosa Bubble deal was well worth it. Shrimp and grits and the Mainlander were both fantastic.
We sat at the bar for drinks and appetizers and had a great experience with Lillian as our bartender! Lillian recommended the Wadma-Law breaker, and it was delicious! 10/10 drink! We will be coming back here again!
I just love this place. I wish they had more gluten free options in food but the drinks are spectacular. I also love the decor and the vibe. Very classy cute place to go on my favorite island. I have enjoyed both lunch and dinner there and it has been amazing. Update: we frequent here a bunch and have always enjoyed our food. I spent my birthday dinner with 12 other women here and the drinks were fantastic!
The Longboard has become such a staple in my restaurant rotation here in the Charleston area. The staff is friendly and attentive, the menu is expertly curated, and the space feels like you've been transported to a tropical island. I especially love when they decorate for the holiday season. Longboard is a must-go for anyone visiting the area — make sure to try the Wadama-Law-Breaker frozen cocktail!!
My wife and stopped in during the afternoon of a sporadic rain day. Their wine prices are so good we bought a couple bottles to go. The interior design is deeply impressive. We sat at the bar and noticed the set up and quality of bar ingredients. They are serious about making high quality cocktails. We had an app but based on that I would believe everything else is just as fantastic. They serve raw oysters (not my thing) but they seem known for that. I would urge anyone to give it a try for drinks, wine and/or lunch/ dinner. We bought some CBD cans if that is your thing. The bar staff was amazing!
The true star is the shrimp roll: perfectly tender shrimp, milky-soft and crunchy bread, and fries fried to perfection. Their baked oysters are a standout too—fresh, flavorful, and utterly indulgent—while the raw ones are equally delightful. The tuna poke balances tenderness with a hint of saltiness, packing a flavorful punch. While portions lean on the smaller side the quality more than compensates—each dish feels like a nugget of culinary gold. The food was so good we couldn’t resist a second round of baked oysters and even added a taco to the mix. For top-tier flavors and meticulous quality, The Longboard is a must-visit.
Brunch was great! Outdoor patio on a sunny afternoon. We tried the shrimp and grits and the avocado bowl. Both were a hit. The whole place is all decorated for the holidays which is fun
Fantastic food, drinks, service and atmosphere….highly, highly recommend! Chef Delaney’s recommendation of the scallops was spot on and all the food was very delicious! Drinks, as well, were a 10 out of 10 recommend! You will not be disappointed and don’t forget to save room for the cookie skillet w/housemade marshmallow ice cream….😋
Our waitress Hannah was fantastic! We were walking by and popped in during happy hour. Great oysters and even better frozen drinks. We really enjoyed the sushi wrap and ceviche, they were both easy to share between 4 people.
Tia and Abby ROCK! They make great drinks, served us great food and they are so friendly! Will definitely come back! So give them both a raise so they don’t get pulled away by someone else!
Wowza, can't say enough great things about this place! Our server, Liz, was just the sweetest and was very informative about all the dishes. Our party of 5 went in not fans of Oysters but after trying their Grilled Oysters with parmesan and panko - we are ALL converted! So Yummy! We all had different dishes and loved the fresh ingredients and unique flavor combinations. And be sure to save room for dessert - because the skillet brownie with rum ganache and butter pecan ice cream is to die for! We will definitely be back!
This was our favorite restaurant while on Sullivan's Island. We especially loved the Poke bowls and Pad Thai. The food was fresh and healthy and the environment was clean and attractive. We will be back!
We just got home from visiting Isle of Palms for the connector run over the weekend. We had researched nearby restaurants and knew we wanted to try The Longboard. We made a reservation for our pre-race dinner Friday night, and Clarissa was our server. She was friendly, patient, and gave excellent recommendations. We started with the special appetizer - pork belly Bao buns, and whoa! they were delicious. We also got 1/2 dozen SC oysters, and then had the tile fish Dayboat and Pan Seared Scallops dishes, then Pot de Creme for dessert. Clarissa helped make our dinner experience so special that we decided we would go back for lunch before our trip was over! Also want to shout out Friday night's bartender (whose name we didn't get) as our cocktails were superb! So on our last day, we got there right as they opened and got to try the ceviche and more oysters! Hannah was our server and took good care to answer questions and tell us more about the island. I really wanted more pork belly, so I got the Breakfast Fried Rice, and my husband wanted to try the Tuna Poke. It was all delicious and the perfect meal to end our vacation. We will definitely make The Longboard one of our go-to restaurants whenever we visit. Who knows - maybe we will even make it out to the St. John location one day. The vibe and aesthetic of The Longboard is best described as open and friendly. Everyone from the hosts, to the runners, to the servers was welcoming and helpful. The restaurant is beautiful and clean and so hospitable that it really leaves you wanting to come back.
Brunch was outstanding! We started our brunch with a cocktail - Caffiend. It was delicious - vodka, brown sugar shaken espresso, vanilla liqueur and Irish Cream. Then we had the Breakfast Fried Rice - also delicious! We recommend both! Shoutout to Brittney for taking great care of us! She recommended the Fried Rice and she was right!
Stopped by and sat at the bar for lunch and had the best experience! Hannah was so helpful with guiding me through the menu and checking in to make sure i was enjoying everything. The food came out very timely and was so fresh and perfectly portioned. This wonderful guy named Mark with a vibrant style was circling around, checking in on people and so personable. Will definitely be back!
Lillian and Steve were absolutely incredible at Longboard Sullivan’s Island! Mark made the night event better! The food was already amazing, but the service made the whole experience unforgettable. They went above and beyond—friendly, attentive, and full of great energy. On top of that, they kept us laughing the entire time with some of the best jokes we’ve ever heard at a restaurant. If you want great food paired with even better service and a fun atmosphere, ask for Lillian and Steve. Highly recommend!
Lillian was so wonderful, we loved her cheery energy! The food and atmosphere were perfect for Valentine’s Day. Will definitely recommend!
Had an incredible experience at Longboard on Sullivan’s Island! From start to finish, the service was top-notch. Mark, the manager and Lillian the bartender, went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. Their energy and professionalism made the atmosphere feel welcoming and fun. We had the oysters, which were super fresh and expertly prepared—hands down some of the best I’ve had. The cocktails were equally impressive—creative, balanced, and beautifully presented. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the area. Amazing team, amazing food and drinks. Can’t wait to come back!
Brittany, our server, was very helpful in choosing our food. Her knowledge of potential did issues and interactions helped us immensely. We choose the grilled salmon (GF requested and delivered), Brussels sprouts (cross contamination is OK for my spouse), and the Caribbean salad. The salad was exquisite, wonderful flavors and very fresh arugula. Brussel sprouts were fried well and not oily; also great flavors. The salmon was tasty, with glass noodles in a broth with a wide variety of spices and herbs. Again, the flavor was awesome. Thanks to Brittany for her attention to our needs and for helping us choose just the right meal!
Been living in Charleston for a few years now and rarely drop into Sullivans. That changed instantly today. Food was excellent, atmosphere was stunning, and the bartenders were absolutely lovely. My wife and Tina and Abbie hit it off instantly and they made wonderful recommendations for the rest of our day. It’s such a pleasant surprise to sit bar top with such a wonderful pair and we will absolutely be back soon!!!
The Longboard is a great spot to stop by for dinner. It has a cozy atmosphere, and the staff are very friendly. The food tasted great, but the portion sizes were quite small for the price. Aside from that, the restaurant is a cool place, and I would definitely come back.
Cute place has a lot of seating options, sort of beachy but don't get fooled into thinking it's "on the beach" it's a good 10 min walk. The servers were friendly but seemed understaffed for the amount of people there at lunch time. The food was solid with no complaints but a little pricey for lunch almost $100 for 3 people.
We stopped by The Longboard Sullivan’s last minute after spending the day at the beach. The restaurant itself has a nice beachy vibe and the decor fits the island setting well. Unfortunately, the food didn’t quite live up to expectations especially for the price. I had the salmon poke bowl, which was okay but nothing special. My friend got the grilled salmon, and it was just average as well. The biggest disappointment was the shrimp cocktail, honestly one of the worst I’ve ever had. The shrimp didn’t taste fresh at all, which was surprising considering we were dining on an island. I think even store-bought shrimp cocktail from a grocery store would’ve tasted better. Since we were walk-in guests near closing time, the experience also felt a bit rushed, which didn’t help. Overall, great ambiance but the food needs improvement especially at that price point.
While the venue is lovely and drinks were always nice, the service is seriously lacking. Even though I had been warned by friends of this beforehand I was still left feeling very dissatisfied. The location is perfect, right off the beach so you would think they would do everything they could to add to this experience. There is a wall behind which you will find the bathroom. Every-time we walked by this wall you could see the majority of the staff sipping coffee and snacking. This is an extremely frustrating sight when you’re left waiting 20 minutes for your bill. I just think the staff needs serious training and a reminder that they are in fact, at work. When we complained about the service we were left facing dirty looks from staff members from behind the bar. I will absolutely not be returning.
We had a very mediocre experience at Longboards. When we first tried to go they said they weren’t taking walk-ins, and failed to mention the bar as an option. Online there were still reservations available for later in the evening so we decided to take one of those. Both when we walked in the first time and again later in the evening the hostesses did not seem to want to deal with us. The table was not ready until after our reservation time. We tried to order a few drinks but were told they were out of multiple things. The food we ordered was good, but overall underwhelming for the price. The waitress could barely hear what we were asking for because it was so loud between the noise of other guests and the music additionally every interaction with her felt rushed and like an inconvenience, which just compounded the disappointing experience.
Love the ambience, bright and inviting, not too dark like many places. They have an expansion cocktail menu but didn't really enjoy the one I chose. The oysters we started with tasted fresh. The food is offered as small plates meant to be shared. Our group of three shared one large plate along with three "small plates." We could have eaten 2-3 additional small plates but the cost would have been prohibitive. Our waitress Brook was very nice and attentive. Overall a perfect spot if you love seafood, don't have a big appetite, and can afford the prices.
Weird experience here. There were 2 tables seated at 6:15pm… we arrived 15 mins early for our reservation and they made us sit there waiting for 15 mins until our exact 6:30pm reservation. (As the 2 hostesses are just standing there looking at us and talking to each the entire time) — Our waitress didn’t even introduce herself… The food was good but super small portions. Incredibly overpriced. I would not return.
We were really disappointed with our first dining experience at The Longboard on Sullivan’s Island. When we arrived, we requested a high chair, but it was never brought to our table. Our waitress, Abby, took our order and brought our drinks, but after that we didn’t see her again. We wanted to order another round of drinks and oysters, but after waiting so long for her to check back in or even acknowledge our table, we eventually just asked for the check. At one point, who appeared to be the manager brought food to the table next to us but didn’t acknowledge that we were clearly finished with our meal. When we were leaving, that same manager was sitting on his computer in the back rather than helping the staff, which was surprising given the service issues. There were only about six other small tables on the patio, and the inside of the restaurant was nearly empty, so the delays in service were especially disappointing. As for the food, the ceviche was awful — the fish was dry and didn’t seem fresh. The burger was overcooked. When the oysters were dropped off, the busser didn’t explain any of the accompaniments and just set them on the table. The poke bowls were fine, but nothing memorable. Overall, we expected much better given the location and reputation. Unfortunately, the service and food quality didn’t meet expectations, and it left us unlikely to return.
I came here with my family from out of town because they wanted some fresh local seafood. Everything we ordered was horrible. The crab in the crab and avocado salad tasted rotten. The fish in the local fish ceviche was covered in soupy lemon juice and salt, leaving it tough and hard to chew. The fried fish sliders were brunt. The poke bowls tasted like nothing. There was a hair in one of the meals as well. I rarely write reviews, especially negative ones. But I feel so guilty bringing my family here.
