I love this place. The food is great. The staff is super nice. I moved to California from New York with a dream of finding an awesome neighborhood Mexican restaurant and I FOUND PEÑA'S TACOS!

Oh my goodness. Their food is so amazing. I love their ceviche tostadas the best. I moved far away but I go out of my way to go here as much as possible.

Hands down best Shrimp burrito i have ever eaten! Don't deprive yourself any longer..and go get one. Tarter sauce in the burrito is amazing!

The place was easy to find I drive by it all the time and I thought to myself today hey why not go eat there I find myself sitting in front of an order of asada fries that were so delicious the place was clean and they had a parking lot of course unisex bathroom and the food was fresh!!! I highly recommend

How am I just finding out about this place??! I live in Sylmar, but I am pet/house sitting for my best friend in Sunland and I decided to try them out for the first time. I got two tacos and a vegetarian burrito for lunch and split in half to eat the rest for dinner…….I was mind blown on how fresh the ingredients are, and how flavorful everything was! I have literally just now found my go-to Mexican restaurant!

A delicious family run taco shop. The street tacos are great. Most recently I had the nachos and they were very good and a hearty portion size.

I thought I already rated this place, so I am ashamed I hadn't yet. Authentic, fresh, Mexican food. AMAZING fish tacos, shrimps, burritos, guac... I don't eat meat but all of my friends who do love it just as much. It's got a cool vibe and Alondra is so nice and helpful. My favorite local spot for Mexican food, and I take every visitor here so they can have their minds blown.

Tacos are decent ( only had carne asada, chorizo, pollo, al pastor) so far. Rice is good and properly cooked. Can taste the lard in the beans (good). Great customer service! Can't wait to have the pozole and rellenos.

Wow! What a pleasant suprise! Stopped here for lunch and the al pastor wet burrito was hands down the best Iv ever had. The sauce is so rich and deep with flavor, the al pastor was perfectly cooked. The onions and jalapeno on the side perfectly roasted. Amazing meal thank you!

Very good food, full of flavor. I would return when in the area and definitely recommend this location. Lots of options on the menu.

I love that they have the non typical meats, lengua, buche, tripas, birria, etc. The Al Pastor always hits the spot though, sometimes they even sell out. The marisocos are prepared so well. Definitely try the fish tacos if you get the chance.

Their tacos are not bad at all, especially for 2 bucks each. The main attraction for me was the pastor, the tortillas, and the salsa. The red salsa is really spicy, flavorful and smoky, and brought the flavor up a notch. The tortillas tasted very fresh and homemade, with a strong corn aroma reminiscent of a classic taqueria. The pastor was perfectly cooked: seared and crispy outside but juicy inside. The marinades for the meat were just okay, and the birria in particular was rather bland.

Good meaty burritos. I ordered mine to go and liked the way they wrapped it. Service was quick and friendly. Plenty of good Mexican food dishes to choose from.

Probably the best taco shop in the whole Sunland-Tujunga / north valley area. Friendly staff serving great food. The decor and seating are a little run down though - but it is Sunland, so maybe it does suit the neighborhood well.

Food wasn't that great. The people are very nice. The place is older and smells clean just looks a little stale. Service is you and it's really pricey for what you are not getting. No server's yet you pay for it. we ordered nachos, two fish tacos and a cheese enchiladas and small taco it was 50. Bucks no drinks that was 5.00 extra. Like I said the food wasn't great. So I don't think I am going there again.

Went here because of the yelp reviews but it was not even close to my expectations. Paid about 10$ for a wet burrito and that was what I got. 10$ for a medium-small burrito and that's it. No beans, rice, or chips. Or anything. The burrito was good, the salsa was great! But beans and rice are so cheap, that if you're offering a small burrito it should have fillers on the side.

Sorry Peña, but i don't like your food, maybe I don't like Mexican food, but i got a carnitas quesadilla and it was awful, on top you have raised your prices like 100% in the last few months. We know you need to recuperate for the covid restaurant emptiness, but this prices are ridiculous.

After so many years of being loyal I will never spend another dime here. Not only was the owner disrespectful for a simple request common to most taco places( I’m Latino and this was all in Spanish) the chef went along with his nasty display of customer service. After a simple disagreement on him being able to accommodate how I like my tacos looked because the meat already sits in a premise tub.

Hard to understand how anyone can give this place 5 stars. When they first opened it was pretty good, however lately the portions are much smaller and less flavorful. Yesterday I ask for the cheese enchilada plate. I could not find any cheese let alone the enchiladas since they were covered with shredded lettuce. I have never had lettuce on an enchilada, I did not order a tostada. A very small portion of beans that were more like soup and the rice was fair. This is my second bad experience in the past two weeks. Needless to say for the money it is not worth it and I will not be going back anytime soon.

Straight garbage trash pricing does not match website carne asada plate is taco meat price as a real carne asada plate. Rice was old and crusty and the beans like water my tortillas all smashed together in the foil black specs all over it from the dirty grill and ontop of all of that the meal was 16 dollars

If I can give this place a negative I would they charge you 2 dollars for lemons there’s no toilet paper in the bathroom. They have little kids working and preparing your food. They prepare your plate and usually in Mexican restaurants you get a plate of rice and beans on the side of your tacos or any order they don’t that’s extra two dollars for a lemon no toilet paper service was horrible roaches and always empty. I wonder why there’s a better Mexican restaurant right down the street.

Ordered the crispy tacos with ground beef, but got soft tacos with asada. When I took them back they explained that they don't have ground beef, and that I had ordered the soft tacos. I tasted the asada. It was cold, chewy, and flavorless. Rice was bland. Beans were bland. Cannot recommend this place as cute as it is.
