The sourdough bread here is attractive. The clam chowder and bread were also delicious. The new menu, salad, is rather large. On the other hand, the breakfast menu is very small.

I tried the sourdough pizza for the first time and was pleasantly surprised! We also had the California veggie sandwich and tomato soup. The soup was not very tangy like at some of the other places. Overall, it was a good experience and will visit again soon.

I was visiting SanFransisco from Seattle. I have visited SF before but wasn't aware of this bakery/cafe. Visited their Sunnyvale location on Sunday night. It was just about 8 pm and they had closed for the day but we didn't want to leave SF without tasting their soup in bread bowl. I haven't had such tasty sourdough bread earlier. Tomato soup was also very yummy. Thank you Lynna. She packed us tomato soup with bread bowl to go with all the add ons. Not only did she pack us the items we ordered even though they were closed, she also gave us some sourdough baguette to take with us back to Seattle to share with friends and family. Thank you Lynna. We will definitely be returning to the Sunnyvale location Boudin bakery every time we visit San Francisco. Very good customer service and excellent quality and taste of everything that we ordered. Thank you !

We order through DoorDash almost everyday. The food is always delicious and the service is fantastic. There is often some issue with the app and the staff at Boudin are friendly and accommodating whenever we have to call

A solid Boudin location with good service. The breakfast plates are simple and plain, but affordable and served quickly. Meanwhile, the breakfast croissant was huge, buttery, and generously filled - I highly recommend it.

We were on the way home and ordered curbside pickup. Came out very quickly and everything was packages nice and cooked perfectly. The bread was delicious as always and our sandwiches came out excellent.

We often enjoy takeout from Boudin, but wanted to try eating in... until traffic shifted and we no longer had time! I let the folks know up front and they adjusted our order and got us out the door on time! Clearly these people are having a good day caring about people :)

Rustic tomato soup in the sourdough bread bowl is now one of my all-time favorites!

I’m giving this place a solid 5 stars. The lady i didn’t get the name of super nice and super helpful. They forgot my soup the first time and had put my name down for the next time. The lady that took care of me definitely took care of my order this time. By far the best customer service I have ever witness. If I ever get the ladies name I’ll include it cause she deserves to be recognized!

Soups are warm and served with crunchy nuts. Salads are fresh and are served with nuts and fruits that make them tasty as well. The combo option is very good for a lunch or dinner. Never had breakfast here though. The place is very clean. Sometimes, the staff forget instructions that you give them.

Great sourdough bread, pizza crusts, and deserts. I have had plenty of their bread and it is on point every time.

I come here quite often and I always order the same thing. The butternut squash soup is fantastic, and it goes great with the bread bowl sourdough. The staff is very friendly, attentive, and makes sure you get your food the way you want it (hot enough, dressing on the side if requested, etc). Note: interestingly I've had the same soup at another Boudin SF location and it was not nearly as good.

Don't sleep on their Gyro! It was fantastic. Great proportions and super delicious. Afterwards, relaxed with a friend over a hot cup of coffee (their drip is pretty good, wish they had more creamer options - need oat milk and raw sugar). Not sure if they have wifi but if so they're certainly giving Panera a run for their money. Look forward to trying new dishes.

As a sandwich and soup place, you will not be disappointed. The sourdough bread is among the best around, the salads are generous, and it is nice that they bring your food to your table. Bonus points for being able to have a glass of wine as well.

It tastes really good with high quality EVOO. It has nice uneven and thicker crust, but it is soft inside. Got it sliced in the store. Will try to use it for sandwiches. Hope they will bring it back regularly throughout the year.

I stopped to get a sandwich to take out. Lynna, the cashier took my order and I was impressed at how thoughtful she was in helping me. I got a turkey/cranberry sandwich and it was delicious and a good-sized portion. The bread was so fresh too. Love their sourdough bread! There used to be a Boudin near me but no longer so I only get to one when I'm traveling further from home.

Had the french dip with side salad. Both were excellent. Could not have been better... the red headed fellow that helped me was amazing. Great personality, awesome customer service, well rounded and made me want to come back for sure.

Nice big place. Lots of seating inside and outside. Prices are decent you can get breakfast for under $10.

I brought my family to Boudin Bakery to have my favorite clam chowder soup in a bread bowl. It was as always FANTASTIC but....the most impressive part of our dining experience was how POLITE all the employees were at the restaurant. Everyone from the girl taking our orders and accepting payment to the people who delivered the food to our table. Even my wife was impressed on how polite they all were. Kudos to your team at the Sunnyvale location. We were so impressed by the politeness at the restaurant that I really wanted to write this review just to express this. Great job to all those persons working at that location

Great and prompt service. Their summer ahi salad is delicious and their sour dough breads shaped like animals (fish, frogs) a total delight. The Asiago cheese sourdough is a great treat to take with as an appetizer at potlucks or dinner visits. Good idea to check your order when picking up, before leaving - sometimes it may be incomplete.

Way better than the first time I went here. More comfortable atmosphere inside, better selection of food, and free wi-fi which was sadly lacking a few years ago when I gave up on here. I'll certainly return! (I miss Yumeya Sushi, though and what's up with "Oishii Sushi"?)

But all in all I had a really tasty clam chowder sourdough bread bowl; I can eat quite a bit of food at a time and it was still filling so that’s a plus. I would recommend coming by for a visit!

We really enjoy the combo meals. I love the butternut squash soup with the Asian chicken salad. I always get the soup in the bread bowl, but I usually end up taking the bowl home to cut "petals" in the sides and flattening it before I toast it to eat with butter or cheese. They make tasty salads, sandwiches, soup and chili. Members of their rewards program get a free loaf of sourdough bread once a month with purchase.

We stopped in yesterday. You order at the counter as you walk in. Covid plastic between staff and us ordering apprciated. Good variety of menu items display with automated images and prices above counter. Prompt attentive staff. We both had sandwinch, a choice of sides and coffee. Prompt service and generous portions. Comfortable and well spaced seating areas. I gave it 4 stars becasue the bill was $31.38, for the 2 sandwiches and coffee. I know with covid that prices are all bumped and I see that most places now use coffee as another way to bump the bill. I’d recomend the place and we’ll go again.

I had a pretty decent grilled cheese with bacon. The kids meals were good with my granddaughters enjoying mac 'n cheese and applesauce. The patio was nice with it's steady breeze.

If you have a hankering for the classic San Francisco seafood chowder in a bread bowl, but don't want to head in to the tourist traps in SF, then Boudin is not a bad alternative. The bread bowl has a decent sourdough taste, and is usually very fresh. However, the chowder could be better I think. A little too much potato and not enough seafood.

I ordered a 2 item meal with clam chowder soup and a 1/2 original burger. The soup was very good and very large. The burger could have probably used some ketchup and/or mustard as it was a little dry. Service was quick and friendly. Meal with a drink was about $13 or $14.

I enjoy this place for lunch. My favs are the Turkey Havarti Sammie on slice multi grain, Brie & Apple Fig grilled cheese, seasonal turkey hot Sammie and the spring mix with chicken. If you do the pair, it's about 11 bucks depending if you do any upgrades or additions. It loses 1 star because my order was incorrect one time, then my order was stolen a second time, and then my order was not ready a third time. But I continue coming back because there are not that many healthy options nearby and I prefer it over Panera and ordering online is easy and convenient. My coworker always seems to have a poor experience with a Hispanic lady that works there when he picks up the order so he no longer feels comfortable coming there. In addition, they restrict only one person inside and it's cold outside.

I enjoy the food. I usually have it delivered. They would have had 5 stars but the toasted bread on the sandwiches that I have ordered, have been getting less and less over the past couple of months. I don't know if their toaster is dying or what. It's good quality food. Enjoy.

Haven't been to a Boudin in ages, but we decided to stop here on a whim and the food was really good. I got a BLTA with turkey added and my mom got the mac n cheese. We both really liked our meals! It was pretty pricey though, almost sit-down restaurant prices. It was $35 for a sandwich, mac, and 2 soft drinks.

Good spot to grab a quick bite. The pair deal is a pretty good choice, you could try two of the items at the same time. Around 15 bucks will make you filled.

Bread is great. It's nice that there is a separate libe/register for purchasing bread so it isn't competing with the lunch sandwich orders. Have also placed an online order for bread and it was ready for pickup when promised.

The loaves of bread are usually pretty fresh. I like the long sourdough bes, but twice out of the 4 times I been, it's been out, so I can't get it or I have to buy a bigger more expensive loaf. I love that they slice it for me and give me butter packs, but 3 or 4 mini butter packs are not enough for 3 of us to each 2 bread slices each. Their bread is so delicious with butter. Yum!

Had a difficult time getting the order correct. Requested no egg to the cashier twice on our order. Of course it came with eggs. Coffee was good except the pot was empty at 9am on a Monday. Only half and half, no milk or cream or non-dairy for coffee. Not going back.

Boudin SF is okay but nothing special at all. I had the clam chowder in a sourdough bowl and my wife had the Millionaire BLT. The clam chowder itself was pretty good, but the bread bowl was super chewy and not that fresh. The BLT is made with candied bacon, now it's pretty good at first, but after awhile the sweet sugar on the bacon overpowers everything else and it's just a bit too sweet. Overall it was average and if I had to pick a place to eat, it wouldnt be here.

The clam chowder bowl here is pretty good. However the prices here are very high. I do not believe the food here should be the same price or high than the price at Panera as they do not use the same quality supplies and ingredients. Overall ambience is good and the food is decent.

This is nice, but average lunch spot. I only had a coffee and a croissant. Both were acceptable, but nothing special. Same for the service and atmosphere. I would go again, but calling this a Bakery is a mistake.

Food was okay. Service not so good. We ordered 3 meals in one order. 2 hot meals where delivered in a timely manner. After the others finished their meals, I went in to see where my sandwich was. Well, it was sitting on the pass. My "hot" sandwich was now a cold sandwich. When they say "your sandwich will be right out" don't believe them.

We love Boudin sourdough and I've eaten at this location many many times (including 3 times in the last week). However, tonight I had an experience that made me extremely frustrated and made me feel like I wasn't valued as a customer. My mom & I placed an online order of one pick a pair (soup & sandwich) and one full sandwich. We placed our online order at 7:57pm, without realizing that it was almost 8, their closing time. We drove to the restaurant, and got there at 8:15. My mom walked to the door, where it was locked. An employee approached the door and said that the order came in "too late" and that they had already turned off the grill. She said they cancelled the order and we could go home and request a cancelation and refund. We received no email that our order was cancelled. Our items didn't require the grill. There is no way for us to cancel our online order on our end. If orders can't be made until 8pm, then the online ordering system shouldn't accept orders. At a time when restaurants are struggling, we were really surprised they refused our business, due to laziness. We now have to call tomorrow once they're open, to get a refund of the sandwiches we never got to eat.

I came here out of curiosity to try breakfast and it was decent. The bread was really good considering that's their main selling point. However the rest was fairly mediocre and nothing to write home about. For the staff, they seemed distracted and not as attentive but that could be as I managed to get here right at opening. Either way I didn't feel too welcomed. I would have to try another time of day to get a really good handle on the food.

Boudin SF offered a convenient and comfortable spot for a group lunch. They have ample seating options, both indoors and outdoors, which is great for accommodating different preferences. I opted for the classic crab melt. While it was tasty, I would have preferred it to be served a bit hotter. Overall, Boudin SF is a solid choice for a quick and easy lunch.

I often have a decent experience here but i was disappointed by my recent take-out order. I ordered a cup of soup + sourdough roll kids meal and didn’t receive the roll, and received a different cookie than what I ordered. I also ordered the yogurt parfait which I’ve ordered before but for $7 is I ridiculously small amount

We had not spoken to this employee but he could allegedly read our minds. We were ready to order but were waiting for self order as there was no one present at ordering counter. When I encounter such situations, it's a waste of my energy to point out his error. I just make it a point not to give any future patronage to this location. Customer service was lacking and attention to clearing and wiping tables clean did not seem to be a priority even when few customers were present.

I have been coming to this location for quite some time and have noticed a change in management and behavior among certain staff workers. Things seem to have been running more smoothly when Doug and Fox were there. I've noticed a bit of an attitude with some of the staff and feel that these employees should be reprimanded on their behavior.If they cannot work well under pressure and in public, they should be replaced with someone who is willing to provide the best level of customer service.

I feel bad giving this place 2 stars since the staff was very kind and welcoming, but the food was just not good, so the bottom line is that I wouldn't recommend coming here. My fiance and I ordered the mushroom and swiss burger and a combo meal with a roast beef sandwich and bread bowl with clam chowder. The burger was overcooked, the sandwich had way too much sauce, the bread bowl and bread on the burgers and sandwich was stale, and lastly, the clam chowder was alright, but it just didn't make up for the poor quality of the rest of the food. The staff was very friendly, but I just don't think that the food quality is worth coming back for.

My wife and I had lunch there 2 days in a row and we both ordered the jalapeño grilled cheese sandwich and salad. The first day they forgot the dressing on my Cesar salad. Today, the second day they forgot the cheese on both, my wife and my jalapeño grilled cheese sandwich.. Poor service and unacceptable food.. Make sure you get exactly what you ordered and are paying for !

Rarely give any reviews but this time I decided to write something: Besides being pricey, quality of food was at best mediocre: Half of the displayed pastries were not available. Ordered the Pick-A-Pair option choosing Soup and Salad: Clam Chowder soup was mostly thick blob of extra, extra, extra heavy cream, the amount of clam pieces were ok. Chicken Spring Salad didn't contain 1 piece of chicken Coffee was mediocre. The Rasperry Bar pastry piece was ice cold (Person at register just took it out of a fridge and put in paper bag) and looked like it was half baked through only. Waste of money! Better off going to Panera Bread.

Let you know that this was San Francisco location, not Sunnyvale...First time for me to visit here, food I ordered was dynamite good, grilled cheese with bacon is so darn good, tomato soup was rustic and flavorful, take your time and order, differed items seem to appear and appear.well that sounds like a good start, but it wasn't, first of all, crowded beyond as usual, then rude manager starts moving people behind us to faster line, again, behind us. Then, the reason we go to this place (bacon grilled cheese) they forgot the bacon. So people beware, check your order and maybe wait a bit longer, you may get lucky and moved to a faster line than the people in front of you.

Confused orders, had to return. My salad was ok, my friend's sandwich was toasted way to hard, hard as rock and super dry. Asked for new sandwich and it was better but still hard & dry. Her tomato soup was ok. Depressing cafeteria atmosphere and way overpriced for what you get.

Unfortunately this specific restaurant didn't meet our expectations. The service we received was bad the cashier had no interest in assisting us had a rude attitude. The lady who brought our food I believe her name was Jymmy had the same attitude. Food is not good. My wife ordered a cranberry Turkey sandwich with a salad. The sandwich was overall was bad and her salad looked like it had been sitting on balsamic for quite a while. I ordered a begue burger, which was hard to bite and it was more like a slider than an actual burger. Wouldn't recommend this location.

They announce the caprese sandwich is made with burrata, but there was just cheap and exiguous mozarella. The bread (what was supposed to set them apart), was dry. The avocado was unripe and also scarce. Ah, almost forgot, the "garlic" bread was horrible, worst ever.

Was picking up an order, the ladies behind the counter need pretty good doses of caffeine to wake em up, they were not able to pack cooked food from the kitchen counter, the pizza got ice cold sitting in the counter. literally felt bad to pick up cold food.

The service here on weeknights has been consistently poor. The latest time takes the cake when there is only a single order up on the pass, which is obviously ours since no one else was there, but the three workers have to talk about their vacation or something. When we asked if the order was ready we were impatiently told to wait and that the order wasn’t ready yet. Then after five minutes they take the completely untouched bagged order and hand it to us. It’s a shame since my kids love clam chowder and we’ve probably just gotten unlucky every single time we came given all the other good reviews.

Visited the Sunnyvale store today with my wife. She ordered a chicken salad sandwich and I ordered a turkey and cranberry sandwich. For some reason when the order was delivered to our table, the the turkey and cranberry was delivered as a soup and salad rather than any kind of sandwich. I looked back at the receipt and I had indeed ordered correctly, and asked the staff to correct the order. When they finally did deliver it right, I picked up the sandwich off of the plate to take the first bite -- and the plate's food surface had a 2-inch diameter 1/8 inch thick splotch of crusted cheese that looked like it had been baked on in their dishwasher. Yuck! I will not be returning to that store.

it was my first visit to this place, i ordered a sandwich chicken pesto, i really didn't like it, the bread was so hard to bite maybe you should hot a little bit the bread, it suppouse was fresh bread but it wasn't 😅!

EDIT: they responded to my review and asked me to follow up in an email, & they never responded. It seems like they try to resolve issues in public, but doesn’t follow up. I placed an order on DoorDash & I couldn’t be more disappointed. We order from here all the time & almost 4 out of 5 times, they always mess up our order. This time, they forgot all the drinks and my pastry & got our order incorrect as well. Please train your staff to be attentive.

Don’t order online and expect the order to be ready. It takes them double the time to complete the order. Lady is rude at the front. My food sat getting cold while they made the shakes. Then when the milkshakes were done it was like milk in a cup. Not sure if the a milkshake should be thick or not. So I asked does this look right she said we are trying to make them. I asked doesn’t quality matter and she said I will make them again. At this point it is almost an hour since I placed my order. They are complaining because they had to make all these shakes. There were my three and six other ones. Not sure the staff can handle any volume. They need retrained. I wish I didn’t order online so I could get my money back. My food is now cold and my drinks are still watery.

Bad experience! Boudin now covers their metal serving containers in flimsy plastic bags. I ordered tomato soup and that came from metal heated container with the plastic bags inside where hot food is served from. It is carcinogenic and unhealthy to have plastic bags to store hot food. The serving folks ignored my concerns about this when I pointed it out

The food was really good we loved the chicken pesto sandwich the only bad thing is the waitress she was very rude to us she threw the plates to table and dropped part of my salad and then she left without saying anything and also the cashier was so rude when taking the order. Just bad customer services

Tend to order on DoorDash, but whether you order delivery or in-person, food is always late to come out from the store. They don’t have enough employees to staff their orders, and Dasher or whoever has to wait forever. They refuse to do anything about it, hang up on you, etc.

I was told the total was $10+ dollars. When I questioned this, I was told that I could not purchase soup as a side unless I ordered it together with my sandwich.
