Opinions de Peppermint Indian restaurant Sunnyvale
All the dishes were amongst the best I have tried in the US. Lots of options. Service, ambience and presentation were all at the high end for a reasonable price. Unless you need non veg or alcohol, the best north Indian restaurant in the Bay Area. Hopefully they maintain it this way
Food: got the chicken bao and it was delicious! It had a semi sweet flavor and the pickled onions and cucumber did well to balance out the sweetness of the chicken. Wished the bao buns itself were a tad thicker so that it could hold the chicken better but super delicious overall! Experience: I think the menu could be arranged better in a way that very clearly distinguishes vegetarian dishes from meat dishes and the sides as well. It would also help to see how the food items look like before ordering especially for those who are unfamiliar with some of the food items.
We went back here after a gap of many months. They changed the restaurant to a vegetarian one but the new menu is very good. The food was very tasty and the lovely man who seated us and served us the food is so friendly and nice. He remembered us from our last visit!
Came here for dinner with the family, including little ones. Impeccable service, absolutely delicious food. Mr. Snowdon was wonderful in explaining the popular decisions and making suggestions. He was kind and attentive and the kitchen prepared the items quickly. Kerala fried chicken definitely has vibes of Chinese food, but was sweet and spicy and crunchy. Chicken and egg kathi roll was flavorful and saucy. Sweet potato chaat was tasty but could have a little more dahi. Yellow dal fry was great, especially for the price. Premium butter chicken with garlic naan was probably my favorite! But the masala fries were definitely the babies' favorite dish (we had to order a second because the toddlers wiped out the first one). Soya chaap Tikka with tandoori roti also made a solid wrap. It's a beautiful restaurant that is very tastefully done (no pun intended). Parking is easy, restaurant and restroom are clean and well-maintained. We'll definitely be back and highly recommend!
Food is just amazing here! We ordered jackfruit cutlets, cheesy stuffed mushrooms, paneer lababdar and methi chilli paratha. Alll of it was excellent specially the stuffed mushrooms and cutlets. Malai jamun desert of just perfect. Very satisfied with the service and quality of food. Highly recommend for date night dinner as the ambiance is fantastic 🥳
First time trying this restaurant, the place was very clean and the service was amazing! The food was fresh and didn't take too long to come out. The mango lassi was very good and refreshing to start off. The samosa chaat was also must have to start. The chicken sizzler was grilled perfectly and paired well with the green chutney. The chicken sandwich and chicken tikka masala were also had really good flavors and were not too spicy. I would definitely recommend PepperMint as the food is amazing and not too pricey!
Our server Snowdon was great. I highly recommend the jackfruit cutlet, garlic naan, Kadai paneer. The biryani, potli samosa chaat, and gobi paratha were good. We went at an odd time so that’s probably why, but the same three songs about rain were on a loop the entire time we were eating
Just wanted to give a shout out to Peppermint restaurant. We catered food from them for an event yesterday, including a live chaat station. Food was delicious and everyone loved it. Especially the chaats, jackfruit cutlet , chai, paneer lababdar and rabdi jamun dessert. Neat, well organized, professional and reasonably priced.
We had a lovely dinner here. The food is hearty and flavorful and presented beautifully. The service is genuinely friendly and attentive on a level that is rare to find in the Bay! The ambience is fantastic and the price is just right too. A must-try if you're looking for a classy dining experience.
If you’re craving for Indian food with American twist, this is the right place for you. I went with my family, and we absolutely enjoyed everything we ordered. The prices are reasonable, the food tastes delicious and the ambiance is very aesthetic. I’m definitely coming for Kathi rolls, the butter chicken (ofc) and the gulab jamun cheesecake!
This is a small, simple establishment that serves delicious Indian food! It is clean and well taken care of. The server was very kind and gave us good recommendations. We had the samosa chaat and sizzling tandoori shrimp for starters- both very flavorful. Our main course was Southern Indian chicken curry and Chana masala with rice, garlic naan and raita. So delicious!! We enjoyed a chai tea for dessert which was a perfect way to end our gastronomic delights. We will come again and bring our friends and family!
We had Samosa Chat, chole bhature and paneer tikka roll here. Our servers suggested their specialities too and Snowdon(our server) was very sweet spoken and helpful. Chef Rahul prepared amazing dishes. For desert we had gajjars halwa and gulabjaumns, which were really good! Nice atmosphere, nice food, nice service.
Discover the newest hotspot in Sunnyvale, California, nestled in the heart of Silicon Valley—Butter Chicken Social. Whether you're craving chicken kabobs, chicken kati roll, or their irresistible gulab jamun cheesecake with berry sauce, this place has it all. Despite initial hesitations about the dessert's sweetness, it pleasantly surprises with its perfect blend of flavors, textures, and sweetness. Plus, the restroom's cleanliness is remarkable. For those seeking quality dining experiences and willing to invest a bit more, Butter Chicken Social is sure to become your next favorite restaurant.
Amazing gem in the heart of sunnyvale. I wonder why we never tried this before. Extremely welcoming staff, best aloo tikki in bay area, great north indian pure vegeterian food. Loved everything from curry, rotis, chat, lassi, mojitos. Will definitely visit again!
I’ve visited this restaurant several times and have been greeted with the same warm smile and excellent service by the waiter every time. The jackfruit burger is an excellent seasonal choice if you’re bored of traditional burgers and craving something new. The Cauliflower 65 is my must-order item every time I visit and recently we tried the Chef’s special Thali which was wonderful.
Best North Indian food in bay area. It's a pure veg restaurant with quick service and service is great too! Staff Snowdon was very welcoming!
This place was surprisingly nice and great food. It sits quietly on the el Camino Real around a bunch of Indian restaurants and yet has a distinct flavour and quality of food. We walked in for lunch on a windy Saturday afternoon. The place was not crowded at all with ample seating space and its super clean and tidy. Now moving the service, there is only one person that handles service and hosting at the place and he is surprisingly good at his work, calm, warm and welcoming and yet patient enough to suggest vegetarian dishes highlighting the different flavours in each of them. Moving on to food. Just a word to begin with wow, the food is actually awesome and stands out from the rest of the Indian restaurants around. The flavour is seriously something I haven’t tasted before especially the jackfruit cutlets, the veg curry oh wow, was made so well and just amazingly flavourful and yet not greasy or high on spice. The place reminded me of the Indian restaurants in the mid-west, which caters to very taste hungry people those that love relishing the Indian cuisine supported by the choice of music. Over all I totally enjoyed the food the service and the atmosphere. Will I come back ?? Totally
It was our first time dining there, and everything exceeded our expectations. The food was absolutely delicious, the service was the best, and the place was spotless. We would love to come back here again! Highly recommend!
One of the best Indian restaurants I’ve been to! Everything we tried was delicious..especially the peas pulao and the paneer Manchurian. The Manchurian wasn’t like the usual tomato-sauce type you get at other places..it was super flavorful. And the peas pulao had that amazing ghee aroma and taste and the butter naan was super soft….so fresh and comforting…The place was clean and had a calm, welcoming vibe..…Definitely coming back!
It's really good. The ambience, cleanliness and most importantly food is just amazing. Close to Apna Mandi, this place is the only North Indian food joint in the vicinity with some unique food items like Jackfruit burger. Snowdon and Chef Rahul are very nice and give great hospitality and food. 5/5 from me! We had veg schezwan noodles, cheese stuffed mushrooms and Malai Jamun. Everything was delicious. I highly recommend Malai Jamun.
Thali had many varieties for its price. Food was tasty and flavorful, just the gulab jamun was too sweet and syrupy. Ambience is pretty nice with good service.
As a non-Indian Asian, I enjoyed PepperMint. It's a casual dining place that is located where the old McDonald's was. The food is flavorful, and the server was attentive. I don't know why it doesn't have more customers when we were there for Saturday lunch. I totally recommend the samosa chaat, the tandoori chicken platter sizzler (weekend only), and the butter chicken, very nice. The curry for butter chicken is smooth and delicious. The only downside of the butter chicken is that there is not enough chicken to go with the curry. It's that good. The garlic naan was delicious. And we also enjoyed the Kerala fried chicken in the non-vegetarian platter sizzler. It's on the pricey side. But give it a try when you are in Sunnyvale.
The service was really good! Came here for my daughter’s birthday and I enjoyed the food. They went vegetarian recently and it’s pretty good south/North Indian food. I got the thali and it was worth it for the price. Owner was nice!
Good food and great service. Nice, clean ambiance. The Jackfruit culets were great and the south indian Chicken curry tasted authentic and homemade. They are centrallly located though possibly challenged by being right next to the popular Madras Cafe
"Delicious Experience!" I recently tried the butter chicken, chicken sandwich, and kathi roll at this place, and I must say, it was a fantastic culinary experience! The butter chicken was rich and flavorful, the chicken sandwich was a delightful blend of textures, and the kathi roll was undoubtedly the best I've had. The flavors were on point, and the quality of ingredients was evident. The service was prompt, and the ambiance added to an overall enjoyable meal. I highly recommend trying these dishes! This spot has become my go-to for a satisfying and tasty dining experience.
Tasted the cauliflower 65 and Southwest Indian Chicken Curry with white rice. The cauliflower was crunchy, very lightly spicy. Delicious. The chicken curry was also very good and mildly spicy. Also tasted the fried chicken. It looked dry but was everything but, also excellent. Service was very attentive, with lots of recommendations and advice. I liked that there was no plastic involved with dinner, real plates , utensils, and glasses. The restaurant is very clean and looks new.
The lunch thali was delicious, had a large variety, and was very filling! I met the chef, Rahul, at checkout and he did a great job. The portion size is very generous. The jackfruit cutlet is a great app too. Really warm and friendly hospitality as well!
Hands down the best restaurant in San Jose! We tried the South Indian prawn curry—the fresh masala and curry leaf aroma were incredible. The chicken tikka was exceptional—flavorful, perfectly spiced, and incredibly tender. Our server, Snodin, was very kind and welcoming. Highly recommend this place for authentic Indian cuisine!
My husband brought me here after work to fix our routine indian cravings. We were seated right away by the host. The place itself is clean, good ambience and has a nice mix of bollywood music playing at the background. We ordered gobi 65, kerala fried chicken, goat curry, paratha, peas pulao and chai. I will come here again. The total experience was very good. A clean place to bring out of town guests or friends at work. I also noticed their plates and glasses are stoneware from Japan. These small details make this place fabulous. The portion sizes are adequate and everything tasted great. I will come back again to try rest of the menu.
First time at PepperMint. The interior was beautiful, it felt like fine dining. We liked the plants that decorated the windows and the modern ambiance. - Our server, Snowdon, was outstanding - he did an overview of the menu and pointed out the popular dishes. We thought this was nice especially because it was our first time here. - We ordered the Premium Butter Chicken with rice and Garlic Naan (which was delicious). Snowdon suggested us to try the Chicken Boti Kebab - this dish was flavorful and did not disappoint!

Had an incredible lunch here today! I was genuinely impressed by the quality of every dish. From the starters to the coffee, everything tasted remarkably fresh and made-to-order. The jackfruit cutlets were a standout, and the Gulab Jamun dipped in Rabdi was absolutely phenomenal. If you’re looking for authentic, high-quality North Indian vegetarian food, I hope you try this place out . PS the menu is vegetarian only

We came here literally 10 mins before closing and they graciously let us sit in and finish our meal. The place was almost empty at that time so we appreciate that consideration. We ordered the butter chicken roll with egg and chicken drumsticks and a tikka pasta for my toddler. The chicken rolls were amazing, probably one of the best I have had in the area. The pasta too was really flavorful and good and my son enjoyed it quite a bit(and he is a picky eater), the tandoori legs were unfortunately not that great. It looked amazing and I was drooling just by looking at them but there wasn’t much flavor to it. It just tasted very blend despite looking so mouth watering. I am happy to come back anytime again to try more dishes here and ofc for the rolls!
A must try for fast food lovers! Yes, they do offer vegetarian food! We ordered a chicken Kathi Roll, BCS chicken sandwich, chilli chicken bao, masala fries and gulab jamun cheesecake. Everything turned out to be great apart from Cheesecake, which was okayish. The place offers a lot of variety of food, which will keep you coming back for more.
The ambience seemed clean and well maintained. The presentation of food feels nice and the quality of ingredients is also good. If the food hit the spot on taste and flavor that would have been a full score. The paneer Kathi roll lacked seasoning. Fresh ingredient such as cilantro or cucumber would make a difference in the roll. It was loaded with excess dry spices. The chilli chicken bao buns are well made and were fresh and hot when served. The buns can be less greasy though. The cheese cake was more like scrambled eggs, over cooked and more of refrigerated gulab jamuns than cheesecake. The crumble and compote is a nice touch though.
Newly opened restaurant with plenty of veg options and indian alcohol options. The ambience was okayish. Its not a fancy restaurant. The service was quick and courteous. We ordered pav bhaji, veg and non veg platters. They were tasty and came with generous accompaniments. Overall a good place but not outstanding.
Good food. Nice service with a fast-casual setting. OVERALL a unique place! I got the butter chicken and rice. The butter chicken was tasty, creamy, and sweet. The chicken was tender which I loved, however it was nothing special. I also got the Kerala Fried Chicken which I really enjoyed the sweet and sour chutney that it was served with paired perfectly with Che crispy salty chicken! I also got the butter chicken bomba which was amazing. It had a crispy exterior of dough and a spicy butter chicken interior! So unique. However the portions for the bomba was extremely tiny! The service was so nice as the employees were very welcoming and the inside of Butter Chicken Social was really cute! The only problem I faced was the price compared to the portions which was just not worth it. OVERALL I would definitely reccomend, very unique and tasty!
Bought the Chicken Kathi roll, Tangdi kabab and soya chap tikka masala. First of all, their chicken & egg Kathi roll was amazing! It was very tasty, flavorful, not too much spicy. It’s much better than a lot of other places! 8/10 for that. Chicken tangdi kabab is worth trying too. Even their green sauce is good 👍 Secondly, please don’t buy SOYA CHAP TIKKA MASALA. It doesn’t even taste soya chap! It does not have a soya texture, it’s like a fake chaap. Please use a good quality soya chaap else don’t offer. Ambience is good and servers are friendly.
Butter Chicken Social offers a distinctive fusion dining experience. We sampled a variety of dishes, and everything was quite delicious. The jackfruit burger and masala fries stood out. The drinks were also intriguing. The Bao was decent, and the Kati roll was enjoyable. The atmosphere and service were both pleasing. The chaat could do with more chutney.I look forward to returning to explore more of their menu.
This is a 100% vegetarian-only menu. The food was okay overall — the curry tasted like it had been precooked and just reheated, but the naan was delicious. We went when there was no one else in the restaurant and the ambiance was very full, but the service was great because of this.
We were disappointed to find that Butter Chicken Social had transformed into Peppermint. While some menu items remained, the bao and momo we craved were missing. The sandwich and Kerala fried chicken were decent, but it wasn't quite the same. Nevertheless, Peppermint seems promising, so check out the menu and give it a shot.
Update - They changed menu to only vegetarian options. It used to be Butter Social. I prefer the Butter Social menu to be honest. It was unique and fusion. Would come more often for their unique options. The new Peppermint is not bad at all. We enjoyed all the dishes and the service was great.

I wanted to like this but it was just ok. $18 for butter chicken and a small garlic naan about the size of a salad plate. It was a sweet sauce, no salt. The chicken was not dry but it was breast. The cauliflower 65 seemed more like a manchurian cauliflower from frozen. The mango lassi boba(?) seemed more yogurt than a thick mango. Service was ok, neither friendly nor too helpful. He forgot my brother's lassi and he was in the kitchen after he brought out our meal. The servings seemed smaller than what we are use to. It needed more spice.
Went in to try the Jackfruit (kathal) cutlets that were recommended by someone and the kathi rolls-bith chicken and paneer. While the cutlets were nice and crispy (nothing exceptional about them), the rolls were a big disappointment. The service and the ambience were good.

The service, location and cleanness was impressive but the food was terrible. Just terrible! It felt like all of our north Indian entrees had sugar and were sweet and not savory as youd expect. The server just suggested a new dish which we ordered and that too turned out to be sweet. So it was the sweet spicy paneer lababdar which was so bad that we didn't eat it either. As good as Madras Café is, this is as bad.
I placed a takeout order for the chicken sandwich and masala fries. The pictures below was what I received. The curry was excessively oily and fries were flavorless, which made it difficult to enjoy. More importantly, I didn’t receive the dish I ordered, which was frustrating. When I called the restaurant to address these issues, the staff was rude and unhelpful, offering no solutions or apologies. They are not good at processing takeout orders, and need to display information more accurately.
