This was my first time coming here, my friends have told me to try it. My wife and I loved it everthing was tasty the crab legs we delicious the butter so good. The service was outstanding very attentive great job all around.
I love the vibe! So much to take in. The staff was friendly and on top of it. We walked in off the street on a whim and they took great care of us. Make sure to show up hungry! I tried the Hawaiian Ahi and would recommend!
Pirates will love this dive with a beach vibe and excellent service. For the cost, it’s a cool experience for a business meeting, birthday, or just to go. Crab was excellent and prepared to help make eating it slightly less messy.
We love the king crab legs and tomahawk steak.
Looks can be deceiving from the outside and upon entry. But once you're seated the serving staff is wonderful. They work as a team and are very accommodating. Tim was our server and he made great meal suggestions. The crab, lobster tails and the prime rib were some of the best entrées I've had in some time. They make their own salad dressing, the Bleu cheese was outstanding. The cheesecake was rich and creamy. Even their ginger beer was delicious. I highly recommend!
Captain Jack's is a very popular place known for it's seafood and prime rib. The service was INCREDIBLE... Especially for a party of 9. Each had their own function, and they executed everything with high precision and attention! The food itself is top notch, and the portions are so big you will most likely have leftovers for a day or two. Highly recommend... You need to make reservations will in advance!
Don't judge this place from the outside. If you Like Steaks or Crabs, or anything else they have on their menu, you come to the right place!!! This place is fantastic. Food is amazing. Huge portions! smaller menu at the bar, but the MP ($25) prime rib quesadilla has full steak in it! Price may seem high, but for the quality and the portions, it is well worth it. Make reservations, because they get really busy. they have a bar area first come first serve with limited menu and music on week ends. Drinks are ok.
My boyfriend and I love this place. It’s so classic. Prime rib sandwich on garlic bread, no lettuce, side of avo. (Recommended by our first waiter) It’s HEAVENLY and it’s all we get now. The sandwich is ginormous so we usually split it for dinner. Sitting anywhere in the bar area is always fun.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ If you want an unforgettable dining adventure on Coast Highway (Sunset Beach/Huntington Beach border), Captain Jack’s is the place! ⚓️🐚🍷 The food was out of this world — the 🥩 filet mignon was melt-in-your-mouth perfection, and the 🦞 lobster was fresh, buttery, and full of flavor. The portions are huge and the taste is unbeatable! I admit I overate because it was that good — especially the warm homemade bread 🍞. The atmosphere is pure magic ✨ — I had dinner on the patio at sunset 🌅 and it was breathtaking. Inside, the whole restaurant feels like you stepped onto a ship 🚢 — with wooden walls, hidden exits, and a cool vibe that makes it feel like a secret passageway. The service? Absolutely royal 👑💫. Not just one server, but a whole team making sure you’re treated like a king or queen. At one point I had five different people checking in — it’s next-level hospitality. And just when I thought I couldn’t eat another bite, out came the dessert platter 🍨🍫🍓 — set right in front of you on a big tray with tempting choices. I couldn’t resist the chocolate & raspberry sorbet truffle, drizzled with rich raspberry sauce… oh my goodness, it was divine. A perfect ending to the feast! I went for my 🎉 birthday dinner, and it couldn’t have been more special. Yes, it’s on the pricier side ($100+ per person 💵), but the experience is worth every penny. Between the flavors, the sunset, the ship-like atmosphere, the dessert indulgence, and the VIP treatment, this isn’t just dinner — it’s an experience you’ll never forget. 🌊🌟 ✅ Highly recommend! Everyone should experience Captain Jack’s at least once in their lifetime.
We've dined here at least 25 times over the past few years. Captain Jack's just never disappoints. From the moment you arrive you are treated like a celebrity. Ronnie the manager does an amazing job along with his staff to make your visit memorable. We come for the Alaskan King Crab legs! Absolutely spot on every time! We've celebrated birthdays, special occasions, and Christmas Eve here. If you want to impress someone like a date or perhaps a business dinner....trust me this is the place!
First visit, but not the last. It's tight inside, but a great atmosphere. Dark and moody. Came with my friends. We were served the bread. Very good to be so plain. Try not to fill up on it. Lol. 2 of is ordered the Red King Crab. This is a must-order! So good, so succulent. The butter warm. Add the squeezes of lemon and you're in yummyville. One ordered the prime rib. Which is also huge. He really enjoyed that as well. Service was wonderful. Continually made sure everything was going good. Made sure to take away the crab shells. The plates they give for the crab is not big enough for the size of the crab legs one eats. It was all good. I cannot wait to return for more good eats! I will drive an hour to treat myself to this deliciousness! Thank you Captain Jack's staff for good eats and good customer service.
The food is amazing. Fresh snow crab legs are a must-order. Ribeye is huge and we have to share. The server is kind and willing to explain the quantity of each order. We enjoyed the meal very much. The only downside is the restrooms. They only had 1 stall in the ladies' room and the restroom was so tiny. We are about 5'4 and felt so BIG in the restroom. Besides that, it is recommended to try !
The Red Crab is delicious if you order the half crab half steak please get the prime rib or else you're give be unhappy their steak is rubbery and not good. I have never tasted crab so sweet. This is my favorite place to eat crab hands down. Market value is $150 for 20lbs of crab which is about 5 to 6 legs.
I was initially a little worried when we walked in because it was so loud due to the live music in the bar area, however, we were quickly escorted to the back dining area which was nice and quiet. We started with sautéed mushrooms, which were very good, especially with the bread provided. We ordered scallops and the linguine and clams, which were both excellent.
Very Old school vibe : dark paneling, huge leather chairs, a menu that does not cater to trendy food, but sticks with the tried and true classics. Looking for a special place to celebrate a family's birthday, new job and successful project launch, all in one night. This spot was a unanimous pick. Warm sourdough and rye slices of bread are served still warm with delicious pats of butter. I got a New York steak, grilled medium rare - it had some slight chewiness and some gristle, but overall was fine. Prime rib is a THICK CUT. Initially had planned to share with someone but got greedy. Comes with side of rice or sliced tomatoes (I find that odd) , plus mixed green salad with house-made dressing. Everyone got a surf & turf combo - one got lobster tail , one with crab legs. Seafood combo is stacked with crab legs, scallop and shrimp. Our entire party of 4 went with Bleu cheese dressing for the salads- they do not skimp on the cheese here! We opted for a dozen Blue Point RAW oysters. Also good but I wish they had kept the brine in the shell. Served with cocktail dressing, horseradish and wedge of lemon. This spot is iconic, with nautical decor interiors plus a lot of aquariums. Street parking is limited, but they have a private lot right across the street.(it was no charge & self park for us, no valet). We got the baby butter noodles (No kids' menu here). The other option was a grilled cheese sandwich. Cocktails seemed very old school as well, I got a Lemon Drop and that was delicious! I could have had three of them , lol.
This is a really cool place with an old school vibe and decore. The service was fantastic, they really take care of you. Ordered a second beer and it came so quick you would think the tap was under the table. Food was very good, I had the steak and crab legs which were both very tasty. I did take of one star for the price. I felt the cost a bit high for what you get. Nonetheless, it is definitely a neat place and I recommend giving it a try.
This is a local favorite for those who enjoy a classic American dining experience. The décor and ambiance might not be the trendiest, but the restaurant’s location right next to the river ensures that the food is always fresh. The seafood here is especially recommended—the king crab are fresh, large, and served hot, which is a refreshing change from the cold crab legs often found in Las Vegas. However, parking can be a bit of a challenge. There is valet parking available across the street, which is convenient if you don’t mind the added service. Overall, if you’re looking for a place with great seafood and a local charm, this is a spot worth visiting.
The atmosphere is fun and the servers were attentive. The food was fine, but incredibly overpriced. Two salmon dinners and a seafood platter - no drinks, no appetizers, no dessert, just a basket of bread slices and iceberg lettuce salads - totaled $250.
Came here with some friends. The service was excellent, and everyone we interacted with was attentive, friendly, and helpful. It was pretty packed on a Friday night around 8 pm, but we had a reservation, so no issues there. The menu offers a lot of choices, and I had a tough time deciding. I ordered the Ahi Steak and Shrimp Cocktail, which I enjoyed at the time, though it did leave me with a bit of a stomach ache later. Overall, it was a fun night out with friends, but a little too expensive for the quality of the food. Although my friend really enjoyed the oysters.
Definitely worth a try if you are in the area and looking for king crab. The place is dark and dinghy and not for those who are claustrophobic. Most of the dishes are market price, so best to call before coming or ask before ordering to avoid any surprises. All dishes come with a salad and bread. The blue cheese dressing and Caesar dressing are worth trying. The prime rib (only comes medium rare) leans more towards the rare side so be forewarned. The king crab is nice and filling, but the price is steep for 20 oz. Dessert is your basic cakes with the house specialty being the mud pie.
From the outside, this place looked like a casual dive bar, so we expected a quick late lunch/early dinner. We arrived around 4pm and were told seating would begin at 4:30, with a table by the window set aside for us. When 4:30 came and the restaurant filled up, we were still waiting at the bar. After a long delay, we ordered an appetizer (which was good!) just to pass the time. Unfortunately, the bartender was noticeably unwelcoming toward us (ignoring us unless we called for him) while being very friendly to others, which was uncomfortable—especially as my dad is a person of color and everyone else at the bar wasn’t. At 4:40 we checked in with the hostess, only to learn we were never put down for a table (even though she took my name down). While they corrected it, we were seated about 15 minutes later on the opposite side of the restaurant. By then, our appetite was mostly gone. I ordered the clam linguine, which arrived extremely overcooked and mushy—disappointing given the prices. Didn’t bother saying anything or complaining because we can give grace when a restaurant is nearly full on a Sunday evening. The only bright spot was the bussers and bread service, who were excellent. We spent over $100 on drinks alone and still felt poorly treated. If you have high standards, I wouldn’t recommend. Overall, not worth the visit, especially if you aren’t Caucasian.
Food is nasty and expensive. Spoke with rude manager Ron regarding quality and quantity he didn’t care. Been going to captain jacks for over ten years. Paid 140 dollars for some crab that wasn’t fresh and was smaller than snow crab. Ron kept talking about the price of crab went up, everything went up. The crab is and always has been market price. He continued to talk about the price. I didn’t care about the price I care about the quality. He says the price changed but the weight of the crab didn’t. I’m older and don’t eat as much as I use to. This is leftovers from last night and leftovers from last year. Read reviews before you go here and go to the red lobster instead. I don’t like red lobster but it’s better than captain jacks .
