I go to taco surf regularly, which means I most definitely like this place. I started going, because it's my friend's favorite place. It's my favorite place for Mexican or maybe it's more American Mexican good, but the food is very good. My regular order is something I had which was on special one day and they create it for me now every time I go. In case they don't want people special ordering all the time, I'll just say, get the scorpion chowder. Yummy.... it's very good on some of the other items. The service there is always excellent, no matter who is there. That's a good sign of great management as well.
Second time coming to this location:) food is always good:) the staff was great. There was an older gentleman that was amazing making sure we had all we needed:)
What a wonderful restaurant. Wanted to have a tasty bite after a long flight and was pleasantly surprised. We were greeted by our wonderful host Sabrina who made the trip all worth it. She recommended the fish tacos which were superb. Wish we could experience service like this everywhere I dined. I feel like an experience at Taco Surf without Sabrina is an incomplete experience. Will be returning for sure for more tasty tacos :).
My wife and I love this place! Their Brandy Salad is huge and you should definitely order the fish of the day. Their guacamole and salsa are really good. The soft tacos are very stuffed!
This gotta be the best tasting mexican I have ever had not coming from Mexico itself. You won't be disappointed coming here.
The birria taco taste amazing although I was expecting a full cup of consomé instead of a really tiny sauce cup. The carne asada entree is a lot of food and the meat is super soft. The $5 lemon blended margarita for happy hour was also good. Good vibes and service.
We were visiting on vacation and ate here and the food was SO good! The carne asada was some of the BEST we've had, ever! I've had a lot of good carne asada but this one was definitely above the rest! The shrimp tacos were amazing, the fresh pico de Gallo and guacamole were also delicious! I'd drive all the way back out to eat here again! The service and staff were great too, super friendly and attentive. If we were closer I'd be there all the time!
I've been here twice and both times the food and service have been so good. Their grilled fish tacos are so delicious. I live 30 miles away and would drive just for their tacos. Their fried Serrano chili's so good. I also took a bite of my friends bean and cheese burrito and it was so good too, it melted in my mouth.
First time dining here. The food was very good 👍 all four of us agreed on that. Service was quick and friendly. They have outdoor sitting, which worked great for us, thumbs up for cleanliness 👍. We will return for more 🙂
Me tmand the wife always love coming here. We never really had any bad experiences since we starting coming here. The food is always great. The Alamo is what started it off for us. And then the chips they give you to start the meal off are always warm. The parking is the only thing that sucks but if you park a little ways down the walk helps you after you're meal. Great place.
I loved this place! Great, big portions of wonderful Mexican food! I had two of the sea food tacos, the shrimp and their regular one, and both were wonderful. Also, I came in on a hot day, and had a margarita, and let me tell you, that was gone quickly! It was delish!
We had Taco Surf cater our fiesta! The food was absolutely delicious. Everyone raved about it! The service was superior! I will never use another restaurant to cater an event absolutely perfection!
If i had to choose one food to eat for the rest of my life, it would be the scorpion chowder. I'm going to name my newborn child Scorpion Chowder. The glass of water i got was super bland compared to scorpion chowder, hence you should put scorpion chowder on the drink menu. I want to be able to buy a bucket of this at a time and keep it in my fridge. Make it happen Taco Surf.
Staff were so friendly and helpful! Both of us are gluten intolerant. They have a GF menu and were knowledgeable! Food was delicious!
There were 6 of us for a family get-together visit in Long Beach. We decided to go out for dinner, and our niece recommended Taco Surf (their Seal Beach location) – and we’re glad she did! Everything we ordered was delicious! I ordered the Carnitas de Puerco, my wife ordered Carne Asada Tacos, and the rest of us ordered a Bean and Rice Burrito and several assorted tacos: Ground Beef, Pork and Chicken, Shredded Beef, and Baja Fish. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed all the food, even commenting on how tasty and “authentic” the refried beans were. It’s a small restaurant, and staff were very friendly and efficient; great service. Prices were very reasonable. Very highly recommended.
We were met with a positive and friendly greeting. By the time we had settled in the seats and taken off our coats, they had already delivered delicious, warm chips and salsa to our table. The variety was abundant, but I chose their trio of tacos and each filling was unique and scrumptious. The service was quick, and the waiter was charming
I've been going here since they opened in 88'. They always have great food and service. Today Niamh was our server. Most awesome! I live in Missouri now and going to eat here is always a welcoming experience. Until next time 🙂✌️
Fire food and great service, they also have a taco Tuesday happy hour. overall good mexican food
Amazing food. The salsa was good(could be spicier but still good) We tried the Seafood bowl which was pretty good. Lots of flavor. We also tried the famous baja fish taco (which was good) and the original Ensenada Shrimp taco(5 stars for that, must try) was so perfect. And the place is not super expensive. Our server was super nice and checked in many times which was nice. 😀😀
Food was good. I ordered a couple things. I personally didnt like the fish taco, the breading was too thick...but my husband liked it so...🤷♀️. Other food was delicious. Update: you must try the strawberry flautas!! They are so delicious!!!!
Delicious food in large portions. The service was quick and friendly, but let us enjoy our meal and conversation. It's definitely a good place to enjoy burritos and or tacos. You won't go wrong.
They serve great food. I got the 2 tacos and they taste fantastic. They also let you take your drink to go. 🌮🌮🌮
Loved that they had pet friendly tables, great service, wonderful salsa with chips and food was great. Had seafood and wet burrito which were awesome!
The staff is always friendly and helpful. If you come by during peak lunch or dinner with a large group you might have to wait for a little while. They have many tables for two. The food is great: tacos, burritos, chimichangas it's all good. Bonus! The chips they give you while you figure out what you want to eat have never been burnt.

Almost always order by phone & take tacos to Eisenhower Park or the jetty to enjoy. Best tacos ever! Also the BEST salsa, I order extra for home
Really good place for a small get together with friends and family. Great seafood for a good price. Not overly expensive but not the cheapest seafood joint... I like the shrimp tacos and the poké bowl(s) pictured
Four of us went in for dinner and there just happened to be a local rock band tuning up when we sat down ten feet from the stage. Great loud Music to enjoy with dinner and met the band. The place is a little bit cramped when they are full but we still had great service. Super fun place!
We stopped in for the Carne Asada and the Hang 10 cocktail and lucked out by arriving during happy hour — affordable and perfect for our food needs. As a light eater, I was thrilled. The cocktails are made with wine instead of hard liquor, which was surprisingly refreshing and ideal for a midday beach outing. This spot is perfect for wine lovers and taco enthusiasts alike. The meat was exceptionally tender, never dry, and the salsa was spot-on. Ingredients were fresh and vibrant, and the portion sizes were satisfying without feeling overwhelming — perfect for lighter appetites. We were even offered more chips after we’d already finished our meal and paid, which was such a thoughtful touch. Franky gave exceptional service! The bathrooms were clean (not just masked with air freshener), and the service felt genuinely attentive. While we came for the Carne Asada, we learned they’re especially known for their fish tacos and that they have a second location serving the same drinks but with hard liquor. A wonderful beachside find — fresh, flavorful, and refreshingly relaxed.
We were in town for New Years and decided to try this restaurant on New Year's Day which was close to our hotel. Staff was friendly and welcoming. The food we ordered was delicious. Shrimp quesadilla for me and cheese enchiladas for my husband. Food specials, drink specials, great service and atmosphere. What's there not to like!!!!
My daughter my husband and I are eating here for the very first time right now and we are having the tostada salads and my husband's having the wet bean and cheese burrito everything is delicious and very very yummy

All the food was really good. I got the Baja Fish Burrito (one of the house specialties) and it was great. The sauce they serve it with gave it a unique flavor profile that's hard to describe but certainly added to the "seafood" flavor. The Chile relleno was pretty good too. Lots of cheese and a nice chile taste. Overall a good meal with a great "beach side" vibe.
Food is good with an extensive menu, but not overwhelming. You can get tacos lettuce-wrapped instead of tortillas which is great for us going low carb. Service is attentive and friendly. Prices are fair. Been here a couple times so far and will return for sure!
Atmosphere & service were good, but the tacos were not authentic like you typically get in So Cal! The salsa also kind of tasted ketchupy to me which was a bummer. Service was good though & I appreciated them accommodating our babies stroller & a high chair.
Great place good food and entertainment.
Delicious! One of the tastiest veggie burritos I have ever had! The salsa is out of this world! Perfect blend of spice & flavor. The guacamole unfortunately was not great. It tasted like it was store boat in a plastic container. I did ask if It was homemade & they said every morning at 6am they prep for the day. It is certainly possible if was a one time accident. I would try it again when I go back (cuz I definitely will be). The burrito; OUT OF THIS WORLD. Nice size. Tasty delicious. & they serve it with this Mexican hot pepper that usually is only found in Mexico. Service was 5 stars! Very attentive & kind! Priced really well too. I will be back.
I ordered the wet chile verde burrito, it was a great portion size and good. Their salsa blew my mind, our whole party couldn’t stop eating it. Also their peach margarita (made with wine) was really good. I knocked off a star because I think the kids menu portions were surprisingly skimpy: the cheeseburger was a slider size meet patty but on a regular sized bun and the taquito was small as well, which would be ok if the kids menu prices were a little less. Overall the service and quality were good though and I do recommend it. Slightly pricey but I guess that’s expected for the location.

Food is always suspect. Had a chicken burrito last nite. Awful. The chicken tasted like it was boiled. No flavor. Just gross. I’ve had their fajitas before and sent them back. The chicken meat was tough and again mostly tasteless. The best food in the house is the chips and salsa. Update : it’s now a couple of years later- just had the chicken tacos - awful again- theres nothing moist and tender about this chicken- just the opposite- dry and zero flavor - even if they added a little salt it would be better- how hard can this be ?! Again, the salsa is fantastic, but that’s about it!
I got a chicken taco, vegetarian, and 1 carne asada taco. They were ok. Fortunately there were some TVs on the football games. I like the older, small, local places, and the staff was friendly. I'm looking for a place to beat out my favorite taco place. Right now my favorite is Alfredo's on PCH in Lomita- for tacos. El Coyote in Los Angeles has to be in of the all time classics.
I been going to this location of Taco Surf for years. On my last visit its seemed just okay Ive definitely had better. But for the location not bad.

I ordered a chicken chimichanga, but got beef. It took awhile, so I ate it anyway. It wasn't very good and it's my first chimichanga that didn't come with guacamole. It wasn't crispy either. Friendly service but got 2 out 4 of our orders wrong.
I usually like Taco Surf. This is what I suggest. Stick to ordering what can't be made ahead of time. Don't order their chili rellenos until they fix this problem. I cant tell you how old that chili relleno was on my plate last night. The thick egg sponge that was inside the paper thin chili was older than a couple of weeks in the freezer. You could tell. Cheese belongs inside the chili and egg belongs outside. The chili itself should have walls thicker than parchment paper. I have encountered this before, old frozen egg that's like an old sponge on my kitchen counter. It's not edible. Please fix this Taco Surf. Don't serve something like this. The beans and rice were great, as was the service. I will go back because I enjoy the atmosphere and your tacos, salsa, chips, and other food. Fix your cheese enchiladas too. I'm not adding a picture because I don't want to embarrass you.

Was there to have lunch. Friend wanted to eat there. I hadn't been there in a couple years as last meal ...a tornado was very ordinary. Again, though friendly and prompt service...the food is on a scale with Taco Bell...but prices are higher. They need to do alot better!!! They are in a prime spot on The main drag and close to the beach and pier....so this owner apparently just doesn't care.
2.5 ⭐️ Original review at bottom: Im re-reviewing this spot because it has drastically gone downhill. Their Happy hour used to be very good - but they’ve raised their prices 3 times in the last 1.5 years. But they also have a happy hour sized portion, that is much smaller than the regular menu. It’s just not worth it anymore. And the quality (wasn’t that high to begin with) has drastically decreased, while costs have risen. Won’t be back. Baja fish tacos are pretty good- definitely taste “fishy” but not necessarily in a bad way. They look small, but are actually quite filling. You get warm chips and fresh salsa as soon as you sit. Happy hour is where it’s at; will be back.
