Opinions de Los Mariscos de Sylmar Sylmar
**review below refers to this restaurant when it had a different name, management, and menu. I have not eaten at this place since it was "The Crunchy Crab" about a year ago. The food was superb! The waitress was excellent! She patiently attended to all of our needs and answered all of our questions. I can't wait to come back. Great place for dates. Very cozy inside.
Great selection of mariscos and excellent mexican sushi. They like having a live band on weekends but the place us too small for all that loudness. Although, the happy hour from 4pm to 6pm makes up for it!
Absolutely the best Mango Ceviche I have ever had. This restaurant is clean, has a great atmosphere, service is phenomenal and food is ridiculously delicious. If you haven't eaten here you've gotta stop by and try the Mango Ceviche, it's to die for. If I could give this restaurant 10 stars I would! Keep up the great work, Los Mariscos Sylmar is the best!
I've been to this place many times. Before Covid-19 and now during Covid-19 and the food has always been on point. I've never eaten inside, but it looks nice and clean. My wife really likes their fish tacos. I usually get a cocktail de camaron and one of their tasty Ceviche tostadas.
Love the food. Music is great wish it would have lasted longer but maybe it was the time I got there. Kind and fast service. Been here a few times and will continue to come. Thank you Los Mariscos.
A great dining experience! Definitely recommend. Great food... great service...great ambiance. If it weren't for the fact that we are from out of the area, would love to come again.
Esmeralda was amazing. As soon as we entered, she made us feel welcome. She asked a few basic questions and then helped guide us through the menu. Great attention to detail. Never felt abandoned as the restaurant began to get busy.
The food and service was great. Just the music was very loud, it left our ears ringing and we couldn’t have a conversation with our friends at all. We asked the sever to tell the grupo to turn it down and they did and then the music was loud again. Will be back though amazing food.
The food and service here is fantastic. They had karaoke as well. The overall environment eating and interacting with the staff was very welcoming. This is my new go to spot when I want some Micheleadas and sushi ! Highly recommend you check it out if you are in the LA area.
First time and won’t be last!!! Food was superb! Prices Reasonable. Clean and fresh w A/C inside. Lots of tv screens on. Live band! You ask for a song, you pay. We will def be back. That’s how musicians make living at the venue! Will hire banda on the side. He has a great voice! I feel like tue community is not aware of the location! The salsa w chips is hot! So so good! I had two bowls! I eat spice and I was on fire.
Been here many times, after coming the first time i realize the food was amazing in good proportions. After seeing the yelp reviews i was rethinking but then after reading a few i realized it was reviews from people desperate and not whiling to wait and minimal patiences. Well long story short i will continue to come they have live banda as well except due to the quarantine they not coming. By the way is nee management i ask a few questions
Food was delicious, fresh and hot at serving. Waitress was A+ . Karaoke on a Wednesday night was a plus as entertainment:)
Service, food and live music is good! The stuffed jalapeños were bomb, the golden roll, and the fish plates are our favorite. Check them out its really good. Our waitress is the best always, very attentive! Ask for Susana when coming here. She's the best. Thank me later!
Great food, drinks and service. Definitely recommend this place. It’s under new management and they are great.
Revising my review due to rebrand and new management. Over all Los Mariscos de Sylmar was good, not bad at all. ~~~~~~~~~~~~2 years ago~~~~~~~~~~ Our waiter was nice, she was very attentive to us. If you want to avoid the wait at Boiling Crab, this place is where you'll be able to grab a bite without the wait.
Great customer service and delicious food. A bit pricey but well worth it. Definitely coming back on a weekend to check out the live music.
AUTHENTIC MARISCOS! Family owned and run/ the owner comes to your table and checks in, which feels so homey. Came here with my bestie and I'm so glad! Hidden gem in Sylmar. You have to try the Pulpo a La Parrila (what they're known for) or La Torre! The pulpo (octopus) is incredible - fresh and delicious. Seems like a great spot for families. They also have live music and Mexican style sushi - trust me when I say these are the best around. They have a new bar! Now selling alcohol and cocktails. I'll be back for my birthday!
Amazing place. Plenty of parking. Great food AND if you like live band this is the place to be!! Highly recommended

I can't find the words to express how delicious the food is here! The service was excellent and the quality of the food was even better. If you're looking to treat you're self to a meal then don't look no further. I highly recommend this place. Pictures are not doing this place justice.
Service sometimes is a little slow. If this place is packed Service is great, but if it is slow then Service dies. when they have bands it's so hard to talk amongst each other you can't even hear. Mariscos itself is good.
I like the banda they have on the weekends. Food is okay. Their margaritas are amazing. They are closed at 930 Not 11.
All the sushi is fried. The rest is great. All the salsa they bring to you is very spicy so just be ready.
Food is good, tasty, so far who has assisted us have been great. They have sushi, campechanas, shrimp dishes, tacos and quesadillas, which for my liking they are so small and overcharged. Just a corn tortilla, a little bit of filling and cheese.
My husband got the carne asada plate. He loved it, I got enchiladas they were good.
My husband got the carne asada plate. He loved it, I got enchiladas they were good.
The food had a fabulous taste however, the service was horrific. I had to personally get up and damn near go in to the kitchen and ask for things three times. The atmosphere was a dull... I really don't recommend coming here😏
The food was good the band they had playing tonight wasnt really playing unless you requested a song the singer was at the bar or at the corner table sitting there. That was unprofessional. So it made the experinace so so. Nothing like the last few times we went
The waitress became upset when I asked her to remove the bucket of beers from the tab as we were not going to drink them and I was ready to go home. Her people etiquette was quite poor. Music was loud but banda is loud food is OK. I prefer to go elsewhere service is everything.
Alright del taco is better tho great service food sucks
Food was way too spicy to enjoy and there seemed to be no other option. there is a charge for not paying cash. service was horrible. we had to ask for condiments, that should've been at the table. sushi,,,California rolls with no soy sauce of any sort. seafood marked with Chiles so that your mouth wont taste the quality of ingredients or lack thereof. I would not recommend.
First time here We went here in September 8 Friday around 3pm place was okay and food is good but the waitresses were unattended and distant. We called one of them but they were talking so they ignored until I made the signal again. So I don’t think we are coming back…pay attention to customers and talk later…service is everything!
I decided to visit Los Mariscos de Sylmar today despite the poor reviews, hoping maybe things had improved—but unfortunately, they haven’t. If anything, the reviews were spot on. The only thing this place has going for it is the beautiful interior. It’s well-decorated and has a nice aesthetic—but that’s where the positives end. The moment we walked in, we were hit with music so loud it felt like we had accidentally stepped into a nightclub, not a restaurant. It was impossible to hear the waitress, who didn’t even ask how many were in our party properly because of the noise. After we were seated, we were handed menus and then completely ignored for 12 minutes. No introduction, no drink order, nothing. When she finally returned to ask for drinks, it felt like an afterthought. A few minutes later, she came back to take our food order—but once again, we were left waiting, this time nearly 30 minutes for food in a restaurant that was basically empty except for one other table. During the wait, we were given chips and salsa. The chips were stale, and the salsa was so aggressively spicy it was hard to enjoy—not because it had good heat, but because it lacked any real flavor behind it. When the food finally arrived, the disappointment just kept piling on. For something that took half an hour to make, the food was shockingly bland and lacked the flavor you expect from a Mexican seafood spot. It looked nice, but the taste was nowhere near where it needed to be. To top it off, our waitress only spoke Spanish and made zero effort to communicate with the rest of the table, even after it was clear most of us were English speakers. She directed all communication to the one Spanish speaker in our group and completely ignored everyone else. It felt rude and unprofessional—especially in a customer service role where effort and inclusivity matter. The only reason this isn’t a one-star review is because of how beautiful the place looks and the fact that the waitress, while not accommodating, was at least polite. But overall, the experience was a letdown. Poor service, terrible food, long wait times, and zero effort to make the customer feel welcomed. I won’t be back—and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.
It’s NO LONGER Los Mariscos. It’s now Maria de mis Amores. The menu has changed no more sushi. I came specifically for the fish tacos. The presentation was great but left disappointed. The fish was overcooked and tasteless. My husband ordered sabor jalisciense which he did enjoy.
the food and the service is fine, but I'm sorry for what I'm about to put, but I went to this place for the first time (Friday) because according to the good atmosphere and let me it was 8pm and inside there was no music no nothing zero. the band was only playing. IF u pay, a good time and don't go on Friday

The food was super bland. Everything needed salt. The music was soooooo loud, we literally couldn't hear each other sitting right next to each other, let alone across the table. We ordered a Molcajete, which is supposed to come with rice/beans on the side, usually for 2, we didn't even get the 1, I had to get up and go request the rice/beans. It's not the best place, and I wouldn't recommend it. It was clean, though, so that's important. Need better cooks, better servers, and fewer speakers.

On a Friday night our family wanted to go out to dinner to a restaurants we had gone before. When we arrived a gentleman approached my car and said valet only. I was confused, I never had this experience coming to this restaurant before. It wasn't even a fancy restaurant. Reluctantly, I gave them my keys. Once we sat down we realized it was a different restaurant but decided to give it a try. The menu was very limited. I was questioning the sushi price, the imitation crab sushi was so expensive. Our dinners took some time to be served. I was the first one to receive my my dinner and had to wait about 10 minutes for my husband to get his plate, then we had to wait another 5 minutes for my daughter to receive her plate, and then we had to wait some time until my son got his plate. We tried to make the best of it by trying to have a conversation but we weren't able to after a short while because of the live music. When we arrived we saw the band setting up inside the restaurant, so we decided to sit outside in the patio. After a short time the band members decided to open the doors to the patio so the singer could come out to sing to a couple in the corner. Keep in mind the singer was reading the lyrics off his phone the whole entire time. The music was so loud that you couldn't even enjoy the music. So my family was sitting there, staring at each other, not able to have a conversation, waiting for our food. Finally when we all had our food, we tried to eat but at that point I just wanted to go home pop my dinner in the microwave and enjoy a family dinner at home. We didn't even have napkins. The salsa they gave us tasted more like watered-down tomato sauce. My kids look so miserable, my husband was annoyed, and I was hungry and annoyed. Worst experience in a restaurant. We will not be returning.
We had an awful experience after eating here my mother and I got sick from our stomachs. My elderly sickly mother hadn't eaten all day because she had to go to emergency care and get blood work which required fasting. I took her to this restaurant thinking warm seafood would be a healthy nutritious option for her after we sat in emergency waiting area for 7 hours, in and out for analyses for my mom, without food in our stomachs. On top of that the food was super expensive. Regretting it so hard right now.
The service was horrible. Did not even get to try foods or drinks because of their lack of services. People that were sat before our party had their drinks and enjoying chips and salsa. While we sat down for more than 20 minutes unattended no one, not even manager noticed until I called for her as we left restaurant to let her know of the lack of service. I was excited for this place after all reviews seen I came from Los Angeles to try it but extremely disappointed.
oysters were not good, they didn’t taste like they’ve been cleaned out, couldn’t even eat 1 really disappointed especially for the price of it. camarones a la diabla were okay as well as the chilaquiles de camarón.
Restaurant don't look that busy. It's valentines Day but we have been waiting here for about 30 minutes a lot of empty tables. However, the waitresses are slow in sitting people. Live music is ok. however, the volume is too loud. I just need to bring it down almost half.how ever this review is almost done and we are still waiting and let me let you guys know it took me a while to do this post
Unacceptable service! I came with my girlfriend's family for Mother's Day, and while the waitress took orders, I said she could take the mother's orders first. After taking their orders, she never came back to me, though we mentioned it to another passing waitress. Perhaps she didn't hear me well, because the music is painfully loud (bring ear plugs if you make the mistake of eating here), but it isn't my fault if they blast the speakers too loud to hear their customers. Karaoke night should be fun, not deafening. Why should I order from a restaurant that blatantly excludes me? Is it possibly because I was the only one present who didn't speak Spanish? Perhaps they only welcome certain customers, and discriminate against anyone else. That might explain why the menus are only in Spanish. I will never return or give them a cent of my money. Avoid at all costs!
I ordered the Botana Guisada ($24.99). It came with shrimp, octopus and abalone, accompanied by rice and beans. The braised seafood was not terrible. It was decently seasoned but the texture and consistency appeared to be frozen seafood. The rice was overcooked and lacked seasoning. My husband had the Camarones Al Ajo ($18.99) -Garlic Shrimp-, which were small, overcooked, and underseasoned. His rice was overcooked as well. The fried were the only redeeming quality of this meal. He also ordered a shrimp quesadilla ($5.95), which was fine, except that it was rather small. When we first arrived there was no one there to greet us, so we just awkwardly stood by hoping to get someone's attention. Once we were seated the service was actually relatively quick, that is until it came time for the check. It was so difficult to get the servers attention, but I honesty can't fault them for this one, they did appear to be understaffed. The atmosphere was odd. They had a live band, which I would normally enjoy except that it was too loud for this type of venue. It was impossible to have a conversation. Overall, definitely don't recommend. Note: I would have rated this place a little higher except that my husband and I both ended up with terrible stomach aches afterwards. Nothing redeems that.
Live Band(Mexican music)They were the only Good thing there. 2 Campechanas watered down, only 1 serving of ketchup and 4 pcs lemon not enough for 2 . Empanadas ok. Camarones a la diabla watered down, not spicy with mini jar shrimp, who uses mini shrimps on these dishes . Oysters were old some were bad. We left the food but did not leave a tip. We waited so long for service and condiments to atleast try and add flavor but they wouldnt come $133. Down the drain. If you're a true mariscuero don't go here.

The only thing I have good to say is that the michelada was decent. Food came out cold and was not good. 5 of us disliked our food, and everyone got a different dish. Service was bad even though it wasn't packed and It was really hot in the restaurant. I would not recommend this mariscos spot.
Today I came to this restaurant because we were looking for a sea food place to celebrate my Aunts birthday …. I ordered chilaquiles, steak and eggs the waitress had the nerve to tell me I got a small slice of steak because they were out, eggs were so over cooked everything was old . I also ordered (3) 7 mares for my mother and Aunt (1) Aunt (2) the soup where also cold that only let us know it wasn’t fresh just wormed up and tasteless Bottom line service sucks as well as the food. I’ve never been to a restaurant where they don’t have Splenda and just throw your utensils on the side of your table, also were to busy making a video, even more of a reason to never come back!! Do not ignore your Customer service, because as a business owner we live by customer service! 👍🏼
