Opinions de Dosa Grill Syracuse
Dosa grill is located off the beaten path but it is worth the detour. Food is always amazing and service is quick. Reasonably priced.
One of my favorite Indian Restaurants. I have been coming here for years and the food is always delicious
The food is amazing the lamb chops were big and so flavorful and tender. The lamb curry was also delicious I got it mild and it was just that I applauded the service we had when we got there. They offer water while we waited for our food. I have ate here on multiple occasions finally decided to leave a review. I definitely recommend trying this place!!!!
Our go-to place whenever we're in Syracuse! Their dosas are fresh, crispy, paper-thin and flavorful, served with amazing sambar. Service is also always fast and friendly. Would definitely recommend for a great value dinner.
I’ve been a regular at Dosa Grill in the Syracuse, NY area since they opened, and they’ve never disappointed. Whether I’m grabbing takeout or dining in, the food is always fresh, flavorful, and consistently high-quality. I’ve even brought friends here to introduce them to Indian cuisine, and now they’re hooked too! The staff is welcoming, the service is reliable, and the menu has a great variety of dishes for every taste. Dosa Grill has become one of my go-to spots for a delicious meal, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for authentic Indian food in Syracuse!
Excellent service. Amazing food. I loved everything about our visit. Authentic Indian food at its finest. The tandoori chicken, lamb saag, and mango chicken were delicious. Our vegetable samosas and other appetizers came out in no time and cooked to perfection. The mango dessert we were provided was the final touch to an absolutely spectacular evening for us. The staff were friendly and eager to help us in any way from questions about the menu to ordering, and providing what seemed to be never ending glasses of water. Highly recommend. Trying the Buffett for lunch next.
Wife and I have been eating here for over 5 years. Always excellent food and service. We consider Dosa Grill our first choice for eating in Syracuse!
I was there for late dinner for the first time last night. I was greeted by a friendly host, Rahul, who right away made sure I felt welcomed and comfortable. I was happy to see my favorite goat and lamb dishes on the menu. The food came surprisingly fast. The goat was well prepared and the spice level was just perfect for my liking. They did not ask ahead of time how to prepare, so I was worried the food could be too spicy, but the chef nailed it. Rahul checked to make sure everything was made to my satisfaction. Everyone was kind and polite and offered excellent level of service. Their mango lasi is a must have! I will definitely be coming back the next time I’m in the area or when traveling to Syracuse.
The most amazing Indian restaurant I have ever been on. Friendly staff. Delicious dishes. Wonderful music. Super vibrant ambience. What else to ask for . Must visit place .
Dosa Grill never disappoints! The flavors are incredible, the portions are generous, and the service is always so friendly - especially from Raul. Easily one of the best spots in Syracuse for delicious Indian food.
Delicious authentic Indian food, very pleasant and helpful staff. Great place to take the family! It's one of our staple spots
Stopped by here on my way to Toronto from NYC. There was a a buffet going on and joined in. The food was really good, tasty and perfectly cooked. The A LA Carte menu is a bit minimal unfortunately. So buffet was the option for me. Tried their Dum Chicken biryani, Naan breads, tandoori chicken, spinach curry and chicken curry with Gulab Jamun. Absolutely no regrets with the food. Service has a bit more room to improve. I'll stop by next time if I'm on this way.
We have been going here for years and the food is always consistent and delicious. The service is attentive and they make great recommendations. It looks like they have updated their space too.
Really tasty for the whole family. This was our third time and we can’t stay away. Loved the dosa and the tomato chutney. What a delicious combo. Mango lassi is always a treat. Lamb saag was very flavorful and soft meat.
We ordered take out for the superbowl - everything was delicious! The samosas are the best ever, and the green paneer cant be beat. A ton of food for the price.
Dosa Grill truly never disappoints for dine-in or take-out experiences! The lunch buffet is incredible but the restaurant is equally worthwhile as a dinner destination. Of course the eponymous Dosas are delicious and worth every penny, but many other dishes on the menu are worth writing home about. Our most recent discovery is the Shrimp Nargisi, which is flavored with fresh curry leaves and is absolutely delicious.
I had a very great time. The food was delicious and it made my heart happy. If you’re debating whether or not you should come here I think you should immediately get in the car and drive. Ritesh is a very good waiter you should request his service upon his arrival.
Absolutely incredible food! I come to Syracuse a few times a year for work and Dosa Grill is a must stop every time. Whether you come for the buffet, or order a dish, the service is great, the food is incredible, and the prices are excellent as well. Highly recommend. (Try the Goan Fish Curry, get it spicy! And start off with some samosas!)
Tried the goat biryani and it did not disappoint. The meat was tender and flavorful, falling right off the bone, and the rice was perfectly spiced fragrant, fluffy, and soaked in all that biryani goodness. You could tell it was slow-cooked with care. The blend of spices hit just right not too overpowering, but bold enough to make every bite count. Paired with raita on the side, it was a full-on comfort meal.
my partner and i came to syracuse on a business trip and were recommend this place for good indian food. let’s just say… good is an understatement. the food here is amazing! the staff is super friendly and welcoming. we drove for 2 hours from buffalo and would happily do it again just for another plate.
Wonderful experience at Dosa Grill! The service was phenomenal, and people went out of their way to give complementary food and dessert. The food was incredible. I highly recommend the chicken tikka masala.
Seriously great. I love the malai kofta and the chana masala. The naan stuffed with coconut is delicious! The butter chicken is great too. I have never ordered something that I didn't like, and I've been many times. Plus the owner (who also owns Minar in New Hartford, which also has great food!) is always super nice.
It was my first time eating at Dosa Grill and had a wonderful evening! The hospitality and food was very warm and wonderful on a blustery winter evening in Syracuse! I had the Chicken Korma and Coconut Naan - it was delicious! Highly recommend!
we had an amazing dinner at dosa grill and the rahul give to us fantastic service, warm and welcoming. the food was impeccable, delicious and gorgeously presented. the music was fun and playful and tge atmosphere was convivial and inviting, We will certainly be back to celebrate with them again.🔥
I was flying back to Los Angeles and Mom and I wanted to stop for food prior to my flight so we stopped at dosa Grill. I’ve been here a few times before, but it was a lonnggggg time ago! And it was moms first time trying Indian food!!! The buffet is stacked with SO MANY OPTIONS !! And variety of foods but mom and I decided to order from the regular menu. We ordered: Butter Dosa - Bhindi Masala (okra) Chicken Makhani (comes with rice) Everything was phenomenal and freshhhh! The portions are HUGE and could literally feed a family of 4!! We had so many leftovers. What really stands out at this place is not only the food but the friendly service. Everyone was so nice and you can tell they put a lot of love in to their food!! The owner gave mom a run down on what region each dish came from and certain ingredients they use! Def check it out!
Our experiences with Indian cuisine are very limited, that being said Dosa Grill was absolutely outstanding. I highly recommend this restaurant to those that like Indian cuisine and to those that haven’t had it before. We had the lunch buffet which allowed us to try many different dishes. Of the 8-10 selections there wasn’t one I wouldn’t have again. Very reasonably priced especially considering it was all you can eat. Great place for lunch and we’ll have to try it again for dinner sometime soon.
We are frequent diners at Dosa and thoroughly enjoy the lunchtime buffets— a great selection of options for non-veg and veg diners. It seems the food gets better with each year. We’ve traveled many times to India and the meals at Dosa bring back great memories of regional cuisines.
"Dosa Grill is an absolute gem for authentic Indian cuisine! The Indian meals buffet offers an incredible variety of delicious dishes that cater to all tastes. A special shout-out to Rahul for his exceptional hospitality and attentive service—he truly made our dining experience memorable. Thank you, Dosa Grill, for bringing the flavors of India to life with such warmth and quality!"
Absolutely loved our experience at Dosa Grill! The buffet was delicious with a wide variety of flavorful dishes that kept us going back for more. The fresh dosa was especially mouthwatering — crisp, perfectly made, and served hot! The service was awesome — attentive and welcoming — and the owner was incredibly friendly, making us feel right at home. The ambiance was warm and inviting, perfect for a relaxed and satisfying meal. Highly recommend this spot for anyone craving authentic Indian cuisine!
My husband and I dined here for the first time tonight! We split the onion dosa which huge (see photo) and absolutely delicious! He got the chicken biryani and I had the Chicken Mango. Both were so good and everything was very fresh. We will definitely be back again and are looking forward to also trying the buffet one night! All of the staff were very friendly as well!
AMAZING AND 100 ✨🌟✨ I had a stressful appointment this afternoon, but realized quickly thanks to google maps, I was 3 miles away from an Indian restaurant and soon to meet Rahul! Dosa is simply fantastic! Not only the food is wonderful the staff is equally fantastic! I have found a language set back at many restaurants, but from the heavens came RAHUL who explained why everything is so Glorious! He was polite, funny knowledgeable and helpful! 2 other men that brought food were also friendly and sUPER nice! The Naan, veggie pakora and the AMAZING variety of what I am sure are award winning chutneys! Wow… tamarind, mango, mint, and the coconut (I never knew there was a COCONUT chutney) just wonderful! I had the best ever shrimp Nargisi too! Thank You Dosa Grill for brightening a gloomy day. Thank You Rahul! I appreciate you 🙏🏻 CLEAN, Polite, and easy for them to understand what we are trying to ask for! I have been obsessed with Indian food for the past 4 years and have now found my favorite restaurant 🥰 (the mango chutney was AMAZING and I bought xtra for home)
Lovely and cozy place for some nice authentic Indian food. For south indian food, try Chettinad curry with a medium/high spice level to go either with rice or naan. Ask for Freddie!! He is an amazing host with lots of energy and good customer service. We asked for a cake from the menu and unfortunately they did not have the cake that day but Freddie was quick to suggest a cake from near by Wegmans store. He ensured we were not disappointed and we're able to celebrate our occasion without any hitch. I rate highly of this place for the customer service and the ambience..
I had an amazing time here. It was my first time. A friend brought me and I had the lamb tiki masala and it was perfect! So soft and delicious! I also drank mango lassi for the first time and I’m in love! Thank you so much and I highly recommend this place!!! The service also was incredible and very attentive!!!
Always delicious food and the staff are very friendly. Their lunch buffet has a great variety of dishes to try and find new favorites. Easily my favorite Indian restaurant in Syracuse and I’ve tried many!
Some places are never bad, this place is never NOT AMAZING. Not sure if some of the other local Indian spots have pressured Dosa to step up their game but this place always reigns supreme. The last 5 times I’ve been I have thought, wow, this is the best it’s been. And then the next time is even better. Shahi Paneer on the buffet almost doesn’t feel fair. If it’s not on the buffet when you go for lunch, you GOTTA order the Shahi Paneer on the side. Believe me when I say I think it’s the best I’ve ever had across the U.S. So happy to have world class Indian in Syracuse. I don’t think we realize how lucky we are.
One of the best Indian restaurants I’ve been to in town. Polished off my strawberry lassi in minutes. Tons of scrumptious vegetarian options, especially loved the paneer masala. The staff were all super attentive as well, definitely recommend.
I stopped into Dosa Grill just after 5PM on a Monday to try out their dinner buffet for the first time. I am so glad that I did because everything was delicious and cooked to perfection. The cucumber chickpea salad was crunchy, and flavorful with a nice light dressing. the assortment of vegetable pakora was crispy, pungent, and delicious. The buffet main course offerings that I chose consisted of Chicken Tikka Masala, Goat Curry Vindaloo, Chicken Kerala, and Chicken Biryani with an assorted naan bread. My personal favorite entree was the Goat Curry Vindaloo. The deep depth of flavor and layer of spices in the curry was tantalizingly delightful, especially when soaked up by the naan bread. The Chicken Kerala is an amazing take on fried chicken with the addition of tumeric, chile, and cilantro. The chicken was extremely crispy while maintaining a juicy interior. The Biryani was good. I realized once I returned to my seat that I only grabbed rice. The Chicken Tikka Masala was a bit of a let down due to its sweet tomato taste, however this does not affect the rating of the establishment. Everyone’s spice level is different and I completely understand having something palatable for everyone at a buffet. I happen to love very spicy dishes so this was a bit of a shock. As always, the naan bread was crispy on the outside and pillowy soft on the inside and the basmati rice was aromatic and heavenly. The complimentary appetizer/palate cleanser was such a thoughtful addition to the meal. And how could I forget the incredible lassi that balanced the heat of the curry with the cool sweetness of the mango. Perhaps the best part about Dosa Grill was the attentive and extremely friendly waitstaff. It was an absolute pleasure to be served by each member of their team with a smile and a warm conversation. Thank you so much Dosa Grill. This was my first time dining in with you all and I am excited to return many more times.
Wonderful place to eat! Insane portion sizes and delicious food. Atmosphere is super friendly and the waitstaff is very attentive. Offers a wide variety of North and South Indian dishes. Will definitely be a repeat customer.
Easily my favorite Indian Restaurant. Raul always treats his customers right and with the upmost respect. I recommend trying the vindaloo with a nice Taj Mahal beer. This place never misses! The buffet is always great too
We recently went to Dosa Grill and tried their buffet. Our dining experience was enhanced by the buffet's extensive selection of flavorful dishes. The staff's professionalism, courtesy, and care ensured a pleasant atmosphere. We highly recommend this restaurant for its outstanding cuisine and service. Definitely going back again!!
Dosa Grill is the best Indian food I have ever had and I’ve even had Indian cuisine in London! But this by far exceeds all other Indians restaurants I’ve been to. I especially appreciate their service and attention to detail. Rahul in particular is always fantastic - making sure we have what we need and always offering to give us the freshest food! I would recommend Dosa Grill to everyone (even those who aren’t keen on spice!)
2nd time here. The buffet is SOOOO good! The chicken Tika Masala is THE BEST in Syracuse! I’ve had 3 other local Indian spots and this place WINS. The waiters are attentive and fill your water glass frequently
We were going to be in the area, and we read the good reviews with this resturaunt so we decided to give it a go. Well worth the trip. Amazing flavors served hot in very generous portions. Very friendly staff, and very generous glasses of Red Wine. I am now stretched out on my recliner in a partial food coma, with no regrets... I would do it again. Great Food! We had: Appetizers: Veg Spring Rolls and Dry Machurian Dinner: Chicken Mango and Chicken Curry Desert: Mango Ice Cream
Absolutely had a blast at this restaurant! All the staff were extremely kind, charming, and accommodating. They gave amazing recommendations and personally I’ll always be coming back for more! The prices are reasonable and the portion size is elite. In all, I loved my experience here!
Don't get in often, but, my son and I absolutely love the Monday nite buffet. The food is hot and it is fresh. We particularly love the chicken marmalade and tandoori chicken. The rice pudding is very addicting. The naan is hot and always refreshed. Lassi is cold and refreshing. Service is fantastic, servers check on us regularly and keep water replenished. The owner is very attentive and ensures satisfaction of customers.
This restaurant is amazing when it comes to food. They have a really nice selection of dishes from both North and south India and all the bbq selection is phenomenal. The staff - Rahul is awesome as he has been there for so many years and is the face of this location in Dewitt. He is very kind and the service is excellent. He goes above to treat all is customers. Ritesh is an excellent server and recommended some great new dishes today away from the transitional one we order. I have a great experience everytime I go in to dine or take out.
The dosa was perfectly crispy and delicious, with a variety of fillings to choose from. I had the masala dosa, and it was packed with flavor, with perfectly spiced potatoes inside. The chutneys and sambar that accompanied it were excellent and complemented the dish beautifully. The ambiance was cozy, and the service was prompt and friendly. It’s definitely a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Indian cuisine. I’ll definitely be coming back!
Fantastic service in restaurant, I’ve had many a good, friendly talk with the gentleman at the front. Staff is respectful and very friendly everytime. Dosa Grill offers incredible food with great, authentic taste for a great price. I love the option to choose your spice level. Everything has an amazing flavor profile no matter what you order. We’ve never had any issues with the quality. It’s always a pleasure eating here!
I’m ALWAYS impressed with my meals here, whether I dine in or order off of DoorDash. After a particularly long morning, I needed a relaxing, low stress meal. I asked to try something new yesterday and even though I have absolutely no idea what I ate, it was wonderful. I informed the staff that I was allergic to dairy and gluten and they said he was going to give me something different than what I normally order. Whatever I got was absolutely delicious. The staff even brought me a few items to sample off of the buffet that were allergy free so I could try something new. That meant so much to me. A million out of ten experience.
Went to the dosa grill on a blistering winter night and the food was impeccable as was the hospitality. We ordered the chicken tikka masala, garlic naan, chicken korma and coconut sweet bread and everything was fantastic! Our server was incredibly attentive and was happy to answer any questions we had. Can’t recommend enough!
I’ve been going to Dosa Grill for about 15 years, and it has been consistently outstanding for both the buffet and regular dinner service. Every visit has been a great experience. The food is always fresh, flavorful, and prepared with care. I especially love their chicken tikka masala, vegetable korma, and so many of the other dishes they offer—it’s hard to go wrong with anything on the menu. Over the years, it’s been great to see how they’ve continued to improve and evolve, from expanding the buffet options to adding new furniture and decorations that make the space even more welcoming. The owner and staff are always attentive, friendly, and very respectful, which truly sets this place apart. Dosa Grill has been a favorite of mine for years, and I can’t recommend it highly enough.
Love the food and service. Been coming here for years and never get sick of it. The buffet always offer a great mix of classic staples like Chicken Tikka Masala to some occasional features like Chicken 555. Staff is always attentive and friendly.
Dosa Grill is a gem for family dining, serving authentic Indian flavors that transport you back home. The ambiance is warm and welcoming, making you forget you're in New York. The staff is exceptionally friendly and courteous, prices are reasonable, and the quality is outstanding. I highly recommend it to anyone craving delicious Indian food! We had a fantastic buffet lunch experience ☺️
I always come here for the best authentic Indian food experience that they serve at Dosa Grill. The staff is super friendly and courteous. This is a must try place if you are in Syracuse, NY. The large portions have great prices. The staff and the owner are very generous when you fill the box for take out from their buffet. They let you fill the boxes to the top without any extra charge. I love this place, and have brought so many friends, guests and colleagues here. Dosa Grill serves the most delicious Indian food in Syracuse, NY.
Had a great experience at Dosa Grill in Syracuse! Rahul and his team were super welcoming and made sure we had a great dining experience. The food was fresh, flavorful, and authentic South Indian. The dosas were perfectly crisp and came with a variety of chutneys and sambar that had just the right balance of spice and flavor. We also tried their biryani and a couple of curries—everything tasted homemade and not overly oily like some other places. Rahul even stopped by our table to check if we were enjoying the food, which was a nice personal touch. The atmosphere was casual and clean, perfect for a relaxed meal with family or friends. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for solid South Indian food in the Syracuse area. Thanks again to Rahul and the team—we’ll be back for sure!
Food and service both was really great. I had lunch buffet, masala tea and masala dosa ordered and it was top notch and really tasty. While I was waiting for my order Rahul offered me a small masala dosa and also mixed veg biryani as a complimentary which was really sweet of him. He made me feel really welcomed and comfortable. You get everything in very reasonable price for such delicious food. A must visit place to have an Indian food.
We celebrated my mom's citizenship with a big family gathering of 20 people, and this Indian buffet made the occasion unforgettable. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, ensuring everyone felt comfortable. The food was delicious, with a great variety that pleased all of us. My brother is a regular here, and after our experience, we can see why. We'll definitely be back! Highly recommend for anyone looking for amazing food and great service.
The Dosa Grill’s Wednesday(Monday night too) night buffet is amazing! The spread is huge, with fresh and flavorful Indian dishes. Everything is cooked to perfection. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the staff is kind and attentive. The restaurant is impeccably clean and comfortable. And to top it off, two of us ate for under $40…tip included. Highly recommend!
The food was so good and the staff was so friendly. I usually do takeout here but I went in person and had such a great experience. Their Tikka Masala is unreal. Highly recommend!

So delicious! The staff are attentive, kind, and quick. The food (shahi paneer, chicken korma, chicken curry, garlic naan) were some of the best we've had. The food isn't cheap, but it was worth it.

We went for the lunch buffet (until 3 pm). Excellent and delicious food. A good variety of chicken and vegetarian options. Vegetable pakora, chicken curry, coconut chicken, naan, spinach paneer and more. The mango pudding was a treat toy taste buds. I didn’t try the salads. The lemonade was ok (more like lemony water) and chai was too milky and diluted, unfortunately not authentic tasting. The prices are very reasonable (2024 ~13 for lunch buffet and ~16 dinner buffet) for fresh, generous and authentic Indian food. Good service.
First of all, I had heard many compliments about the food at this place from my friends, and it was my first time dining here. I had the dinner buffet, and all I can say is that I’ve never had such delicious food in such large quantities before in the USA, especially for such a great price. The food was excellent, and the masala dosas prepared by Chef Michael were even better. I literally had three plates of dosas during my visit, in addition to the other food I tried. I also found all the staff to be very friendly. Now I understand why the restaurant has such a unique name. Thanks to everyone working there for making our first experience so enjoyable.
I don’t read or write reviews really, but our waiter Rahul asked us to write one, and I said I would. His service was great. Chana Masala was delicious. The platter of assorted appetizers was all fried items. I would have liked something with less oil, something fresher or lighter. They were ok, but again, the Chana masala was good. Dining out is expensive nowadays.
I have been here before and didn't have the greatest experience but I hear so many great things I gave it another try. I didn't realize I was coming right near closing time but they graciously sat me…
Has got a lot better recently...very good lunchtime buffet...only $17...excellent value

I was very disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. The food was honestly terrible — the dishes were mixed in a way that made them look old and unappetizing. The taste was bad, the texture was strange, and nothing felt fresh at all. I came expecting good Indian food, but what I received was one of the worst meals I’ve ever had. Definitely not coming back, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for quality food.
A very peculiar and disappointing experience. Me and a friend met here for dinner, as soon as we walked in the staff just stared at us as if we should not have been there, no hellos or how are you or anything. After a few minutes someone came over to seat us. We were coldly seated and given some sort of thin crisp thing with three different sauces, kind of reminded me of chips and salsa at a Mexican restaurant. The crisp thing, unfortunately I do not know what this is called, had pretty much no flavor so it was the sauces that carried that. They were typical sauces you get at an Indian restaurant, I was a bit confused because I never had been served like this at an Indian restaurant but that's fine, something new. We were looking at their appetizers and noticed that they had spring rolls on their menu, we were very intrigued since we have never seen this at an Indian restaurant so we decided to try them. Well that was our first mistake. They tasted like frozen spring rolls You buy from any grocery store, and not the good ones. I have no idea what the sauce was they served it with but it tasted like apple pie filling. Literally. Very odd. For my entree I went to my usual favorite, chicken tikka masala which was horrible. It was just chicken and sauce, no peppers and hardly any flavor. It literally tastes like they went to the grocery store and bought a jar of tikka masala sauce, threw it on top and called it a day. It was the worst chicken tikka masala I have ever had at a restaurant, And honestly it feels like they didn't even try. We also ordered garlic naan which was actually pretty good! It was the best thing we had there the entire night! So overall the food was pretty bad, but amazingly the service was even worse. The entire visit was very awkward and there was a very negative energy looming in the place. It was an all male staff, which I am completely fine with, but they definitely had The vibes of women are second-class citizens. There was zero hospitality, and everyone we interacted with was borderline rude. When we went to pay I asked if cash was okay, the man rolled his eyes and threw his credit card reader on the table and said yeah, walked away and never returned. We ended up leaving The money on the table since we had no idea what to do. When we went to leave we stood up, I was in the path of a server who was several feet away from me but caught up to me quickly. Seeing that I was getting ready to leave and making sure I did not leave anything in the booth I took a minute. He stopped and stared at me with an annoyed glare, huffed and puffed and then walked past me. There was plenty of room for him to walk around me but it was as if he wanted to make it a point that I should have moved out of his way when I saw him walking in the direction where I was.. The whole experience was extremely uncomfortable and disappointing. I honestly felt as a woman I went back about 60 years. I highly recommend to not go to this place, especially if you are a woman. Sahota Palace is about 15 minutes from this place, I would highly suggest going there instead.
My experience at Dosa Grill, a restaurant specializing in South Indian cuisine, was disappointing due to the limited variety of dishes for buffet. The decision to charge for my 4-year-old child, based on their appearance, was surprising, especially given that Indian Royal Grill, under the same ownership, doesn't charge for children of that age. Could you provide guidance on the age criteria for children's pricing? The food quality and dessert selection fell short of expectations, and the absence of fish options was notable. These are areas that require attention..
