Sage has literally the best food of its kind in Tallahassee. The service was fantastic and the food was inventive and delicious. My only complaint is that the restaurant was a little dark for my taste. I appreciated the atmosphere but it was dark enough that I had trouble reading the menu. 10% brighter and I would give the atmosphere 5 stars too.

We visited for an early Thanksgiving celebration. The food was incredible. The best meal we've had in years! We started with roasted brussell sprouts and escargo. Plenty to share and delicious! For our mains we had the trout (their specialty) and the BBQ pork chop. Both were amazing! 👏 Since the mac 'n cheese had good reviews we had a side of it. The mac 'n cheese is very tasty, but is very large. Even with a party of 3 we had to box it up. The desserts menu is very tempting, so we ended up sharing the caramel and apple cheesecake. Wow! So good! If you haven't been here, you need to! We don't live in Tally, but we will definitely be back!! Thank you for making it a special night for us, Sage! We'll done!

Wow the presentation is beautiful and full attention to detail. The flavor and texture is amazing. Pork chops macaroni and cheee, salmon chicken can’t go wrong. Right down to the bread. One of my top Tallahasee restaurants. A hidden gem !!! Chefs recipes are original, surprises your tongue with delights.

My husband surprised me and our daughter with dinner at Sage. He drove past and was curious so we stopped. It was on my list of places I wanted to try in a date night. We all were very underdressed to say the least. We arrived and they normally serve based on reservations and we did not have one. The host was so friendly and accommodating and sat us right away. The ambience was so nice and the server was also friendly and helpful in helping us make our selections. We had the deviled eggs appetizer and I had the pork chop and my husband the lamb chop and were exploding with flavor. Can’t wait to return for a date night!

It all started with arriving to our reserved table with luke-warm tap water, in glasses, already at the table. They could have been poured two minutes before we got there or two hours based upon how long it took us to any attention from the waitstaff. We all shared an array of appetizers and they food was just : so-so. One of the issues we had was the once crispy tempura fried oysters were plopped into spicy mayonnaise which completely “sogged-out” any crispiness. Next, the Brussels sprouts were scorched and swimming in oil. Third and final example is that the chocolate chip cookie came out burned on the bottom. Maybe it was a bad night for the restaurant but it was our only experience with it since we moved away 14 years ago.

Great service and food. Had to go in pretty late but the service was still good despite being the last to leave.

I’m so in love this amazing top-tier restaurant that I was referred by from Ginna and Justin, I hope I spelled his name correctly, but he was A server. He was absolutely the best I love the way it came to check on us and give us the best comfort 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰❤️

Sage is my go to Brunch spot in Tallahassee. I am there almost every Sunday that’s just how good this place is... I have been going for the past two years and it has only gotten better and better. The food is fantastic and the service is out of this world! Mackenzie, Alex, and Lizzie are all extremely kind and excellent servers! Sage always has something for everyone on their menu and it changes every few months. They have daily soup, quiche, and featured entree. Their desserts are also always a great way to finish off the meal!

WOW!! Our first visit to Sage was amazing. We made a day trip to Tallahassee and stopped in for dinner and so glad we did. We sat at the bar (we prefer the bar) and had a great experience. We had the deviled eggs - OMG - , the Caesar salad and the scallops / shrimp. These all were amazing. The drinks were great, they have a infused Gin that you should def try. Matt at the bar was super helpful and timed the food perfectly. All of the service was excellent. Definitely a place to visit while in town. GREAT JOB!!!

Best Restaurant in Tallahassee. Sage is nothing short of a culinary gem! From the moment you step inside, you're greeted with a warm, inviting atmosphere that perfectly balances sophistication and comfort. The staff is attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about making your dining experience unforgettable. The menu is a masterful showcase of creativity and flavor, with every dish crafted from scratch using the freshest local ingredients. Standouts openers like the French Onion Soup, Chilled Seafood appetizers, to the perfectly cooked Trout Amandine and the decadent dessert options are pure bliss on the palate—bursting with taste and presented with artistry. The wine selection is stellar, offering the ideal pairing for any meal. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or just craving an exceptional night out, Sage delivers every time. It’s no wonder this place consistently earns its reputation as one of Tallahassee’s finest dining spots—absolutely phenomenal!

We arrived at 7 on a Saturday night. We were promptly greeted by Dustin. He brought us bread and some waters. A few minutes later we ordered our wine and our favorite appetizer. The Fried Oysters. They are absolutely delicious. My wife doesn’t like oysters normally. When we order these, I have to fight her off. Lord please don’t let there be an odd number of oysters. It is a given she will get the extra one. This is a fantastic appetizer. We said we were going to try something different tonight. Right…. We both ordered med rare filets. When they were ready, Dustin showed up with more bread. Great timing. The filets were cooked to perfection. It was tender and flavorful. Everything you could ask for. We always say we are having dessert. We always get too full. The portions are good size for such a wonderful meal. We didn’t have dessert. We planned to take some of the filet home. By the time we were done with our wine, there was nothing left to take home. We will definitely be back again. Thanks Sage!!

Sage is my latest local restaurant obsession. I love sitting at the bar and I love appetizers and Sage has both on point. The bar area is small but I don’t mind that. I am working my way through the menu and haven’t had anything bad yet. It is a little pricey but worth the price. Drinks are also excellent. Highly recommend.

We went with a large birthday party for brunch and had a few tasty cocktails while waiting for everyone to arrive. We ordered deviled eggs, crab cake, and gumbo for a starter course and really enjoyed it. For the brunch entree, we ordered the ropa vieja with sweet potato hash and poached eggs and the pumpkin french toast. Both were soooo gooood! Even with a very large party, service was prompt and cordial. We will be back soon to try dinner out!

Make sure you have a reservation, we were lucky enough to get in early and there was seating available in the "bistro seating" aka bar area. Woody (the bar tender) was great. It started to get busy after we sat down so things took a bit. But patience is a virtue, especially waiting for food like this! Everything, including the drinks, was amazing!!!

I had such a pleasant experience here and would totally come back. A friend and I came to Sage for lunch this week since I had never been and it's one of his favorite places in town. I had heard so many good things about Sage so I was really excited to eat there! The menu at Sage changes every day, so you can try a lot of different items if you go frequently. I love rotating menus because they always keep you guessing and it's a very fresh concept. My friend and I started with the sweet potato bisque. This soup was delicious! I guess the soup also changes every day. Anyway, the sweet potato soup was thick and creamy, and had a little spice. It was one of the best soups I have ever had. Not too heavy but definitely rich and full of flavor. For my entree, I ordered the salmon with extra vegetables. The vegetables were cooked to perfection -- drizzled with a little tomato vinaigrette, they had plenty of flavor that would make even a vegetable hater fall in love. The salmon was a decent portion and was seasoned perfectly. I love salmon and would totally come back to eat their salmon. My friend ordered the steak frites and let me try some of it. It was EXCELLENT and I would definitely order that the next time I come in. The mushrooms and cheese on top of the steak frites were so crazy full of decadent flavor and the steak was cooked perfectly, like a nice medium. I was pretty full after eating here, so I didn't get to try any of the desserts, but the menu looked really diverse. I think there's something for everybody here. The quiche seemed to be quite popular as many people at other tables had ordered it. It was also huge! Maybe the largest slices of quiche I've ever seen. Definitely one of Tallahassee's best! I am glad I came in to eat here!

Great place! Service is nice and the phenomenon is warm. The wine sauce for steak is really special. The cooking way of salmon is professional.

Sage has been around a long time in Tallahassee. Admittedly, we did not have dinner; just stopped in for an adult beverage. It was actually my wife's choice to stop. I don't think I have ever sat at the bar at Sage. Bartender was super cool, I got to drink a Buffalo Trace bourbon and my wife had a nice red wine. We struck up a conversation with the couple next to us, because that is what good ambience encourages. So glad we stopped in and also glad that Sage remains open. What an intimate, local, special place.

My wife asked me to find a restaurant where we could sit outside and enjoy the gorgeous weather with our pup. I found Sage on yelp and immediately knew this was the place. We started with an appetizer of Deviled eggs.the deviled eggs were presented, each with its own garnish. The first had a pickled okra wedge. It was a perfect balance between the creaminess of the egg and the acidity of the okra. Next up was an egg topped with a kalamata olive and some crumbled feta. Again, the pairing was just perfect. Finally, the last egg was topped with fried bacon I believe. No complaints here, these were perfect. My wife ordered the sage salad with grilled salmon. The salmon was perfectly grilled and the ginger dressing a perfect match and applied in just the right proportion. I too, ordered the sage salad but with grilled chicken as my protein. I was very happy with everything overall and the service was excellent. The staff was very friendly and helpful with questions regarding the menu. This place is definitely worthy of top of this list for this area. I’ll be back. One note to keep in mind, we were here for their Sunday brunch, the kitchen closes at 2:30. We were unaware and actually showed up at 2:25 or so. They were perfectly fine to allow us to go ahead and order.

Had another wonderful brunch at Sage today. My husband and I had the Bloody Mary's then shared the deviled eggs. The drinks had the most interesting vegetables, pickled okra, a pickle slice, radish slices, olives, thyme sprigs, and grape tomatoes and were very good. He ordered the French Toast which came piled high with fruit. He gave me a small bite which had a syrup that wasn't too sweet. I had the Poached Eggs on Crab Cakes which came with mixed vegetables. The eggs were cooked perfectly. Then for dessert he had ice cream, 1 scoop of vanilla and 1 scoop of chocolate malt. Both were made there. I had the key lime pie with a coconut crust covered with marshmallow cream-need I say more? It was SO good. Everything was perfectly prepared.

We were happy to sit out side for Covid precautions. The Seafood tower was magnificent. Fresh cold oysters, shrimp, lobster, crab leg etc. I really enjoyed the salmon. My aperol spritz was tasty. Our server was nice and efficient. The servers wrote masks.

Best food👌 my compliments to the chef and the waiter tony. I travel a lot for work and it’s so difficult to find great food. This place was amazing. You have to try it 👌♥️ I will try to go back before I leave.

Sage is hands down one of the best restaurants in Tallahassee. The food is consistently incredible—thoughtfully prepared, fresh, and full of flavor. You really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between upscale and laid-back. Great for a nice dinner without feeling overly formal. But what really makes this place stand out is the bar. Brent, Shawn and Terry are absolute pros—knowledgeable, creative, and just a great presence to be around. Whether you want something classic or a custom cocktail, he’s going to make something amazing. Sitting at the bar with one of his drinks is honestly worth the visit alone. Highly recommend Sage for a night out, date night, or just grabbing a great drink and bite at the bar.

Our family held a Celebration of Life event in the private room at Sage Restaurant in March of this year. The food and service were amazing. It was easy to connect a laptop to the large flat screen monitor that guests could view while seated. The room felt open as it connected to a private bar area where the buffet was beautifully displayed. The lighting was lovely with muted windows. We played some music softly from a portable speaker and the space was intimate without feeling cramped. We had approximately 30 guests attend. The staff was outstanding, working to remove plates and refill water glasses quietly in the background while guests stood up to share memories. I highly recommend Sage for a special event. Ginna worked with us to craft a lovely menu - never ran out of food and everything was delicious. Thank you again for providing the perfect venue, the hospitality and support for our tribute.

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at Sage and it was absolutely perfect. The redfish was outstanding—beautifully prepared and full of flavor—and my husband is still talking about how excellent the wagyu burger was. What truly made the night exceptional, though, was our server Sarah. She was warm, attentive, and made us feel genuinely celebrated without ever being overbearing. The service and food together made for a memorable evening, and we’ll absolutely be back. Highly recommend for a special occasion or a great date night.

Filet mignon cooked medium with a peppercorn crust, sides included asparagus grilled crisp. Wine list had some solid by-the-glass options that paired well. Dining room has that upscale feel with soft lighting and white tablecloths.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Sage, and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. We began with the Caesar salad appetizer, which was crisp, fresh, and perfectly dressed without being overwhelming. For the main course, I ordered the prime ribeye, and it was absolutely outstanding—tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. To finish, the chocolate cake dessert was rich, decadent, and the perfect sweet ending to the meal. Overall, Sage delivered on every level—excellent food, great atmosphere, and attentive service. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a delightful dining experience.

This place hit on all cylinders tonight. Alison, our server, was so attentive and crafted a wonderful evening for us. The food was outstanding overall and we enjoyed a very relaxed, 3-hour meal with friends. This is what a great dining experience is all about.

Exceptional restaurant. Great compact wine list. Thoughtful and smart menu. Oysters superb. Octopus superb. Wonderful charcuterie board. Great dessert with well aged sherry. Highly recommend this place. I will be back.

We had a lovely dining experience at Sage in Tallahassee. The French onion soup was perfectly cooked and beautifully served—rich, comforting, and full of flavor. The mac and cheese was an excellent side to our meals, very well prepared, generously portioned, and nicely presented. The char-grilled octopus was absolutely delicious and one of the highlights of the evening. The Provençal stew, however, was a bit too salty for our taste and ended up being our least favorite dish. To finish on a high note, the crème brûlée was exquisite—perfectly executed and a wonderful ending to the meal. The atmosphere was quiet, warm, and inviting, which made it especially enjoyable on a cold Tallahassee night. We also truly loved the service—attentive, professional, and welcoming throughout the evening. Overall, a very enjoyable experience, and we look forward to returning.

Friend recommended this restaurant, my mom and I went. Mom had the trout plate, it was swimming in brown butter and tasted like oil than butter. The flavor of the trout was drowned out by the brown butter as you can see in picture one. The mushrooms were amazing. I myself had the bbq pork chop, it was insanely delicious. It melted in my mouth, mom loved it too. The dessert was yummy, salted Carmel apple cider cheesecake. The waiter was very friendly and informative. He ran down the menu since we had many questions. The service was slow, each time we needed anything; refills, bread, the check took at least 5-10min It was a good experience, so is St.James in Thomasville.

I’ll start off by saying the service was terrific. Summer exhibited a high degree of attentiveness and courtesy. The food was a mixed bag. I started off with the pimento cheese which was extremely salty. However, the celery and carrots counteracted the salinity of the pimento cheese. So that ended up being a good dish. The flatbread was confusing because it was round like a pizza, but there wasn’t much depth in the flavors. Flatbreads are generally rectangular in shape. As for the shrimp burger, it was also excessively salty, but cooked decently. It came with a salad that was forgettable. They offered an up charge of $2 for fries which I found exorbitant since most restaurants generally give the fries without charge to accompany the burger. This is a place you visit for the ambience and service more than the food. If you’re looking for high-quality food, this place is a hard pass.

The escargot and onion soup were good but nothing amazing. Felt like there was too much oil/butter in the rainbow trout dish. The fish itself was nice together with the nuts. The quiche was tasty and had a decent portion. The steak was too chewy but compensated with nice flavors. We found a hair in the rainbow trout and our server immediately apologized and discounted us. Very nice service and lovely patio space as well.

Incredible food, I had a really nice time for my anniversary. We went all out and got apps, wine, desert—it all tasted fantastic. The service was pretty mediocre, our waiter forgot about our table a few times. Additionally, it must be said the interior design of this restaurant is embarrassing for the caliber of food we're getting. It felt like a dressed up TGI Fridays. Complete mess, no vibes at all! I'm new to fine dining in Tallahassee so I'm curious to see how other restaurants compare in that dept, my expectations aren't high. But what matters (food) is exceptional and for that reason alone I'll be back.

My husband & I ate here for lunch yesterday. They were totally booked, but accommodated us w/patio seating (which is where we wanted go sit). The patio area itself could use some love. The umbrellas for gray goose don’t exactly create that French ambiance & it would be great if they played French music. The food, however, didn’t disappoint. The French onion soup was loaded with flavor- we kept digging in for more. The steak frites avec pommes frites was great. I’m pretty picky w/my steaks & I was pretty happy with what I was served. My only critique is that I found the steak & the pommes frites to be too salty for my taste. Next time I’ll just ask for no salt. My husband ordered the shrimp burger & he loved it! He said it was lite enough that he ate the whole thing & didn’t feel it was too much, but he felt satisfied. The shrimp burger was packed with so much flavor- like unexpected citrus- clean & not greasy. Definitely would return & happy we found this place!

Tony did a great job! We had started with the Kettle Chips then had the Croque Monsieur and Beet and Orange Salad with chicken. The chicken had great flavor but was dry. We had a great experience and will stop by again when passing through town.

The place has a great ambience. Lydia was a fabulous waitress provided impeccable service as well awesome recommendations. This was our first visit which was extremely welcoming. We started off with the fried Oysters which were fried fluffy light [not greasy] with two different sauces and kimchi complimented the Oysters perfectly. My friend had the French Onion soup which she enjoyed. Had the recommended cocktail 🍸 Manifest Destiny in which was very easy on the palate and refreshing to drink. She ordered the Rainbow Trout Amandine with fresh string beans and roasted potatoes, she said it was okay, didn't care for the skin left on and the fish was extremely thin wished it could have been a thicker filet. I ordered the Salmon with pearl pasta [almost like pearl couscous] with kale, butternut squash and a puree of butternut squash underneath and roasted carrots on top. It was a really sweet savory and Salmon was under seasoned to Me. Sometimes less is more, I would have left the puree out, kinda gave a almost mush baby food texture, needed some kind of crunch and freshness. It wasn't bad just more sweet needed more spice flavor. Beautiful plating definitely. For dessert we enjoyed the Apple Cake Sundae with Lemon Ricotta Ice Cream, Brown butter crunch and poached cranberries which was a true redemption. The cake was perfect not too sweet and warmed perfectly with the slight tartness of the fresh cranberries balanced the dessert exceptionally. I'd say if we could get a bigger portion of the appetizer Fried Oysters with kimchi, my friend enjoying her cocktail 🍸 and the scrumtious dessert. We will make an effort to try brunch. Thnx

We had good dinner with friends. Nice place, super busy, so I recommend to make a reservation . Put 4 of 5 cause of long waiting between courses.

Food is solid. Chefs know how to cook steak. Atmosphere is nice. Watress was good. 4-4.5 stars accross the board. My only critique is appetizer and especially desserts portions are extremely small.

J
Jennifer Rohleder

Wine was good....Beet goat cheese salad simple and nice.... beautiful presentation of the Salmon which started out good until it was not! I ate bone after bone disposing it into my napkin..... after that it went down hill from there.... way too long trying to wait for another dish... I might try again on another night and see what happens...Bartender needs to not be so off putting to some of the other patrons myself included... his comments were unwarranted

I have heard wonderful things about Sage so much husband and I decided to have brunch there yesterday for our Anniversary. We had reservations and were seated right away. Our waiter was very attentive and came right over to give us water and take out drink orders. We knew right away we wanted the truffle chips because of the reviews so we put in the order as soon as we sat. The chips came out fast and they were so good! Definitely lived up to the hype. I ordered the Bananas Foster Dutch pancake and my husband got the Croque Monsieur. He really liked his sandwich and said he would get it again. Unfortunately I could not say the same for my Dutch baby pancake. It was so salty! I have a big salt tolerance, if anything I over season, but this was like someone mislabeled the salt and sugar. I couldn't eat it. I was horribly disappointed because where I grew up there were a bunch of places who made Dutch pancakes and I missed having them and hoped this could be my new place. To make sure it wasn't just me I took it home to my daughter who spit it out and said she was glad we didn't invite her to go if that's what the food tastes like. The service was outstanding. Truthfully one of the best dining experiences we have had in Tallahassee as far as service. Because of that I cannot give it less then 3 stars. It is a place I would go back to, but not run back or even recommend. I'm disappointed we wasted our Anniversary meal here.

L
Lovelly Rodrig

Food was ok some of it was salty. Way over priced for the amount of food and drinks were not that great. Place was boring and plain inside. Bar was nice. Our waitress was informative. I dont mind spending good money on a plate of food if the ambiance, service, and food is worth it all. Not really impressed by this place.

C
CC Tapia

The good: Fried oysters were 5 stars, also impressed by the fish dip The bad: Giant flies all over the patio swarming my food. Deviled eggs were mediocre and tasteless. I got the ribeye (special of the day) medium rare, it came out well done and gray inside, and they didn’t have another to replace it with. I had never sent anything back to the kitchen… until that dinner. The server was sweet and apologetic though I wanted this to be my go-to date night spot in town, but was disappointed with both the food and the space

J
Jonathan Alexander

Took forever - main complaint. Deviled eggs are not $3. Charcuterie board was cool - well presented and cool choices. The chicken in the STUFFED JOYCE FARMS CHICKEN BREAST had delicious sukotash, but the chicken was a bit dry. Wife didn't like the bathroom - no soap. Tap water - really? Fire this price, we expected better. One bathroom - miles!

We were unfortunately seated by the front door during a really cold night. So, the door kept freezing us when opened. But all involved the food and service was phenomenal.

K
Kiana Scott

The atmosphere was amazing, with very intimate dim lighting, and service was good. Our server was very knowledgeable about the options on the menu. The food, however, was not as good. The appetizers were pleasing; however, the main entrees lacked flavor and were not worth getting.

G
G Merceron

Very negative experience with the customer service and the overall dynamic at this restaurant. This was before being served. Although the food looks good, we will not be back.

J
Julia Smith

While our waitress was pleasant today at lunch, it took 2 hours to have lunch there! After one hour and still no food, we inquired about how much longer and was told it was coming. Another 15 minutes went by before we were served. Dessert took another 15 minutes. We were the first people in the restaurant for lunch at 11:00 am. This is the fault of the kitchen, not the waitress. That said, the food was good - except perhaps too salty.
