The gf bread was the best, it had a nice crust but was SO soft inside. I was told that it's made at a local NY bakery.

Deer Mountain Inn was like wandering into a dream for my wife and I. After driving through the snow-covered back roads of upstate New York, we were met with cookies and what seemed like a work of art more than a formal bed and breakfast nestled among the peaks of the Catskills. The staff were incredibly friendly and the space felt special made for a creative, winter retreat. The Inn really dazzled when dinner came, and we were introduced to a phenomenal menu with customer service that felt like it belonged in a Michelin star restaurant. The basis of the menu relied on a sourdough focaccia that was conceived when the chef was given a welcome gift of a homemade loaf by one of the staff members, but became the foundation of a dining experience that is hard to rival. The food tasted like everything was made in-house -- a detail that the waiter occasionally confirmed -- and the waiter was willing to take his time walking through his recommendations or offer background on the establishment. When we came back the next night, he even remembered us and was willing to offer advice based on what he remembered from our orders the night before. Deer Mountain Inn also offers a complementary breakfast, which allows anyone staying the night to indulge in another facet of the business's culinary excellence. Much as dinner tasted like everything was freshly prepared, everything from the pastries to the yogurt tasted as if the kitchen staff were busy at work making things from scratch. We both enjoyed the stay so much that we can't wait for an opportunity to visit again.

We had an absolutely perfect stay at Deer Mountain Inn, truly a 10/10 experience. This has become our annual trip to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday, and this year we stayed in the Tuckaway Cottage, which exceeded every expectation. The rooms were stunning, cozy yet elevated, and the location was ideal; just walk from the main inn. It felt like having the privacy of an Airbnb with the luxury of concierge service and full access to all of the Inn’s amenities. The staff is exceptional across the board: knowledgeable, kind, attentive, and genuinely invested in making sure guests have an incredible stay. A special callout to Logan, who handled all of my (very nuanced) requests with grace, warmth, and ease. He went above and beyond, and his care truly made a difference in our experience. Dinner at the Inn’s restaurant was another highlight. Steven guided us through an amazing meal, he was incredibly personable, thoughtful, and clearly well-versed in the menu. The food (and wine!) was outstanding and very reasonably priced for the quality. Huge appreciation as well to the Host and Sommelier, who rounded out an unforgettable dining experience. To top it all off, we were unexpectedly caught in a storm during our stay and had to extend our trip due to the weather. After sliding off the road, we were without a car, and yet at no point did we feel alone or unsupported. The Deer Mountain Inn team took extraordinary care of us, and making sure we were safe and comfortable. Their understanding and compassion went far beyond what we could have expected. This place is truly special, not just because of how beautiful it is, but because of the people. We already can’t wait to come back next year.

We had a magical evening dining at the Deer Mountain Inn for our anniversary. Both the inside and outside of the inn are incredibly picturesque. Make sure you get there before your reservation and sit at the dimly light bar for a drink. The bartender is very friendly and the cocktails are awesome. Our waiter was from Brazil, unfortunately we can’t remember his name but he made our dining experience 10/10. He throughly went through the menu and made sure we were happy with everything. You can’t miss this place if you’re in the Catskills. Can’t wait to come back!

If you haven’t been to Deer Mountain Inn for dinner, you truly need to make the time — especially if you’re celebrating something special. We chose to celebrate our anniversary here, and it was hands down one of the best dining experiences we’ve ever had. From the moment we arrived, the ambience felt incredibly cozy, comfortable, and elevated all at once. We were immediately greeted by a kind and welcoming hostess who brought us to our table and surprised us with a special note celebrating our anniversary — such a thoughtful touch. Our server, Steven, was absolutely incredible and went above and beyond to make the evening memorable. He was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and took the time to explain the intricate details and background of each dish. His recommendations were spot-on, and he was personable, attentive, and genuinely enjoyable to talk with throughout the night. We started with the sourdough bread, served with a special dip that evening featuring pork fat and truffle — a must-try. The bread was top-notch and set the tone for what was to come. For our entrée, we shared the Wagyu and chicory salad, which was the perfect portion for two. It was easily one of the best beef dishes I’ve had in a very long time. After dinner, we moved from our table to the lounge couch by the fireplace, where we were even able to relax with our dog while enjoying one of the best old fashioneds we’ve had in a while, along with a truly delicious port wine. It was the perfect way to end the evening. For dessert, we were lucky enough to try their sundae — and it was phenomenal. Words honestly don’t do it justice. We cannot wait to return for another dinner and are already looking forward to staying at the lodge in the near future. Deer Mountain Inn exceeded every expectation and made our anniversary unforgettable

We had the most wonderful stay at Deer Mountain Inn. From the moment we arrived, everything felt like a dream. Such a beautifully decorated spot with gorgeous artwork all around. The winter is especially cozy there with two fireplaces going all night long. Jackson was an excellent bartender - I really enjoyed the Wildflower cocktail they are currently serving. And the Best Burger I have ever had! Their GM Logan's freshly baked focaccia was also a highlight :)

My partner and I chose Deer Mountain Inn as a getaway over the new year’s holiday week, and it did not disappoint! Just a short and easy 1.5 drive from the Albany airport we arrived at the most picturesque inn. From the jump the service was unbelievable and took every chance to make our accommodation as pleasant as possible. The Inn was decorated for the holidays and was so cozy, we loved everything. We stayed in the Adams #4 room and it was so delightful. The fireplace, writing book, and bathtub were highlights! We were also lucky enough to sit at the bar most nights and eat lunch and dinner at the restaurant. It was truly perfect. Don’t hesitate one second and book a few nights with Deer Mountain Inn!

I've been meaning to write this review since dining at the Inn on November 25th. It was truly one of the most spectacular meals I've ever had. From the moment we entered, we experienced outstanding service. Every staff member was incredibly kind and welcoming, enhancing our impeccable experience. Although I can't recall his name, our waiter deserves special mention for being remarkably attentive, knowledgeable, and personable. My mother and I felt honored to have him guide us through the evening. Despite arriving after nightfall, we appreciated the well-lit driveway and the blazing fire pit by the main entrance. The cozy, warm interior transported us to a posh pub in the English countryside. For those familiar with the term, it had a very strong "hygge" ambience. As a vegan and my mother a vegetarian, we often struggle to find suitable options at fine-dining establishments, but Deer Mountain exceeded our expectations. The array of plant-based dishes was pleasantly surprising and very much appreciated. Here are some highlights: •Sourdough Focaccia with various accompaniments (EVOO, burnt carrot and tahini, marinated olives) – MUST TRY… 100/10 •A delightful salad with veggies, nuts, and citrus •Ithaca Soy Tofu atop a bed of beans, fennel, and greens, dressed in a deliciously creamy sauce – one of the most unique tofu dishes I've eaten… 10/10 •A side of Thick Cut Fries Overall, we were blown away by the exceptional service and quality. I cannot recommend this establishment enough for a truly memorable meal. We can't wait to return in the near future! Thank you for being so considerate of your vegan and vegetarian customers. 🌱

We were very pleased with Deer Mountain Inn. Greeted with warmth and all of our needs were taken care of. The cabin where we stayed was cozy and warm. The first night we were there we got 14” of snow and the walks were plowed and cleaned in the morning. Really loved that we could bring our dogs with us. Breakfast was pretty good for a continental. Would definitely visit again!

Restaurant was stunning! The perfect cozy place for an incredible meal. We got the focaccia with stracciatella and chicken pate, smoked trout and corn fritters, and the trout and bavette steak for our mains. Everything was delicious, but standouts for us were the focaccia and fritters. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. One of our favorite places during our visit to the Catskills. Will definitely be back!!

Had an incredible experience tonight at DMI. The wine selection was outstanding, and the food was absolutely phenomenal - you really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. What truly set the night apart, though, was the service. Huge shoutout to Steve for taking such great care of us. Management should be proud to have him on the team. We’ll definitely be back soon.

Dined here on our Honeymoon whilst up in the Catskills from NYC. We had heard great things from industry friends and although we are very familiar to the area this was our first time dining at Deer Mountain Inn! We truly only have incredible things to say about this place. The food was out of this world (special mention to the sourdough obviously!), but wanted to give a shout out to the service. Thanks to our server Steven, we had one of the most memorable dining experiences! He (and the rest of the staff) were all so knowledgeable and beyond friendly. They made us feel so welcomed and celebrated. I could not recommend this place anymore!! Love love love. Can’t wait to return!

My boyfriend and I visited the restaurant at Deer Mountain Inn for dinner in early December - it was one of the best meals we have ever had, hands down. We loved it so much that we ended up coming back the next night for dinner again! Standouts include the sourdough bread and assorted dips, the steelhead trout dish and the halvah dessert. The service was impeccable, our waiter the first night was Steven and he was fantastic. Hugh was our waiter the second night and also great. We hope to come back the next time we are visiting the area!

We celebrated our anniversary with dinner at Deer Mountain Inn, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. The setting is beautiful and intimate, with that perfect mix of mountain charm and refined elegance. From the moment we were seated, we could tell the staff cared about the details — they even placed a handwritten “Happy Anniversary” card on our table, which was such a thoughtful touch. The food was outstanding. We ordered the Wagyu Bavette steak and the Steelhead trout, and both dishes were absolutely amazing — perfectly cooked, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. The Bavette in particular was unforgettable, one of those meals you keep thinking about long after. The Jewel of the Mountain cocktail was also a standout — balanced, creative, and just the right way to start the evening. Everything about the night — the atmosphere, the service, and the food — made it truly special. Deer Mountain Inn is fine dining at its best, and we can’t wait to go back.

Absolute perfection. Deer Mountain Inn is the dog-owner’s dream. The accommodations are comfortable to the point of otherworldly, the decor and common spaces are delightfully cozy, and the fresh air and private surroundings make it a perfect getaway venue. The entire lodge and the cabins are dog friendly, so your pet can enjoy a vacation while staying right by your side. On top of a perfectly warm and homey feel, the staff are exceptional — they deliver top notch customer service and will go above and beyond whenever they can to ensure your stay exceeds all expectations. I had to hold myself back from booking another stay this Christmas, but I know I will be back again soon

We can’t wait to return as hotel guests — We celebrated our engagement dinner here. They had no prior knowledge, but Alex, our incredible waiter, was quick to acknowledge and celebrate us with champagne and beyond amazing service! He was so kind and attentive. The food was delectable - from the special that day, to the burgers and fries (seriously… some of the best french fries I have ever had) and the music playlist was *chefs kiss* The hostess was so sweet. My fiancé left his hat that night and the staff were quick to answer our call and have it ready for us to pick up. We can’t wait to return! Thank you for making our dinner so special. ❤️

Beautiful location and atmosphere! We just went last night for the 3rd time there and sat at the bar. We weren’t hungry so we ordered drinks and appetizers. The sourdough focaccia was burnt on the outside but too soft on the inside. The pork cheeks were like very thin slices of soap and not good at all. I wish they didn’t have that on the menu, it doesn’t look like food. When we asked the bartender to exchange it for the bacon he said he can’t because we had too much of it but there was very little to begin with. The Croatian wine was disappointing too. Will not be going there soon

The food is not fresh. Much of it appears to be prepared well in advance, vacuum-sealed, and stored in walk-in freezers that, during my experience, showed sanitation problems such as mold on walls and container lids. Whether these issues have since been corrected is unknown. Despite the size of the property, the kitchen is cramped and overcrowded, creating an environment that feels chaotic rather than controlled. Cleanliness and organization suffer as a result. More concerning is the kitchen culture. During service, cooks engage in constant, unfocused conversation, gossip, and joking, which comes across as unprofessional and careless in a food-handling environment. The atmosphere feels toxic and dismissive rather than disciplined or collaborative, with little sense of accountability or pride in the work. The food is aggressively seasoned, which may appeal at first but ultimately masks a lack of balance and technique. Overall, this kitchen feels driven by routine and complacency rather than care, integrity, or respect for the craft and the guest.
