Opinions de Bread Alone Woodstock
One of the best morning glory muffins I have ever had. Great staff and fresh yummy baked goods. A pleasant stop when passing through Woodstock.
Best spot hands down for brunch. Hummus and vegetable on ciabatta and spring salad. We got at least 15 variety of vegetables out of that meal. Coffee is extraordinary. Sat outside. Forgot to take pics because we didn’t pause before devouring.
What a cute place. We got a beautiful loaf for farm sourdough, and some coffees. We didn’t plan on sitting down but service was so nice and we saw there was wifi. Decided to stay and do some work. The vibe was great, from staff and customers, so friendly. Ended up staying for an hour and bought a bunch of cookies which were so good! Place is very clean too:)
Good breakfast burrito and coffee. Also I love that this place is fully solar-powered and carbon neutral!
We walked in to find a line at 8am and then after ordering understood why. The bagel sandwich and nut butter bread were both excellent. All types of fresh baked breads and pastries makes for hard choices but no bad choices whatever you order.
Everything from here was fantastic, and despite the long line, it moved SO quickly! The bread here is so good, it’s used by most of the local stores too. We got the brioche buns (great), the cinnamon twist loaf (delicious for breakfast!), and had so many local sandwiches at other places which all used their bread (all great). We also got delicious lattes (unexpectedly just as good as the bread). We are contemplating buying the recipe book too! Definitely stop here is you like fluffy fresh bread.
This is my go to first stop when I get hungry. I highly recommend the chicken salad, served on the absolute freshest greens i have ever eaten. My lunches are so delicious here I often ask for the ingredients and the food prepper is kind enough to tell me. The sourdough rolls are just scrumptious.
Excellent in every way. Very efficient counter staff. Wish the menu was printed on big signs behind the counter on the wall.
I recently stayed in the Catskills for a getway and stopped by woodstock. I randomly found this bakery when I was looking for a quick stop for a hot drink. I tried the latte and the hot chocolate. I didn’t love the latte as I prefer it sweeter, but the hot was really good! They had various pasteries, cakes and croissants. It was modern and clean looking inside. I recommend stopping by for a hot chocolate.
Have been to two locations and they make amazing products. Better get there fast before they sell out of bread.
The best coffee and pastries in Woodstock can be found right here at Bread Alone. Their bagels are equally outstanding with their everything bagel being one of the best I’ve ever eaten. The staff is always warm and helpful. The outdoor seating is a big plus. And don’t worry about the lines either, they move fast.
Excellent local place for baked goods and coffee! The staff is very friendly and helpful. It can be kind of crowded, though.
The salmon bagel works is the best sandwhich I have ever had
💕 LOVE!!! Staff was so friendly and helpful not to mention the best coffee and bakery items. Loved the almond croissant!!!
A truly impressive establishment. I was about the 8th person in line and to get through the line took around 90 seconds! The food was hot, fresh, and delicious. The efficiency was not cold and dismissive, instead the servers still took the time to greet people, including birthday dogs, answer questions and do it with a smile. I hope to return soon.
My avocado toast was perfect. So were other sandwiches near me. They are not the best for coffee, but the bread and food are excellent
Coffee is soooo good! I had a hot caramel latte. The next day I went back and ordered it iced. Both times amazing. I also had the grilled cheese which was delicious. Crispy edges, my favorite! I had the egg & cheese the next day and I also enjoyed that very much. Cute little coffee shop! Definitely recommend!
First time @breadalonebakery in Woodstock.. breakfast burrito was delicious, all fresh and tasty ingredients eggs, avocado, salsa, beans , sour cream yummy, pecan sticky bun was ridiculous, so many pecans , loaded to the gill, easily wipe out a village of woke nut allergy softies haha, morning bun was good , had better, probably been sitting since this morning… chai was spot on…. Good to know next time I’m up here ….
Made a quick stop for a to-go snack while in Woodstock, and we weren’t disappointed. There’s much more to explore and try - and now we really want to come back for more sandwiches - but with a baked good and a club sandwich, we got a good insight into what makes Bread Alone so beloved. It isn’t the cheapest, and the menu is rather limited, but their bread (ciabatta in our case) is absolutely fantastic, and their blend of flavours in a basic item like a club sandwich comes together as a brilliant and delicious experience. Next time we’ll go for a full loaf. Even as a spoiled European, this is bread that makes me want more.
What a cute and quaint little bakery. I got the breakfast burrito and added bacon. It was very filling and packed with a good amount of guac. I also picked up several pastries which ended up being very good. I also picked up strawberry rhubarb jam! Def worth checking out for a reasonably priced breakfast or lunch.
Bread Alone Bakery in Woodstock, NY was a fantastic find during my visit to the area from Miami! As a bread lover, I truly appreciated their fresh sourdough and delicious pastriesall at generous prices. The cozy atmosphere and friendly service made it a perfect stop for breakfast or a coffee break. Highly recommend!
Great food good service good choices Great oatmeal with peaches and raisins as well as the whole grain toast Easy parking as well as other pastries, the managment very polite and helpfull A small remark, I would check the restrooms more often to clean Overall THE PLACE for breakfast and vibe Thank you
We always have a great experience at Bread Alone! We’ve had a few different breakfast sandwiches and they’ve all been great. I had the salmon bagel today and it was fresh and delicious. The coffee is always good and so are the pastries. The chocolate croissant is amazing! I also tried an oatmeal moon pie and it was so good! Definitely check out this bakery if you’re in the area.
We're early risers, so we were thankful that Bread Alone was open at 7am. We ordered take out and got the avocado toast (10/10), and breakfast burrito with sausage added (10/10) as well as an iced Chai - one of the best I've ever had! We also got a couple of fresh loaves to take home to Maryland and try - very excited to try the Olive Ciabatta. To top it all off we tried the lemon currant scone which was DELICIOUS!! Will definitely be stopping here again on out next trip to Woodstock :) Our only recommendation is that the staff (two girls at the front counter) should be more diligent in welcoming guests and assisting in take-out orders.
Fast friendly service. The line looked intimidating but it moved very quickly, just a small space in the front. The pastries all looked delicious. I ordered a sticky bun, matcha latte and latte. I was happy they had almond milk and the matcha was good quality. My husband enjoyed his latte.
Great pastries, baguettes and more. It is the spot for a quick breakfast like the egg and cheese sandwich or an avocado toast. All really fresh and great, and made the way you like them.
We love coming here for takeout and dine-in, all year round. It’s a local hot spot. Now, to the food: The drinks (coffees and tea lattes) are phenomenal. I always enjoy my chai tea latte from here. Not too sweet, not underwhelming either. The pastries are very good. We always get the morning bun and baker’s muffin. Very much enjoy the bagel sandwiches. The egg and cheese, as well as the spicy egg, and their pork sandwiches are very good! It doesn’t seem like you can go wrong really.
Bread Alone in Woodstock was such a delightful first visit. The moment I walked in, I was welcomed by the amazing aroma of fresh bread and coffee. They have plenty of bread and pastry options. I tried the carrot cake and it was divine. I also got an iced caramel latte, which was really good! It’s a cute coffee shop with a cozy ambiance and delicious food. I’ll definitely be back. ☕
The whipped ricotta toast was mind blowing. A lot of places have been doing this but I find the ricotta a lot of times flavorless, but this one was perfectly seasoned throughout, the honey gave the saltiness a nice balance and the squash was perfectly paired into the toast. Needless to say the bread was also incredible and I chose to add egg in it for some extra pop. I loved the breakfast burrito also which was very simple but everything done right which is hard to find surprisingly. I finished with the mocha which was also great too, definitely check this out if in Woodstock.
We really enjoyed our breakfast here! It was so good that we had to come back the next day. We tried the spicy green eggs, the pecan-cashew-walnut butter, the ricotta toast and the avocado toast, the friend egg bun and breakfast burrito. The bread is so so good and we bought a loaf to take home. We also bought some pastries and tried the coffee, which were fine, but not the highlight. Service was great. The place was really busy both mornings we were there but we were able to find seats.
The minute you walk in, you’re greeted by a gorgeous glass case full of pastries that all look absolutely incredible. Everything is so fresh and inviting! The staff is really friendly and the service is quick, which makes the whole experience even better. I ordered an iced latte and a chai, both were excellent. For pastries, we went with the morning bun and the broccoli & cheddar pastry—both were delicious. Can’t wait to go back and try another pastry next time!
the best bagel i have ever had in my LIFE!! and i am a born and raised native new yorker and nothing compares to the airy bubbly bagel i had a few days ago i am still thinking about it to be honest 😭😭😭 and the matcha latte with an espresso was DELICIOUS!!! DEFINITELY COMING BACK especially with the very sweet staff they were so nice even though we came in like 5 minutes before closing 😭😭❣️
Delicious bakery and deli options for dining. Their coffee is always delicious as well. I ordered the broccoli salad and it came out quickly. The bread that came with my salad was filling and had comforting flavor. This location almost always has a line on the weekends and there are limited seating options so keep that in mind!
Amazing pastries and it's evident why they sell out of stuff so fast. The items here are just too good to pass up and are a must try. I was visiting family from Texas. It was my first time trying a Canelé and I was blown away. It was so good that I actually went home and ordered a dozen copper molds to make them myself. And ever since my trip I've been dedicated to perfecting them. My girlfriend also had the ricotta spread on their house toast and loved it!
Super cute bakery. Was driving home from a weekend away and my friend yelled "STOP!" She had been here before. It was first time - won't be the last. Great treats here and staff is super friendly. I got a sticky bun. My friend left with a big bag of stuff, lol. She was a happy camper, that's for sure! If you are ever in the area - stop and see for yourself.
Loved this place for breakfast! The bread for my sandwich was incredibly fresh and crispy. The food was delicious and arrived almost instantly. They have a great selection of pastries to choose from as well. Although the place seemed crowded at times, there were always tables available, and the service was impressively fast. I’ll definitely be back whenever I’m in the area.
My fav Bread Alone location. Breakfast burrito is better than any I get at home in NM. One star off for service as the newer staff are less than friendly. The long term staff, however, is great. Sorry to say they’ve changed their bread selections….
Super busy but has a decent menu of plated food plus pastries and bread. The coffee was served hotter than the surface of the sun so plan for some time to drink it 😅
We stopped in for a quick cup of something warm and a pastry. I had the chai latte, which was very good, and the pecan breakfast bun. My husband had a croissant. The food was awesome and we were impressed with the quality of the pastries. This place does get busy quickly and quite crowded, which makes it difficult to find seating. A lunch menu is served, which we did not order from but looked delicious. Something that added to the problem of seating is patrons who leave their dishes on the tables and walk away (happened near us at the counter in the front). It was unclear whether customers are supposed to put their plates in a specific area for cleaning once finished, and it was so busy that they didn't inquire with one of the employees, so they just left them. Maybe if a sign could go up instructing customers what they should do in busier times that could be helpful for both staff and other customers. Otherwise a really lovely spot!
Go for the sandwiches or a bread. Id skip the bagels. From an nyc bagel that just hits perfect this one was really dry and not fun to eat. The lunch sandwiches both the broccoli cheese and the Ruben were very good.
Their pastries were a little meh and not the freshest. the place is super busy and crowded
Always enjoy going there and woodstock. I miss the 4 pack of brioche rolls. My favorite sandwich is also off the menu. I know they have to change things. Enjoy the soup. I also wish they would send some brioche rolls to the co-op in albany. Oh well. Will continue to visit when going to woodstock.
I recently stopped by Bread Alone and had a decent experience. I ordered the spicy green egg sandwich, and while the overall flavor was really good, the scallions were a bit tough to chew through, and I wish the bread had been a little less crusty, especially for a breakfast sandwich. That said, the prices were reasonable for the quality of the food. My only complaint was the space. It felt pretty cramped, and there wasn’t much standing room to wait for food or drinks. I’m not sure if we came during a particularly busy time, but it made the experience feel a little chaotic. If you’re looking for a flavorful breakfast with fair pricing, Bread Alone is worth a visit, but be prepared for a bit of a tight space if it’s busy.
TINY TINY BUILDING!!! I love it here, firstly. Food is always amazing, all of the baristas are so kind and fast with coffee as well. Only thing I'll add is this place is EXTREMELY small...and gets EXTREMELY busy. So, if you are older (like me) I recommend going later in the day so you don't feel cramped. Or go to the Boiceville location, which I also really enjoy and I write there!
Amazing assortment and quality of pastries and baked sweets. Their Geneva cake is a lesson in marzipan baked good excellence, I would have loved to spend more time trying the kitchen preparations and breads. Their milk based espresso drinks were also very well done but I thought their espresso was a tad sloppy.
I stopped by here between 9:30 and 10:00 AM on a Saturday, and the line was already out the door. After eating here, I can say the line is completely justified! Everything was incredibly fresh, and the quality of the food is top-tier. It was super cramped inside because every single table was full, but I luckily managed to snag a spot. I usually don’t love crowded, loud environments, but it was worth it here. The bustling vibe really just speaks to how good the food is. Plus, despite how busy it was, the service remained quick and friendly. The highlight was the spicy egg sandwich. I’m not sure exactly what sauce they used, but it was the highlight for me—it added a perfect, flavorful kick that elevated the whole sandwich. You can tell they use high-quality ingredients, and the bread (as expected) was excellent. If you see a line, don’t let it scare you off. This is a must-visit in Woodstock for a reason. I'll definitely be back for that sandwich!
We are familiar with bread & pastries from Bread Alone since they sell their products in supermarkets and farmer’s markets. It’s pretty popular and crowded even in the afternoon. We got an Organic Peasant, 2 Scones and Caneles as breakfast & desserts. Our favorite was the scone, which the texture was moist inside with crispy layer. We were a little disappointed that there was no almond croissant available and hope we can try it next time.
Average at best. The outdoor seating is nice and they have a big selection of items but everything we ordered was subpar. Feels like a Panera.
Had a quick breakfast here recently. The staff was friendly and service was quick. I ordered a bacon egg and cheese sandwich that was dry and the contents were very meager, as I could only basically see the bread and none of the egg, cheese or bacon. It also came out very quickly and reminded of the quality of a fast food restaurant, like Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks. It was very disappointing, especially for $8. Their pastries, however, were excellent, especially their scones and croissants.
Americano lovers beware! This place does not add extra shots to their large americanos, only water. Whole story: I ordered an americano, they asked regular or large. I said large. I get the americano, it looks like tea and tastes like water. I ask the waiter who delivers our food to the table, and she confirms my suspicions. Thankfully she was nice enough to get me an extra shot in the americano, but it was still very weak. TLDR/Long story short: just get the regular size americano. Cannot recommend eating in the restaurant as there is very limited seating. Would benefit from signage asking patrons to kindly surrender their table as soon as they’re done (it’s the kind thing to do, there were families who couldn’t sit down to eat with their kids because people were lingering). Food we ordered was great. Green Spicy Eggs sandwich was steamy and just as spicy as we wanted. Everything bagel was a little flat, but the seeds and texture were good.
Not too impressed. The counter staff are not very friendly, appear to be rushed and annoyed providing service. The food is overpriced, which might be understandable considering they seem to cater to boutique NYC clientele, but those prices should at least reflect quality servings; the coffee is average, industrial level & watery, and the sandwich (lox) I ordered had barely one slice of salmon. The two friends with me were similarly unimpressed with their dishes. It would not take much to raise the servings standards to match their prices.
Was a very nice bakery. The bread and sandwiches were very tasty. The service, however, left much to be desired. Not sure if it was because we were minorities but we got a lot of sighs and scowls from a couple of the staff. Certainly no smiles or even “your welcomes”.
Woodstock location: 1 star for good coffee & pastry day and 1 for solid lattes on day two . However, not pictured because I forgot to take a photo was the ciabatta (lack of) bacon, egg & cheese. It tasted good, so sure 1 star, but the fact that I just paid $8 for each BEC (rip off) but with 1 slice of bacon? On each sandwich is rude, if I’m paying higher prices than I would in the city it better be the best BEC I’ve had in my life… Minus 2 points for the fact that two days in a row the cashiers are just so unpleasant. Not sure what’s happening there, but this sweet older woman ahead of us was being kind and asking a question about flavor syrups, and the dead cashier with the curly hair/braid was just so rude to her. Thankfully the person with glasses checked us out. She seemed neutral , but still not pleasant, and the older barista making the lattes was also snappy when I asked a question about the espresso shots… so yeah, sadly this was our first visit to Woodstock… I guess I’m glad their pastries are what save them. If the rudeness had been just been one day I would have given 4 stars but two days in a row shows a lack in the training. Quality for the pastries then I’d say just for that it’s worth the visit…
Don’t get the matcha! The matcha is new menu item, about a month old. It was very very under-mixed and left clumps of powder in my mouth- just an easy mistake to make with those who don’t know how to make matcha. I took this photo after I had mixed it for about 5 minutes myself- it was so much worse before I mixed. Matcha needs to be vigorously whisked and fully incorporated with a tiny bit of milk before then being added to the rest of the drink. It’s not a “just add milk” instant beverage- matcha is its own art just like coffee. I usually wouldn’t leave a review but while I was mixing my matcha 2 other customers had said “ooo matcha is that new!” And this is the best I could do to warn them… super kind staff and really enjoyed my time there- they just need some matcha training. I bet it will be great once they do.
A bit pricy - over $10 for 2 pastries. Not the best pastries I’ve ever had, but pretty good and certainly hit the spot after a long hike. There was a bug on our pecan stickie bun in the bag…so that was certainly a bummer.
I loved this place, so it’s hard for me to write this review but I am compelled to do so because what I witnessed was reckless and irresponsible. I came in at 4:30pm and ordered a sandwich. As I was waiting for it with my lady I watch the cook take out the trash with his bare hands, come back in then take another bag full of trash outside. When he walked back inside he went straight for one glove and finished my sandwich. HE DID NOT WASH his hands AND he only wore one glove. this is so unsafe, this is how food poisoning happens or worst. I am highly disappointed. I threw away the sandwich. Please do better for your clients. This is unacceptable. I was there on November 19th 2024.
Ordered two egg sandwiches and two iced lattes and got drinks pretty quick but food took 20 minutes. Bread is good but sandwich interior was mediocre and needed seasoning. Looked like the online ordering was going wild and causing the delay because we were one of very few people inside. As I write this I just went to take a drink of my latte and saw mold frozen inside an ice cube. Was going to be three stars but down to two now.
I stopped by Bread Alone in Woodstock and spent over $35 for a blueberry muffin, croissant, apple turnover, oatmeal cookies, a small latte, and a small cup of milk. The food was absolutely delicious—fresh, flaky, and flavorful across the board. Super expensive but delicious. However, the experience was dampened by the service. It took over 20 minutes just to get a latte and a cup of milk. We noticed other customers receiving their drinks before us, even though they had ordered after. When I politely asked the staff member about it, she responded quite rudely and said she makes the drinks “when it’s convenient for her.” Not sure how that system works, but it didn’t sit right. To make matters more confusing, they don’t take names for drink orders, so there’s no way to know which drink belongs to whom. I’m honestly convinced someone else ended up with our drinks. All in all, great food, but the disorganized and unprofessional service really took away from the experience. Hopefully, they work out a better system, because the bakery itself has a lot of potential
It took 40 minutes to get one burrito and the place was more than half empty. They are quick to take your money and don't care about efficient service. I could make a better burrito at a fraction of the rip-off price they charge and it will take far less than 40 minutes to prepare. I do NOT recommend this establishment at all.
Usually heave great experiences. The team refused to heat up a pastry indicating the kitchen was closed at 2 PM on a Saturday. Clearly not the case, I could see the toaster from the register. Tempted to heat it up myself. Nothing beats a surprise health inspection.
OUR PETITION ON BREAD ALONE's PLASTIC PROBLEM: A little over a year ago, I wrote a review calling out Bread Alone’s large plastic footprint, this despite their publicly-stated position of being a sustainable company. Lee replied to my post, stating that the company was working to replace their single use plastic bread bags with compostable options and that I should “stay tuned”. Sadly, however, while their stand alone bakeries, such as this one in Woodstock, offer plastic-free packaging options for unsliced bread, Bread Alone’s big grocery store business (see the photo from a Woodstock grocery store near the bakery) and their direct supply to organizations continue to be plastic-based. How many more plastic bags were created over the past 13 months since my initial review? How many more are to come? Plastic, which is made from fossil fuels and other toxic substances, is a growing disaster for our planet. Plastic bag recycling options are also shrinking in our community. Sadly, Bread Alone is still not bread alone. That’s a problem for our earth and our community. Bread Alone, when, exactly, will your bread be plastic-bag free? (See petition below.)
Received tuna on burnt bread. When I asked for another piece of bread, they wanted to charge me for another half of a sandwich. Instead of apologizing for burning the bread and the hassle, I was treated like a nuisance. My apologies to the hipster for not wanting to eat burnt bread.
Bread alone makes horrible bread. They're overpriced the quality of their bread is low. The bread is baked in kingston or boiceville and by the time you buy it is stale. The sandwiches have gone downhill anytime you get meat on a sandwich its overcooked. Its 14 bucks if you're lucky for the sandwiches. Their coffee is also horrible dunkin makes a better iced mocha on most days. This bakery wouldn't last a week in paris.
