Just fabulous. We are from out of town, and this restaurant was recommended to us by some locals. It was absolutely worth it! The food is generous portions, the atmosphere and the vibe were really positive. The server was really helpful in helping us make food and drink decisions. We would absolutely come back!
YES 5 stars across the board. RARE & wonderful! We live more than an hour away and keep making the drive. Manager, Paolo, is on top of everything, a true team player that leads by example. Service is uncompromising. The menu is diverse and every dish my family and I have ordered has been consistently prepared to perfection. Delicious, too!
As a Malaysian, if you travel abroad, out of blue you will start to remember the taste of Malaysian food, and I would say this place might satisfy that cravings. The roti canai is the best. Not because we are really hungry but it’s really satisfying and meet our expectations. Ikan bakar? Where else can you see the word “ikan bakar” in a menu in Houston? I might not travel a lot in Houston, but from all places I’ve been, this is really interesting approach to engage people to test out what is “ikan bakar”! The way it’s being grilled is the same in Malaysia with sambal. It’s good! Kangkung with belacan? It’s just ok for me. Sweet shrimp, I like it. The taste is just like how my mom makes it. With white rice, it’s just like you are in tomyam restaurant back in Malaysia. Now, if it has “telur dadar” in its menu, that will complete the list of Malaysian food. It’s also has “Malaysia Milk Tea” but it’s too sweet for me.. the taste of tea is lost in that sweetness .. but it’s ok because where else can you get beverage that has sweet condensed milk? Only if they offer hot teh tarik during this winter season, that will be nice 😄.
Diversity is delicious. Another international flavor is in The Woodlands. Good food, very close to authentic. They have a good selection of both Malaysian and Indonesian staples like Nasi Lemak, Rendand and Nasi Goreng to name a few. Service is good and genuine. They also have a good selection of drinks and cocktails. Lots of parking.
Came here with a group and received very good service from Bruce. He answered all our questions about the menu selections. None of us had never been to a restaurant labeled as Malaysian food, so we were unfamiliar with some of the items. Items. I had a mushroom Curry dish that was fabulous. We shared dishes and everything was fresh and well prepared. Including the octopus. Definitely get a garlic green beans and share it. It's listed as a main dish but it really is a side for about four people. And be sure to ask about dessert. They have these puffed cinnamon pastries that are worth every calorie.
A lovely eatery with the back part of the restaurant with glass walls and feeling like youre in the woods. First time here and we were not ready for the amount of great food. Included are photos of the things we ordered but everything was top notch. The staff were very helpful in telling us how ordering worked, how spicy we could get things, and ended our birthday dinner with delicious roti dessert covered in powdered sugar. Rendang chicken very tender. Not crazy spicy. Malaysian rice lovee. Thought the beets would make it weird but theyre small and dont take away from the flavor. Would go back!
I love the decor and food options. We had the sizzling beef and grilled green beans. They were a perfect 5 ! The beef was tender, the onions and bell pepper were crunchy. We chose spoce level 3 for both. We also had soup with level 3 spice. Again perfect. This is We can wait to return for the next fish.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (If I could give 100 stars, I would!) It was our first time visiting this authentic restaurant last Sunday, and it was absolutely outstanding! The food came out fresh with generous portions — perfect for sharing with the family. The ambiance made us feel like we time-traveled straight to Malaysia — warm, vibrant, and full of culture. The staff was so friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. We celebrated my daughter’s birthday here, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. Highly recommend this gem — truly deserving of more than 5 stars! We ordered Calamari, Malaysian Chicken Curry, Roti, Skewers and the Award Winning Beef Rendang!!!!
Checked out Phat Eatery last night. To keep things short, im looking forward to next time! When the gf and I were seated, we were delighted to hear that they make dim sum on Sundays. Naturally, we had to get a handful! Each one was an explosion of awesome flavor. Along with the dim sum came some sticky and rice mushrooms, which we thought was tasty as well. Textures were nice, rice was slightly sweet and mushrooms tasted good. Took a little while to come out (not a bad thing at all), but the entrees came out even quicker. I went with their char kway teow. I love rice flat noodles but I love seafood even more. The shrimp and calamari were cooked to perfection. The Chinese sausage and bean sprouts were delicious as well. Gf decided to try the nasi lemak. The richness of the curry chicken was greatly accompanied by some peanuts and dried anchovies. Truly a tantalizing experience for your taste buds. Overall, everything was spectacular and the food tasted very comforting. I recommend trying their Thai beer as it was a great accompaniment to both dishes as it was the most light and crisp brew Ive had. Staff was attentive and friendly, server Amber took great care of us. Check this place out, you won't regret it.
Absolutely amazing. I’ve been here twice in a few months and both time were a wonderful experience. The staff are so friendly and kind and explain the dishes in a way. That’s very down to earth and relatable. The food was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced in the Woodlands. The Woodlands foodie group actually recommended this place and they did not disappoint. The billionaire fried absolutely a favorite but to be honest, we loved everything we ordered. Go here!!
This is my first time coming to this place. It's kind of hidden. But the food was okay. Food is not as hot as I wanted to come out temperature wise. But it was not bad I got the Malaysian Curry chicken and roti. There's five different spice levels, I got spice level 3 which was pretty decently hot(spice). It was very spacious, and I will see it quickly, the waitress was very attentive.
This spot is truly a hidden gem. From the moment we walked in, it felt like we had stepped into a new restaurant back in Houston. The atmosphere was great and the vibes were welcoming. We started with the fried calamari, which was served with more than just the usual crispy pieces. The addition of sautéed onions, bell peppers, and a light bed of fresh lettuce made the dish refreshing and unique. For our main, we shared the Mee Goreng, a flavorful egg noodle dish with chicken, shrimp, soy tofu, egg, and assorted vegetables. Every bite was delicious. We’ll definitely be coming back!
Went to the woodlands location for the 1st time and it didn’t disappoint! Great location, great food and the service and staff were so friendly. Paolo was so awesome and very informative on the food and style, along with helping us choose what to try from their restaurant weeks menu. Enjoyed all the selections! Anita was also super nice and always available for anything we needed. We will def be back and can’t wait for the dim sum to be added! Also, try the pink rabbit drink! 10 out of 10 experience and food/drinks! Ambiance and decor was top notch as well.
Thank you Amber for your amazing service and your recommendations. If you want flavor, quality of food and great atmosphere this is the spot, plus it is high end. Absolutely everything we ordered we loved. We can’t wait to be back and will absolutely recommend. We ordered: Roti canai 100/10 Satay skewers 100/10 Pineapple fried rice 100/10 Basil beef 100/10
Ambiance: Malaysian restaurant decorated with a street vendor & modern aesthetic perfect for lunch, a date night, or any special occasion! Their menu is expansive and there are several options for curry, rice, noodles and more. They also offer vegan/vegetarian cuisine options. There is a bar area to sit at as well as several table options. Do note that it does get crowded at peak times/weekends. Parking onsite. We enjoyed sitting in the back room with windows that overlook The Woodlands greenery. A bit on the pricey side but totally worth it for the food quality & service! Our waiter was super friendly, fast, & knowledgeable. Everyone on staff was welcoming and went out of their way to open doors & accommodate guests. Our food came out quickly despite ordering during the lunch rush. I high recommend Phat Eatery! The chicken curry was possibly some of the best curry I've ever had - especially in the area. Large portions as well, making for great leftovers.
My husband and I had a lovely dinner here and it was his first time trying Malaysian food. We loved the modern design and were seated in an area surrounded by windows with natural light and views of the trees. It was gorgeous and welcoming. The overall design of the restaurant mimics the streets of Malaysia as if you were going to try some street food. It's an open air kitchen so you can actually watch the chefs cook. They are somehow able to combine modern with street like and futuristic style. The menu is easy to navigate with plenty of options. Pricing is very fair. Service is friendly and attentive. I was pleased with the flavors of the food and the presentation. We ordered the whole fried Pomfret fish and ate with our hands and didn't receive any dirty looks. There is no other way to eat fish in order to get all the meat. It was perfectly cooked and the unlimited white rice was wonderful! We also liked the noodles we ordered. Not sure what it was called but it had this great fried wok flavor we demolished it. The roti was soft and fluffy with yummy curry sauce. We live 5 minutes away from this restaurant so we will certainly be back to try other dishes on the menu!
Excellent place! The food is served family style and it was delicious. We decided to sample a few entrees and took the server’s recommendation of her favorite dish, the CK Teow, and we loved it! The only complaint we had was the calamari in the CK Teow, which was rubbery and very chewy. The beef rendang was so tender and flavorful and the Malaysian fried rice had a perfect blend of meats and veggies. We like spicy dishes and chose level 3 (out of 5).
Good food but not explosive in flavor as true street food is in Malaysia. Good service, great atmosphere; however, pricey for it being regular street food - nothing fancy, Overall spent $40 per person, including two non-alcoholic drinks, and a beer. Ordered Roti Canai (plus add-on Roti) with Curry Sauce, Mee Goreng, Beef Rendang, and Tofu in Sizzling Pepper Sauce. Drinks and food arrived promptly - tastes and quantities were on point, although flavors were quite a bit muted as compared to the street fare on offer in Malaysia. Spice levels went from 1-5; ordered level 3-Thai spicy, which was just right. All in all a good Sunday late-lunch family outing - set us back $120+, though, including tax and tip! As I said, pricey….
We decided to try Phat Eatery for takeout, but overall it was a mixed experience. The Hokkien Mee was disappointing — it didn’t have the signature wok hei (that smoky aroma), and all I could really taste was soy sauce. It’s definitely not the authentic Malaysian-style Hokkien Mee I was expecting, though they were generous with the amount of meat and seafood. The Nasi Lemak with Curry Chicken also fell short. The rice was quite bland, and the sambal leaned sour rather than spicy or savory. The curry chicken was good, but it felt like the sauce didn’t really seep into the chicken. The Char Kuey Teow was decent in flavor, but the type of kuey teow used was slightly thicker and coarser than what we usually have in Malaysia. On a positive note, the ambience at the restaurant is nice, and the staff were friendly and attentive.
