Opinions de Panera Bread Thousand Oaks
I’ve been to quite a few Panera’s over the years as I appreciate the fact that I can get a solid salad quickly. This Panera was a cut above. Super clean, super fast, and of course exactly what I expected from the food. The reason this is getting 5 stars is because I was so impressed with the management. Martin, the GM on duty, was leading from the front. While I was there, I noticed him directing staff, taking orders, answering questions, and at one point bussing tables. His dedication to taking care of customers was apparent and his staff was attentive as well. Loved the positive vibe. Will be back to this location soon.
There was a young tall man with his hair slicked back/side that took my order AND brought my food that provided, absolutely excellent service! He was super polite and knew the menu very well. I dont come to Panera very often so I'm not sure if they always provide this kind of service but it was a great experience! The food was great as well!
Panera is Panera, right? But today's breakfast was excellent in every way; fresh, hot food, fast, friendly service. A great way to start our day!
Nice Panera location in Thousand Oaks. The food was fresh, per other Panera locations. The service was great. I witnessed one employee take care of a couple in need of a to-go box and another employee getting rave reviews from a catering customer. Nice stop!

Everything tastes amazing and the service was the best I have ever had!!!! The pastries are the best!
The place is clean and service is fast! Can't complain about anything except the amount of meat they put on a sandwich!

I've been to Panera a number of times over the years and always enjoy their freshly made soups, salads, and breads but this particular location has always been my favorite. Their fully stocked bakery items are a visual panacea that draws you in and makes you want to forget that 'you don't eat gluten' and lures you to come closer if only just to inhale the aroma. I resist and order a bowl of creamy cheddar broccoli soup and a cup of blood orange lemonade of which I devoured every spoonful. Great casual place to have lunch with friends no matter what your eating habits are.
They have some really good food, and the workers are always nice. The dining room is a little cramped and just a bit too dim. It's a good place to go for a quick breakfast or lunch.
Food taste great, but prices went up, and the sizes went down. Looks like they are following the girl scouts model. Either put less cookies in the box each year and/or raise prices. Like unsaid the food taste great, on top of that the staff is friendly and helpful, but when I ordered 2 half sandwiches they were so tiny.
Easy to find. Nice atmosphere. Men's restroom doesn't smell like piss like other locations. That's a plus
The service was quick & here they serve the food at ur table. The place had a nice ambience to it. I love the soups here. Really good staff. We’ll visit this place again for sure.

Went here with my two kids and they split a grilled cheese sandwich. The food was good, and the staff was friendly, but the place was a mess. There were a lot of employees around, but they didn't seem to be interested in cleaning the dirty tables or tidying up the lobby. I haven't been to this location before, so maybe this was a one time thing, but it was super slow and no one was tidying up. I see the state of cleanliness of the lobby as a reflection on the state of cleanliness of the kitchen, and if that's the case, then it's not a good reflection on this place.

I've been to plenty of PB in different cities/states, and at this location, the bread shelves, desserts, and specialty teas are the lowest I've seen at any PB I've been to. Though some employees are wearing hats, all should still wear hair nets, especially for those whose hair is long hair. The carpet is really bad and needs to be removed, not replaced, but removed •hair nets •replenish of breads(food)/drinks
I made an online order and picked up. When I got home and unpacked my order I have a food item missing. I don't check in the restaurant because I would like to believe that they check and double check to make sure all items in an order are there. Called to let them know and to make sure to double check for future orders and nobody picks up the phone.
Decent staff; none of them were horrible but they seemed less kind and enthusiastic than the staff at our regular Panera in a different part of the county. The food was also okay - the sandwich was a bit lackluster, its bread soggy upon reaching our table, and did not come as I had specially ordered it at the cashier. Nonetheless, the mac n cheese was incredible. The restaurant itself is nice, bright and well-furnished. The selection of sodas offered is on the small side. Fine prices. The ''You Pick 2'' is a good value.
I am fan of chicken breast sandwichs. ordered the new chicken sandwich. B read was cold and felt like it's been setting in the kitchen for many hours. Just did not look, smell, or taste fresh. Chicken meet tastes was OK. Service was unfriendly.. and not welcoming ..
Foods great, reasonable cost, and friendly staff. They have a terrific rewards program. Also, you can order and pay online, and it's ready when you arrive. No waiting in line, just pick up your order from the shelf. 9/30: so update: looks like the are downsizing menu...very disappointing. Something about District Mgr saying the cant buy the soup anymore due to season...uhm onions to purchase arent seasonal. Not sure what's up with the salad. No more French onion soup and their strawberry, green salad is gone. Seems entire store like it is a bit run down since last visit only a bit ago.
Ordered passion fruit tea. Onion soup /French onion they bombed on that one. They t a ke the cheese and just dust/ sprinkle it on the soup. Definitely no awards here! Had them take it back & put more cheese on it.

Meh.. this is definitely the slowest Panera I have been to. The mobile orders are never done when promised. Even if the app says its ready, it never is. The workers are friendly, but seem to be very slow. I use the app because I don't want to wait in line, but every single time I have to wait in line because my order isn't ready, and they wait to gather items until I get to the register. The location in Westlake village and also Simi valley have the orders ready when you arrive, or when the app says so. Not sure why the Thousand Oaks location can't do that. The food is good, though.

this location has gone downhill in the last year. This used to be my go to breakfast spot until they removed real eggs from their menu. Croissants used to be flakey and buttery and now taste like wet cardboard.
The service at this location is so spotty. Prices of coffee there are charged differently each day! It’s unbelievable. Cashier can’t figure out my rewards. I just ordered an item an let her know I had a discount… she charged over the posted amount and said she didn’t see a reward discount. She then gave me the receipt which showed the reward I didn’t receive. Hazelnut coffee is almost never ready and the coffee area is consistently dirty. Getting ready to end my coffee subscription if they can’t get it together
I feel like this location always has a lot of staff working, but then it takes so long for your food to be ready. 30mins for a smoothie and a salad seems long to me. I also wouldn't recommend Panera if you have dietary restrictions...no good gf options, only salads you have to modify.
This is by far the most disgusting Panera bread that I have ever been to. As soon as I walked into the bathroom, it smelled of raw sewage. Most of the staff did not speak English and were some of the most unhelpful people at a Panera I have ever encountered

The sandwich was tasty. The atmosphere was a bunch of angry, hungry people waiting about 30 minutes for their lunches. Everyone was stand around complaining about the wait or going up to the counter to ask how much longer. I haven't been to Panera in many months. Last time the wait was appropriate. I really hope this was an isolated issue. 🫤
It's no wonder why they have such low scores. The sandwiches with chicken or ham come in bits and pieces like the scraps leftover from slicing, yet I've never seen a slice. It's been like this for years. I have complained. They give you a coupon, but that doesn't resolve the issue. The soups look and taste like they came from a can. The salads are mediocre. If they're going to put out low quality food, they shouldn't be charging what they charge. I feel bad for the staff. They look very unhappy. I can't remember when I last saw someone there give me a smile.
I really only go to panera for a drink and a bagel and to work on my laptop. I have been to a lot of different paneras. This particular one, for some reason, had the smallest bagels out of all the paneras I have been to. Usually the cream cheese given is just enough to put on the bottom half with just a tiny amount on the top half, but these bagels here, I was able to spread an equal amount on both top and bottom. Sort of feels like they are cutting corners a bit to maximize profits at this location. If you make all the bagels and other pastries that are made on site with just a little bit less dough, you can make more of these items with the same amount of ingredients. Just very disappointing to know that some stores do this sort of thing. Two stars because there are a couple of outlets in the location for me to plug in my laptop. I will avoid ordering any food from here in the future.

The heating pad under the souffle was off all morning. Unsafe for quality control. The morning person didn't bother to fix it, he just stayed on his phone. The other guy looked like he was applying for another job while he was working! Lol Ok, writing now from a few hours ago. 11:51am. Not feeling good. Not to get to descriptive...bathroom visit, no Bueno. Keep your food out of the temperature danger zone!
So I’m just checking to see if this is what we’re doing if we’re stealing from those who have spectacular differences much like your restaurant did. Like is that what we’re doing now because that’s what I hear we’re doing congratulations on being part of the problem and not part of the solution, my family will never eat Panera again
I was desperately hungry and didn't want fast food. I should have walked right out after entering. No air conditioning. Bread baskets empty. Employee walking around on her personal phone. Ordered one of their new chicken sandwiches. What a joke. Barely any meat, dressing, or care and almost $20 for a sandwich and fountain cup. Don't care how desperate I am in the future, this was Horrible.
Current management is going to kill this location. 5pm and they were already out of “bread” for their soups, although they had some still on the shelf. Would not substitute and gave us only options of chips or apple. Had to pay an additional $1.98 to finally get some bread for our soups. Ridiculous!
Mac and cheese and steak sandwich were cold. Probably were not properly warmed up which is a nt cheese
Tried to walk in and buy a drink after the gym. Walked up to the door and one of the ladies in there grabs the door so I can't open it and and screams "WERE CLOSED!!!!" and rolls her eyes at me. I've never had someone do that. Terrible way to treat customers I didn't even know it was closed.
Don’t order delivery from their website. The employees do not know how to manage it. I ordered online from their website for delivery and nothing was delivered. Panera charged on my credit, sent me an order confirmation; but I received no further notifications. After several calls to Panera, someone finally answered the phone and confirmed my order was cancelled because some were out of stock and told me Uber should have notified me. I said no, I didn’t order through Uber. I couldn’t get a confident response that I would be refunded. The person said did know how the system works and they would tell the manager, when they come in but could guarantee a response from the manager because she is busy with a catering job.
The three of us got into the store at 7:05 pm. We placed our order and was asked for here or to go, we said for here. We then got our drinks and sat down to wate for our dinner. In about 4or5 minutes our food was giving to us in a bag all set to go. We were then told that they closed in 10 minutes and to take the food and go. Well the 3 of us were very upset by this hole thing. We had just come from visiting with our son who has been in the Hospital for two weeks. We just wanted to sit and eat our dinner for a few minutes and then go home. Pretty sure that we are not going back to Panera.
This late morning I ordered a very toasted bagel (because bagels should be served hot) w/cream cheese. On payment request, the auto-tip appeared (BIG dislike) but I tipped $1.00, what I usually do for a morning beverage at a my local coffee shop. FYI the coffees were warm, not hot. The bagel cycled thru the toaster, plopped onto the tray, and sat there. The employee had vanished. Bagel waited 2 minutes. Employee reappeared, walked towards the toaster, and passed it. On the way back, he bagged it and perfunctorily handed it over. I sat down, applied cream cheese to the cold bagel, and began to "enjoy" it. The employee reappeared, walked towards me and declared "your card's declined". A few customers in the half-full full seating area looked towards who the deadbeat was. I was already annoyed, now more so, at this guy that would announce my skipping the check in such a public manner. I followed him, he redid the transaction and this time I did not tip. The card went thru as I knew it would and he gasped an "ohhh" in surprise. FYI this Panera does have a couple excellent employees. There is a tall young man with thick curly bushy hair who is always on top, personable and courteous. Unfortunately he wasn't there. And I will not be either.
Service is slow, food is sub par, overpriced and there are gnats flying around everywhere. HEALTH DEPARTMENT GO HERE PLEASE! this is all a sign of poor management and lack of caring
Awful experience here! They screwed up my order, I called to let them know. But, never answer the phone, after multiple attempt’s at work; I came in person after work, but only found the cleaning crew. the next morning I came back to correct it, the manager acted like it was my fault instead of being apologetic! I’ll never return to this establishment to get anything here again.
Horrible place, no one pays attention to you and they do not listen, i literally felt so uncomfortable here i wish i never spent my money here, place was so dirty today, they had dishes everywhere and no one was picking it up, even the birds outside started eating from the plate cause they never went to pick it up.. YUCK!!! There was so mnay people workinv and for what? No one did anything. Does the manager or boss of this company even read the comments? Because they have alot of negative comments and nothing seems to be resolved.
Panera, you must be aware of the worker who stole from the disabled person. What is wrong with you, that your company is doing NOTHING? YIKES. Not only will I never eat here, but am not going to eat at any Panera ever again.
This pace is in bad shape. Dirty floors. Broken chairs. "Wet floor" signs propped up again the wall for no reason. Burnt out light bulbs. Men's restroom was a mess; urinal out of order and door to the stalls broken, lights burnt out. Dirty dishes sitting on counter tops. The staff was polite, but the place itself is in terrible need of some TLC.

I honestly hate leaving reviews like this, but this Panera Bread in the Janss Marketplace really needs some attention. I’ve been here a few times hoping things would improve, but it just keeps getting worse. First thing you notice when you walk in is how dirty everything feels. The floors had trash and food scraps all over. Tables were sticky and left uncleaned for way too long. It just makes you wonder if anyone is actually checking on the dining area. What really bothered me was all the little gnats flying around everywhere. They were by the soda machine, in the bathroom, and even hovering around the tables. It’s pretty gross to see bugs circling over pastries and cups and just floating around while you’re trying to eat. The service was so slow it felt like nobody was in any hurry to help customers. There weren’t many people in line, but it still took about 20 minutes to get my food. When it finally came out, it looked carelessly thrown together. The bathroom was honestly awful. It smelled terrible, like old sewage. There was toilet paper all over the floor and the sink area was a mess. The soap dispenser was leaking everywhere. It was the kind of bathroom you just try to get in and out of as fast as you can. It’s sad because Panera is supposed to be a comfortable place to grab lunch or coffee, but this location feels completely neglected. It almost feels disrespectful to the customers that nobody seems to care how bad it has gotten. I really hope the company steps in and does something because it shouldn’t be this hard to keep a restaurant clean and welcoming. Until then, I’d recommend going somewhere else.
First of all the place isn't clean. We usually love Panera, but this location in Moorpark is dirty, the service is usually poor and out of the 4 times we've been here, they have been out of baguettes 3 times (??) Today... they were out of chips(???) We always discuss whether or not we should stop at this location- but the next is about an hour away....we should have waited. I asked for a mug for my hot tea and as he gave it to me he was wiping something off, but gave it to me anyway (!!!) He was already annoyed because I asked for a couple of changes to the salad I was ordering, so I took the cup with the intention of washing it with the hot water for tea. Guess what - it was lukewarm. I had to microwave my water. There were gnats flying around our food. My husband's food was good but hard to enjoy because the place is so dirty. My salad wasn't great and the baguettes tasted off.
Manager Christiana is rude and unprofessional and the restaurant is nasty. I was told by an employee they never clean and there are roaches.
I ordered online a dozen variety bagels, i gave it some more time because this location is never on time. When i arrived, guess what? My order wasn’t ready as usual and they were waiting for me to arrive and cancel the order because the flavors I requested were not available (this was at 10 am, i was like for reals?) All they kept telling me was to cancel the order, i had to ask what flavors were available, they told me what they had and again they kept repeating me to cancel it. I asked if i can get another whatever flavor they had (i asked they didn’t offered me that option) they agreed and made me wait and i ordered them sliced in half and they couldn’t even do that either. I work in customer service and i know ppl can be aggressive about a wrong order, i tried to take it easy but the attitude I received from them that they didn’t had any flavor that was on the app (false advertising) only about 3 flavors and that they couldn’t even sliced them like i asked on the app that made write this review and the cherry on top of the cake was when i asked about where the cream cheese spread i ordered too the associate said :you didn’t ordered any cheese and they ended up checking the receipt again and gave it to me. I was like: I already paid for this on the app, why would I steal a cup of cream cheese? All I know is that i am never coming back to this horrible location i started the day the wrong way because of this people. If you reading this please avoid this place. Thanks!!
I visited the Panera in Thousand Oaks this morning, and unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience. The customer service was poor, and the associates were extremely unfriendly. Nicole, the manager, along with another young associate, refused to sell me pastries in the catering box. I needed several pastries for a breakfast I was hosting, and they already had them ready to go. However, Nicole insisted she couldn’t accommodate my request. It was incredibly frustrating, especially since I was on a tight schedule. Now, I’m having to drive to another breakfast place to get what I needed—something that could have easily been handled with a little more effort and customer service.
We visited Panera in Janss market today and my husband found 2 gnats in his salad, needless to say, it killed his appetite. After reading the other reviews, I can see this is a common issue. Where is the management?
I'll NEVER eat here again. Picked up a sandwich and soup for lunch. I paid $25 for a sandwich that was mostly bread ($15) and cup of soup ($10) I don't mind paying for good food, but when you drop $25 on lunch, you'd expect a little bit more than what they delivered. NEVER AGAIN
