Side Street Cafe is a lovely hidden gem. Well, maybe it's not so hidden - it always seems bustling, but never crowded. The food is standard diner fare, satisfying and enjoyable. The coffee is passable, but it's served in the most random mugs, which I absolutely love. The service is quick, friendly, but nothing that makes a lasting impression, generally. You'll get in, get a solid meal, and get going. No need to complicate things.
I've been coming here since they opened. And I moved out of Cali in 2013 - I've lived in 3 other states since then and eaten in many more. I've tried eggs Benedict at 1,000's of restaurants in my 12 years away and NO ONE can compete!!! Absolutely hands down the best eggs Bennie I've ever had!!! I love that it remains unchanged and everything is still pure perfection. I ordered a half order and I'm stuffed!!
I’ve been eating at side street for 15+ years. I’ve had multiple things from both the breakfast and lunch menu. You really can’t go wrong with other anything. The pancakes and waffles are delicious. The biscuits and gravy are a classic and the scrambles are yummy. The sandwiches on the lunch menu are delicious and they have a really good a variety of hot and cold. The portions are very generous and I always leave full. I took my husband here for his first time, and while he got a very classic and simple sandwich- he LOVED it. I got the French dip on garlic toast (getting it on the garlic toast was a little trick I learned from eating there so many times and being close with the people who work there) with sweet potato fries. My mom got the classic breakfast and my husband got the ham and cheese sandwich. We devoured everything and will continue to come back regularly as I’ve always done.
I discovered this place earlier this year, and it is now my FAVORITE breakfast place in the area. I always get the bacon waffle plate (has eggs and breakfast meat of your choice) I know of no other place around that makes bacon waffles (or bacon pancakes) even if asked to make them special. Another good choice is the pecan waffle 🧇 😋 Often crowded, so parking can be hard to find, but I've never had to wait to get seated. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. I've seen several dog owners bring their dogs for outside dining. They do open early and close early as well, so you have to catch them before they close at 2pm. Lunch items also available. Slightly expensive, but worth it for an occasional splurge (IMHO)
This is a hidden gem ♥️ It’s a very cute and cozy breakfast place. Has a huge seating area and has outdoor seating too. Perfect for ideal Sunday morning breakfast. Food was delicious! It felt more home made than hotel made. The service was quick and staff were friendly. Going to visit here more often:))
Solid breakfast spot. Friendly service, good food and nice atmosphere. Definitely come back here again when I’m the area. The best Eggs Benedict.
Always a great place to eat! Really REALLY enjoyed the Chipotle Chicken Sandwich special today. Great portions. Fresh food. Served hot. Friendly service.
The Side Street Cafe He's a little hidden jewel located in the industrial center of Newbury Park. The prices is in this day and age is still reasonable. I had a hamburger, patty and eggs and it was only 10.99. what a great deal! The servers and bus boys are very nice and friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this place.
Was in the area for business and stumbled upon this small cafe. The interior is diner type but very cozy and welcoming. The service was great and fast, lots of options for Benedict lovers. Will definitely be back for more next time

Tucked away in an industrial park sits this quaint eatery offering breakfast and lunch. Food has a certain nostalgic, homely feel to it, and the overall restaurant atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Unsuspecting for sure, but kudos to the owners for keeping it up over the years.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Side Street Cafe isn’t just a place to eat—it’s a place to belong. From the moment you walk in, you feel the love of a true family-owned business. The atmosphere is warm, inviting, and full of genuine kindness. The family that owns and runs this establishment is simply amazing, and their care shines through in every detail. Supporting them doesn’t just feel like supporting a restaurant—it feels like supporting a dream, a legacy, and a part of the community that we’ll stand by for eternity. Nothing but love from us. — The Juceam Family ❤️
Awesome find for breakfast and probably lunch too. Great staff and warm homey feeling really makes you feel welcome. The food was really tasty and the portions huge!
The place is a quaint, off-the-beaten-path place to grab breakfast or lunch. I've been there a handful of times. They do have some regulars who are known by name. The food has always been delicious and plentiful. I've never had a server who wasn't smiling and friendly. I get the feeling they enjoy working there.
I've been here maybe 8 to 12 times. It's been great every time. They have my tropical tea which is how I choose a restaurant. It has the feeling of being in Hawaii somehow. Be sure to check the specials board. I made the mistake.Of not doing that and missed out on chicken fried steak with sausage gravy (absolute favorite splurge!) the last time I was in. I typically have enough left over for two more breakfasts at home.
Everyone was so friendly! The food was delicious!! And I regret that I didn't get our servers name, she was amazing!!!
Great for casual but very friendly atmosphere. EVERYTHING is delicious, with large servings! Always leftovers to take home. Perfect for all ages. Family friendly. Pets allowed on patio. HIDDEN GEM!!!
Shelby at Side St. Café was fantastic. The food was excellent, and the variety of Benedict options is impressive. I enjoyed the Sidecar Omelette, but what truly elevated the experience was Shelby’s warm, attentive, and professional service. Great meal, great atmosphere, and outstanding hospitality, looking forward to coming back.

This place is legit. They open the restaurant a little bit early for our large party. Gave us a private area. Food was amazing. Service was incredible. Coffee was spectacular. Super friendly. Very courteous. Very attentive. Little hideaway spot in industrial complex. Fantastic all around!
2nd time here. we came back with the same people, ate outside, and really enjoyed the time together. We had multiple servers and tried (4) different breakfasts. All good, are hearty portions, all served quickly. I recommend you come for the first time and return over and over again.
👍 thumbs up. Good portion size. Good seating arrangement. Good for family.

This is a quiet little cafe in an industrial park. Parking was an issue even at 830am on a Friday morning. It didn't seem that busy though. I sat on the patio with my dogs. Food was excellent. Some of the best eggs benedcits I have had, but unfortunately that is where it ended. Waiter was so abrupt he merged on rude. I got a mug of coffee initially but was never offered refills. I had to flag staff down to ask for things. If service were improved, it would have been a nice, quiet breakfast on a quaint little patio. As good as the food was, I don't think I would come back due to the service. He didn't even come to check about my payment. Thankfully I had cash on me so I didn't have to go inside and figure out what to do with the dogs while I tried to find someone to pay.

“BORING“ Typical american fare. Unseasond but palatable the kind of food you would be proud of if your kids made you breakfast at home. Leaving a lot of room for growth in the flavor department. Average pricing for food easy parking and not a lot of options in this area

We called and asked if dogs were allowed, and they said yes — well-behaved dogs are allowed. Our one small dog was very gentle and quiet, so we drove 20 minutes in three cars. After waiting in line for 15 minutes, the owner came out and said we couldn’t dine in. When we explained we had confirmed by phone, he replied: “I am the owner and I am telling you that you can’t.” No apology for wasting eight people’s time and gas. Really disappointing communication and attitude.
