If you're hungry, very very hungry, craving food because you've been starving yourself for a couple days, go here. Only then will you be able to finish a single dish without your stomach complaining. And that is absolutely great. No matter which meal you prefer (and I love all kinds of breakfast foods), you'll get such a giant amount of it in a single dish, you are guaranteed to satisfy whatever craving you may have had. And their food has the tastiness to match the serving sizes. Fantastic eggs benedict, pancakes so fluffy you want to fall asleep on them, bacon so savory and thick. Their menu offers something for everyone, and their waiters are brilliantly friendly and welcoming. Make sure to book a table when you plan on a bigger group, as there are usually lines at almost any point of the day.

Love this place and the staff! They all make you feel like family because they remember you and know your order by heart, it's an old school feel type of customer service that's just lost today. Mama bear never forgets to greet us no matter how busy she is and the food is just marvelous! Great portions, delicious and so filling. We have become regulars here and don't mind spending our money here because its like home! Don't sleep on Black Bear Diner!!

We just moved to the area about 5 months ago and have been wanting to come here ever since. Finally we made it happen and we were not disappointed! Lovely service, great food and fun, old-school interior. We went for breakfast and boy did we leave full! Big plates, yummy food. My choice was "A little less" ham and cheese omelet with hash browns and biscuit with coffee and fresh pressed orange juice. My husband had pancakes, 2 eggs and bacon both meals simply delicious ❤ We will most definitely come back and try out their lunch and dinner menus too.❤

Our favorite place for a warm family meal! The staff are all so friendly and we love being greeted by Momma Bears warm smile and charm. We have family that visit from around the world and they continually want to go back to Black Bear every time they visit. The coffee is fantastic and meals delicious and generous sizes. Rosa and Janettee (aka Mother Bear) were both amazing! They were so welcoming, attentive, and made us feel right at home. You can really tell they care about their guests. As usual, food was excellent, and the service was great (attentive,listened to special requests). It appeared to be a slow night, not to many people there. In the past this place was quite busy and you had to wait to be seated. My sons' have loved Black Bear Diner since they were young, now as young men the Diner did not disappoint.

Claudia was my waitress and she did a great job. She asked me how everything was several times to make sure that everything was fine with the food and service.

The atmosphere was very welcoming and the ambiance was very appealing to say the least.

This was my first time at this Black Bear Diner location and it definitely did not disappoint! Everyone is very welcoming and friendly as soon as you walk in the door. Our waitress was very courteous and quick to take our order and check in on us to make sure we were doing well. I had the classic two egg combo with their smoked bacon, which was amazingly good. The portions are large so come with a big appetite! The ambience is charming with the Black Bear theme throughout and a cool joke box playing tunes. I will be back again the next time I visit my sister.

This restraunt takes me back to my childhood when I would be on vacation with my grandparents. The servings are huge and it has that wilderness vibe. Reminds me of being in mountain towns like Big Bear or Mammoth. Food is great and I will be back to try other dishes. Staff is freindly, courteous and efficient.

Great food, great prices, we went as a group of 20 and the server who took our orders was very professional and friendly. For someone serving 20 people she did a really great job. Her name was Faith. We left he a good tip for her good service. Also didn't break my pockets. This place serves great food, good portions, for a great price! And it's a really cool spot I like all their bear statues and the chairs at the very are really cool.

First and foremost the customer service was excellent the moment we entered the restaurant. George greeted us as we entered and sat us immediately. Even before we sat, he asked us what we wanted to drink. What a concept!!! All restaurants should do that. George was attentive and accommodating throughout our dining experience. 5 stars to George!!! He was the first superstar. The second superstar is Mama Bear. 5 stars to her as well. She was attentive to us and had a wonderful, personable attitude. Both are exemplary in what they do and how provide service to the customers. I've been coming to the Black Bear diner since it opened in Torrance. I was obsessed with the fiesta scramble and that was my go-to breakfast dish anytime of day. Unfortunately with the menu update from covid I am sorely disappointed because they removed the fiesta scramble and it was the only thing I liked the most. Bring back the Fiesta scramble please 🥺

Great friendly service. The food was awesome. Huge portions, of course the have the option of smaller portions on the menu called "a little less". Loved it and I recommend it because I will visit again. Prices are not bad either for the portion size you get.

Black Bear Diner in Torrance is a delicious experience! The atmosphere plays a vital role you can hear the chit chatter of others but doesn’t interrupt your conversation as there’s sufficient space and there is no overheard music in the morning drowning out your words. Been coming here for years and my family and I love it! So much food! be wary as everything is served in big portions so its awesome to share. We recommend you getting different plates and sharing it. Come here early on the weekends as its gets pretty busy now. There's usually a good amount of parking available in the back but sometimes I've had to park in the street. We were greeted and sat immediately. The manager I suppose or Big Mama Bear as she called her self came by and made us feel right at home, thank you! We usually always get the big foot country fried steak with pancakes! SO good, by far our favorite dish here. The orange juice is fresh so be sure to try that as well. We have good times here and enjoy coming here.

I dont think I've had anything there i didn't care for except maybe the corn muffin. Tasted amazing but was obviously microwaved to heat and it was hard and not really edible by the time I ate it. I do love their full muffins but I think I would have preferred if they asked me if I wanted it reheated. Won't be ordering that muffin again.

If you’re looking for a place that is going to take you for a blast in the past, this is a place for you. The aesthetic is actually very woodsy. They have a mascot, it’s a black bear. They have a little corner where they sell all these cute black teddy bears in different styles. It’s actually adorable and some other little things. The food it’s filling and heavy. The flavor is on point if you’re looking for diner food, which is American. I felt like I traveled back in time. It reminded me of diners I had visited as a child. Another thing I like is that they source their coffee from Nicaragua and in turn they donate to that country to help build schools and other things it’s really cool. They give you a newspaper which actually is the menu and there they show you some of the philanthropy that they do. It’s a family type of place so anyone could go there.

8 months ago I was in Arizona and stopped and ate at a Black Bear Dinner in Bullhead. I believe I did a review, anyway when I saw that they were here had to go. The first thing I noticed was the difference in the setup. Bears everywhere. And you can purchase the different types of Black Bear items. Now the food... I ordered the meatloaf, green beans, and mashed potatoes with gravy. Let me tell you about the green beans. So full of flavor I was mad that the bowl was small! Yes. It's that good if you like little chucks of bacon and onions. The meatloaf was average, not bad could've put vegetables or more seasoning. The mashed potatoes were good. So glad they are close because I will be back for breakfast 😋

Wow! This is one of my new to go diner places in South Bay area now! The foods are very tasty and the staffs there are super friendly. The portions are generous, and the price is very reasonable. This place feels like an old school diner vibe with many bears décor. I do feel like going to a family-owned restaurant and love the atmosphere there. Quick tips: This place is always packed during Sat/Sun lunch hour. You should go there very early in the morning and later in the afternoon if you do not want a long wait in line. Food does take some time to prepare and get ready to serve.

Really cool diner that has some delicious meals. The burgers are made to specification and they gave all the vreakfast needs possible. I really like this place. I took a Star away because it wasn't the greatest burger I've had and a little smaller than I'd hope. But that's a small factor for 5his really wonderful diner with great staff.

One more thing, I'm not sure if it's the norm for a trashcan to be left out where you can see it from the dining area but we had a full one in full view throughout our eating experienc. Again, it didn't really faze me but it might bother someone else which is why I mention it. AGAIN, THE FOOD WAS TERRIFIC!! Everything else is just little side items that can be easily remedied. Not satisfied with my waitress. Got seated and waited for someone/anyone to acknowledge me and my wife. After about 5min of patiently waiting I had to ask a waitress passing by. Not a great first time experience. Fortunately, the available waitress was kind, pleasant and very helpful. Food was abundant and above all delicious. Staff does seem overwhelmed.

You won't go home hungry. This is food that tastes good and is served in very generous portions. It will not make the top ten restaurants in America, to be sure, but of its type it will not disappoint you. We stopped for breakfast here on Thanksgiving morning and it was doing good business, but we were seated immediately. The theme is bears, bears on the tables, the walls, the counters. Wood, trees: americana. The menu is huge, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We had eggs, bacon, potatoes, and toast. To say it was served quickly would be an understatement. They were expecting us. I had over easy and home fries. Very good, eggs were over easy-no small compliment. Nancy had scrambled and the country potatoes which were exceptionally good, with a nice (if unexpected) heat to them. The coffee was good as well. We saw same waffles go by, and I have to say I will try them the next time. They were the size of a Range Rover hub cap and looked great. The server was prompt and attentive. All in all, a fine experience. If my choice was between Black Bear and say Dennys or IHOP, I am going to go with the Black Bear.

Update (3/2/2024): Went for dinner and had another good experience. Staff still friendly and attentive and overall food was a little better. This isn't fine dining...but you aren't paying fine dining prices...and still getting good quality, good-tasting food. They are staying on the list of diners we will visit again in the future. This place feels exactly as you would expect your local diner to feel....friendly staff who seemed to know the regular customers and what they liked to order...that sort of feel. The bear motif throughout is fun and although there are a lot of bears...it doesn't seem like too much. Host and servers were super friendly and knowledgeable. Most of the food was pretty good, but there were a couple of misses (had biscuits with the lunch order and they seemed like they were probably left over from breakfast and were a little stale and the bread pudding was hot on the outside but ice cold on the inside. Having said that, we will definitely be back and give them another shot. The manager was high-fiving the crew and they seemed to have a great team atmosphere, so I think it's likely the next visit will be better.

We enjoyed brunch here at the Black Bear Diner in Torrance. We were seated within two minutes of our arrival. The service was friendly and okay. The atmosphere was nice! The decor has a log cabin/ great outdoor vibes to it. Our favorite part was the food. The food was great and the portions were more than enough. Coffee refills were nice but I had to call over the waitress on two occasions so I could ask for it. Overall, we like the Black Bear Diner and would eat here again.

Black Bear Diner is a chain originally from Mount Shasta up in Northern California and currently has a number of locations around LA and Riverside. I would say it’s like an upscale Denny’s in that there will be fast food and fair prices but quality will not be as good as some smaller local places. They have a giant menu that is filled with all sorts of breakfast classics and the portion sizes are very large. This location has a large free parking lot attached otherwise street parking is also easy to find. We had to wait about 15 minutes for our table our Saturday brunch, but it was quite busy when we arrived. I chose the California Bacon Benedict, which has avocado, thick cut bacon, tomato, and spinach on a traditional English muffin. I will say the eggs were done well and overall, it was very good although I would probably suggest skipping the spinach. We also ordered a waffle for the side and it was very good, but it was quite dense. I wish it was a little bit fluffier. Overall I think it’s fair to say Black Bear is a solid four out of five but I would dine here again when in the area.

Amazing service! Most dishes will be familiar with a few Black Bear twist sprinkled throughout the menu. It is amusing for adults and fun for kids. This certainly is a family oriented restaurant. If you are looking for a hardy breakfast with strong, all-one-can-drink coffee, this is the place. There was ample parking and no waiting on a Sunday morning when we arrived.

Idk how to rate honestly because our waiter only came to our table when he was giving us our food, but he would go to other tables alot ... it took us 55min to get our actual food, and 15 min to get our to go boxes and our check. Like most Black Bear diners, this location still offers great food at affordable prices! A homey feel with caring servers, this is no different than most locations. The only complaint is there a distinct odor permeating the place. I don’t know what it is but it can be distracting at first. You do get used to it but the initial hit can be distracting. Otherwise, great food. Great service. And it’s in Torrance, the cleanest city this side of California!

I Only have only eaten at black bear diner in Arizona...But for today it's in Torrance... food was pretty good (but can u really screw up breakfast?Hope..not) but I had the sweet waffle with thick..cuz bacon...i really liked the waffle it had such a sweet, vanilla flavor to it. .was hoping the waffle was a little bigger cuz it is on the smaller side in comparison to other restaurants, Bacon was bacon. It was good. Service was all right. Plan on going there again and maybe try some dinner. Really want to try their fried chicken steak. Only downside which is not even the restaurants fault but having to park further down with a broken leg and crush myself through the parking lot and people parking in handicap spots that aren't even handicapped. Just want to park and take up spaces. That's the only complaint I have

Quit a few choices on the menu, but poorly executed. Food was prepped without any care. Was served lukewarm by an uncaring staff. It wasn’t that busy when we came (1:30 pm Christmas Eve), but the food was delayed somehow, and the cheese on the pot roast melt was not melted. Had get up and ask for my coffee refill since the staff did not return. Service is 2 stars. The waitress tried to blame me for her misunderstanding my order. Decent atmosphere with lots of bear carvings and photos, and comfortable seating.

Really adorable concept and had such high hopes because I've seen this place often driving between California and Washington. However, what I learned is, don't order a prime rib dinner from a diner. Only from a steak house. The price was discounted, but the meat was tough, overcooked, tasteless and not worth it. Cute decor and nice waiter, but once was enough.

Wait time on a Wednesday night; about 45 minutes with 2 servers, 2 cooks on staff and about 4-5 tables of patrons. Staff is busy enough with unexpected tables on a night time mid week. Flavor is a bit lacking, while it looks like it should take a stance on either high quality or flavor profiles that stand tall like bears but alas it does not. The sausages were ok, the eggs tasted like eggs and the biscuit/gravy combo while being gummy and filling; not quite memorable or pronounced. If your going for carbs here; you'll find em'. Overall: Sadly it's middle of road food; not quite large portions, nor quite flavorful, nor quite inexpensive to fit in a category. Not exactly for kids even with the ambiance and bear themes abound with a vast menu, even for a chain; it's a bit lost in the woods it seems. I've been to another locations a few hours away and was less impressed there. I had high hopes for the breakfast but umm...still can't find a good reason to re-visit.

Food is as expected. Service was surprisingly bad. Here is a gest of what happened. So we ordered some wine, and the wine was too sour (expired), which is not ok giving your customers food poisoning for keeping a wine open for months, but I get it. It happens. I asked for the waiter and told her that the wine is expired so she took two full glasses of wine and left. I explained, since you guys weren't careful of how long the wine can stay open I'm not comfortable ordering any thank you. She went and came back saying sorry the management said that they can't take it off the bill because wine sales are final. ( as if, other food items are not and one can ask for refund 😅) mishaps happen and that's ok, but if you are not willing to take off expired item served to your customers. I don't trust what you are willing to use as ingredients. I hope you guys get a better manager who is not willing to provide expired food and not willing to take it out of the bill when they are called on it 🤭. Cheers

We ordered New York steak and we regretted going to that restaurant. The worst steak we had ever have. Even steaks at Dennys are so delicious than this. We will not be eating here ever again

Sunday night service is bad. They didn't have chicken for the chicken and waffles so they gave me chicken strips. French toast was only cooked on one side and you get crayons with your regular coffee creamer since they don't have flavored creamer. I should have taken a hint from the people that were waiting to be seated in front of me and walked out because they were taking too long to sit people.

My husband and I ordered the all you can eat fish fry. We told the server no lemon on either plate as there is a lemon allergy and my husband is deathly allergic. When our meals were brought to us both of them had lemon on the plates we sent the plate back and I watched ad the lemon was taken off of his plate handed to the cook at that point we said forget it and left in fear they were going to just replate the food.

Went in the other day you could easily tell the mash potatoes were either sitting all day or they barley put the powder and mixed it before they gave it to us cuz it was extremely running and just plain disgusting sucks because I loved coming here now I'm going to make sure I never spend a dollar at this restaurant.

Do not order anything custom such as fr3nch fries well done or.. well.. anything. They will not do it. Im watching one aerver texting instead of doing his job AND the other one keeps pulling the window shade up... sunlight reflecting right off the cars outside into my eyes.. even after i put it back down. They ran out of Ranch dressing (umm what?!) And it took my daughters kids meal a long time. Sad. Only takes about 6 mins to cook. Rude and lazy staff that dont pay attention. Not even worth it!
