A Beautiful place for light fare anytime. (I was there last Sunday for my birthday brunch.) The atmosphere IS Beautiful, food and service to match. All with reasonable prices. I’ve been there multiple times, and it was Consistently as good as I’d expected. Treat yourself🤗

Super fun experience. Tea party's aren't just for little girls. All ages can enjoy! They have tea pots, tea cups, and more displayed around the tea room. You are paying for the experience not really the food. drinks are delicious, as tea should be.

Great place for baby or bridal showers. Very attentive and friendly staff. Fun atmosphere for taking pixs. They serve food for lunch but the tea service is very nice if you just want tea and don't want to eat.

I love this place. My family brought me to Chado in Pasadena for my birthday, but I was so happy to know that there was another location here in Torrance! The food and tea are wonderful, but the personalized service is great. My daughter wanted to take her bestie to have tea on a busy Saturday where there were a lot of reservations. They accommodated my request to have the girls sit at their own table (with me at the table next to them). They even brought over hats they could wear for pictures I was taking. Come here for the tea and the beautiful room, but enjoy the experience!

Love this tea house. It’s tea cup array and products are so cute, ranging from fancy to fun. The afternoon tea celebration is my favorite- sandwiches and scone are superb. Keep up the awesome service! Margie

We had my daughter's bridal shower here. Alice and wonderland theme. It was everything. Very dainty, very cute. My daughter told me she felt like a princess. The staff was very accommodating. You can't go wrong with tea and crumpets 💜

We love Chado Tea room. They have the best selection of teas. Their tea service is great and reasonably priced. They make the best grilled chicken panini and their tomato basil soup is fantastic. They also have excellent scones.

What a great experience. I wish I lived closer, I would be a regular here. A lovely large space, with a pretty fountain as a centerpiece. Incredible tea selections, but the surprise for me was the menu. Besides the classic tea room standards of dainty sandwiches, scones & jam etc. at a very reasonable price they offer a variety of sandwiches, salads and a Chicken Tikka Masala plate that rivaled any I've had elsewhere. And an appropriate tea to pair with it. I chose a scone with clotted cream and jam for dessert. They also have some great & unusual gift-ables besides the teas they sell. Unique tea pots, cups & saucers, hats for a real tea party - a nice variety. It's a real discovery and I can't wait to go back. Servers were very happy to answer questions & make recommendations - and they don't rush you.

It was fabulous! Great food and great tea. Very roomy. Smells wonderful. Decor is very welcoming. Their wall of tea is amazing. Their wall of teapot (for sale) is fantastic. Their wall of teacups (first sale) is also remarkable. The staff and service was extremely exceptional. Parking is a little limited because there are so many great places all around that area. Highly recommended.

We have been to several tea rooms in the area, but the Chado Tea Room ranks as the best one. The teas are excellent and the finger sandwiches and delectable desserts served with those teas are equally as excellent. The service is extremely professional. The servers are personable and knowledgeable. We will visit again. Hope to see you there.

Went for a friend's milestone birthday lunch tea party. They had a section reserved for about 12 of us in the back. Scones, sandwiches and macaroon & small cookie were all tasty. Service was attentive. Had 3 different teas--loved the peach tea with the flower that blossomed in a clear teapot.

I absolutely loved my full tea service here today! The sandwiches were so flavorful, the starter salad had a good mix of dark greens, the macaroons were perfect, and I could not help but eat the entire scone 😅 It has a lovely calm atmosphere with gentle piano music playing overhead and the sound of the fountain running. 10/10 will definitely come back!

There is literally no other place like chado. It is a one a kind experience and place to go for a date night. The service is always excellent and the food and tea are great. The ambiance is a perfect setting for enjoying your tea and company. I 100% recommend chado!!

B

amazing service, the staff was perfectly attentive. we made a reservation for 1pm but got there 30 minutes early, and they seated us anyway. Definitely the best prices for afternoon tea service in the area. For two, it was around $75, which sounds expensive but is actually fair for what you get. Amazing tea selection, I recommend the "birthday tea".

Tea Tasting Good Experience My adult daughters and I went to Chado Tea in Torrance, CA, for their Afternoon Tea with tea tasting, finger sandwiches, and dessert. The price is very reasonable (for the Afternoon Tea Service), but the finger sandwiches were just so-so. The scone, on the other hand, was amazing. It's a fun place to go with friends and family to have the tea tasting service experience.

I love this place, my grandmother took me a few years back and the menu hasn't changed much. The food is better than I remember, I took my boyfriend here for tea and he loved it. We did the special (not the celebration one) and thoroughly enjoyed all the half sandwiches. The servers were great and the energy inside was wonderful for a tea date. Definitely returning later for more!

Great place for brunch, lunch, afternoon snack...and parties!!! Baby shower, bridal shower, birthday party or any get together. Interior is charming, so you don't even need to do a whole lot. However, if you choose to do your own decorations they're very helpful, understanding, tentative, accommodating and professional. Their food never disappoints either! The afternoon tea service set is elegant and fancy...of course, super yummy too!! We had our daughter's 1st birthday party here and we couldn't have picked a better venue for the Beauty and the Beast themed tea party. Kid's birthday parties tend to be chaotic and fun but the staff minimized the chaos and saved our day for sure! Our guests commented how much they enjoyed the food and were impressed with how pleasant their staff catered to us. Chado is a hidden gem and we absolutely love it!!!

I had my baby shower there. When I got there, the tables were ready. The service was great and the staff was very hospitable. My party enjoyed the food and the staff was attentive with refilling water and tea. I would definitely recommend this place to have a gathering ..easy to reserve, parking was easy, and staff was great. It was such a hassle free and fun day.

Our family found this place while randomly exploring in Torrance on a cold Sunday afternoon in December. It is a big open space with a fun ambiance and decor. The food and tea was excellent as well as the service. The scones had to be fresh from the oven given that they were warm throughout and crisp on the outside. We were even able to pick Christmas presents for family as well in the form of daily tea samplers. Planning to visit again soon.

This place is a charming, and surprisingly spacious piece of Heaven, for tea lovers and anyone who can appreciate vast selection. The staff were kind and accommodating, and the teas that I tried were tasty, therapeutically aromatic, and indeed, heavenly! Excellent venue for private events or just passing by for a pleasant break.

Came here on a Tuesday at about noon and it's not busy at all. Very relaxing, friendly staff, and the food and tea are actually good! I ordered the chicken Tikka panini and it's delicious! A pretty good portion, not huge, but filling for me anyway. The tea was yummy, and I had a plain scone which smelled and tasted so good. Great experience and I hope to come back soon 😊

This is a very quiet decent place to sit in. The people that work there are super nice and friendly. This is a place where me and my best friend meet at most of the time. The afternoon service is the best and I wont be able to describe how great the teas are. This place is one of a kind ❤️

This tea room is such a hidden gem. They have an extensive tea menu, with some of the most unique blends I’ve tasted. I had the afternoon tea set, which came with a variety of delicious finger sandwiches and scones. The ambiance is so relaxing, and the staff is always very attentive. It’s a great spot to unwind or catch up with friends

Attentive service outdoors (during Covid) with a fantastic afternoon tea menu. The finger sandwiches weren't very finger-sized at all! They were bigger, which filled you up, especially after having the lovely scone with cream. Didn't have room for the madeleine and macaroon desserts!

We had a lovely time celebrating our aunt's birthday here. Everything was delicious and plentiful. Staff were very attentive. This is larger than their other locations so it works well for large parties.

I'm more of a Tacos and Beer kind of guy, so when my Lady told to pass the Cantina across the street to go to a "tea room" I was a bit reluctant. However we had a delightful lunch at this place and I was thankful she insisted we go here. Food was great, and the service was perfect. I wouldn't hesitate to return and in fact look forward to it.

Walking into the room, I felt an air of nostalgia. It was cozy and reminded me of my childhood. Customer service was nice. The cucumber sandwiches and macaroons are delicious. The chai tea had a hint of cinnamon and tasted wonderful. Thank you, Chado Tea Room, for a great dining experience!

I walked in without a reservation and they were still able to seat a party of 2 right away on a Saturday. Their tea selection is top notch, the food os delicious and all very fresh. If you order the scones, eat them forst since they come to the table hot from the oven.

B

A quaint place full of lovely tea cups that can be purchased. You are able to schedule a small or medium size party from 6 to 25 people for a wonderful lunch or momentous occasion. I happened to be there for a Bridal Shower and we had a great time. Service was a bit slow, but they made up for it by not pushing us past our allotted time. Great sandwiches and so many varieties of tea.

The Torrance Chado Tea Room is a great spot for tea lovers in the best part of Torrance. I love the downtown area. The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is calm, and the tea selection is huge. The food is fresh and tasty, especially the sandwiches and soup. It’s a nice place to have a special event or just catch up with friends. I also love browsing their tea items and picking out tea to take home.

This is now my go to place when I have my mommy and son dates. I was so worried that this was maybe not the best place to eat with my son, but all the staff there welcomed us. I was so hungry after our mommy and me class and I had been wanting to try it so we popped in. I was very under dressed, but again, the staff was so nice about it. Not only were they friendly, they came by the table often just to talk to him. He can't talk yet, but he smiled everytime they came. The food and tea were amazing. I tried the Mediterranean salad, the tomato soup, blueberry scone, and Irish tea. My son and I both loved every bite. I highly recommend it here, and plan to come back soon ❤ 💙

I held an event on a very very busy day at this location. I had several people show up who had not RSVPed. My total headcount kept changing the first 40 minutes of my event. I really enjoyed my visit, they really took care of my dietary restrictions (gluten free and non dairy), tea was very good and those tea infused chocolates were delicious!! Both my boyfriend and I liked this place a lot.

They're serious about tea. It doesn't really feel oriental or European. They established their own unique Chado vibes, and I liked it much. It's still arguable, but to me, this place doesn't fall under those fancy and "instagrammable" categories. It's more like visiting your long forgotten cousins who happened to be expert in tea. Very comfortable and friendly. Amazing tea followed by sweet delights.

Searching for afternoon tea for two or more... Search no more, here is the perfect spot for catching up with the girls or celebrating your special day (Birthday, baby shower, bridal shower...etc.). Orlando is the man! He is extremely friendly and knows the tea menu (which is literally 100 pages) inside out. Not to be a stalker, but we loved visiting him at the other location near little Toyko but are thrilled at the closer location now in Old Torrance. If you're feeling overwhelmed with all of the tea choices, he will make sure to note your likes (green, white, or black tea) and match you perfectly with a pot of tea. I especially enjoyed the strawberry champagne tea per his recommendation. For a party of two, highly recommend sharing the AFTERNOON TEA SERVICE ($19.96 per person + $6 for an additional pot of tea) which comes with a pot of fresh steeped loose tea, three tired rack with four half sandwiches (Salmon, Chicken, Limerick, and Punjab), two freshly baked scones with jam & cream, as well as a light dessert of a biscuit and macaroon. If you're feeling a bit more famished, there are "enhancements" of a soup of salad as well as other full sandwiches. The tea is all served in beautiful china, you're surrounded by lovely chandeliers, and you can't but feel like British royalty sipping away at your tea. The location is fairly large and offers plenty of seating , but can get very packed on weekends. Highly recommend reserving a table, especially for bigger parties. There is a 20% gratuity added to parties of 6 or more. There are many birthdays and "catch up with the girl reunions" occurring here, so if your schedule permits, try a weekday in later afternoon to avoid crowds.

This is a nice place in San Pedro area. The food is good, the tea is good and you are not sitting right next to the next tsvle, you have a little room. I will definitely return. Only downside.. takes awhile for a server to get your order, the same to get the check. Maybe not enough food if you are very hungry, but you can always order an extra sandwich or side, it wouldn't make the price too much higher. Great price for the service given. I do recommend this location.

S

A place of ambience and peace. This tea room isn't exactly the place for fine dining or stellar quality food for that matter as it's the experience you have around this place that makes it or breaks it for you. I came early in the morning being one of their first customers of the day. The service was quick and polite. I observed the server partaking in conversation with other patrons which tells me this place is a favorite with regulars. The wide selection of tea and mixed matched silverware gives the place a of imperfect perfection as whilst not picturesques it's definitely a place with spirit and charm hidden and stowed away in every corner ready to be discovered. Definitely a place to visit with friends and family

Had the afternoon tea service with coconut Chai tea. You get tea sandwiches, scones with cream/jelly, and dessert which is a macro and sugar cookie. Enjoying the warm weather this weekend.

My friend celebrated her birthday here and it was a nice experience to have. Pros: - I love the scones with the whipped cream, it was delicious. - I enjoyed my tea, which was a mix of champagne and raspberry that did not have a heavy champagne taste. I also enjoyed the beauty tea and anaconda tea - The tea pots were super cute - It was a great place to take pictures and feel a little fancy Cons: - Pricing: It ended up being $35-40/person for 1 sandwich (cut into fours), a macaroon, a strawberry on a cracker, 1 scone with whipped cream and jelly, and a pot of tea (services about 6 cups). - It can be difficult to get a waiters attention, we were one of the first parties and there was only 2 waiters for the entire place. More waiters came later on. - I did not like the ginger/orange, lychee, or birthday tea. Overall, while it was a nice experience, I don't believe I would do this again unless there was a special occasion or someone mentioned they specifically wanted to do this.

I had my bridal shower here at the end of February '22. We had a set menu, the actual party was set up by my maid of honor and one of my bridesmaids. When we arrived they did have to scurry to get the tables together but when they did they looked beautiful. We had an array of sandwiches with tea then we had scones and cookies with tea. The servers were very attentive and answered all of our questions. We then stayed to open gifts and were also served tea while doing so. Everything tasted amazing and we will definitely go back again. I rarely give five stars so please don't read anything into that.

It is a very popular and busy tea House. I love the ambiance there. First time I went there for my own surprise birthday get together from my friends and yesterday was my second time there. There service is excellent and vegetarian sandwiches are awesome. They served many different teas and liked them a lot. Cookies were excellent 👌.

What I liked the most was the outside seats that were close to the waterfall. They have an extensive variety of tea. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable if you ask them about tea. It is moderately priced if you consider that it is not a fast food place. The museum of Japanese American History is nearby.

Lovely tea rooms and pleasant atomsphere. Great selection of teas. I personally love the grilled chicken sandwich it's always yummy! However they could improve the service a little as a recommendation, sometimes they are not very welcoming depending on which server you get.

This was such a fun experience. I was in town visiting family and my aunt decided to treat me in a few people to this tea experience. When you walk in, it is so huge and beautifully decorated. To your left, it looks like over a hundred teas lining the shelves and, to your right, beautifully decorated tea pots that you can purchase. Finally, in the center, a beautiful fountain that gives the place that extra elegance a tea room should emit. Now since this was my first time at a tea room, I wanted the real experience so I ordered the afternoon tea service. So for my tea, I ordered Decaf Marlene de chocolate. I love trying different teas and chocolate flavor is one I had yet to try. To put it simply, on a scale of 1 to 10, I would give it a 5. It was okay but not something I would buy in bulk. I also tried two other teas: Reenas herbal chai and White champagne raspberry. The herbal chai was very good, a 8 out of 10 for me. This tea would be something I would drink when wanting to cleanse my body, especially when I am sick or starting to get sick. I would add just a smidge of sugar though. My favorite out of the three that I've tried however, was the white champagne raspberry. I would give it a 10 out of 10. It was such an amazing tea, with just a small bit of sugar, it was one of the best teas I have ever tried. It was very clean and crisp in taste. I made sure I took some to go. I will have to order it again. Let's move on to the food portion. At the top of the tear, was a variety of four different have sandwiches. My two favorites was there version of a cucumber sandwich and a salmon sandwich. You can get it toasted, or non toasted if you prefer. The second tier consisted of a scone, cream, and a perserve. Now I would have given five stars for this review, had it not been for the scone. It was very overcook and hard. The last tier consisted of petite macarons and thin, lemon cookies. I'm not a sweets person per say so I just ate the cookies, which were delicious. Another bonus, is that you can take your leftovers to go! The staff here were great. Orlando was a great host, gave good recommendations, and answered all our questions. All in all, my first experience at a tea room was a success. I thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely be back.

Went there recently with a friend for high tea. Nice ambience. Nice selection of tea sandwiches and scones. Not much of a selection of drinks other than tea or water. It would be nice if they were able to offer Champagne for the high tea but they don't have a wine license. They do allow you to bring your own. They seem to be very lightly staffed and it did take quite a while when we had a request. The tea was very nice and the food was good quality. Nice traditional tea house. Shelves lined with really cute teapots and other items for sale. Prices are in line with what you would expect for a high tea. They do need better service and they also need to pay attention as the tablecloth at our table was dirty and should have been changed before we were seated. It would also be nice to see additional beverage selections, especially for those who don't drink tea. Perhaps some sparkling mineral water options and a selection of soft drinks. Overall a nice experience and it would be a nice place to host an event.

I met a friend here on NYE and we really enjoyed it. I have a couple of suggestions that would make Chado even better. They used to cut the sandwiches in small bites, and I wish they would do that again, because then you could sample smaller bites…and I also think they could add more filling to their sandwiches!! I could hardly tell what flavors were until I bit into the sandwich. The scones were very good but again it would be awesome if they were small scones…it just makes the tea more elegant and easier to sample. The teas were delicious, the setting is very warm and cozy. I think that they could use an extra waitress for service when it is busy.

Spent the afternoon at Chado Tea Room in Torrance, and it was just beautiful. We were served tea in the cutest elephant-shaped teapots with matching cups — so charming and very British. You can order a full afternoon tea service or go à la carte with scones, soups, salads, or sandwiches, so there’s plenty of variety depending on your mood. The space itself is quite large and peaceful — quiet even though it’s right off a busy street. It’s such a lovely spot to catch up with a friend over tea. You can also shop for loose-leaf teas or little tea accessories while you’re there. Perfect for a girlfriend tea date, bridal shower, or just a slow, cozy lunch hour. We tried some of their bestsellers and loved them. Definitely going back — it’s sweet, relaxing, and surprisingly spacious.

I thoroughly enjoyed myself you walk into this whimsical place with fancy teacups, and tea, kettles and an assortment of teas with a soft jazz playing accompanied by the sounds from the water fountain throughout the tea room. This is definitely photogenic I started off by ordering the tea room special, which comes with your choice of tea. I chose butterscotch, and then a three tier assortment of sandwiches which included chicken cranberry that was absolutely amazing, and then like a chicken salad sandwich and cucumber sandwich and salmon on toasted bread. The next plate had a biscuit that was absolutely amazing. It was accompanied by jelly and some sort of cream, but it was amazing and then a macaroon and some sort of cookie, and the price for that was $28 and some odd cents. They also have another special that includes everything that I just listed but you have a choice to add a tomato soup or a salad. and it includes a cold tea as well as a hot tea I believe and I think it’s $39. The staff was absolutely amazing. Everything was quick no wait time but I did go on a Friday morning almost noon and the waiter told me that Saturdays and Sundays are very busy. AnyWho definitely try this place out. I had an amazing time. It was a complete vibe. They have these tea hats all over the room I didn’t ask to try one on, but I’m sure you can. They have tons of things that you can purchase cute trinkets and vases and tea pots and tea cups plenty of plants all around this was absolutely a vibe.

One of the most interesting tea selections I've seen. Many exotic blends. Fairly robust menu as well for a tea room, they have a good selection of paninis and desserts. I find tea rooms tend to lean one of two ways, opulent or kitsch. This tea room definitely seems to lean more kitsch, or like a secret garden / country cottage vibe. Not meaning that as a negative, just setting expectations. The staff seems very friendly and attentive. The only thing I was not as impressed with were the tea sandwiches. Not a major disappointment, they were just ok, I've had tastier tea sandwiches. Otherwise it's an excellent place to go for tea.

My friend and I had talked about having a tea party for a while and while in the area we decided to give this place a shot. It was very busy but was able to get a table in 15 minutes. It's $25-35/person for the afternoon tea which came with your choice of tea, mini sandwiches, a biscuit, 2 macaroons, and cookies with strawberries. It was all very tasty and decor is very nice. We ended up being seated near the fountain and definitely enjoyed the vibe and little pots and tea sets to take home. Cons: customer service could definitely improve. We waited a while for water and getting our check.

I loved this place. You can sip tea along with biscuits here with your girls or come out on a date. It’s a quiet place with a water feature in the middle. They sell their teas in house as well as their tea cups. We had the lychee oolong tea and it was flavorful. They also decorate the place with the seasons! So this time they had a pretty Christmas tree!

I was excited to come, having not been to a tea room in recent years and realizing one was nearby in Old Torrance. We were served and orders taken pretty quickly, and appetizer, soup and tea brought out quickly. We experienced some lag between then and the high tray with the sandwiches and pastries being brought out. It also took a while to get our bill (I finally went inside and paid). We found the service to be pleasant if not chatty. They seemed understaffed because they were manning the inside register as well and taking care of online pickup orders. I’m chalking it up to Covid challenges, and the food was good...I’d give them another try under different circumstances.

Very quiet place to meet with friends for tea and conversation. Also has a nice lunch menu separate from the high tea menu. Very very colorful to look at so many styles of tea services that surround you to enjoy and can purchase. Food was good, service friendly. It can be a bit pricey if ordering a complete tea and sandwiches and scones per person, but still a wonderful tea experience. My 2nd time there.

The atmosphere was relaxing, the tea was fabulous but the cashier man was rude and raised his voice angrily for no reason, also, we were told they were closing despite making a reservation at the specific hour and being there on time. Beside that, it was ok.

Service was slow. The tea of course, was great. There is a huge selection and we enjoyed and Indian Black tea and a flavored White Tea. The warm scones with marmalade and cream were nice but the scone was on the dry and hard side. Too dense. The sandwiches, pretty much sucked. It's as if the person who made them thought "how little can I put on this?" There was literally a quarter inch of filling between the pieces of bread. The bread was supposedly toasted, it looked toasted but was soft and chewy. There was little to no seasoning on any of the sandwiches leaving them bland. The dessert cookies were straight out of a package and not worth eating. They should make more of an effort to provide better food.

I have been here before on a week day. I have a group of 8. Great experience. I guess week days are less crowded therefore better service. I came today (Sunday) with my 2 granddaughters. I had to get up and request a waiter (3 times)after waiting for a long time. Food came. Food was good. Especially their tomato soup. Service got better 👍. Then no waiter again👎 Got up, chased a waiter down to ask for my 2nd choice of tea. Waited and waited. No tea. Waited and waited. Asked again 3xs. No tea. I was very patient. Waited 30 mins. Asked to speak to manager. No manager. Spoke to someone with poor language barrier/understanding. They tried to charge me twice 😒 and I had them do it over. My bill was $30 less. They charge you different than stated on the menu. Watch that. I won't be back anytime soon. I'm sure they won't miss me 🙄

Wow I'm very surprised by the good reviews. We ordered the afternoon tea. The tea itself was quite good and the scone and cream were delicious, but the rest was absolutely disappointing. The sandwiches had so little filling you couldn't even tell the egg salad and chicken salad apart. And the worst part was the desserts: a couple of madeleine cookies and macarons that I guarantee were purchased at Costco. Overall very disappointing for nearly $30 per person.

My husband and I love to visit tea rooms! I’m slightly obsessed and we’ve been to quite a few tea rooms in the UK as well. This was a far cry from any tea room we’ve been to—US or UK. I am gluten intolerant and was thrilled when I saw they offer “gluten free options” (all the tea rooms we’ve gone to have had this also.) We thought the price was somewhat reasonable given that it looked like we were going to get a good atmosphere and good food coupled with some quality tea. The service was fine, although the man who brought the tea seemed like he had a short temperament, especially when he got into an argument with another customer and I overheard him say, “Well, we have to make money, what do you want me to do?” Not only was the tea very weak (no loose leaves or strainers), but it was served in tea pots that had the lids rubber banded on the top with stained rubber bands and sponges under the spouts that looked nasty. It didn’t look sanitary. The sugar was brought in packets, not sugar bowls. Very cheap. The decor is a bit cheesy as well. The food was not at all what we expected. Because we requested the gluten free option, we didn’t get a scone with cream (expected) but got a small ramekin of a few plain strawberries. All other tea rooms we’ve been to have gluten free scones if they offer gluten free options. Strawberries are fine, but there was no cream, nothing. The sandwiches were filled with the slightest amount of filling. And we got small macarons that were definitely supermarket—the ones you get from the freezer section and have to thaw. This was absolutely not worth $27 a person. I’m attaching photos of a tea room we went to in Bath, UK that was the same price, way better atmosphere, and was in there style of Jane Austin’s house. They also had gluten free scones. That is the way a tea room should be.

Today was my first time coming into the Tea Room. I was there to buy some tea for my brother-in-law for Christmas. No one was in there. I tell the guy behind the counter I'm looking for tea in bags. He swings his arm around to encompass the whole room and says something I don't understand but think he means look around. There are no prices on most everything and the actual boxes of "Chado" tea have the name but not what they are known or used for. I did find a box of "Young" tea that had a little history and where it was from. I brought both boxes to the counter. I say I'm not really a tea drinker, these are gifts, do you think these are a good choice? Doesn't ask any questions, doesn't make any recommendations Just kind of grunts something. Rings me up. $15 for each after checking them out. Doesn't refer to any list. I pay cash, get no receipt. Now I'm home. Writing this review and I see the Young box says BEST BY 09/2024. That's one year and three months past. I was glad I never had to go again. But I'm going tomorrow to return the box or exchange it ...without a receipt. This guy's attitude was like I was an annoying interruption in his day and there wasn't another customer in there. I take negative reviews very seriously. And I regret having to write this. But, what the heck? If you hate your job that much, find something else! I really, really wish I didn't have to go back I did give it 2 stars because it's cute inside.

I ordered afternoon tea set ($30 per person) with my friends. The food quality was terrible, just cheap market products, three out of four tea cups have a chip. T he service was also the same level. I never recommend this restaurant to anyone. Totally waste of money!

At the time, I visited with a friend who had made the reservation, and the group was split across two tables, with each table billed separately. I placed my card on the receipt for the portion I intended to pay and received only one receipt. However, when both tables' bills were combined and I went back to clarify, I received an unreasonable response, suggesting I should get the information from the friend I came with. It felt as though the waiters were justifying their own calculation errors and lack of explanation, and this was accepted at other tables at the time as well. We are unable to get information since we did not exchange contact details with the other guests. As I did not receive a receipt, I considered the calculation invalid and proceeded with the dispute.

Highway robbery. Went here for Mother’s Day high tea, and paid over $340 for four people. The teas were quite good. I can’t say anything else good about it. Most of the food tasted like it was bought at Ralph’s. The sandwiches were thrown together on Wonderbread The service was indifferent and confused; no silverware, only two out of our four teas even arrived! The bathroom was like a state park. Went thirty minutes without any service stopping by our table. The power went out halfway thru but honestly that was the least-worst part of the experience. Can’t recommend this place at any level.

My friends and I were at Chado Tea room in Torrance on May 14, it just so happened it was Mother's Day. We made reservations for four. This experience was the worst $340 spent in my life! We were served 4 sandwiches cut in half made from wonder bread with very little of anything else. One sandwich was with the most generic store bought pesto and nothing else. The cucumber sandwich had ONE slice of wilted cucumber. The sandwich with cream cheese was well, just that. And one was with the lowest quality of smoked salmon. Next came store bought scone. The scone tasted like nilla wafers and was dry. It was obvious that it was bought at the lowest cost possible. Definitely not made in house! The rest of the tea experience consisted of 4 store bought cookies, 4 store bough macaroons, and a few wilted berries. The menu said we will be served 4 different teas. One was chocolate flavored, one was oolong, and we never got served the other two. We were also given 6 store bought chocolates. We paid for this store bough stuff $340!! On the top of the rip off for the food, the wait staff most of the time ignored us. We were missing silverware. The wait staff didn't explained any of the food or tea they brought to the table. They dropped things on the table, yes dropped, and walked away. And as if this was not enough, the power went off mid way our tea. No one apologized, or explained what is going on, or offered a discount for not providing the rest of the tea that we paid for. I am appalled at how the customer is treated. Save your money and skip the Chado Tea Room.

Had a reservation. Showed up. Was told that the place was closed before closing. No warm greeting. I had to go to the register man and was met with him saying everyone would be gone by 6PM. Kitchen is closed. So that means your closing time should be listed as 5 PM. Unprofessional.

While having tea with my family on 5/13/23, an early Mother's day outing. We had the worst experience. 1. The waitress gave our order to another table and made us wait while she finished serving the table and had to replace or order 2. The manager did not seem concerned when I express to him the service was subpar and was not the experience I expected 3. Our order was delivered sporadically, so the tea arrive way in advanced and two of our party members didn't get tea until after the food arrived. 4.Some of the sandwiches was not prepared as described on the menu, it was all on plain untoasted white bread. All in all a very disappointing experience and at the end a roach jump across our table. The waitress ran away and the manager came over to retrieve the roach. The manager left the table never to return to discuss any of the events.

We came from the OC to celebrate Mother’s Day with tea time pre-set menu. Cost was about $65 per person and definitely not worth the cost. Food was horrible and like some of the other reviews it felt “store bought”. Sandwich were nothing to rave about at all, extremely thing and weird taste pairings. Expected some type of texture possibly even toasting a little. Salmon sandwich felt it was scraped left over salmon shavings. Scones were a better choice compared to everything else. Food felt more like a cafeteria more than anything else. First walking in it had a bad stench from a really dated building. They had tacky artificial flowers which was a little too much and made the environment feel cheap. We were seated next to a non working fountain which is weird. Feels like they tried to hard to make the ambience feel nice . Not recommended and not photo worthy. Over priced for what you actually get. Even at half the cost still not worth it.

My pregnant wife has been craving tea this entire pregnancy, and after weeks of research, she decided the Chadao Tea Room would be our first stop on a special trip. We drove hours from out of town to come here. Because LA traffic is unpredictable, I called ahead. Mike answered. I explained our situation clearly: “We’re coming from out of town, our appointment is at 4:30, but traffic’s bad — we’ll probably be a little late.” Mike reassured me: “As long as you get here before 5pm, you’ll be fine.” I even repeated it back to confirm, because I didn’t want any misunderstandings. He confirmed it. I even asked for his name in case anyone tried to turn us away. Despite our best efforts, LA traffic was brutal. We finally arrived at 4:56pm. I dropped my pregnant wife off at the door while I parked, excited for her to finally get the tea she’d been craving. Moments later, my phone rang. It was her — in tears. Mike, the same person who promised us we’d be fine if we arrived before 5, had personally turned her away. He claimed “it’s 5pm” when it was 4:57pm. His excuse? “You wouldn’t know what you wanted.” Let that sink in. A pregnant woman who spent weeks dreaming about this visit, who drove hours through LA traffic, standing in front of their door with three minutes to spare, was denied and sent away in tears. This isn’t just bad customer service. This is heartless. It’s dishonest. It’s cruel. Mike could have honored his word. He chose not to. And because of that, our special first stop — the one my wife was most excited about — turned into a humiliating, crushing disappointment. If this is how Chadao Tea Room treats people, especially vulnerable customers they promise to accommodate, then they don’t deserve your trust, your time, or your money. Shame on you, Mike. Shame on Chadao Tea Room.

One of the most bizarre dining experiences of my life. We had 2 pm reservations, got there at 2, stood for a while waiting to be seated. Finally got seated, and after fifteen minutes one of us got up to ask if they could take our order. Twenty minutes in we’d finally ordered. Then it got weirder. The table next to us was arguing with the waiter about a bait and switch (which, from what I overheard I think the guests were right). Then someone got up to go to the bathroom and slipped on the massive puddle in the middle of the floor. When they said “hey, you should maybe dry that cuz it’s super dangerous” they said “well there’s a sign” which…wild. Also the sign was about five feet away. At forty five minutes without even getting drinks we decided to get out while we still could. “Good idea,” the table next to us said.
