Sushi Nozomi

It's been years since I've been back here, and previously, I didn't have much to say about this restaurant. However, this time around, I can say otherwise. I was going to come here for the omakase at lunch for my friend's birthday, but due to her baby being sick, we opted for takeout, which I never like to do for omakase especially. The staff was super kind about the last min reservation cancellation, and told us the takeout would be ready in 20 min. Now the food. The omakase came with miso soup, 10 sushi pieces (including ikura and uni), and a negi-toro cut roll. The takeout presentation was beautiful (see pic). Each piece was fresh and delicious, with the fish to rice ratio being ideal. I want to come back and try dining at the restaurant on my next visit.

This is the JAPANESE “REAL MCCOY” in LA! Service, quality and taste is on par with the best I’ve seen in Japan. Truly authentic and wonderful for solo or large parties!

Love this place. Our family has been coming here for years. They've cobbled together an outdoor seating area during Covid 19.

Excellent service from staff and skilled sushi Chefs. Large variety of highest quality, fresh fish from Tokyo and nearby coastal cities. Highly recommend the Live Sweet Shrimp (if available). Delicious Lychee sorbet. Worth the trip and $!

Amazing sashimi restaurant. Go to place when the wife is craving specialty dishes like uni and scallops. Food is very high quality and consistent, great service, always attentive and accommodating. Hits the spot every time.

Amazing sushi - get the omakase at the sushi bar. Comparable to Japan at a fraction of the price. Lunch bento boxes are not bad either. Chirashi/salmon bowls are always good too. I'm not the biggest fan of the off-menu uni pasta, but my friend loves it.

Had their lunch special combo. It was delicious! I had the grilled salmon and cali roll combo. It came with salad, rice, and miso soup. It was a feast! We also ordered tuna and tamago sushi. Both were really good.

This is our first time at Sushi Nozomi We came for lunch and ordered Omakase. Great variety of. Sushi and sashimi. Reasonable price. The fish was very fresh and tasty. We'll definitely come back for more.

Hands down some of the best sashimi we have ever had. Amazing Sake selection too. The owner Mark is a great guy. Ask him how he gets the freshest sashimi & you won’t be disappointed. Enjoy!

UPDATE: This place is even better. The quality of the sushi is outstanding and reasonably priced. The uni udon is still the best and I haven't found anywhere else that even comes close. The nigiri is amazing. Love the uni and toro! Chawanmushi is great, service is amazing, the servers are sweet, attentive and helpful! I love this place! This is a staple for whenever I'm in the area!!! This place is amazing. I haven't tried their sushi but wow they have a lunch special for their uni cream udon... it is amazing... so delicious with uni and salmon roe and a side of rice to make your own bowl at the end. Their iced green tea is also amazing. Service is polite and awesome. Their sushi bar looks delicious and I love uni and sushi so I will have to try that soon. The uni cream udon is really just so amazing. Wowza.. thinking about getting it tomorrow haha. The taste and perfectly cooked noodles is just as they say in Japan "oishi" very memorable and totally understand why they do not do To-go orders. You won't have anything left!

Amazing sushi and great prices. They have outdoor seating. If you want a full experience, I would suggest the omakase then the chef can give you the freshest fish of the day. If not, there are plenty of great sushi selections for you to pick and choose to customize your own order. There is also a good selection of hot meals to complement your sushi or to just eat by itself. The uni pasta as a hot meal is amazing! This is a total gem and would recommend any sushi lover.

Nozomi always has the best sushi and cooked dishes. There are private rooms for hosting parties where there is a tatami floor with leg passthrough so you can sit normally without cross legs. Always a favorite for special occasions.

First time eating at Sushi Nozomi. May 10, 2024. Looking from the outside, it looks like a hole in the wall restaurant. It's a little sushi restaurant that is clean, the staff was very friendly. They have a private room with a minimum order dollar amount. We ordered Omakase (80.00), US Wagyu rib eye 8oz. (55.00), GoldenEye snapper head (21.80), Ankimo (14.80), and black sesame brulee (15.00). All the foods were very good. Snapper head was amazing. We will definetly come back. Service was great too. Come and try it here. Price was reasonable.

Delicious food, very authentic, warm and friendly staff, in a welcoming and beautiful space. Private rooms are available. During the "Safer at Home" time, they're doing takeout service and including special care packages for their customers -- I don't want to ruin the surprise, but will say -- it's very nice! Important to support such a wonderful local business.

They were happy to accommodate my picky guest's modification requests and the food was all fresh and prepared perfectly. Everyone was so nice and there are some rare and hard to find treats on the menu, highly recommended!

Called them at lunchtime for a reservation which i got and they said that last food orders was 845pm so that was perfect. Couldnt get the sushi bar but table seating was perfect and intimate. Our server was friendly and we ordered right away. Prices were a little on the high side but its a date so live a little🤙 Ordered a couple small appetizers and the Sushi Dinner deluxe for myself and the Sushi Omakase for my date that featured speciality fish of the day (chefs choice). Everything was fresh and high quality, delicious and authentic. Stayed still closing time and didnt feel rushed at all.....Thank you for such a nice memorable dinner for the both of us. 🙏🙏Would recommend if in the area. 5 stars🤙

** You need to make reservation for table seatings! ** I was craving sushi and some sake, so I searched a place nearby. We were so close to miss the reservation but luckily we made it. Their sushi are very fresh and tasty. I really liked the scallop sushi!!! omg so good. I don't really recommend pork belly skewers..it doesn't worth the price. My favorite sushi place in the area so far. We did take out but would like to eat at the restaurant once Covid settles down. Not super expensive not super cheap, just quality sushi!

We visited this place because we weren't able to make a reservation on the other place. But Nozomi's omakase was a rare jem. All 3 of us were super satisfied and the chef kindly explained the menu and answered all our questions.

Authentic Japanese food. I’ve tried to look for good kamameshi and dobin mushi for so long. And they have very good ones. (Though it’s a 1hour wait for the Kamameshi, but worth it.) not a big place but very recommended Japanese foods.

This was my first time here, and I was surprised by the quality of food. It was amazing, especially, their yellowtail sushi was so good. It just melted in my mouth. I’d definitely come back :)

My family and I went there for lunch on a Friday. The restaurant was full, and we were seated in a private room where you had to take off your shoes to enter. The service was excellent, and the menu featured unique items at reasonable prices. We will definitely return for more.

Took my family out from Italy for a sushi dinner experience at the counter. Chef Rey was absolutely amazing! He cared about every detail and is truly an expert! Thanks!

Sushi was really good! Particularly the fatty tuna and yellow tail. The black grilled cod was also really good.

Though, we have eaten outside seating, sushi is so good, service is good too. (When eat Sushi eat at sushi bar counter is best )

The blue fin tuna, sweet shrimp and crab is good. Also the sake clam is good too. Service is nice. Overall not bad.

I really want to say the food is mediocre. I've had way better Japanese food at the 1/10 of the price. The price was extremely stratospheric high and the service was very minimal. We had to chase the server down multiple times to even refill some hot tea. With this price, I could have gone to a five-star high class restaurant. Seriously not worth it. The salmon skin salad... even the Salmon skin was soggy while portions were way small.

Rip off .. few pieces of uni donburi $48.00 And Soba noodles cost over $70.00 Never never again. This place makes all Japanese restaurants looks bad .

Don’t know how the food tastes because they never offered a seat. My husband and I waited standing and no one offered a seat for a while. The restaurant was not full at all, as there were 3-4 groups. Two Servers and two chefs at the counter never even gave a glance at us nor asking us to wait. this is not what I expected from a decent looking sushi place.
