the ideal date night, we had a really wonderful time here, terrific decor that is very appealing, tasteful and culturally beautiful. Excellent menu choices, perfectly presented dishes, and I loved the sushi! Nice pricing, very kind service from the staff, and they were happy to answer our questions as well. Really neat place.
Really fun restaurant, my kids love the ambiance and food. Inside has these little booths that feel like a private little izakaya. easy iPad ordering. We love this place and feels like a fun special spot for our family’s night out
I'd highly recommend this place to anybody craving Japanese food, the amount of food for the price is very good and tasty too. I'd highly recomment the Tonkotsu Ramen Spicy Miso, Hot Udon, Taiyaki with matcha ice cream and the shikuwasa soda. I'll definitely come back when I'm around the area!
We went for lunch, happened to be in the area. Had the sardines soy sauce noodles my mom had the salmon rice bowl. Everything was fantastic even for lunch. Also had the miso soup with a cold beer. Loved the private seating. Server was really nice. Have to come here for dinner was expecting to spend a lot more money. Next time!
Love Torrance Yokocho!! My go to favorite spot! They have varieties of dishes and drinks. Sometimes food can be salty but simply inform them. They really care about their customers.
Make reservations. We didn't and there were no more booths, but were able to sit at the counter. Food was good. Atmosphere was great. Only one thing I'd comment negatively on is that the burdock root chips were insanely oily. Everything else was great. Looking forward to coming back for 50% yakitori + drinks. Update: Came back again for the above mentioned 50% off yakitori. Everything was delicious. Drinks were great too. Dan dan noodles and udon noodles were perfect. Booked via yelp and got a booth this time. Looking forward to spreading the word!
Overall, this restaurant has an amazing experience! The booths, the decor, the staff even the paint on the floor was perfectly YOKOCHO and whimsical The thing that got me, the most was the “Homemade” pork shumai! Simply perfect and is something that is really hard to find at Japanese restaurants I hadn’t even paid the check yet and I was already thinking about the next time I would visit this restaurant …
My absolute favorite date night spot! Food quality is amazing and the service is top tier!
Absolutely loved this place and will come back again. I came here with my boyfriend just to check it out because we love Japanese food and this place was amazing. Not only was the food good, the service was the best I've ever had. They always made sure we were doing well during our visit. The atmosphere and vibe is great; I love the alleyway theme. It is a bit pricey, but by the end of the night we were full and in love with the place. We called as soon as they opened and made a reservation the same night. If you want to eat here, I recommend calling first before walking in because it does get busy. Great place, I would come here again with friends to have great conversations.
Soft Opening on April 19! The door they used is over to the side, in between the two buildings. Likely to give off the alleyway vibe? Once inside, the hostess counter is right away to the left. The decor inside is BEAUTIFUL! Every corner has small details that remind you of tokyo yokocho alleyways. There is a QR code on the table with the menu. They have 11 "shops" which all have a separate menu section. Once the items are ordered through the phone, staff will bring the food/drinks to the table. The quality of the food was good! Our favorite item was the fried pork. They had oden items as well that we want to try next time. Since it is a soft opening, you have to give a little bit of slack to the service. Servers were unfamiliar with the menu, wrong items would come, or the kitchen would run out of items. I fully expect that to be solved by their grand opening day.

Loved the vibe it felt like I was eating in Japan, and the food was great.
A hidden gem that should be more well known! Want to feel like you are at a Tokyo Izakaya? This is the spot! So many food choices, plenty of amazing drinks, and ambiance that feels like Japan. Check them out!

Authentic Japanese Izakaya with Private Booths Visited on a Friday evening and was pleasantly surprised to be seated right away. Each table had its own semi-private curtain, creating a cozy and intimate atmosphere—perfect for a date night. The food was freshly made, especially the skewers which came out hot and well-seasoned. Even the vegetables were fresh and flavorful—no shortcuts here. I especially enjoyed their shochu high-ball. The lemon flavor was refreshing with just the right kick—highly recommend it! Definitely coming back again.
I think it somewhat captures the atmosphere of a Japanese izakaya. It would have been even better if there were an actual menu on the wall. I wish they had a grilled squid tentacle dish. The round dumplings were delicious.

The service team is great and the atmosphere is amazing. The food was decent. I went with a party of three and we shared three main dishes with an appetizer. It was enough for all three of us but it was a bit pricey. Great place to go for special occasions with a small party.
We have been here a few times and love the atmosphere and staff are always nice. But we miss the yakitori! Please bring it back!!

Newly opened during last summer in 2024, Torrance Yokocho is advertised to be the new center/corner of Japanese street food. Online reservation is straightforward. Digital ordering is simple. Cashless payment is convenient. Staff is not the friendliest bunch, but at least they are not rude. The restaurant is clean. Most importantly, food is not cheap and quality is so-so. Nothing really stands out. There are definitely better options for dinner at the same price level in the area.
We thought the food was decent but not outstanding. The pork with bean sprouts had good flavor and was the best "bang for the buck". We ordered the tuna sashimi and it was good but not any better than getting a package at the local Japanese supermarket. The yakitori was also good but I wish the chicken skin could be more crispy, the beef skewer was overcooked a bit. Lastly the ramen wasnt bad but I think the fish powder was a bit too strong.
Ordered some chicken skin, hoping for that satisfying crunch. Turns out, chewy's the house style, which nobody mentioned. Not a fan of gummy poultry, or heard of anyone who prefers it that way. so that was a bummer. The beef sticks were also chewy.

Pros: great food selection, food is good, quick service. Kimchi is really tasty. Cons: No wine by the glass, must buy an entire bottle for $50. We asked about corkage fee when we were leaving, and it is $30. So if you don't want beer or sake, be aware. Ordering from the tablet is a bit confusing at first. Photos in the menu make the servings look much larger than they really are, especially the skewers.

Cute place. Definitely feels like you’re in a Japanese alley. They no longer serve yakitori so if you’re interested in this, I recommend going elsewhere. Food is okay, but not worth the price point. Lacking in flavor!

Came here for dinner expecting to have good Japanese food but ended up waiting forever for the food to come out. The food was unseasoned and cold. None of the stuff came out hot let alone warm. Things were 3X the amount that they should be for such small portions. $15 for 5 pieces of sushi that wasn't the best tasting, and the salmon had gray meat on it. The salmon was still good to eat but the appearance for $15 is unprofessional. This place needs to update their menu with bigger portions and better prices. Would not recommend eating here based off of experience.
