Breakfast what else to say except this place is always clean and the staff is super friendly. Recent visit they ran out of chicken sausage and I don’t like or eat pork and most other meat options are unfortunately of the swine variety. So I decided to try the chicken fried steak and the waiter was even kind enough to call out that the gravy was pork so they made me a turkey gravy. And that kind of thoughtfulness is why Black Bear still gives me the family owned and family diner vibe lease don’t change and you’ll continue to have loyal patrons that return.

Always good service, comfy atmosphere and never a long wait. They get you seared pretty quick even if they seem super busy. Good food and big portion size.

It was a slow Monday night in Tracy, so we decided to go for dinner at Black Bear Diner. Pretty good diner, with great prices, friendly and fast service and tasty food. The desert selection was pretty impressive looking when I walked in - but they gave enough food I wasn't hungry for desert. They do serve beer and wine as well, which may not be known if you look at the menu. Decent selection that most people could find something to quench their thirst. I was very impressed with how attentive the entire staff was, and the food came out quickly as well. Also way cleaner than most diners I have visited.

The service hasn’t been great lately. The waitstaff didn’t seem friendly, the food came out cold, not fully cooked, etc. I’m not sure if this is a temporary, or a one time thing, but definitely not the same service I remember.

Dinner was good, however the one thing they're known for is their cobblers, was terrible, it was old, cold and crust was not flaky,it was like rubber you actually had to chew it for a while. Hugely disappointed. Keep them FRESH or don't serve them.

Normally the food is good. Last night I was here for dinner and I got the roast turkey dinner. I’ve had it many times before with no issues , I don’t know if they have switched their turkey meat but this is not fresh carved turkey. My turkey was 2 thick slices of rubber. It tasted like microwaved food. It was not good and I was very disappointed. I only ate the mashed potatoes. I only had 2 bites of the turkey but it was just gross. I will not be ordering it again. It came with a salad, it was good but could stand to have more veggies, cheese and croutons added to it. I got chocolate cream pie for dessert and it was very good.

Review – Black Bear Diner The moment we walked into the lobby, there was a strong, unpleasant odor. After our dining we exited using the restrooms. In the ladies’ room, the middle toilet has broken tile and toilet exposing the open flange and it’s releasing sewer gases into the restroom—and clearly into the lobby. I mentioned this to the manager, who admitted the general manager knows about the issue but hasn’t fixed it. There are multiple deodorizer units hanging in the bathroom, which tells me this has been going on for some time. For awareness: sewer gas exposure can cause headaches, nausea, dizziness, eye and throat irritation, and in higher concentrations can lead to respiratory problems. No restaurant should remain open with an active sewer gas leak. Customers deserve a safe, sanitary environment—this location needs immediate attention before someone becomes ill As far as dinnig experience that did not go well either. We ordered three berry cobblers and one apple. The waitress later said they were out of apple, so I switched to berry. When the desserts finally arrived, she brought only three cobblers total—meaning she never corrected the order and then tried to claim they were out of berry as well. This was simply untrue, as there was clearly berry cobbler visible in the dessert case. The quality of the berry cobblers was poor. The crust was buttery and flaky but the fill was to thick and not fresh berries. Would not order again.
