We had a lovely stay here in the penthouse suite - very very spacious with air-conditioning, a great view, great bathroom and kitchen facilities. No elevator so be prepared for a few tight stairwells. The bar staff didn't speak English very well so that was a hiccup, but the hotel staff (I think the daughter of the original owner) was very lovely and attentive. The breakfast was good and offered eggs and coffee. Convenient location as we wanted walking distance to the nearby Villa De Balbiano (30mins walk). Cute streets with a few good restaurants around too. Restaurant on site has limited options but was still tasty.

Enjoyed my stay and dinner here, lovely staff and comfortable room, closeby a nice quiet swimming spot at the lake. Breakfast was amazing. The piano was also a great detail, sorry I couldn't end up playing for the girl that asked, I was stuck waiting for a boat in the afternoon :(

What a great restaurant! Very traditional, with local dishes that were definitely worth trying. If you can sit outside, do, it’s very beautiful to sit under the trees. Another good sign is that there were a lot of locals eating there. Terrific service.

Stopped here for lunch. Beautiful shaded spaces outside were available so we grabbed one. An appetizer and pasta dish each was more than enough for lunchtime. Along with an excellent glass of Prosecco for only 5 Euro!!! Service was super friendly and a rather interesting menu was superbly executed. Bravo! What a lovely place. Plenty of indoor tables for those looking for something more cozy. Old school charm. Hope we make it back again one day.

I’ve stayed at La Locanda del Grifo several times now, as it’s perfectly located near Villa Balbiano, where I often work. In the past, the rooms and service sometimes left a bit to be desired, but on my most recent visit, everything exceeded my expectations. From the moment I arrived, I was surrounded by warmth and care. The staff went above and beyond — I was granted early check-in after kindly requesting it, they made sure I had something to eat right away, and even helped me with internet access. Everyone was incredibly kind, attentive, and genuinely helpful. I was also upgraded to a higher-category room on the third floor. While getting up there with a suitcase wasn’t the easiest, the room itself was absolutely beautiful — spacious, fresh, and modern, with large skylight windows offering stunning mountain views. It was exceptionally comfortable and felt like a true retreat. The hotel restaurant is also worth mentioning — both lunch and dinner are available onsite, and the food is consistently delicious. Just note that during busy times, there may be a short wait for your meal, but it’s well worth it. I highly recommend La Locanda del Grifo to anyone looking for a stay in the Ossuccio or Tremezzo area. A big thank-you to the team for their hospitality — I’ll be happy to return soon!

We had the best honeymoon 😁😁 Lenno is beautiful, our accomodation was perfect. We got the best room at Grifo with a beautiful View to the lake. Staff very nice and helpful. Food very nice as weell. Our room was cleaned every day so we can not complain about anything.

Been coming to Ossuccio for several years and I often stop by this place for coffee and croissants This is a family run hotel and it's absolutely 100 💯 authentic Italian. Beautiful little place tucked in near the bridge. You can enjoy the most scrumptious breakfast options and homemade croissants under the wisteria infront of the hotel.So many locals come here and you can see why as soon as you taste the coffee. The staff are super friendly and the atmosphere so relaxing.The food the service and value for money are all 5 stars. Grazie mille arrivederci 💖

A bit far from the train station (45 minutes by bus) but well worth the trip. Modern and exceptionally clean rooms with great views of the lake and mountains. Staff is friendly, courteous and very service-oriented. Would highly recommend a visit to this hotel.

Locanda datata ma molto curata. Personale gentile e disponibile. La cena all'altezza delle aspettative e il risotto con il pesce persico è ottimo. Camere essenziali ma pulitissime. Unica nota negativa i prezzi degli extra. Mezzo litro di vino bianco alla spina 9€, un litro di acqua naturale a cena 4,50€ sono prezzi assurdi..... Probabilmente è un modo per recuperare qualcosa, visto che abbiamo prenotato con una "smart box" (che sconsiglio vivamente, ma ce l'hanno regalata purtroppo... Sigh)... on un "modesto" sovrapprezzo di 80 €. Nonostante tutto il posto è estremamente consigliato per una sosta di una notte.

Locanda un pò datata ma rimodernata ma sempre mantenimento il suo stile dell' epoca, stanze non molto insonorizzate ma tutto sommato tra la cortesia del personale l abbondante colazione compensa tutto a due passi dal lago e da isenno dove si possono visitare molte ville e prendere i traghetti per i tour.

Ottima cucina, consiglio : Antipasto misto di pesce con Lavarello/Agone in salsa verde, pesce in carpione e Missoltino con polenta. Come primo il tradizionale riso e filetto di pesce Persico con burro e Salvia croccante. Per secondo un misto di pesce di lago. Formaggi tipici del lago con confettura fatta in casa. Per finire non potete fare a meno del FAVOLOSO "PARADELL" dolce tipico fritto, fatto con farina, latte, zucchero e mele. Vasta selezione di vini.

Locale caratteristico e ospitalità famigliare. Abbiamo preso, suggerito da un’amica, il Risotto al pesce persico e salvia. Personalmente il pesce persico fritto l’ho trovato un po’ troppo pieno di olio e il riso bianco come base troppo carico di condimento, l’insieme mi è sembrato un po’ troppo pesante, sicuramente non sarebbe stato un piatto che avrei scelto, ma il pesce a parte la frittura era molto saporito. Per quanto riguarda il dolce invece l’ho trovato veramente buono una meringata con cioccolato. Sicuramente un locale che suggerisco per la genuinità sia del cibo che del personale.

Usufruito solo del servizio ristorante. Nonostante siamo arrivati in pomeriggio inoltrato il personale ci ha fatto accomodare e ha allungato l’orario di apertura della cucina. Il cibo era molto buono, presentato bene (impiattamento ottimo) e con combinazioni ben equilibrate. Consiglio assolutamente.

Ho pranzato in questo ristorante, non sapendo che esisteva il menù lavoratori, ad un prezzo veramente ridotto. Menù à la carte con piatti tipicamente locali. Personale gentile e cordiale. Un po’ caro per le pietanze che ho mangiato.

Il posto è molto carino, penso agosto sia un momento complesso per tutti, per cui recensisco temporaneamente, in attesa di ricredermi cosa che penso avverrà fuori stagione. Cibo abbastanza deludente, servizio disattento, prezzo che per quanto ho appeno detto è risultato alto. Sia chiaro, spenderei anche il doppio per mangiar bene e sentirmi leggermente più considerato, ma oggi davvero un'esperienza mediocre. Ripeto, sono certo fosse il giorno sbagliato perché le premesse sono buone. Ecco, con un pochino di cura in più - nonostante l'agosto e i turisti che comunque in zona sono molto rispettosi - non si può che far meglio. Nota a margine: il parcheggio. Mi son trovato un adesivo con un insulto gratuito e fuori luogo appiccicato sull'auto (viviamo in giorni in cui ci si prendono libertà insospettabili), oltre ad un bigliettaccio - temevo fosse una multa, quindi poco male. Ora, non mi offendo di certo avendo da tempo conosciuto i benefici del praticare la dottrina zen, tuttavia suggerisco ai ristoratori di sensibilizzare il vicinato sulla tolleranza specialmente in agosto - come noi col servizio, o di segnalare dove si può o non si può parcheggiare, con calma e decoro. Il risultato dell'esperienza in tal località è deludente, tornerò soltanto per ricredermi sul ristorante, facendo attenzione a non parcheggiare nel posto dove il caro vicino si mette 364 giorni all'anno, mentre oggi mi ci sono messo io da buon - quoto il poeta innominato di turno - 'pirla'.

Very nice stay at Il Grifo in June. Staff is very kind. Rooms are clean. Authentic atmosphere. Good food restaurant. A C10 bus stop stands at 3min. Greenway is also very close to join other villages (Lenno..). Lake accessible in 2 min for nice view. Slightly noisy due to some construction work outside. I recommend for a simple stay with authentic touch.

Stanze arredate deliziosamente secondo i gusti impeccabili della ex titolare , cucina di piatti tradizionali ottima grazie agli eccellenti cuochi Ibrahim e Sheik . Purtroppo la locanda è collocata nelle adiacenze di una strada statale quindi a volte è un po' rumorosa , e nonostante gli sforzi degli efficientissimi e gentilissimi Christian e Giada talvolta la gestione della clientela è affidata ad un individuo che non sempre riesce ad adempiere ai compiti di sua pertinenza

Ristorante carino dove solitamente io e i miei colleghi abbiamo sempre mangiato bene tranne oggi che purtroppo c'era il coniglio ma io avevo solamente tante mini ossicini e niente carne ho fatto presente alla cameriera mi ha portato via il piatto dicendo lo faccio presente in cucina...saputo più niente e pagato conto senza un euro di sconto....non ci vedranno più.

The food was alright, but the service was less than ideal for this type of place. The staff came across as selective and borderline rude. We were questioned unnecessarily about our reservation even though the restaurant was half empty (and stayed that way throughout). On top of that, plates were taken away abruptly, making the whole experience feel unwelcoming.

We were able to get a table without a reservation inside (which was fine, the room is decorated in a lovely way, only the music was quite loud). The only issue was that the waiters seemed to forget us. Our dishes waited, apparently fully prepared, on the counter until we asked for it. The food tasted fine and there were some nice options. However, the portions were, even for primi piatti, quite small. Some ingredients mentioned on the menu were used sparsely (one olive for a dish described as „with olives“). And regarding the price, the meals were not as good as one might expect for this price range. One exception was the thyme creme dessert, which was excellent.
