Very nice microbrewery food and beer were great .Very reasonable prices definitely would go back.
We went on a Sunday afternoon, and the service was excellent. Food is good and they have a good variety on their menu. Great selection of beer. We had a 5 year old child with us, and the staff was very accommodating. Bathrooms are available upstairs and downstairs, which is a plus. They have a private room upstairs available for parties, wedding receptions, etc, with a nice view of the Hudson River.
We hosted our office party in the Malt Room for 35 guests and we couldn’t be more thrilled by the friendly and impeccable service, the atmosphere and the food were fantastic! Our bartender for our Open bar was so friendly and made our guests feel right at home. The food portions for our hot and cold appetizers and our dinner buffet were so incredibly generous not to mention delicious! And the dessert assortment was beautifully displayed and incredibly tasty! We plan to host our holiday party there again next year!
My bridal shower held at Brown's Brewing Company was nothing short of perfection! From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted with warmth and professionalism. The ambiance was enchanting, with beautiful decor that set the tone for a day of celebration. Nikki and the staff went above and beyond to ensure every guest felt welcome and attended to, and the attention to detail was impeccable. The catering surpassed our expectations with delicious brunch and refreshing drinks that kept everyone smiling. The venue provided the perfect backdrop for creating cherished memories with loved ones. Thank you, Nikki & Brown's Brewing Company, for making my bridal shower an unforgettable experience!
Came here for a wedding and have to say that we were so impressed! The venue was beautiful, the food was so tasty, and the space was perfect for the wedding. Really stood out and we could tell our friends getting married loved it there and had such a good time!
I can’t vouch for the food but it’s been fun to taste these brews as this place grows. They used to not have anything really up my ally (5-10 years ago) now I must say I’m good with almost anything there doctorin up. An ice cold 417 down by the river is on point on these 95+ degree Troy days.
Great food, nice atmosphere. Rustic looking, but that's the charm.
Went there with a group of about 15 and they were just wonderful. Great food!
Just had a beer. Great vibe, good selection and fair pricing.
The food is really good!!! Lots of flavor in the salmon on the salmon BLT!!!! That salmon by itself would make a great entree!!!
Nacho supreme with chicken is very good except the cheese is never hot and congeals quickly.
Much larger than it appears and included a second story gated dining area. Food was excellent only overshadowed by the beer, strongly recommend the Cherry and Raspberry sours. If I had to be critical, I ordered the "Pork Shank" and did not receive a "Shank" just pulled pork, was the only disappointment of the night, well worth the stop.
Recently we had a small group in the Trojan room to celebrate my daughter’s wedding! Nikki and her staff couldn’t have been more accommodating!! Everything was perfect and great! I have had lunch, dinner, a baby shower and wedding at this venue, they have all been exceptional! Would highly recommend for any occasion and gathering!!!!
The food, beer, and service was excellent. Enjoyed my experience and would go back!
Food was great. Service fun and friendly. Good beer selection. Did a flight and wasn't thrilled with one of their brews but the Oktoberfest was very good.
Incredible place. Great for any event or just to watch the game. Food is amazing. I love coming here. Sean, Sierra and all the staff here are quick to greet you like you have been coming here for years. They are all helpful and make it easy to navigate through all of the beers offered and brewed on site. They currently have a hash tag series IPA that goes great with the Uncle Sam Burger Medium rare. The fries are excellent as well. I highly recommend getting here and trying all the beers and all of the delicious food.
We had a surprise 70th Birthday party in the Malt Room at Brown’s on Saturday 9/13. From the planning stage with Nora thru the 4 hour event every thing was perfect and I mean everything from the cool space, the food and the excellent attention and service by the staff. I would definitely contact Brown’s team again for an event and highly recommend them to anyone.
Loved this place! Our bartender was awesome and the atmosphere is very cool— we decided not to sit outside because it was hot, but the back patio looked great, too. And the food was so good. We will go out of our way to stop here again.
Food was good. Outside porch was good. Server Grace and bus girl Angelina were both super sweet.
Spoke with Maddie in making a reservation for 10. She was fantastic. Friendly and courteous. Erin R. was our server. Fantastic. Friendly. Excellent service. She told me up front that there was already a gratuity added in because of the size of the party... honesty, what a novel concept. And I absolutely added a gratuity on top of it for her amazing job performance.
We sat outside. Nice view. I had short rib tacos, my husband had uncle Sam burger. Both were VERY good!
We hosted an event in the Hudson Room with about 30 guests, and it was a fantastic experience! Niki was incredibly helpful with scheduling and planning the event, making everything smooth and stress-free. Maddy, our server, went above and beyond—she was the absolute best! The food and drink selection was impressive, and everything was delicious. This venue is perfect for gatherings, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience!
Excellent food, great beer and cocktails, and friendly service. Highly recommend!
Huge shoutout to Maddie, our amazing waitress at my sister in law's wedding reception at Browns Brewery in Albany! She went above and beyond, ensuring our celebration was seamless and stress-free. Her attention to detail, warm smile, and exceptional service made our special day truly unforgettable. Thanks, Maddie, for making our wedding reception an unforgettable experience! 5 stars isn't enough – you deserve a standing ovation! 🙌💫"
I enjoyed good time. Server was kind and recommeded good beers. Brown Lager was very fresh and light taste. I ordered three dishes, wing was very good. I asked half buffalo and half plain. It was not salty and well seasoned. Clam dish was little bit bitter but it’s ok. Burger was good! Atmosphere was fun and nice. Everybody talked and enjoyed their beer.
Their service is amazing. My Favourite is Reuban Sandwich with corned beef briskets.. Just loving it. Portions are large, I can assure that one dish will be more than enough to fill your belly. For two people it will cost around $50 for dinner. This place is usually filled with people. If it is a friday evening or weekend, you should bare with the huge crowd. It will take at least 15-20 minutes for you to get a table, (without reservations of course) specially in the summer. I think Wednesday is the best day if you prefer a calm atmosphere. I love the ambience. It has a rustic, yet modern theme. I bought a cocktail (Permanganate and orange mule) It has a refreshing color and a sweet, savoury, warm taste, but I think if it had a stronger alcohol hint, it would be better. Have visited two times and will continue to do so in the future.
First time going during hockey game layover. The best wings I've had + O-Rings and Buffalo Wrap. Will make the journey here over and over. Well done! Cheers
Fun place to grab a drink & meal. Nice environment to unwind. Love the location. We went here to have a drink, but it was an added bonus to get a stamp for the Capital Craft Beverage Trail passport. We split a pretzel, they are huge and big enough to share! Great place, we would definitely visit again!
Tasty food and priced right. My son and I tried the Fish and Chips, it was a large portion, and we loved it! The order took awhile to come but I'm guessing people in the country don't "rush" on these kind of things. The setting of the place is rustic with old brewery theme design. Seats are available indoors and outside which overlooks the Hudson River.
Brown's helped us host a beautiful rehearsal dinner for 30. The gluten free buffet menu is really fantastic! Although only some guests required the GF menu, EVERYONE thought the food was truly delicious! Niki and Ellie were incredibly thoughtful and hard-working. Would highly recommend for a group function or individual dining!
My first time back since the pandemic. I was quite thrilled with the sweet potato fries, which were cooked perfectly! My only concern was with the patio umbrella at our table. There was no washer on the bottom so everytime the wind blew the umbrella nearly flew out. It could really injure someone if it got loose.
We have made numerous trips to Troy in the past and try different places to eat with each visit. This was our first time at Browns. The menu selection was great with numerous vegetarian options that were not only delicious but creative. The beer selection was small but eclectic with brews we had not heard of. The service was excellent and attentive. Great place for a couple or a group. We definitely recommend this place to others. A great addition to the downtown Troy area
This was a great spot to hit, and one I’d happily return to. The menu was large with so many choices that it honestly took a minute to decide—always a good problem to have. Whether you’re craving something hearty or just a classic comfort dish, there’s something for everyone. The beer selection was just as impressive, with plenty of options brewed in-house. You can really taste the care and creativity that goes into each pour, making it the perfect place to grab a flight and sample a few. Between the food, the beer, and the lively atmosphere, this spot checks all the boxes for a relaxed and satisfying outing.
Excellent deck by the river, perfect for dinner and drinks on a warm night. I shared the nachos with family and ordered the steak for myself. The nachos were pretty good, we would have liked more chili on them but we enjoyed them. It was a great size for sharing, the 4 of us all had plenty. The beers are delicious too! I really loved my sour raspberry beer (can't remember the name). Good casual spot.
Great local spot. Everything I have tried on the menu has been great so far. Also a good selection of beers. Definitely check it out
Amazing menu selection! Catered to my allergies, the way browns is setup the waitstaff can focus on your family and food is provided by bussers in uniform who also are happy to help you if something is missing - excellent service by Vito!! They’re polite and check in! They had a party of 20 when we were there for dinner and not one minute did we wait for anything! Well done flawless delivery! Our waitress was so sweet and brought sauces out for my family to test so I didn’t get exposed to allergies which, did in fact save me from an attack. Above and beyond staff care for their clients!! It’s not just a restaurant it’s a whole family fun dinner vibe. I’ve been here before alone sat at the bar for dinner and food also identical service! More restaurants should be this way. Try their home made root beer my daughter loved it. We got steak and a burger. So much food for being home.
We visited here many years ago and it was so nice to see that the quality of the food and the great ambiance was still spot on. The pulled pork nachos were a meaning themselves. The grilled wings were perfection. Everybody in our party loved it! Hope we go back again soon.
Lovely evening event in the Hudson room upstairs. We were able to decorate in a simple, elegant fall theme. Staff was attentive, responsive and pleasant, food was excellent - guests were surprised it was more than basic bar food. We had a buffet and a 2 hour bar tab, worked very well to enable lots of mingling, but with seating for everyone, too. The atmosphere was just right, a combination of the social quality of a bar but still a private space. Highly recommend for events. Many thanks to Nicki for managing the event and to Jeff for attending to all of us.

Excellent food, amazing friendly staff, I enjoyed my time here. Attended an event at their Revolution Hall event space as well. Love that it is along the Hudson River.

Bathrooms need to be updated or deep cleaned, but the atmosphere is nice, the staff were great. Food was good, but it's pricey for what you get. However, these are the times we're living in. Would go back. I would like to see more GF options especially concerning their wings, but it is a brewery.
Stopped in for a quick bite to eat, service and food was great. On street parked right out front. Good portion size, the chips were a bit greasy but good. My seafood chowder was good, had salmon in it which I don't care for but that's my fault for not asking ahead of time. Great beer selection. They have GF rolls if desired.
Stopped to have some wings (Thursday wing night) the wings were $1.00 each and according to the waitress you are forbidden to take any home with you because it’s such a great special?? Not sure why that is. The wings were good (grilled) and bleu cheese dressing was $1.00 extra. I felt the service was not friendly at all I went to Ryan’s wake next door the night before fire and that was very nice and the service was 10x more friendly We sat outside which was very nice.
Great watering hole. Friendly staff and excellent beer selection. Perfect place to gather with friends before or after and RPI game.
A great local Hometown feel in this downtown brew pub. They have a full bar on the first floor with some limited seating dining hall. They have an outdoor deck on the first floor as well and a full second floor with additional dining. The food is always made to order and very delicious. They brew a wide selection of beers several of which I'm proud to say our favorites of mine. Excellent for a night out with friends or dinner with the family. The service is always quick and friendly. There can be a wait as it is a popular place. The prices are very good for the quality received. Parking can be a challenge as they do not have a dedicated parking lot, you must find on-street parking in the downtown city environment. There is a public parking lot a short walk away.
Have not been here in a long time. I had the burger and fries . It was good. They have a large selection of beer and with good weather, you can go outside at the back of the restaurant on a large deck. Parking is tough in front but there is a lot on a lower level in the back .
Spacious like a hangar! Brickface interior walls with politically themed artwork. Many proprietary beers on tap, all delicious. The food sampled during this review did not impress — the patron directly next to me ordered the same item and said the same — but I would gladly sample other items next time. Very friendly employees, from the hosts to the waitresses. ATM on site, and the brewery sells merchandise like sweatshirts and caps. The Revolution Hall within is leased to big events and can accommodate around 300 people.
Great staff, very tasty food. Do NOT order the Polish Platter, McDonald hash browns for ‘potato pancakes’ & pirogues were Mrs. T’s…. Otherwise every thing else was VERY enjoyable. Will definitely be back.
We were here on a weeknight dinner for the view of the Hudson River. We parked in the free lot next to the building and came up the stairs in the back. We were seated right away on their back patio without any wait. Service was good though a bit slow. They were busy and our food came out slow as well. We did enjoy the huge crispy fish sandwich with fries, cheeseburger with onion rings, and German plate.
A busy Saturday. Unpaid parking available off street, the back door entrance/important people entrance 😉. Seated timely, brief wait for a very pleasant and welcoming waitress. Food was served hot and fresh. Beers were delightful and also a good selection to choose from. Belly full and satisfied. Definitely a return visit, when I do manage to head this direction.
I recently had the opportunity to dine at Brown's Brewing in Troy, and I must say, the location is absolutely stunning. Overlooking the beautiful Hudson River, the restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating, making it a perfect spot for enjoying a meal with family and friends. The ambiance is inviting, and the seating arrangements are well thought out, providing a comfortable experience. Now, let's talk about the food and beer – both were exceptional! The menu features a variety of delicious options that cater to different tastes, and the craft beers are some of the best I've had. It's clear that the kitchen and brewing team take pride in their offerings, and it truly enhances the dining experience. However, I did encounter some issues with the service that I feel compelled to mention. There seemed to be a lack of coordination between the reservation desk and the seating arrangements. Despite seeing several empty tables that were not reserved, we had to wait 45 minutes to be seated. This was frustrating, especially since it appeared that other guests who arrived after us were served much more quickly. While I want to emphasize that my experience may not reflect the restaurant as a whole, I did feel that the service was somewhat biased. Again, I want to clarify that I am not suggesting any intentional discrimination, but it was disheartening to witness a disparity in service. Regardless, I chose to leave a 20% tip because I wanted to focus on the positive aspects of the meal and leave with good memories. Overall, while the food and atmosphere at Brown's Brewing are fantastic, the service left something to be desired. Unfortunately, this experience has led me to decide that it will be my last visit. I hope they can address these issues in the future, as the potential for a great dining experience is certainly there.
I have been here at least 10 times over the past 10 years and it’s always solid. I seek out their cherry raz beer which is outstanding! The ambiance is great too. Indoors, they have a bar and dining area downstairs and more dining upstairs. I had my engagement dinner and graduation dinner upstairs over in the past and it was great! Love their outdoor patio area as well. My husband and I came on a Friday evening but still got seated right away outside. We shared the artichoke dip, I had the Moroccan tuna and my hubby had the short rib tacos. 1 star was lost because surprisingly the Moroccan tuna was very bland. It was encrusted in sesame seeds and tasted like…. Nothing. I will admit I don’t know what Moroccan food is “famous” for or what to expect but I just imagined in my head something exotic, maybe a little spicy or something and I didn’t get that. We’ll definitely be back, I’ll just skip the tuna next time.
I wish Brown's had been here when I was a student at RPI, but I'm glad I found them as an alumnus. We went there for dinner this evening with two classmates and had a wonderful time. \n\nMy wife had …

I've been going to Brown's for almost a decade. It has been my favorite place to grab a beer and a bite. Their burgers are top notch. My all time favorite appetizer has always been their pretzels, …
The location is beautiful and they have a great outdoor deck overlooking the Hudson, but the indoors is kind of odd (like I walked past the bathroom and 8 tables to get to the server station, which actually looked more like a cash register for merch), street parking seems challenging during the week, and I couldn't tell which door to go in from the street. The server was nice! We did have a whole host of people drop off our food and drinks. I thought my Uncle Sam burger was delicious. My husband got the Buffalo Mac Burger and said it was just mac and cheese on a burger with no Franks on it at all. We tried the pretzel appetizer, and it was unique! I've never had a pretzel made from a stout before. The drinks were disappointing, though. We both had their Blackberry Lemonade summer cocktail, and it was just weak lemonade with vodka, and I assume some kind of blackberry juice turned it pink but you couldn't taste it. I'd be willing to go back and try again, but I won't be running there.
Nice place for Troy I guess. Decent beer. Meh food. Ok wings, Buffalo were better than the bourbon. (Skip the breaded option) Steak was good as was it's side dishes of rice and veg. Spiedies were very bland, all white meat. Worst French Dip sandwich I ever had.
Our waitress seemed to have far too many tables. Service was very slow. Never had the opportunity to order additional drinks because she never came back after our food was served until she brought the bill.
Food was ok. Crowded and loud, which is understandable on a Friday. But our service was poor. The server hardly said anything to us, just raised her eyebrows and waited for us to order. It was strange because she was friendly with the folks around us. It was just a bland experience with service so bad I was motivated to write a negative review on Google. Sorry babe.
Came for a weekend dinner while in the area. The atmosphere is great. Server was nice but inattentive. Food took forever and came out both cold and the steak was overcooked. My chicken sandwich tasted like it had sat for awhile before being served and was overcooked and chewy. Overall not the best.
Nice staff, but waited 1 hour for food. When it came I was given a dish different from what I ordered. Apparently the dish I ordered was on last week’s specials menu-but they gave me last week’s menu…

Based on reviews I decided to come here. I ordered chicken tacos. It was a disappointment. It was more of an open wrap kind of flavor. All fresh but not close to the Mexican flavor. It came with …
Slow service, an hour for some onion rings and French onion soup. Waters empty for a hot minute.
Unbelievable attitude when we came with our dogs. Google and bring Fido definitely say that Brown’s brewery allows dogs. But the hostess was very mean and rude and flat out said no while we’re looking at a French bulldog (a service dog?) right in front of us.
My fiance and I went here for dinner tonight for our first time and we were less than satisfied with our experience. It took over 20 minutes for a server to come to our table to take our drink order, then another 10-15 minutes for our food order. We were never asked if we wanted more water or drinks, and any time we needed to ask for something it took forever to get their attention, as they just kept walking by us. It just seemed like he wanted to be anywhere but our table. Maybe because there were only two of us. The food was ok, though my burger was very greasy and kept sliding out of the bun. I did really like the sweet potato fries. Overall we ended up being there over an hour and a half for just the two of us, and most of our time there was spent waiting and thirsty.
Recently went to a wedding there, abd the dinner was the worst I ever had. They told us the steak comes out medium rare. I was medium rare three hours before it was served. Could not cut it and could not chew it. It was disgusting. I was not the only one who got served a steak like this Appetizers were very good. Glad I filled up on them
I wish I could recommend having events here but I had a horrible experience dealing with the events coordinator Erica. They threw away the food we paid for without saying a “last call” or any warning to my guests. Multiple guests and myself (celebrating my baby shower) did not get to eat or didn’t get to eat as much as they would have liked. I left a plate of french toast to finish when I got the chance and that was thrown away too. When Erica was approached with this issue, she was extremely rude, unprofessional and difficult to speak to when I asked for compensation for the trays of food that were thrown out or new food to be made. She said she shouldn’t be “attacked” yet it was her lack of consideration for the thousands of dollars spent that was the issue in the first place. They offered food from the restaurant to go but that was not even an eighth of the cost of what we paid, and I did not even receive everything I ordered. Erica also mentioned the cost of the comped restaurant food in an annoyed way, yet again was not even close to the cost of what they threw away alone. They also allowed random people walking into my private event space without consideration for the gifts being opened to use the restroom, one of my guests had to make them leave. Only positive was the bartender was lovely and great at her job. This business is money hungry, unprofessional and made a pregnant woman cry on what should be one of the happiest days. DO NOT PLAN ANYTHING HERE!!!
Really disappointed in browns tonight My fiance and I often get salmon from here, and called in an order for it tonight, 9/26. We checked on the vegetable and was advised it was green beans, with a replacement of asparagus if they run out. We were happy with either option and placed our order. When we picked it up, the order was made with snap peas, which my partner is allergic to. We tried calling, with no one answering, so returned to the restaurant. The hostess was incredibly polite, helpful, and gave great service. The manager, however, was short with both my fiance and me, and honestly rude. She returned after going to the kitchen temporarily to say that she was going to make our meal without any vegetables. I declined, since we paid for these items and would like our meal made as ordered. My fiance inquired about the vegetables mentioned when weordered, only for the manager to snap at her saying they'd run out. When I asked if there was any other options considering just the salmon wasn't the meal we'd already been charged for, she offered us cauliflower. We accepted and proceeded to wait for our food to be remade. About 20-30 minutes later, the manager returned only to say that there was a "language barrier" in the kitchen and they'd made us double cauliflower, no potatoes. She did not offer to fix it, nor any form of compensation for 2 meals that were far from what we'd originally ordered. At this point, it had been almost 2 hours since we'd first ordered our food, so we just took the food and left. Upon getting home, we found the cauliflower is COMPLETELY unseasoned and undercooked. As a manager, she should have ensured quality service, and she herself had terrible attitude and service, and seems to be unable to manage her back of house.
