My boyfriend had the Chilean Sea Bass and said it was delicious. He also had the steamed clams before the bass and said that was great as well. He does not rave too often about food, but normally says things are just "OK." I had the Asparagus, and they were good, but there are not too many options for vegetarians. There are salads but no creamy dressings. The view is very pretty from the deck, and it was a warm night to sit outside. They also have points that I recommend since it took $8 dollars off our bill!

On 10/7, we were initially worried as the restaurant looked a bit slow, but from that moment on, our experience was flawless. Our server, Joe, was attentive and knowledgeable. We started with cocktails—the Cancer Awareness and the Black Pearl—both were delicious. For appetizers, the fried calamari and grilled artichokes were fantastic. Dinner exceeded expectations: the lobster risotto was filled with perfectly cooked lobster and creamy, flavorful rice, while the fried shrimp were the best we've ever had. To finish, the brownie dessert with homemade cookies and cream ice cream was mind-blowing. A perfect dining experience!

Visited Sea Smoke for drinks and tapas Tuesday evening. The place is upscale with a very cool vibe. We sat at the bar and enjoyed perfectly blended martinis and a gimlets prepared exactly how we asked for. We ordered the octopus. It was done to perfection. Also had to try the ricotta bread. Again, it did not disappoint. The service was outstanding! We will definitely be back.

Beautiful place, all decked up for holidays. Very festive. We had an excellent dinner made to perfection. Dishes came out beautifully presented, and they tasted heavenly. The service was spot on. We were not pushed and rushed to order, and all of our questions were answered. Scallops with black risotto, pared with New Zealand sauvignon blanc were excellent!

We had a fantastic dinner on the Sea Smoke riverfront patio! Our waitress was friendly and attentive. Our appetizers, entrées, and dessert were all delicious and came out quickly. The outdoor ambiance was perfect on a hot summer night. We will definitely be coming back! We recommend making a reservation.

This place is great. Staff goes above and beyond. Really nice and friendly. All the main dishes are excellent. They changed up their menu and seating since the last I was there but that was more than 7 months ago. Got a lot of appetizers this time. The lighting is very low in the dinning room and the seafood tower pic came out super blurry. But highly recommend it.

Mixed Review. The food was really good. We shared the PEI Oysters. They were excellent. The tuna tartare appetizer was superb. The burger was probably the best I've had. The caramelized onions added to the flavor. It was done perfect. The fries that came with it with nothing special. The side of mash potatoes was so creamy and yummy. The shrimp appetizer with the bread was only ok. A personal taste. I did not like the sauce but shrimp was cooked and great. He is the not so good. We wanted to hit the happy hour at the bar. Both the inside and outside bars were full so we were seated. Later to find out we could have been seated at a bar table. We sat around the tree - a bench seat and a chair. The chairs are not tall enough for the table. The bench seat was higher. I had to lift my arms to put them on table. I am of average height and weight and found it very uncomfortable. Our waitress was great but the bar tender seemed off. We had to send back 2 drinks. I also had to get up and go ask for extra silverware. There was a bit of confusion btwn waitress and bus person. Disappointed we could not get food off happy hour menu as that is what we wanted to try. I will return and try again for the happy hour. Lots of people there and the outside deck looks great.

So happy to have found such a beautifully designed restaurant in Albany! As a seafood lover, I truly enjoyed every dish here. The food was fresh and delicious — especially the Garlic Butter Clams in White Wine Sauce, which were aromatic, tender, and memorable. While the service was average, the overall experience was still enjoyable and definitely worth a try.

Sea Smoke has ample parking with easy restaurant access. Arriving early, we were cheerfully greeted and escorted to the bar while our table was readied. Seas of the Day and Siren’s Sunset cocktails were readily enjoyed. Escorted to our table, with the Hudson River and Troy in view, we sat, ordered wines and Maine Lunch, then read their menu. Sara returned quickly with our drinks and later described the evening’s specials. It was an impressive array of specials. Recommendations were given, all were the most expensive dishes on their menu. The al fresco area and the entire restaurant quickly filled. It was a perfect evening for outdoor dining. Their wait staff was omnipresent and thorough. We opted for the PEI and Maine oysters, all succulent and tasty. Why Washinton and Oregon oysters, with recent FDA and state warnings, were on their raw bar offerings was puzzling. Their tuna tartare, Chilean Sea Bass and Ahi Tuna were our favorites. Excellent preparations, sizeable portions and very savory. The Maine Lobster Risotto, ehh, as was their Ricotta Bread. Overall, an enjoyable dining experience in an eye catching restaurant.

Overall, we enjoyed everything that we've ordered and the price point seemed fair. Table service was courteous and appropriate for the setting. The wait for our order was long as the place was quite busy. It would've been fine if the music wasn't so loud that it was impossible to have a conversation. It got louder over time, which made me feel somewhat uncomfortable as. I wish it's a little quieter so we could properly appreciate the food and enjoy a good conversation. I would consider returning for the food for special events if they have an option for a quieter seating.

First time here. The place is beautiful and sitting outside was fantastic. The service was distracted-friendly but not helpful. At this price point, the suggestions should be well rehearsed and thought out. The fried jumbo shrimp meal was good, but the coleslaw was inedible. It was as if an entire bottle of Tabasco was accidentally poured into it. The server never returned to discuss, so I mentioned it to the bus boy and he was not equipped to have a real conversation about anything. Oysters were delicious, dining companion had a salad with salmon that was very good. Lobster roll is market price but pricing is not listed on daily card, so I skipped. In the bathroom it’s advertised as being available on grub hub so some investigation led me to see it was $41. That would have been a better choice than the shrimp. Go for the atmosphere—get a wine and an app and enjoy and then go somewhere else for dinner.

This was my second time coming to Sea smoke, the first time I was highly pleased with their lovely customer service, although the prices were a bit higgh I had no complaints. I recently decided to come again and the experience wasn’t so great. Our waiter was literally the same person we had before so this second time around she came off very rude, and racist. I say that to say she didn’t check on us as much, we ordered a app which was the shrimp and we had espresso martinis, after that she stated “will that be all or are you guys having dinner”? It’s dinner time, why would we come out just for a appetizer? That was very weird! Anyways we proceeded to order the KING CRAB Spaghetti. 4/10 RIP OFF, first of all there was absolutely no KING CRAb! Its literally Snow Crab I later found out the next day as I reheated my food & they’re 2 plates cost $92!!! Imagine paying $45 for King Crab and you get Snow Crab instead. Over all the experience was very poor I even complained to the manager and she literally didn’t care! Compared to the Snow crab pieces I had in my plate, my boyfriend literally had none! & so we were told the King Crab that’s actually Snow Crab is measured by the plates, fair enough, needless to say I will never come spend my hard earned money here & if you’re black you shouldn’t waste your time neither!!!!!!! Horrible experience! Racism isn’t dead!!! She put Thanj you on our receipt to try to act as if she’s not racist & still got no tip! I take customer service very seriously when I’m my money, imagine me tip a racist server?

We chose this restaurant to celebrate family birthdays over brunch, expecting a memorable experience—but unfortunately, it fell far short. The main menu was disappointingly restricted and overpriced, with prices seemingly more reflective of the waterfront view than the food or service quality. Seated outside, I turned my chair to enjoy the scenery and was repeatedly bumped into by staff, without so much as a glance or an apology?? The lack of attentiveness continued throughout—my water was never refilled, and our server was notably disengaged despite a quiet Sunday crowd. Most concerning was the hygiene. Our meals were brought not by our server, but by someone who had just been petting a guest's dog moments earlier!!? As for the food itself: a burger (ordered medium rare with bacon), an omelette, and a salad all arrived looking like afterthoughts—dry, missing ingredients, and lacking the freshness we saw delivered to other tables! Though the cocktails were a highlight and the birthday guest did receive a complimentary fudge treat, the overall experience raised more red flags than reasons to return. It’s hard not to notice when your table is the only one of color and your service feels less-than. I truly hope that was coincidence—but for those considering a visit: come for the view, but manage your expectations... and perhaps bring your own water.

First time here with my lady for her birthday. The food was good and so was the ambiance but for a fine dining restuarant, the service could have been way better. The waiter was attentive but lacked energy when conversing with us about the menu. He didn't offer us the soup of day ect. After we paid our bill, my lady and I decided to sit and talk for abit. I heard the waiter ( yes, the one that waited our table ) complain about how he got no tip to another staff member in passing. The manager soon after also came over and asked us how the service was because we left no tip. The bill totaled $200. I have never experienced being pressured to leave a tip. It was very unprofessional and my lady and I will not be returning. P.S the waiter's demeanor also changed when he gave us our receipt. He was very quiet, distance and was not courteous at all. This reservation was made for my ladies birthday and they didn't even give us the celebratory dessert but sure added it to the receipt.
