The burger is superb. Google maps doesn’t make justice for what the place looks like. I would recommend
I'm just gonna go full 6 star on this one! Wait.. can't.... I had never eaten here and work took us for lunch. This has to be the best burger I've had since moving to the area in August 2025. It was very good. However.. the service was stellar and the apps?? Oh holy heck! We had the mahi nachos and the jalapeno poppers. Not certain which I liked more, but both were AMAZING!!!!!! Will be back for sure!!!!!!!
Just wanted to give BoA a plug for their fish and chips. I know, I know, these are almost as prosaic as a hamburger, but these were flawless. Perfectly cooked, lightly beer battered Pacific snapper, plus all the tartar sauce I needed with about a teaspoon left over. plus hot and crispy fries. To me, everything tasted EXACTLY how it should taste. BoA really nailed it, which I will testify is rare. My wife's cauliflower crust GF pizza 'shroom pie' was also excellent. The place is busy, noisy and crowded; seating was fast; our server was friendly and knew her business; service was fast and accurate. It's Truckee, so the food and drinks are relatively expensive - we got four lunches, a coffee and three cocktails: $176 before tip.
Bar of America is a winner! The location in downtown Truckee can't be beat - it's so fun to walk around town before or after your meal. Plus, there's plenty of seating so you don't have to worry about squeezing in. The menu has something for everyone - yes, there's classic bar fare, but they also have tons of elevated entrees and appetizers that were all delicious. The extensive wine list is impressive too, with great options to pair with whatever you order. Service was personable and made us feel right at home. It's the kind of place that works whether you want a casual drink and snack or a full meal. Definitely a go-to spot when you're in Truckee!
First time - had the Brisket Mac n Cheese…(told it was new on the menu) and a couple of fine cocktails. Food was absolutely AMAZING and very favorable. 5 stars! The only issue I had (even told Amy, our server)….serve this on a different plate…get it out of the bowl, as my brisket was swimming a bit in the cheese sauce…I’d order this item over and over…but would request it on a plate!! Kudos!!
Took the Harley round Lk. Tahoe, which was great, stopped n here 4 a bite, R waitress (Nat) was total aw'sum'ness... it started 2 pour rain, we were under a table umbrella, she stood rite out n it totaled care of us. Food was great, a'lil pricey fo' sure. But we'll b back b'cause of her... recommended
We loved our brunch stop at Bar of America in Truckee! We were seated on the patio and had an awesome experience. Our server was so sweet and fun to talk to, and our food was really tasty. I loved my Roasted Turkey and Brie sandwich... The fries were great and the sandwich itself was loaded with turkey. I'm a huge fan of thanksgiving style sandwiches and this one certainly did not disappoint. My family also enjoyed their biscuits and gravy and their eggs Benedict. If you're like us and were just making a quick stop in Truckee for a quick bite to eat or if you're staying longer, then Bar of America is a really solid place to check out. The prices might be higher than what you'd pay in Reno, but the vibe is great and the food is solid.
🍷 A Sunday to Remember at Bar of America – Truckee’s Hidden Gem Beautiful sunny Sunday, nearly 200 of us gathered for a private lunch event at Bar of America, and I can confidently say—it was an unforgettable experience from the very first sip to the last smile. As we stepped through the doors, we were greeted not just with warmth, but with a welcoming glass of wine—a beautiful touch that instantly set the tone for the afternoon. The vibe was vibrant yet cozy, with the rustic charm of historic Truckee echoing through the wooden beams, ambient lighting, and friendly smiles from the staff. You could feel the love and energy they pour into every guest experience. The food? Phenomenal. Fresh. Flavorful. Thoughtfully prepared. There was a wide variety of options, and I was especially impressed by the number of healthy yet satisfying dishes on the menu—something that can be hard to come by when feeding a group this size. Every plate that came out of the kitchen was beautifully presented, from the farm-fresh salads to the perfectly cooked mains. People couldn’t stop raving about it. The staff handled our large group flawlessly, serving with grace, speed, and genuine hospitality. It’s not easy to cater to nearly 200 people and still make it feel personal—but they nailed it. Every guest felt seen, welcomed, and cared for. Beyond the incredible dining experience, Bar of America is perfectly located for those looking to explore the charming town of Truckee. After lunch, many of us wandered the quaint streets, enjoyed the local shops, and soaked in the mountain town atmosphere. Whether you’re a foodie, a history buff, or just someone who loves discovering unique places—Truckee has something for you. Follow @ytbossbae for travel & food experience ✨ in the heart of Downtown Truckee, a charming, historic mountain town nestled in the Sierra Nevada. Bar of America is located right on Donner Pass Road, surrounded by boutique shops, cozy coffee houses, artisan galleries, and locally-owned businesses that give the area such a unique and inviting character. After our event, many of us strolled through the neighborhood, taking in the fresh mountain air and exploring the quaint streets of downtown. If you’ve never been, think: old Western town meets elevated mountain culture. You’ll find: • ❄️ Outdoor adventure shops for hiking, biking, or ski gear (depending on the season) • ☕ Cozy coffee spots and bakeries with homemade pastries • 🛍️ Locally made art, clothing, and decor in the many artisan shops • 🌲 Breathtaking views of the Sierra Nevada mountains • 🚂 A glimpse into Truckee’s rich railroad and Gold Rush history There’s a nostalgic feel to Truckee, but with modern-day charm. It’s the kind of place where people say hello to strangers, dogs roam happily alongside their owners, and every corner feels like a story waiting to unfold.
We ordered burgers and their burger and fries was very good! I also ordered some cocktails and it was ok, but i dont know if I would be able to justify $20 cocktail for such small glass honestly. In addition to that, we went on Friday night so there was some ruffle going on. It's pretty interesting to see but the place was very crowded and loud, though it did give a lively vibes. The servers were all very nice too! all in all, we had pretty good and memorable experience. Ah, and we also ordered some apple crumbles and boy I love that crumbles! the apples were a bit too tangy for me but I think it complements the crumble really well.
For them being full and walking in we only waited about 5 min to be seated. Then our waitress Rachel was excellent. She was awesome and definitely took care of us and made sure we were always good. Even my 10 year old son said something about her service and I had to make sure she made it into the review. Thank you Rachel
I hadn’t been here in over 10 years and my memory of the place wasn’t super positive. I am so glad we tried it again for lunch because it was really good and Amy our server was delightful. We had our dog with us and needed to sit outside. They were totally prepared for outdoor diners despite it being January with snow all around. But the sun was out and we were soon joined by other diners both with and without dogs I had the ahi tuna poke nachos which were delicious and the perfect entree size for me. My husband loved the blackened fish tacos. We split the apple crisp which once again was the perfect size for us to share and end our meal with a sweet treat. The bathroom was clean. This was the perfect place to stop after waking down from the Tahoe Donner trail, getting some sustenance before walking the 1.6 miles back to our car.
We were a little skeptical but very pleasantly surprised. My only qualm was the sweet butter with the sweet bread was not my favorite and the dining chairs paired with the booth seats are taller so when you are sitting on the booth you are significantly shorter than your group members sitting in the chairs across from you.
Good food and service. A popular yet noisey place. The dessert shown was great.
I ordered the Shrooms Pie and it was absolutely delicious – perfectly baked with a rich, earthy flavor. I paired it with a Farmer’s Garage Dweller Hazy IPA, which was excellent . I also tried a margarita, which was just okay – not bad, but nothing special compared to the rest. Overall, great food and drink experience. I’d definitely come back for the pizza and the beer.
Took my boyfriend out for his birthday donner here. I have eaten here many times before- unfortunately the rib eye was horrible, for 60 bucks I expect tender steak- it was tough- and had no flavor-medium rare as ordered but not a 60 steak- BF ordered prime rib which was good but had no flavor- Prime meat should have flavor- neither cut did. rather unfortunate- On a good note the Jalepeno poppers were excellent as always.
I decided to try the All-American Burger with an American Wagyu patty. It took around 30 minutes to arrive, which was understandable since it was a busy day and the restaurant was full. Because of that, I was expecting a great burger. Unfortunately, when it arrived, it was tasteless and dry—very plain, as you can see in the picture. That was really disappointing, especially considering the price: $24 for a burger and $11 for a tap beer. At that price point, you expect quality. I regret not trusting the previous reviews that mentioned the same issue. Taking everything into consideration (price vs. food quality), I do not recommend it. The place itself is beautiful and fancy, but that’s about it.
We had a long wait and the restaurant was not full. There was apparently a lack of help working today. Our waitress was super nice but put in the wrong order for our drinks. We waited until after the appetizers to receive our silverware and napkins despite asking multiple times we were told our waitress was super busy. We tried to empathize and were happy to receive the appetizers, but the onion rings were burnt, soggy, and horrible. The soup was lackluster at best and we tried giving them our empathy for being understaffed but when the bill came out and we were charged for food and drinks, we did not order we quickly brought it to the waitresses attention. She was flustered and tried telling us that we had the drinks despite not ordering them and that’s why she charged us. The fact of the matter was we were given the wrong drinks had several sips and tried returning them, but there was no one to help! The manager came over, flustered and angry. He tried telling us that we were given the order we made and when we tried to explain to him it was wrong, he disputed it with us. He was argumentative and kept pointing the Bill in my face. I quickly asked him to stop and in return he asked us to leave. I think this manager named Nick was also having a bad day and he was ill prepared for his job, made our visit extremely uncomfortable and should not be in the service industry! He is a disgrace to this business and I hope he gets some training soon. I would recommend going to another restaurant and saving yourself the hassle of trying to find service in an understaffed environment with horrible management!
