The portions are huge, the bread is handmade and the toast is fantastic. This is stick to your bones good eats.
Great little restaurant, bit of a wait but good food. Fun environment with lots of lumberjack themed decor, as the name would imply.
Great breakfast spot. Get your eggs and toast just how you like them, and take in old photographs of a once bustling lumber industry.
Amazing burger, fresh local beef, homemade fries, good rustic homey atmosphere. Will be back again and will probably be the new go-to.
Homie I use to live there for 15 years in 70 s it's the same food is just the same great service friendly fair price I miss thare and wish I could move there
Been coming here 40 years. Always good food, large portions and great service
Great breakfast and better memories each time I go there.
Who doesn't want breakfast all day. Friendly cozy, and Great food you can not finish.. Got to go..
Big portions, great diner food. We try to stop whenever we drive through the area.
Nice, cozy place. Good food, reasonable prices, friendly service, and a nice rustic atmosphere.
Great food and service, large portions. Great stop off point.
Love love love this place!!!! Food, service and coffee were all amazing! Highly recommend!
My favorite breakfast in Tupper Lake. Please open back up soon.. miss this place.
Great food. Super nice waitress. Lots of food for the price
Best breakfast ever.Cozy atmosphere, great service and good food!
Food was very good home made bread for there french toast. Some of the best home fries i have ever had. Cant wait to fet back up there.
Best breakfast joint in town. Great fast and friendly service. Toast and home fries are so good that come with enormous omelets.
Every year we stop on our way to Camp, and to look at our sites. So about 4-5 times a year. Always great food and great service. I recommend you stop in and eat at this restaurant.
Great mom and pop diner. if you are looking for lobster or sushi look elsewhere. But if you are looking for a good hearty meal like your mom used to cook you then you found the spot...
I changed my review because I miss this place and I really wish it would come back in some form or another. Miss the Lumberjack.
Ate here for dinner and it was so good we came back for breakfast. Awesome prices. Try to go at off peak hours if you can.
Great rustic breakfast place, normally a line yet service remains fast and friendly. Great comfort food and quite an assortment of antique saws!
Even with Covid-19 restrictions, this restaurant was able to accommodate our team dinner. The food was good, service great. A pleasurable experience.
Very good food and service. You won't go away hungry!
How I missed toasted homemade bread! They have a new cook, who we hope will stay. He knows his business! New owners, too!
Great little place for breakfast. Good food, good portions, good prices. The homemade bread is good as well!
Huge portions of absolutely fantastic food. Decent price, nice people..what more could I ask for
Great breakfast, friendly staff. Pancakes were awesome! Definitely get the Real Maple Syrup!
I haven't been here in ten years. Just as amazing as the first time. Great food.
The food was really good. We enjoyed it very much. Made exactly how we wanted it.
Never disappointing for breakfast. Ruben and tuna melt are amazing. Ask for fries well done.
Loved our breakfast, great service, nice friendly waitress. Good price.
Great cozy place with friendly staff. Hours weren't posted and we unintentionally walked in the door at closing time. Regardless the waitress seated us and they served a family of 4 a delicious meal. Great breakfast food and coffee, waitress was sweet and great with the toddlers.
People are nice. The place is so cute, nice and clean. The food that we ordered are good. Love the French toast and the maple syrup is an A plus. We will surely come back again soon.
If you're looking for a breakfast that's bigger than you are, this is the place for you! We love coming here on Sunday mornings after a weekend of hiking/kayaking in Tupper Lake. Everything is always so good. The pancakes are massive, and the french toast is cooked perfectly. I usually try to have a little of everything because it's so good! I look forward to coming here every time we're in the Adirondacks.
WARNING! There portions of food are huge and pretty good. I was expecting 3 french toast and what I got was still 3 slices but the slices where super big like 3 or 4 times the size of a regular slices of bread. I give them a 10/10 for food!
Delicious! Was in the area for the weekend and stopped for dinner. Ended up doing breakfast for dinner with sausage gravy biscuits, good home fries, and some scrambled eggs. I wish I had taken a picture. If in the area again, I shall return!
First of all the Jack is the #1 place to eat in all of TL. They have great food, huge portions and crazy cheap prices, especially in 2021. They’ve also been in business forever. Secondly the owners close relative recently passed at the old age of 34 & I haven’t seen it open since; condolences are probably more welcomed then 1 star reviews and complaints….just sayin ;)
Breakfast is always excellent. Staff is polite and attentive. Homemade bread never disappoints! Prices and portions are fantastic. Would recommend.
We had a very good breakfast, plenty to eat. The service was good and the place clean and spacious. We'll go again the next time we're in town and probably for supper.
We always stop here when we are in the area. Great family diner! Food is always good and very friendly staff. Be patient with them they are short staffed just like every other business in NY.
Ultimate spot for huge portions of "diner" food for a great value too. We make it a habit to start our first day of a trip to Tupper by filling up here (I usually do The Loader) and won't have to eat again until dinner.
The Lumberjack is our favorite breakfast spot in the world. Whenever we come back to the ADK we make sure we plan a trip there. The food is huge and delicious and the service is great. Never change!
Super family friendly...wait staff is really attentive its like walking into your favorite Aunt Betty's house! Welcome!.....comfort food all day!! Homemade bread! Everything is always super yummy! The french toast with real maple syrup is truly titillating to the taste buds!!! Omg! Wish I was there right now or I could get that recipe!!! Good lord! Truly sinful!
Great place to go. Solid recommendation from our hotel. I am on a special diet and our waitress Alex was totally accommodating. My wife had a basic breakfast that was delicious and plentiful. Prices were good. If your hungry get over there before 2pm
Good breakfast, friendly and personable hostess, pleasant atmosphere, reasonable prices, historical decor, convenient location and hours. Right next to the hardware store! What more can you ask for? Lol Seriously though, I'll be back. Oh, the prices listed when i Googled the menu were not correct. That's not their doing. Prices were lower. Under new management possibly.
We stopped in for the first time on the way back home. What a great find. Breakfast could not have been better. The waitress was real friendly and took her time with us. My 4 Egg Western Omelet could not have been better. It came with home fries and a really large order of savory breakfast toast. I can not believe I could get that breakfast for the price we paid. We will be back the next time we are up the Tupper Lake way.
Great food. Alongside a popular snowmobile trail. Our 5 mixed race kids were treated well and loved their pancakes. I had the lumberjack burger. It was great. My wife is having a Rubin and she says it’s very good. Staff was very attentive. Lots of old woodcutting stuff on the walls. Cool old chainsaws. We will be back.
Went here for lunch with my mom during the Flea Market weekend. They were packed to the brim with people. The food took a little longer to get to us than you'd normally expect, but it was fresh and cooked perfectly. No complaints whatsoever from me. The prices were fair and the atmosphere is casual and relaxed. If I lived closer I'd go there all the time for food.
I was scared to eat here, being a person of color/in an interracial relationship. I read a review saying this place was racist. ( as some rural places can be) but my family talked me into going in and I’m glad they did. The waitresses were wonderful. They pretty much seemed color blind. Extremely friendly and helpful. The food was great. (Homemade bread, yum!)
The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. Portion sizes are fantastic. The cooks are great at what they do. If you want a taste of some good old fashioned cooking, stop by the lumberjack inn. Bring your appetite. You won't be disappointed.
Straight up good diner breakfasts, and super friendly place we've been to several times :- )
Food is pretty good, service is great, we here always on our way through.
Good food, quick service, reasonable price. Many locals, got to be good!
Food here is always first rate, but it's a very popular and busy place so you may have a wait, but it's worth it for small town food.
Great breakfast. Would give a 5-star rating but a little on the slow side
Ordered "the stump", which was steak and eggs. I ordered the steak medium rare, and it actually came out like that. Steak was really tasty as well and everything was well cooked and seasoned. We never miss a chance to go to The Lumberjack Inn!
Food was delicious. Waitress remembered us even though we hadn't been there in over a month. Service spot on
Food was delicious! Great inexpensive diner for the whole family. Breakfast available all day. Great pancakes and French toast!
Always enjoy breakfast at The Lumberjack. Good food, large portions, reasonably priced. Eat here everytime we come to Tupper Lake.
Very friendly staff. Housemade bread served with breakfast. Very reasonable prices. Good food in an unassuming place.
Good, hearty old-fashioned breakfast. Huge fluffy pancakes, home-made bread and homefries. Nothing fancy....but tasty and filling.
Great food, the food from two plates fed the 3 of us all day. Taste was excellent.
Awesome breakfast for whole family. No frills local place with great food and good prices.
My family and I were vacationing in the Adirondack's area. We had gone for a hike down the road from the lumberjack inn. Afterwards, We were HUNGRY!!! And new in the Tupper lake town/area. We found the Lumberjack Inn! On google maps, by asking google maps to show restaurants near me.... It's a very relaxed, and inviting atmosphere. They provide a large, and hearty menu! Service was very friendly! and our waitress made us feel very welcome, and at home there. The food was delicious!! And the servings are most definitely fit for a lumberjack's appetite!! I was able to bring home a stuffed container of the rest of my meal! I highly recommend the Lumberjack Inn, my hole family and myself. Very much so enjoyed ourselves to a tramendous meal, at the Lumberjack Inn!!!!💜
Great food. Good prices and service. Very close to 5 stars but they served burnt toast. Fun little local diner.
Homemade bread was so yummy. I loved the turkey club! Was a great place to grab a quick bite to eat after a visit to the wild center. Waitress was super friendly and helpful. Only gave it 4 stars because the prices were a little on the higher end.
Swung in the here on our way through Tupper Lake. We were seated immediately and our server was a young girl who did a really great job. Typical diner fare, and prices were completely reasonable. I got a bacon cheeseburger which was cooked really well fries were also good. The rest of the party got some popcorn chicken and some of the homemade cream of broccoli soup which was pretty decent. If we need to stop by for some food we would definitely swing into the lumberjack again.
The homemade bread is delicious but the wait for our food was way too long. This happened both times I've been here, because of this we most likely won't be returning.
Price: Awesome Food taste: 2 of my friends and myself found them to be quite bland, but as other reviews will mention, the portions were good! (We had ordered a Clam Rolls sandwich, an egg sandwich, a fish sandwich, and a vegetable omelette.) I liked the ambiance and the friendliness of the waitress.
Nice service but the coffee was soo watery and the food was ok. You have to wait a long while for your food
Prices were good, the food not so much. The fries are very greasy and the order was wrong. Also, the waitress forgot to get our order, so everyone that came in after was waited on first. We won’t be stopping again.
Prices are nice and low just like the quality of the food. Breakfast looked great at other tables i had lunch. It did not look or taste great at all. If it wasnt for the cozy environment and cheap prices i would have only gave them 1 star. Will never eat there again.
Breakfast here is awesome, but the food at dinner is just frozen deep fried stuff and its not very good. We try and try again and are usually let down. The staff are helpful and friendly, but sometimes they are under staffed. I heard just last week that they were closed on a Saturday because nobody was there to work it. It's a "landmark" in our small town, wish they would put some effort into making it better or sell it to someone that has a passion for cooking.
Website says open but I'm here now and it's closed. At 1100. If you are going to have a website, you should change the hrs to be updated. I drove 100 miles for breakfast. 😥😔
If you want shity food and shity service ..then this is the place for you .. our family of 5 had watered down coffee ..and our waitress with the long blonde ponytail didn't even check on us ..we had to get up and ask another waitress to get us refills on our horrible coffee ..then as we waited a long time for the bill ..the waitress finally came over dropped the bill and just walked away ...no tip for her on the overpriced cold food and pancakes like cardboard !
Driving through and looking for a good breakfast place. I suggested McDonalds but my wife and I would rather spend our money at a local small business. Drove past the Lumberjack Inn in Tupper Lake. Looked hopping and it had good food reviews. The place was about 2/3 full with a large party of 10 seated and placing order. Alex, our waitress, said they were pretty busy and it might take a little longer to get our breakfast. Right after we came in the place filled to capacity - which was not a whole lot. Alex promptly took our order and kept our coffee mugs full. After about 30 minutes we asked how much longer? Alex said she would check - and then filled our coffee. The kitchen was incredibly slow and Alex said that there was only one cook (at the 45 minute mark) - and then filled our coffee. We started to see order moving out now but noticed people that had gotten there after us were being served. We were at the 1HR mark and Alex came over to deliver our check only to find that we never even had gotten our food. She said that our order should be up soon, and filled our coffee. At the 1Hr and 20 Min mark we gave up as we saw four other groups that arrived after us get served. Another person came over and apologized and said that our order was just now being started (obviously they lost it). She asked if we could wait and then offered to comp our coffee. We told them to just keep it and paid for the pot of coffee they served us. It's too bad because the food looked really good and we had high expectations. Next time if they would have been a little more up front about the wait then we would have gone down the road and I would not have had to write this about a small, locally owned business.
The absolute worst service I’ve ever experienced. The dining area was not even full, took 35 minutes to put an order in. No offer of coffee or water. Another 10 minutes and no coffee. The server was smirking through her story of how they have been open for only a week. We left. Very disrespectful. We got better service from McDonalds down the street.
Very disappointed. My husband and I were looking forward to enjoying a meal at the Lumberjack Inn after spending a day in the area. I had been there with family years ago and was very excited to stop for an afternoon breakfast again. We waited near the door for a few minutes before two waitresses emerged from the back and made their rounds refilling coffees for guests. We weren’t acknowledged (a bit awkward but no big deal) until one of them came over to us and said it would be about a 15 - 20 minute wait, which was not a problem at all. We asked if we should just wait outside and check back or wait in our car and she said she’d find us when seating was available. So we let her know we’d be in our car around the side of the building. Several minutes later, other people pulled up and it appeared they were told there would be a wait as well. They stood outside and were called in around 5 minutes later. We continued to wait for close to 30 minutes before deciding to take our business elsewhere. Definitely not the same welcoming experience from years ago.
We had a party of four and they sat us right away in the half full restaurant. We waited patiently as other tables were seated and served coffee and drinks before any waitress acknowledged us. After 20 minutes we got the attention of the waitress and asked for coffee and she said she'll be right with us. The three tables that came in after us were now getting their food and we were still without anything. After foolishly wasting 40 minutes sitting there without any service we left and went to McDonalds. These people clearly do not know how to run a business let alone a restaurant. Zero stars.
I went here with my parents, and it was really busy on a Tuesday. My Mom wanted to give this review, so she wrote: "The service at this place was abysmal. After 45 minutes of waiting, our group of four asked about the status of our order. The waitress had an attitude and started listing tables that were in front of us, which wasn't true. There was a table she mentioned that sat down and ordered after us but were already eating their food. I will never go here again." I got biscuits with sausage gravy. It was ok. I've had better and worse. The waitress was pretty attentive to refilling my Father's caffeinated coffee but not so much my Mother's decaf. My Mom and I have both been waiters, so we know it's a hard job, and maybe it was the kitchen's fault for the slow service, but her attitude ruined the meal for us. Also, we did wait at least 45 minutes for our food.
Should have a sign outside that reads “only welcoming to white people”. Had such an unpleasant experience when I went in for breakfast. Stood around for a few minutes and eventually just sat down at the counter when no one bothered to show me a seat, even though every white person what came after me was greeted with a pleasant “sit down anywhere you’d like”. Didn’t get a menu for at least 5 mins and the food took about 30 mins, much longer than it seemed to take for people who even came after me. The server couldn’t bother to look at me when taking my order but didn’t seem to have an aversion to looking at other customers. The same server didn’t seem to have any problem smiling when she gave me the check knowing her tip was about 5 seconds away! But hey, if your white you’ll have a wonderful time!
Went to this place and got the worst diner food i have ever had. we waited a long time for our food even though the restaurant was not all that busy The pancakes were cold by the time I got them and tasted like they had been made with cornbread. To make it worse I felt sick the rest of the day and having my body eventually reject the pancakes in spectacular fashion. I will never eat here again.
My kids and I were on a last minute trip to The Wild Center and we were told by a local to try this diner for breakfast...This was the WORST PLACE EVER, period. Do not waste your time!! This is a LONG story, but I am NOT making any of this up, I promise. There are about 10 tables in total and at least 4 people (waitresses and bussers) working in the front of this diner, and it took TWO HOURS (again, I am not exaggerating) for us to get 1 pancake, 1 slice french toast, and 2 eggs with homefries, bacon, toast. We were waited on AFTER 2 other tables that sat down after us. Coffee and apple juice were watered down. The eggs tasted like fish (?), homefries were like eating rocks, the bacon was complete fat, (there was no meat on the bacon at all... I have never seen that in my life) and toast was cold. My daughter thought there was sand in her pancake, it was so gritty! After the 2 hour wait, the poor service and bad drinks, I finally sent the eggs, homefries and bacon plate back, and the waitress did take it off our bill. Btw, that was the ONLY decently nice thing she did for us the whole time we were there. I paid for the bad pancake, french toast slice and watered down drinks, and as we were leaving the waitress CHASED us out to the parking lot, with our bill in her hand, and claimed that I didn't pay enough to cover the breakfast (remember - I paid $4 for a horrible child's pancake, that we never ate... I paid $6 for 3 drinks, 2 of which, we never drank). She added up the bill wrong, attempted to over charge us, and then tried to BLAME me for it!!! I showed her how 6+4+4=14, and the tax and so on, and she saw the mistakes on the bill, and we were FINALLY able to leave. I am STILL kicking myself for going there. We were on a mini vacation and we needed all the time (and money, I am a single parent) we could get. We passed a McDonald's on the way to this place, and although we almost never go there, I wish we did. I suggest you pass up this diner and just go to Mcdonald's, if you are ever in the area, they are 2 or 3 minutes away from each other. You will save yourself lots of time, (I am sure some) money, stress and you will be able to get your family a decent meal. Also, to be fair, there was one nice bus girl who saw that I had kids, and after about 20 minutes of us waiting for a table, cleared a place for us to sit.
Very disappointed. Very busy when we got there. They were understaffed. We waited an hour and a half for our meal. Which was just 4 burgers and fries. They were crispy burgers by the time we got them. Won't go there again.
Food was actually terrible and we won't be back. Cheeseburger was over cooked and a after taste.Pancakes were so overcooked our 7yr.would not eat them. The staff though were very nice
