Been going here regularly for dinner for 8 years now - truly great home cooking for a reasonable price! Their pumpkin cheesecake is to die for!

Food was delicious. Good old fashioned comfort food! Would definitely make a return visit. You wouldn’t go wrong making a stop here.

I went here with my family and we loved it! The french fries are so good and I definitely recommend the Tuscan turkey sandwich, it's so good! The staff are very friendly too. Definitely coming here again next time I'm in the area.

Stopped here for lunch a couple times while camping nearby. Both visits were excellent! Ordered a burger one time and what they call the Swiss Slawlom sandwich, each was great... the burger was huge! I was very satisfied with both the food and the service, everyone there was very friendly and attentive. Lots of food for the money!!!

Our favorite restaurant to visit when we are there during the summer. We always feel like part of the family, after getting to know all of the staff. The menu has a great balance of selection and the portions are perfect! Highly recommended to all our friends.

We went during a busy dinner hour with out a reservation and were seated in a reasonable time. The food was very good and the portion were generous. The service was very good. Especially during COVID-19 when restaurants are under staffed.

Enourmous chicken fajitas was delicious and worked as 2 full meals! We ended up here as they had more seating than other small places in Saranac Lake and we're so glad we did! Will be returning :)

Loved this place- they made vegan burger and fajitas for us and both were so yummy! The waitress though really made it special- she was so kind, suggested such an amazing beer, kept coming to check on us and just overall made our experience there amazing! I'm so happy we found this place. I'm Muslim so it was hard to find halal food around lake placid. This was one place we found fish and chips and salmon with veggies. Thank you for having that on the menu please don't remove it. They were closed on Sunday so we checked a few places menu online, said it had fish and chips and when we got there it wasn't. We called somewhere and they said yes they serve fish and chips and when we arrive they said no. We just ended up getting pizza from the last place we called and visited ugh 😫,

Best fish and chips we've had in a long time! Our server, Tabby, was friendly and knowledgeable and, though she was very busy with the lunchtime rush, she took time out to take photos of my husband and me. I highly reccomend this restaurant with its Adirondack ambience.

Was a different experience, thought is was expensive at first foe a Burger but was surprised by the size,huge,and the French Onion soup was great also. The hospitality. Wonderful Adirondack character despite plain outside appearance. We walked by this place 3 times before deciding to try it out for dinner. The place is deceptivly big inside, lots of comfortable seating, a full bar and nice staff. We had a 30 minute wait for a table that was worth it. My fish fry was great (light crisp breading) and the Flat iron steak looked prerty good too.

Awesome local bar and grill. I've always received great service, and the food is expertly cooked. The local atmosphere and décor makes the experience that much better. One of my favorites in town!

If you are a local or just visiting SL the Down Hill grill is a must have! The food is amazing! The French onion soup was one of the best I have had. As well as the Ruben! My wife had the buffalo chicken salad that was great. My son built his own burger which was delicious! Even with the modified menu there was more than enough to choose from and it was all cooked to perfection! Thank you for your dedication to the community and to providing incredible services!

This place has great food! They do a variety of "wings" and make their own fries. There was nothing unlikable about the food. I was a bit disappointed in the nachos--i can make the same thing at home for pennies... But everything else was fantastic and tasteful.

Food was phenomenal for our 1st time here. Waitress wasn't very attentive unfortunately but she was nice. Atmosphere seemed cozy + fun, but it was pretty cold in there. I think my favorite item we got was the salsa, it had the perfect kick. And pictured is our build your own burger option. Expensive but delicious.

Great stop in Saranac Lake! I ordered the Saranac Brewery Blueberry Blonde Ale beer and a burger. Everything was delicious! I wanted to mention how kind and attentive the waitress was despite how busy they were on a holiday weekend. Overall great experience and would definitely stop by again!

Yum! Downhill Grill was exactly what I didn’t even know I needed. The sandwich board outside said ‘Fish Fry Special’ and I was sold. The fish was perfectly crispy fried on the outside, and piping hot on the inside. Not over cooked either. I was surprised to learn they had dolce leche for dessert, and it was perfect! Caramel and milky cake with caramel yogurt balls and whipped cream. The prices were very reasonable, and the service was so friendly without being overbearing. If I visit Saranac lake again, this will be my go-to!

A great restaurant with a variety of multi-cultured food. The lighting is dark to promote focus on yourself and who's in front of you. They have a bar table that serves alcoholic beverages. The walls are decorated with New York specific historical pictures, maps, and info. Wolverine references because the actor probably ate here. They decorate for the holidays and had a cute Christmas Tree standing in the middle of the room. The meals are average prices for New York and cooked quickly and served hot.

First time visiting the town and had our first meal here. We definitely made a smart decision, everything was wonderful! The atmosphere is welcoming and cozy for a cold winter night, staff is super friendly. I ordered the beef pepper sandwich with sauces on the side. The serving size is huge and I finished it all cuz it’s that good!! The bread is toasted perfectly and beef is so tender that it just melts in my mouth with the cheese. What a great dining experience! Highly recommended!

Every time I'm in the area I've learned this is the place to go for a sure thing. Almost feels like home at this point. Update... After trying again places around Lake Placid and being repeatedly disappointed, I finally got smart and went back here. No wait, excellent food, well priced, friendly wait staff, and reliability have kept this place going when other restaurants struggle. Thank you again! Absolutely perfect! The food was flavorful and a wide variety was available for different tastes. The fish and chips were terrific, as were the onion rings. I don't know if you will find a better over all deal for a burger anywhere in the area. I'm so happy we left Lake Placid to get a decent meal without over paying. The food was priced well below Lake Placid, and probably below what it would be valued at. The host and waitress were both great. This may now be our favorite place overall for the area. Thank you for doing things right!

Great restaurant on Main St in Saranac Lake. Understaffed, as are so many places. Come on America! Get back to work. The limited staff were all hustling and doing their best to satisfy a full house. The food was plentiful and delicious. Bonus was a beautiful rainbow.

The waitresses are wonderful and checked on us every now and then. She recommended the honey garlic wings and I asked for extra crispy; they were out of this world. I inhaled the entire dozen; well, I did spare 2 pieces to my wife. But no more. Everything is reasonably priced. Excellent customer service. I only waited 10 min while touring the river walk. By the time, I came back from the walk, the table was ready.

Nice place. Moderately priced. Waitress was very friendly. The NY Strip was excellent. Salmon was very good. Spanish rice not so. The menu seemed very diverse.

The pulled pork sandwich was exactly what I needed in my life! Staff was nice and atmosphere was alright. I ordered a mixed drink and honestly im not really sure what was given to me.

Place is nice not very well lit and I didn't like the fact when we ordered burgers the fries didn't come included we had to buy them separately. Staff is very friendly and food is kind of pricey I spent like 74 dollars on some burgers fries and 2 drinks.

Food is really good and moderately priced. Has a very upscale classic atmosphere without feeling too stuffy most Everytime I've come it's very busy but somehow manages to stay very quiet. The staff is wonderful and service is good but nothing exceptional. (Hence the 4 instead of 5 stars) would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a very nice night out without emptying their bank account.

Great restaurant with great staff. Got queso and steak fajitas. Queso wasn't my favorite (not very creamy)but wasn't bad, steak fajitas tasted like they were cooked in a crockpot not grilled, so I prob won't try them again, too mushy. Bartender was really nice, mixed some good drinks. Next time I'm in town, I'll definitely visit again and try some other things on the menu.

I have been to Down Hill Grill several times over the last few years. The food, service and menu are generally quite good. The menu is quite varied and you can have a choice of several just simple sandwiches to full entrees. I would definitely recommended you try this place.

Nice place we came into town for a night. It was a busy Friday night but the wait staff worked hard to keep dinner moving. The burgers and onion rings were very good.

Great grill food. The waitress checked on us many times during our stay. The food came out staggered but was hot when it arrived. It was quite noisy inside which made it hard to have a conversation at times. I would definitely give it a try if you are looking for a casual dining experience.

The food was good, but not great. I would eat here again, but not something I would rush back to. Neither my husband or I would order the same thing again. There were enough things on the menu that there were other things I would try. My salad was wilty. My husband’s chipotle chicken had more burn than flavor.

Food is high end and very good. Menu is perfect size, sometimes restaurants have a full book of options, this is a perfect menu size. Great selection of seafood options. Food is prepared quite fast. Ample amount of seating. (Tables and booths) My only complaint is pretty much just the lighting and decor is rather bland. Lots of dark colors, browns, aged wood, things like that. Wait staff is decent. They werent super talkative or anything, but they got the job done and checked on us enough.

It took an hour to get our food. Miscommunication between staff. We weren't in a hurry and enjoyed the atmosphere. Food was crazy good. Server, hostess, buser were all extremely down to earth and friendly. Nice ambience.

Tabby & all the staff was so friendly and informative! I had a delicious burger and a local draft beer. I opted for the side of fries (that the menu states would be an additional $3). My boyfriend also went with the side but we definetly could have shared bc the bowl was huge but DELICIOUS! Happy to spend our money to support to a great business in Saranac Lake. We’ll be back. 🍻

Food was fantastic it just took quite awhile to get it. Ordered a burger with onion rings, burger was perfectly cooked, onion rings were crispy and delicious. My husband got the Tuscan turkey sandwich which was also great. Cajun fries were as expected, lots of seasoning with a kick! Would have taken photos but I was so hungry by the time we got our food that I just dug right in. *Update 8/2024: I ordered a chicken burrito and my husband got the Texan sandwich. Service was much quicker this time and the food was just as delicious. The burrito and sides was just way more food than I can eat unfortunately, but I did my best. My husband let me take a bite of his sandwich and it was fantastic. I would definitely consider ordering that instead next time. One of our favorite places to eat in Saranac.

This place was a nice to grab a bite in the cold weather. The atmosphere is rustic and homey. The service is top notch. I got the sizzling fajitas. They came out nice and hot, but it came with one huge tortilla which made it a little difficult to eat, wish it came with smaller multiple tortillas. However, it was still a nice meal. Dawn was our server and she was great!

Typical family oriented grill with a winter sports atmosphere. The food is ok - no humongous portions - and on the average price. I do not know if it was today only but we had to wait for our food for over 45 mins. A bit long.

Not high quality food, but gets the job done. Chicken was tough and nachos were basic. Also pricey for the low quality food and drink.

The fish is always good. The fries are not crispy because they put it in a Styrofoam container with the carrots and fish. They more more vegan options on the menu.

Have eaten there before and had a good meal. This time, the mashed potatoes were from a box and were stale. Brisket was too salty and greasy, and portions were very unequal around the table. Entrees arrived 5 minutes after appetizer. I give them three stars only b/c my last experience was good.

Food wasn't the greatest. Brisket was very fatty, no flavor. Kids had chicken tenders, nothing special. It was a cute place, very busy when we were there. Server did his best. Food just wasn't very great.

Great location and family friendly. Lots of bar food options: the simpler your order the better it is. Occasionally have wished it was cleaner. Seems like a good bar too but i haven't tried that yet.

Comfy atmosphere. Bit of an interesting menu offerings, mixing a strong Mexican offering alongside sandwiches and limited traditional offerings. I can't say the booths were incredibly comfortable (flat wood board seat & back), and we waited maybe 45min for our food, on the longer side. However, when it did come, the Rueben was delicious and big, as well as the Chicken Parm w/ Linguini. Menu doesn't cover everything your meal comes with, such as the Chicken Parm coming with Toast brushed with garlic butter. Very satisfied with the main courses we got. We also got nachos, and they were pretty disappointing unfortunately. Maybe 15 tortilla chips spread flat on a tray covered in a thick layer of flavorless cheese. Kinda meh. Not worth the 10$. Overall, I left full, but it definitely could have been better.

Came in for the Tuesday special and it was out. We waited a very long time to be seated and then about 20 mins before the waitress took our order. Food took awhile to come out. When we were done with our food and waited about another 20 mins for the waitress to walk by and I asked her for the check. In both my visits there in the last few months the service has been horrible. I gave it another try after the 1st time, but I doubt I'll choose that restaurant over any others.

I wasn’t expecting anything amazing since I went in for comfort food, but the food was barely a step above fast food. A cheeseburger, onion rings with a beer and tip was $25; it was a total joke. Food tasted like it came from Hardee’s and the staff wasn’t very friendly.

Beware! My partner and I ordered multiple food items the day after T-Giving 2022. After leaving this restaurant, I looked closely at the bill and noted discrepancies. I called and spoke to our waitress Tabby who denied any wrongdoing: My Deluxe Nachos were much more expensive as she asked what type of meat I wanted and I stated chicken, not knowing an extra $3 would be charged. Also, little tiny tiny plastic vials of additional salsa that I asked for were charged extra - what a ripoff! My husband ordered chicken fajitas and was charged $4 beyond the menu cost. The waitress Tabby told me on the phone that this was because the fajitas were not vegetarian. I told her that chicken fajitas cost were clearly listed and she had charged us $4 too much but she denied this. We travel a lot and will not be returning to this restaurant. I should have listened to my gut instinct when I saw the sign at the front door stating CASH ONLY. Do not be scammed by this place!

Ordered fish dinner to go, get home open up containers, no coleslaw. Ok, someone made a mistake, not a big deal happens. After transferring dinner to plates, find coleslaw in bottom of to go container, under where hot fries were. Really couldn’t have put that in a small to go container? 1st time we tried again to order from DHG for several years after having a bad fish dinner from there before. Lesson learned. Twice.

Waited 60 mins. Food was subpar. Got 3 orders of prime rib expecting med rare. All came well done. Waitress was great, but was very disappointed in the kitchen. Good for wings and burgers, but failed with prime rib.

Overall, food isn’t awful, but it’s not great either. The issue for us was how many things we were charged for that weren’t specified. For instance, we were charged for a side of mayo, a side of ranch, side of sour cream, etc. Two of us got burgers and the waitress asked “do you want fries or onion rings with that”, to us, implying it came with either. Yet we were each charged additionally for sad fries. I understand if that’s how they do things, but it should be mentioned how many things are charged separately that normally aren’t. It felt shady. Three of us went out and it came to $95 for 2 burgers, a side of soup, 2 beers, a cocktail, a side of potatoes for our baby, and an appetizer. Honestly, the food is not worth the price. It was a disappointing experience. Our waitress was very nice though.

We must have caught it on a bad day b/c our experience was not good. The waitress was not very attentive -- didn't quite ignore us, but almost. Hostess sat us at a dirty table and actually asked me if I wanted her to wipe it down. Parties that arrived 20-minutes after us ate 15-minutes before us. My hamburger bun was actually stale -- rock solid -- toasting it did not hide the fact that it was stale. We had to tackle the waitress for drink refills. They brought our appetizer, but no plates with which to eat it. The bill had $30.00 worth of drinks we never ordered; easy fix I know, but even still, good thing I checked the tab before I paid. The one great report -- the fries were great, but my burger was so dry I had to drown it in ketchup to eat it. All-in-all, probably the only time we will eat there.

Ordered fried haddock dinner. The fish came incased in multiple layers of tempura batter that was so thick I had to hack at it with my fork in order to break through. Once inside, the grease poured out onto my plate. The coleslaw was a little too fermented for me. Not sure if it was the seasoning or old cabbage. On a positive note, the homemade fries were excellent. I just didn't need to eat a plate of fries for my lunch. First and only visit. Later suckas

We had a party of 12 so we made a reservation, and the hostess told us 40 minutes. We told them we did not need to sit together because we understand it was a busy night. We sat outside in front of the restaurant waiting for our reservation and we watched them seat multiple parties while we were waiting. We went in 40 minutes later and she said we were next. We waited for 15 more minutes until someone in our party told the hostess we have been waiting and we have watched her seat other parties in front of us. She then said we were next and only had enough seats for 10 out of the 12 of us. That same person in my party told her that, and she then got the manager and the manager told us we had to leave because we were being rude. We thought this was ridiculous.

I understand that everyone has a bad night. But an hour and 45 minutes to get a meal. Then 3 out of 5 meals were cold. My daughter received her meal 30 minutes after everyone else. Spoke to the manager and he was the most rude disrespectful individual I ever met. We felt terrible for the waitress who was very apologetic. We left her a generous tip. Never again just because of the manager.

Absolutely horrible honestly. We loved the waiters but our food took us 2 HOURS !!! 2 HOURSS!! To get here . And my one of the people at my table ate there fish fry in 7 minutes . Absolutely horrific . Nobody is running it at all. For $150 for 4 people definitely will not go again.
