Hidden gem alert. They seriously need to market better in Columbus. Imagine if Applebee’s, Chili’s, Longhorn, Outback, Red Lobster never franchised and were still as good as the 90s/ early 2000s. Houlihan’s is by far the most bang for your buck American comfort food restaurant in Cbus. Prices are really so beyond fair it’s like this is the last oasis left surviving the scourge of inflation. The ambience and decor were also pleasantly surprising. Service was top notch, our server Michelle was super helpful, bubbly and kind. Recommendations: cauliflower, scallops, steak and that damn good twice baked potato souffle. Just wow.
Ashely was amazingly fantastic! Prompt with the food and drinks! She was so nice and always asked if we needed refills desert and Togo boxes!! Love her
Service: Was a bit spotty, but its COVID times and they could be overwhelmed. I'd not read too much into it and give them another chance. The servers, greeters and the other staff were very apologetic and courteous. Food: killing taste, I ordered 1 of everything from their menu. I tried everything. Off the charts taste. A slight delay in getting to the food, but I covered that in the service part. Price: We went during happy hour. Most of what we ordered were from the Happy hour menu and it was a flat rate of $5. Please see the pictures, it'll surprise you the quality and quantity of the food. Overall: 5 Stars
Houlihan’s Restaurant + Bar exceeded my expectations in many ways. The cleanliness of the establishment is immediately noticeable, from the dining area to the bathrooms, which were private and impeccably maintained. The excellent hygiene standards definitely added to the overall positive experience. The service was outstanding – the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. The food was good, with a variety of options that catered to different tastes, making it a great spot for any occasion. I actually discovered this place through a DoorDash order, and it intrigued me enough to visit in person. I’m glad I did because the experience was even better when dining in. I invited a friend along, and we had a wonderful time enjoying the relaxed atmosphere and excellent service. Houlihan’s is definitely a place I’d recommend for anyone looking for a clean, well-run restaurant with great food and even better service.
Service was great The chicken tenders that my daughter ordered were probably the best I've ever had. My steak unfortunately came out too pink and tasted like a salt block.
Awesome atmosphere. The food was great. The Mac and cheese wasn’t my favorite but the cocktail’s made up for it. The staff is kind and Aiden is friendly. Will definitely go back for a tiki tiki drink!
I have been here twice and both experiences have been fantastic. The servers are kind, attentive, and the food is very good for the price and quantity you get. Hannah was our server and she was lovely. Very sweet and checked on us regularly to make sure everything was good throughout the meal. I highly recommend this restaurant. Also I love the fact it’s semi casual but you can also dress up and not feel out of place.
This was a hidden gem.💎 It is a little upscale so expect to pay a little more. However the food is outstanding and I will be back. Slight draw back, the wait time for our food could have been better.
I absolutely love the atmosphere here and the Strawberry Breeze!!! I recommend this place for anyone!! The service has always been amazing - Rebecca is beyond a gem and I love interacting with her!! I do recommend the buffalo wings!! Yum!!
Restaurant week: Service (Miranda) was attentive without hovering and had a great personality. Apps: Firecracker shrimp was delicious. Queso and chips were not spicy and Pico was fresh. Chicken Sandwich was tender and juicy with great toppings. We ordered ranch on the side for the fries and while different the ranch was tasty. Scallops were the favorite. Perfectly seared, the risotto was tender and the basil oil is a delightful touch. Apple pie with a streusel topping and vanilla bean ice cream doesn't disappoint. Gooey Butter Cake was a highlight. We will definitely be back.
Just stopped in the other day and had a great experience! The server was nice and prompt, and the suggested new chicken noodle dish and cheese was great. Would come back!
It was my first time there and Paige recommended the fish and chips and the berry salad for my wife. The fish and chips were delicious and my wife couldn't stop raving about the berry salad. At the end of our meal Diana the manager stopped by and was very pleasant. She thanked us for coming in and was very personable. Now we have a new place to dine!
My server Dominic was a great waiter he attended to my every needs was very friendly and always had a smile on his face. The food was excellent and the drinks were fantastic. I would ask for Dominic again and would recommend you ask for him if you were to visit Houlihans.
Great food and portion. We always order from them but this time we decided to dine in. The chicken nachos is the best because of the freshness of the ingredients and great portion too. Yummy!
We have enjoyed our many dining experiences at Houlihan's and have recently been going weekly. The restaurant has delicious appetizers, entree selections, and desserts. Plus has a great atmosphere, happy hour prices, and the staff is very attentive.
We had a large group (10) seated promptly as we had made a reservation. Our waitress was excellent and our food was delicious. Not one complaint from our group!
Good American food, with some nice special offerings. We are visitors to the state, and we chose this place based on menu, atmosphere, and the ability to sit and talk in a more quiet environment. It met all these needs!
Everything was so good here. The food was top tier. The drinks were delish (even after a snafu) the atmosphere was so New Jersey that it automatically reminded me of those that I know from this state. Lol. It was so good that I had to find one where I live just to see if the standard continues.
Dominic was our waiter, and he was fantastic! Very friendly and attentive. Our food was delicious, as always. Houlihan’s is one of our go to places because of the food, service and atmosphere.
We had a group of 20 attend a retirement party here, and everything was great. I received a confirmation message for my reservation and had all my questions answered when making it. Isabella was one of our waitresses, and she did an amazing job taking care of such a large party. The entire staff that waited on us were exceptional. I had the fish and chips, which was excellent!! Everyone with me also seemed to enjoy their food. Overall, it was a great night, with great service.
There is a great outside seating area and inside has a nice atmosphere. The food is always consistently tasty, and if you go ask if Dominic is there to sit in his section. Best server ever!
We ate at the Upper Arlington, Ohio on Easter Sunday. It was our first visit there. The food was great , prime rib, roast beef, salmon and chicken for entrees. A seafood dip for appetizers. We had great house salads. The food was served quickly and was excellent. We were all happy with our meals. One person had the hot chocolate cake and loved it ! One person stood out to us. Our server Dominic was absolutely amazing ! He was cheerful with a great smile. He took our orders quickly and was knowledgeable of the menu. He was responsive to our needs and anticipated what was needed. We never had to ask for anything. What a great server who is deserving of recognition. We will be back !
What a wonderful find! We had a later reservation for 10 and May did an awesome job taking care of us! She was super helpful with menu tips and suggestions. Great cocktails as well. I can't wait to try more items off their exapansive menu! Will return!
We stopped here for lunch. The potato soup and tomato bisque soup were both great on a cold and rainy day. Our waitress Amanda was wonderful. The chocolate crème brûlée was mellow and flavored nicely.
I got the price fixe and it's a great deal. Food was delicious, chicken tortilla soup, stuffed chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans and chocolate cake! White sangria-fabulous. We were a party of 5 and Michelle B took great care of us!
Went here for my birthday dinner. Food was decent. But for the price I figured it would be a bit better. One of the few places that has a twice baked potatoes and man was it good. Highly recommend getting it. The restaurant was nice. They have a nice little outdoor area to sit when the weather is nice. Staff was friendly with prompt service.
A great meal if you are looking for some delicious items on the menu. Few vegetarian, and tasty options available for vegetarians. The soup was delectable and the scallops were super tasty. Loved the Nachos and spinach dip! Cocktails are worth a try and are very refreshing. A good stop if you have an official event or if you want to have a good time with friends and family.
Houlihan's provides a great experience for somebody looking for a place that goes all out for 'American' cuisine. I started with the avocado and chicken egg rolls, which were not the best I've had, they were still well-prepared and tasteful. However, my entree, the Crab Melt sandwich, was a real nice surprise. It was something a little different from my usual choices and I wasn't mad at it at all. The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting, not too crowded, which made for a nice, laid-back dining experience for me and my people. Our waitress was friendly and attentive, adding to the overall positive vibes. I'd definitely recommend giving Houlihan's a try!
I used to frequent Houlihan's years ago, haven't been much in recent years but that might be a mistake. I've been twice in recent months and the food has been good, service was great and it was nice to eat on the patio. We tried the fixed price menu and given current dining prices it was a fair price. For $25 we got a wide choice of apps and entrees plus dessert (don't sleep on the creme brulee). I think Houlihan's is back on my dinner rotation.
I came here twice. Their dishes are always made creatively and tasty. High recommend their juicy burger, signature appetizer “Shroom” and meatloaf No.9. However, they have to increase their service speed, which is incredibly slow. My anger was gone when the beautiful and decent dishes were served at the first time. The same problem happened when I came here the second time. Even though the dishes were well decorated, I almost got crazy about their service.
I did a carry out order but got there a little early. The inside is nice the staff was very friendly. The place was decently busy. Parking lot was packed. Got the food. Order was perfect. Food cooked as ordered. The tast was delicious. The chicken nachos had the perfect kick to it. If you want cutlery or condiments. For a to go order. I do suggest asking for it or noting on the order.
The atmosphere was chill and relaxed. Our waitress Kaila was very nice and knowledgeable about the menu and gave suggestions. I started with Crunchy Spicy Califlower with had a spice ailoi sauce. It had a good balance of sweetness and a little heat and slightly crunchy with the panko breaded crust. My wife tried the Caesar Salad with salmon. I had the SO. Cal Fish Tacos. We ended our meal with the Salted Caramel Gooey Buttercake was a great way to end our dining experience at Houlihan's.
This has become a UA favorite. Sat at the bar and enjoyed drinks and appetizers. The bartender was new so we helped him a little with our drink order. The apps were very good. We'll be back.
Great service. Tasty sauce and crispy chicken parm. Manhattan was good. Fried cheese is good also. Had a party of 10. Service didn't miss a beat.
I was surprised that this place would be a dining place I loved but it is. I actually have done a disservice by not visiting in a while but within in the upcoming month I will be back for their DELICIOUS cheesecake 😮💨 & the egg rolls were outstanding as well! 🔥 You have a fine establishment Mr. Paine .
Met friends here a few times and really enjoyed the atmosphere and service. Drinks were great. I suggest popping in for Happy Hour. The appetizers are also good. Nice variety and we often order 3 or 4 to share. Service has always been amazing.
Got the cheeseburger with bacon and mushrooms with fries. All were very good! We split the prime rib egg rolls for appetizers, which were too greasy and also not really egg rolls, nor did they taste like prime rib. Aside from that, though, everything was good! Highly recommend the cake.
My husband and I came here for Thanksgiving dinner. It was our first time. We ordered the cream cheese stuffed chicken, prime rib, macaroni and cheese, and fried spicy cauliflower. The food was terribly bland, no seasoning whatsoever. My chicken was very dry. The macaroni and cheese was also very under seasoned. We were very disappointed.
Visited on a Sunday night and benefited from making a reservation as there seemed to be a decent wait. The staff was friendly and the menu seemed to have a variety of options however the food seemed to be subpar and not what we expected. We also attempted to order dessert but they were out of a lot of options. Our experience was decent and we would recommend others check it out, however it wasn’t exactly what we were looking for that night.
First time visit and found the menu odd. And since I am allergic to sesame, tree nuts and spinach (I know. It’s odd, but true) the menu was also quite limited for me. Then the dessert came out with ice cream - and I try to avoid dairy as best I can. The menu was gone and I didn’t feel like being fussy - but I think had I read that in the description I would have asked for it on the side to give to a table mate. Anyway… I wasn’t overjoyed with my food or the service.
The food was disappointing. I ordered a chicken wrap and fries, but the fries arrived cold. The wrap wasn’t assembled properly, and I couldn’t take a single bite without everything falling apart onto my plate. Overall, I’m really disappointed with the experience.
The server was great. She did everything she was supposed to. I ordered the crab cake sandwich. The bread was hard, the sandwich was dry. Probably best to offer crabcake meal with an aioli. That would gelp with the dryness. The sweet potato fries were cold and rubbery. The waitress right away gave me hot fries as a replacement. I have been to Houlihan's before and the food used to taste so much better.
We went here for dinner with our family and let’s just say a fast food run was in order when we left. The food was overall old and cold. The prime rib looked old, like it was there for a while. It was cold and red on the inside, when asked for well done. The lemon chicken was actually good but too cold to eat. The Burger my son had was bright ted on the inside. No eating utensils were supplied. The waitress saw a cup spill, walked away and never came back. I had to get up and ask for napkins and silverware. We paid and I left a tip since I know some things are not controlled by the wait staff. We probably won’t return here unless I happen to be in the area and need to use the coupon management gave me.
First time there, found it thru the official Landry's restaurant list, and wanted to use my Landry's rewards card balance. It was quiet enough to talk - rare for a bar setting. Food was meh. Service was a bit slow, and forgot silverware. Had to order a side on an unimpressive Asian chop salad. Steak was ok, but better elsewhere for the price. Went to pay with a gift card and my rewards balance and it took at least 25 minutes to find out that while the Landry's gift card worked (after some struggle I did not have to see) they could not use the Landry's rewards balance - Apparently some collision between the corporate and the store. Manager: "we never do the rewards card thing here" me: "this is a Landry's restaurant, right?" Manager: "yes, and I called the office and the off-shore people told me the card has to start with a 6. <other details>... then they hung up on me. Here's the number - you can call it and see for yourself." Me: "I guess I have no reason to come back" (why would I want to call that number only to be abused like you were?? Why are you suggesting I waste my time like that?) They did give us $30 restaurant credit and a free appetizer *after* I paid the balance, which was only about $34. Really? Can't just comp the meal after the hassle and bland first time experience? Do you want a chance to try again with us? (you could have done both and earned another opportunity to impress. I recommend reading The Power of Moments by the Heath brothers.) Not impressed. Not going back. Update: In response to "Unfortunetly, we are not of Landry's Systems. It does state on the back of the cards and on the Landry's website under Terms and Conditions that it is not redeemable at Houlihans." I will observe that the [Landry's] gift card worked, and recommend that the owners get in or get out to resolve this problem. To others reading this, it might be a decent place to go, but not a great place to be loyal.
Wasn’t a great experience this Christmas Eve. It was fairly busy and noticeably understaffed. The hostess was really hustling when we got there but the rest fell flat. 2 appetizers took over an hour to get and we had no silverware or napkins. When the food came it was room temp without any check back from our server. Took so long that we missed our plans for the remainder of the evening. There was no compensation of any kind and that’s the most disappointing factor.
Food just missed the spot at every turn. Stuffed mushrooms weren’t great. Steak was chewy, just not a good cut. Potato’s had a weird taste, maybe like sour cream. Sweet potato fries were good! Green beans were over cooked and soft. The cake was also obviously frozen, heated up and topped.
Came in and was seated waited 20 minutes to even get our drink order taken. Finally was able to order then proceeded to pull paper out of my food. Chicken was terrible and tasted like it came off the swan man’s truck. The green beans were undercooked the spinach dip tasted sour like it had spoiled the only positive we experienced was our waiter was very kind and apologetic. Absolutely will not be returning. Not to mention the price of the food was outrageous for the amount and quality of it. Not to mention my fiancé and I both ended up sick as could be after eating this
Went on Valentines day with my sister. We went early like first 6 people in there. The restaurant was clean and the waitress we had was outstanding! I left her a $20 tip based on her service but everything else was trash! I've had better food at soup kitchens I've volunteered at. I ordered a vanilla Crème brûlée (yes to start with and a blueberry lemonade.) About 10minutes later get my lemonade that didn't taste like blueberry but it was still delicious my waitress made it. She asked if it tasted like blueberry i said not but it was still super tastey and immediately my waitress said hold on let me try again and dashed off. She came back in shortly after and eagerly had me another to try and it tasted like blueberry and still delicious. Then 2mins later she came back to tell me they didn't have my dessert only the chocolate for the day. No biggy. I ordered a impossible burger with special sauce and mashed potatoes. It took 45mins for it to get there. Now it was still early and only 4 other tables. It gets to the table I'm like where's the special sauce? The kitchen said they are out but could give me some sauce most people use to dunk their chicken un. Im like um okay. Immediately before she leaves the mash looks like someone thew them on the plate. I said something and my waitress came right over (someone else brought the food out) told me give her a quick sec she'll get me something well put together. Not even a minute later here comes some pretty potatoes not thrown on a plate. Well don't you know they were disgusting. A real rancid taste. The impossible burger tasted straight out the freezer and unseasoned. I've had better from Burger king. The manager came over (white guy, baldish head, blue shirt, black pants) asked how everything was I told him the mashed potatoes tasted sour. Like a rancid dairy was in it. He was like ohhhhh ill be right back and check on that. He didn't come back to our table. Then I ordered a cheesecake, it was actually delicious. However the manager and kitchen were just below standard. The waitress was nice and attentive I couldn't leave a tip based on food & lackluster management so I left her a note on it (we paid separately). I hope she finds a job at a place where her talents can shine bec she was so personable, kind, funny, and caring. I wish we would have just eaten at chipotle.
We went here for Valentine’s Day as our other top choices of restaurants were all booked. This is our first time here but probably our last. We ordered a few things starting with the spinach dip. Some of the chips felt rubbery like it was either uncooked or stale. Oh well, it wasn’t too bad. One of our orders was the filet steak, asked to be cooked well done. That meal was served to us medium rare. Our other order was a mahi mahi fish meal. Well that one was served to us half raw. Not only were the foods undercooked, it also took a long time to get them. About 40 minutes from when we ordered them. By the time they gave us another plate of the mahi mahi, the person on our party had already lost their appetite and did not eat it. No discounts or anything was offered as good gesture for the raw foods and somewhat bad experience.
Have started to try different restaurants to broaden my base. Well? This one is not on my list. Arrived 11:33 am. Asked for a four top low table. Directed to a dark squeezed in a nook two place. Odd….only four people at a table. The rest of this side of the restaurant was empty. Ordered ice tea and sat and watched the four people sip their drinks while I sipped mine. Suddenly it strikes me that I have no food nor do the others who have been there longer. Left for quicker service else where. Place dark and difficult to read in.
