It's really nice to have a place to meet up with friends during covid-19. Denny's set up an outdoor dining area. Guests go inside to order at the front counter then take a seat, the servers bring the food out to you. For those who are concerned about spacing, the tables are spaced out more than 6 ft. They can accommodate larger groups by moving the tables around a little bit. The meals are served in covered food containers and the drinks are served in disposable cups.

Wonderful! As usual, their 55+ menu is full of Excellent meals, at a very affordable price, for retired folks like me, on a Fixed income. Also, their quality remains high, no matter where in the Country I find them! Especially after Midnight!

I loved my breakfast there. The breakfast burrito choices are perfect!!! Our server was great and kept the cups full and the plates moving. I couldn’t enjoy the delicious hash browns because of diet but the cottage cheese and fruit options show is they’re ready to meet the good Health generation with flavor! Next time I’m going for the smoothie. Great job on the great service and good!!

Had a GREAT EXPERIENCE , However this customer walked in while my family and I were dining in and the customer seemed like he was having a BAD DAY and started taking out his frustration on the manager and waiters here . Customer kept complaining that his stake wasn’t cooked well for the past 4 times , and if he’s that upset WHY DOES HE CONTINUE TO COME HERE !!! seems like the mad customer just wanted to pick up a fight !!!! He was extremely weird and began walking around the whole Denny’s taking pictures and even walked in the kitchen to take pictures as well , he began scaring other customers and another customer proceeded to calling the police. Besides that ANGRY CUSTOMER OUR experience has ALWAYS been great here!!!!

This has been my go to spot. The other Denny's don't compare. The staff is friendly, the place is clean. They bring me the correct food when I order. Always taste great 👍🏽. Sad they don't have chicken noodle soup everyday. But good variety of food. Many memories with my grandma and grandpa bringing me here 💕

Called the number on yelp and was sent to call center out of state. The person on the phone got our order completely incorrect! Unfortunately, I realized this once I was home so I returned to the restaurant to get this sorted. The staff was so nice and understanding! They turned a bad situation into a good one. Thanks to the manager on duty Kayk and Isaias.

This review is for the Hayvenhurst location: I've been coming here for several years with my family. Out of all the Denny's locations I've been to, this one feels the most at home. While the food usually leaves more to be desired, the staff's attention to details is top-notch. From the server to the management, they make you feel welcome, even when they are packed. Food service can be a headache, but their professionalism beats the competition. I'd go so far as to say some fine dining establishments should take a page from this location in specific. If you happen to pass by this place, take a moment and enjoy their hospitality. You won't regret it!

Surprisingly good visit to a Denny's for a change. Weekend breakfast visit. Service was fast. Cokes stayed refilled even though quite busy and the food was picture perfect. Clean and tasted good/right. Not like it was all buffet food they made early and kept warm for everyone all day. I've visited this Denny's at dinner hours on weekdays and a totally different experience though. Go for breakfast. Ask for the 2,4,6,8 menu and order the biscuits and gravy. Can't go wrong for that price. Gotta hand it to Denny's. They do try and try. A shame to see the Van Nuys and Sherman Way location close. "A Hint" The area is about 100% Hispanic. Add more Mexican to the menu. Good luck..

I’ve been to this location a couple times and every time has been wonderful. Our server, Raquel, is always really kind and welcoming, she even tries to go over the language barrier when I go with my parents who don’t speak English

Server Pat recommended. She good at setting warm welcoming conversations with us customers & especially keeps up to date with our orders to make sure they arrive on time For food, my favorite Denny’s foods are anything savory like the burgers, steaks, soups & skillets. Minor thing that needs improvement: please lessen the salt content for deep fried chicken & make sure deep fried chicken not burnt. But this is relatively minor but to keep in mind for improvement. Other than that great experience at Denny’s of lake balboa I would definitely return again in the future. Please keep those coupons coming, either via phone app or via mail if can.

I come and have dinner at this restaurant since 2007 when my kids were little but now I only take my wife for a dinner sometimes and a good reason for it, is that we both enjoy how they treat us. went here at 6:30, atmosphere was relaxed & not busy, ordered my usual fit slam & crepe. compared to other denny’s i have been to, the food was good & customer service is is great, they don’t rush you. the whole place was clean & the bathrooms are clean as well. would go here again.

I was here last weekend with my small family and we love it here. The customer service is great. The host/waitress was and older lady and she was awesome. One of the tables next to us was giving her a hard time and being super nasty to her. But she kept it respectful and honestly she handled it great. The fact that some people just don't know how to treat others is horrible . This place is always clean and food is delicious every time

I only go to one dennys restaurant and that's this one Sherman Way. They have the best customer service and they always make you feel welcomed. Everyone there is amazing especially Patt, her kindness and attention to detail is extraordinary. Why go anywhere else when a great establishment like this exist. I ordered on the website at 12:15 am. Website was super easy to use. It said my food would be ready at 12:45 am. I left Northridge hospital and arrived on less than 15 minutes to find my food super hot…and exactly what I ordered. Honestly? Doesn’t get better than that.

great location, ample parking, big space, very clean and the christmas decorations are so nice. great food for the price. but the service is 6 star . Cindy is so nice and knows basic Filipino conversation even though she's obviously not Filipino. Israel (the older guy ) was always moving making sure everything is in place. Both of them cheked on us probably 5 times (maybe more) the short time we were there. We will definitely be back

Our waitress an Asian lady was excellent. She was fast, thorough, informative and swiftly brought things to our table whenever we requested anything. Ive been to this location a few years ago and i remember this location for the same waitress. I had their $8 breakfast burrito. It is a great choice. I’d definitely order it again. I’d ask then to make the hash brown more crispier.

I admit to being a bit frugal. I guess I haven't been in a restaurant lately because I was shocked that every price seemed to be $16.95 or more. I'm just going to stick to cooking at home I could have made the same meal for about three or four dollars and it would have been healthier.

This is my first time at this Denny's restaurant. The waitress was very fast (had to because, it was very busy) my over medium eggs were overcooked but didn't ask them to exchange or Re-do because, I don't believe in wasting food and, my eggs would have been thrown out. Waitress was fast and professional, I'm sure that if they have more personnel, it would be better not as rushed. Food tasted good as always. The place is clean.

This location has changed over the years. It's a decent Denny's. Most do tend to have crime, Drunken behavior, and drug use late at night/early morning. Especially in the weekends. Haven't been here in years and have recently eaten here twice in the last week. Got the sirloin steak dinner. First time THEY forgot My side of toast. This time the Manager "Kay" gave Me an extra side of toast. Enjoying the food and service at this location. Recommended ✅

Here are a few observations during our visit here on Friday March 13th, 2020 around 7:30 pm. The restaurant, including the men's room, was very clean with nice outside landscaping. The parking lot was nearly full but the restaurant was not. One parks on the side of the restaurant and walks out to the street around to the front entrance (just like at the Van Nuys Norms on Sherman Way). We were a party of two. Our waiter Manny (Manuel) was courteous and attentive. He was quick to bring coffee refills and to ask a few times if we needed anything. He did not remove the used empty dishes from the table thus creating unnecessary clutter. Rather than bringing the sampler we ordered a little while before the main meal, everything was bought at the same time which meant some of what we ate was not hot. Wished the kitchen had better spaced out the timing of food service better. To be fair, I don't think this was Manny's fault. Even though the restaurant was nearly empty, the hostess kept on seating others in adjoining booths rather than leaving every other booth empty. The restaurant sound system was turned up just a tad too loud but the music itself was enjoyable. What we ordered was tasted just okay in our opinion. Maybe it is better earlier in the day. Please see the attached food pictures and descriptions. The 15% AARP discount was appreciated. I probably won't return for a while to see if it improves over time.

We were looking forward to breakfast at Denny's; however, my much anticipated breakfast was extremely cold. If we weren't so hungry, we probably wouldn't have eaten it at all. I was very disappointed for a place that prides themselves on their breakfast; it will be a long time before I return to Denny's again.

Service slow because not enough staff to cover restaurant. The servers work really hard so it isn't their fault. Food is ok. Miss their chicken noodle soup which is only served on weekends now. Manager not friendly but she seems also overworked. This is Denney corporate fault I think. They try hard, just be patient .

Its a dennys. The food is generic. I feel really bad for the mostly female night staff. They had to deal with a homeless person who came in and absolutely tried to bait them into a fight. We left a very large tip due to the effort they put in to defuse the situation.

Haven't been to Denny's since I was a kid. Was really excited to go today. They are offering all kinds of new stuff and great prices. So my wife and I went for breakfast. Restaurant was very clean, festive, and friendly. Waitress was obviously very busy but did her best... We ordered coffee, Berry pancakes and all you can eat pancakes. Nothing fancy, nothing special. 30 minutes to get our food. WTF? Sorry, that's way too long for pancakes. My wife's were amazing and mine were... Plain pancakes. But very good. I got all your can eat. It took 20 more minutes to get a second plate. But that time I was ready to leave. Almost an hour of wait time. Not cool. So we asked for check. $3.29 for a cup of coffee!!!!! You are out of your mind. We spent almost as much in coffee as breakfast. And because I ordered all you can eat... I was not allowed to take my leftovers 2 whole pancakes. Spent all but $30 for a very bad experience. Good food. Bad experience. I'll stay home next time.

Came here new years day. No wait to be seated. Waiter came & took our drink & food order quick. Then it got bad. We waited 40 minutes for our food, which isn't such a surprise seeing as it was new years day, but when we got our food, it was over cooked. The country fried steak was like a rock and the fries were almost inedible because they were so over cooked. I felt like you could chip a tooth trying to eat them. The burger and hash browns were good. The bathrooms were clean. There is a parking lot with a good amount of parking.

Just what you expect from Denny's, they are very consistent. I prefer them for breakfast more than IHOP unless I specifically want pancakes.

We got seated Not offered our choice of beverage which is waitressing 101 We waited ten minutes before we even could order a cup of coffee If it was busy I would completely understand being a waitress myself but that was not the case there was only three tables occupied in the entire restaurant. People were nice but my goodness I got served cold mashed potatoes, cold broccoli, a well done steak that was supposed to be medium well and ink lemonade that had so much sugar you could make 2 pitchers of Kool aid with it. Oh and let me not forget the steak sauce that was so watered down it just squirted all over the place when I went to use it. I won't be back at all. I couldn't leave anything more than a dollar tip.

Very disappointed with this Dennys , coffee was tasted like someone just add water to the one they already made, i asked the waitress and she said im so sorry the coffe is what it is and we can’t make a different one, her solution was asking me if i still want it or not but she didn’t check if the coffe was good or not, honestly people like me are going to eat there because the coffee, lady was very rude i don’t really recommend this place if you don’t have patience with people, food was ok atmosphere was ok too… no tip!

Went here earlier today for a quick bite but it turned into a very funny experience. First it took our food 20 minutes to come even though it was only eggs and 2 pancakes. Waitress dropped/spilled the pitched of water and never properly cleaned it. Food was very bland and little to no taste. There was also a mother their smacking and yelling at her child like it was an everyday occurrence. I am only giving 2 stars instead of 1 because I could see the waitress genuinely tried her best to make us feel cared for. Next time I'll be going to Norms!

I am done eating at Dennys overpriced, it seems that eating healthy is a punishment! 3 EGGS TOAST AND A CUP OF WATER COST MORE THAN A MEAL?! $15+😱💔☹️ this economy is going downhill killing people with stress, bad meals and high prices. Had I eat EGGS, PANCAKES, BACON AND FRY POTATOES is less money, less health and shorter life. When I asked the waiter why that price? He replied.(IS BETTER IF YOU ORDER A MEAL) but I don’t like to waste food there is a lot of people out there starving! He goes OH WELL another disappointment guest should be able to seat anywhere the restaurant was empty maybe a table or two I like the morning sun 🌞 so usually seat by it the waiter insisted that side is not open . To start, Pat M. (Our waitress) seems to always be rushing but is always behind. Our table was hardly seen and very rushed when taking our order. I understand sense of urgency, but when I wanted to say something about my steak being too hard to chew, she was gone by the time I had a chance to say anything about it. My biggest concern was with the GM. I saw him cough INTO his hands, without washing them! I thought okay, maybe he's not dealing with food surfaces directly(which is still gross). He then tidied up the menus and walked around. A few minutes later, I see him cough again into both hands and then proceeds to close the ice machine, and touch other food surfaces. He went somewhere in the back where I could no longer see him. I went and asked the hostess and a server what his role was, then told them what I saw. They said they'd address it with him but I'm not sure if they did or not. He didn't come back out so I couldn't directly address it with him. My family and I were about to leave but decided not to only because we saw the food was arriving at our table and didnt want it to go to waste. You would think as a GENERAL MANAGER you'd know whether you're sick, getting over a cold,flu etc, you'd stay home, wear a mask or wash your hands!!!

Came in with my family to eat. It started bad. They said the wait time was 20 minutes which turned to 35 minutes. We can get over that but then we ordered and they took another 15 minutes to bring us our drinks which were wrong. We ordered coffee and they brought us sodas. Then when it seemed our food arrived, it was for another table. They took it and gave it to another wrong table. They are completely unorganized. The only good thing is that their attitude was ok. Honestly the waitress seemed so lost I felt bad for her. Kept hearing other customers complaining. We finally got our food another 30 minutes later but not before they took it to the wrong table. I had to waive down the waiter for it. The food was well cooked so no complaints there but it was sad that we never got a refill on our coffee. The only thing they were quick and ready for was giving us the check. Definitely not coming back to this location.

The waiter...needs a new job!!! He didnt listen to anything we told him about our orders, got them wrong and was indignant when I told the waitress about the problem. Will not return to this location and advise others to go to taco bell instead of this dennys

Ordered pick up online and order was wrong. Receipt says over medium and 4 sausage links but that was ignored and I got scrambled eggs and 2 bacon 2 sausage.I regret tipping! Why even give the option! So annoying, not the first time this happened! 😡

This Denny's didn't do so well. Staff is very unorganized and seem to be not so caring. Took like 20 minutes to be attended to. The food came out cold/warm. A lot of work needs to be done to give it a 5 star review.

The Asian lady who answered the phone at 10:45pm had poor English comprehension, which made it difficult to order. I took my business elsewhere. Denny’s should hire people that speak proper English. Replying to the Denny’s owners comment. I understood every word your foreign born employee said. She didn’t understand me or tried to rip me off and charge a lot then what it cost when I ordered the same thing online.

I wanted to finally post a review about this place, too bad there is no way to give a big zero, because every time I've come to this place I end up disappointed of the asian manager or whatever she is there. At first I thought maybe she was having a bad day or she was tired, but why it's always every time I visit? She is very rude and has no manners at all, and her English is so bad I can barely understand her. I hope Denny's management does something about it. It gets me really annoyed and gets me not want to come back because of her.

For mothers day, we ordered online and the estimated time was 30 minutes. We were notified that 2 uber drivers was there but left. We called the store directly and at this point, it had been well over an hour since we ordered. Our food was not ready yet. We understand that they were busy but the wait time should have been 2 hours when we first ordered. We asked if we can just cancel and receive a refund and they gave us the run around saying we had to call their online services to do that. So we decided to wait for the food. About another hour went by and we called again with no answer. I decided to go to the Denny's in person (even though I had already paid the delivery fees). When I show up, I ask for my food and of course, they're still finishing up my order. I waited there for 10 minutes until they finally handed me my food. Today my wife decided to give them another chance, seeing as how it was a holiday last time and they were understaffed. We ordered food online. Got the food at the designated time which was great. I asked them if everything was there and they assured me it was. I get home we are missing a few items. We tried calling them and of course no one answers. Their automated phone system makes it so hard to reach them. Finally someone gives us a number to an office that isn't even open. This Denn'ys isn't worth the hassle.

The food is good and the servers are nice. The cashier is rude as hell tho, of all the times I've there she's rude. She is short and has a Vietnamese accent and while you're paying she's ignoring you and she argues with the servers and honestly when I heard arguing about 3 dollars with one of them I just wanted to get up and leave. She does not look nice. Not a good environment when you look at her grouchy face honestly.

Pros 24 Hours (except access to outlets to work and eat) Cons = Slow, Busy, Rude, Indifferent Servers = Huge lack of customer service or effort Rude staff Too busy to bother answering questions Take minutes to answer the phone Put on hold after asking if it is a To Go order Disrespect - assumed I only wanted power to charge up (I wanted food too) Server didn't care her behavior cost my business tonight I called. Waited a few minutes for the server to answer. When she did she replied ready, "Is this a To Go order". I replied, "Actually, I wanted to know if you have outlets I can use to plug in my laptop." She said, "No...please hold. Hold on please." When she answered again I asked, "So do you have outlets I can plug in my laptop (while I eat)?" She replied, "That area is closed off for the night and it's a 2 hour limit with the purchase of food." So I said, "So would I be able to sit there tonight?" She repeated the rules and said, "I have customers, I answered your questions." I asked again, "But is it worth the drive there or will I be able to plug in?" She insisted she had customers and was too busy. I got so frustrated I told her, "You lost a customer." I planned on ordering food, but they must get a lot of people that don't for her to be so rude. Except it seems like every Denny's I go to in LA is rude and doesn't care and is incredibly slow to actually serve me. Even still, this would be better: "I'm sorry to put you on hold while I help the customer in front of me, I'll be with you as soon as possible." And if you're busy helping other tables, just passing by saying, "I'll be back to check on you soon." would make a big difference in improving the customer service. The prices aren't expensive, but customer service should never be a compromise. Ever. Businesses should know customer service comes first. Her attitude showed me that if I came there, I wouldn't get quality service anyway. She is too busy and rude to bother. I told her "You lost a customer."

Calling your order in for pickup means they don't actually make the food until you arrive. Asked for fresh / cracked eggs for the scrambled eggs. Eggs from a bag was used instead. Even though I called their local number my call was routed to a central call center I believe. I've done this before at this location and it was handled much better and as you would expect. I'm not sure what changed?

Watched a table walk out right before we did. Absolute trash(and I love most Dennys restaurants). This location should let go of every person working and start over. We waited 50 mins and there were 0 tables in front of us. We dipped before they served us because the people ahead of us got ice cold gravy and eggs.... lol Certified trash

Terrible food. Tenders dry, been sitting there not fresh. Fries soggy not fresh. Lemonade had that stale after taste, terrible. The dinner was a bust. The one on Reseda is usually very good. This was like throwing money down the toilet.

******Horrible ABLEISM Here****** *Read end for ABLEISM comment* I was here in October '22 & had a Very Good Experience - Just today Sept 15 '23 - **the food was good - regular Denny's - *** price in Oct '22 was $15.35 & today's price for the exact same sandwich & iced tea was $18.70!!!** **the waitress was the only wait staff for the lunch rush - 25 filled tables & 1 waiter - however she wasn't dealing with it well & was flipping out with me (lone diner) ******I am physically disabled (handicapped) & use a Walker & when I used the bathroom before sitting for lunch - A MALE Employee tried to enter with only cleaning cone/sign ******** then I had lunch & while I was using the bathroom after lunch --- a MALE EE Tried to enter the female bathroom to "clean" AGAIN!!!!!!******* I politely complained to the "Manager" (male) - he didn't care!!!! Tried saying false excuse "well we clean every 1/2 hour" --- 1/ NOBODY 'cleans' a bathroom every 1/2 hour 2/ I could see bathroom hallway from my table & during the 90 minutes it took for lunch NO ONE (not even a customer) entered the bathroom hallway!!!!!! 3/ No apology from anyone - the male "manager" just kept shrugging his shoulders & repeating the "cleaning" excuse 4/ I've had MANY places EEs 'check' on me using the public bathroom - completely ABUSIVE ABLEISM - I've even had them peer thru the stall cracks to "check one"!!!!!!!!!! *******SHAME on this Denny's******

Alright now if I could I would give negative stars. I been coming to this dennys for a few years now and never had any issues with the food or employees. They might take a while or forget somethings at times but who doesn't? I've known several diffrent managers at this location and they are all usually very professional . I recently started seeing a new manager named "Pablo". He wouldn't give me a last name for whatever reason. Well first off Pablo came in through the emergency exit while his employees were rushing to to get the work done. Our server was great although she seemed overworked. Unfortunately my wife found a hair on her bourbon skillet which was not sizzling at all. We decide to cancel our order complete as we were no longer satisfied. Server understood and called manager over. He immediately walks over with attitude and disrespectfully says on hair has nothing to do with the other plate and began to be rude in front of my family and other guest claiming that we always complain and that we must not even have any money and before we can speak or respond he quickly walks off angry and insulting us. He refuses to speak to us in a professional manner and my wife starts to argue with hi. And demanded he apologize to us a we are regular customers and he had no right to humiliate us in front of our infant. It's we are leaving I demand that he properly explain his manners and to charge me in full as Money or the hair incident was not the problem. He said it was OK at the point my wife and I were very upset. I insisted in paying completely after embarrassing us that way. He finally gave me a weak apology and said he would like us to come back again. I will not be going back even though it was my favorite location. Really lost a loyal customer this time. By the way I speak Spanish to and heard what you said as you walked in to the the kitchen."morros pendejos" means stupidass kids. I held myself back from stooping down to your level. Well Pablo you really messed up this time. Thanks for the horrible experience.

Ordered regular buttermilk pancakes to go and for some reason parts of the pancakes were soooo spicy. It left a burning aftertaste. My mother couldn't even eat hers. I'm not sure if they reused the to-go bowl or made the pancakes on a pan that they had made something spicy in previously.

The management and the waitresses overcharge every single item between 40 to 60 cents. They try to scam you out of money every single customer. They know exactly what they're doing they tried to take the receipt out of my hand a handful of times to not be able to so that they are overcharging and scamming people more than their advertising. When I called it on them they tried to argue with me I told them that I will be posting this on Google and all the sudden they wanted to give me everything for free which I didn't want so I ended up leaving the money on the table and walked out.

Sorry but as nice as we were after they ruined our dinner and didn't apologize I just had to come and leave a review at least so in case this happens again to someone else. It was bad enough that other people after us got their orders before us but once we did get our orders they were all like 5 minutes apart. When my wife finally got her order she didn't realize her burger had a big piece of paper from the cheese til she was halfway done. She thought she probably ate some of it without knowing. We told the waiter which he was cool and apologetic but when it came to paying the lady at the register which was the manager didn't even bring it up and had me pay for the mess their cook had made. I could have argued it but I just didn't want to ruin our night anymore. We were having an amazing day til we for there but it is what it is. This happened a week before Christmas btw. Never going back to that Danny's.

This place needs employees who understand how to take order in English. I clearly ordered 2 different hamburgers to go. Wasted 30 minutes waiting on for incomplete order. Either the worker doesn’t understand English or not knowing how to operate touchscreen comp. Manager also indignant, prefer to stand up for employee who’s doing wrong than fixing customer’s complain. Did not give change directly to customer but put it aside, wonder why. Unbelievable, never going back!

I recently went with my family, and we ordered chocolate milk, but the milk was spoiled — it just didn’t taste right. The dishes were also a bit dirty, and when our food arrived, the bacon and sausages were cold. We also ordered a dish that came with meat, and it just wasn’t good — it tasted undercooked.

Went in to get breakfast before work . There was a short black hair in my food I have red hair. Was charged completely wrong she had added an extra drink and my friends 20$ meal. When mine was 14$ my total had come out to 28 when it should have been 20. The whole experience sucked including the waitress will never be going to that dennys again.

The service here sucks. We ordered 2 original club sandwich's that's usually a blt we asked for seasoned fries , whole order was wrong . Went to go ask if this was the original club sandwich and the waitress says "yes that's it, that's how it usually comes". I've ordered the club sandwich before, and that was not it. $43 for their mess up. Then they start talking about us in the kitchen very loud. Never coming back here again!
