I JUST HAD THE BEST NEW YORK STRIP I COULD EVER HOPE FOR!!!! My instructions were a bit complex but the cook truly understood the assignment perfectly. The best food on I - 20. From SC to Pecos Texas. I'm a trucker, by profession, the service, with smiles, make the difference. No matter who you are, you're treated with respect and kindness. The cook is awesome. I thought I was eating at Grandma's house. Stop by and check it out. You will not regret it.

We were traveling and stayed at the Hotel across the street. They recommended The Farmhouse. Glad we tried them. The Dinner Rolls were OMG Good!!! The Smokehouse Burger was so good. The Fries were crispy. The Carrot Raisin Salad was so good. The 5o CFS sa so good. The Mashed Potatoes we're great. The Fried Okra was crispy and not greasy. The Fried Pickle Spears were crunchy and not greasy. They have awesome pies. The Staff were all so friendly. You must stop by and try this place

I was in town for a day and had breakfast here. Best decision ever. Customer service was good, the food was great, and I loved the fact that there were free crosses outside to have. Yes, I got my 3 and passed them out. Definitely a must stop I you're passing through.

Parked at the truck stop next door for the night so came in for dinner. I was greeted warmly and seated immediately as they were not busy. I ordered the country fried steak with mashed potatoes and fried squash. Everything was excellent. Roll that came moments after I sat down was the best Ive ever eaten at a restaurant and HUGE. In the picture that’s the small half lol. Steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Mashed potatoes were good but not great. The fried squash was my favorite. I usually like mine thinner cut but the very crispy breading made it perfect. I really wanted to have a slice of the chocolate pie but I was stuffed and couldn’t eat another bite.

Amazing gem right off the highway. My wife and I ate here on the way back from a trip and we are very happy we did! The portions, food quality and variety were great. Everything from the salad, fried green beans, pork cutlet, apple pie and shrimp were top notch. An amazing and very warm restaurant that we will definitely be back to enjoy again.

Drive a few yards past the Luv's truck stop and eat here! Great comfort food and service. Everything from Chicken Fried Steak to Grilled Chicken to Daily Specials like Fried Catfish. The sides were classics from the good ol days. There were the standards like mashed potatoes, Mac and Cheese, fried okra. Classics like pea salad, carrot salad, pineapple salad. Appetizers included fried green beans and fried pickle spears. Didn't try those but will next time I am passing through. Yeast rolls like Grandma used to make. Too much fried stuff? Good grilled options on the menu. Be sure to save room for dessert. The staff was super nice and attentive. Low noise level while we visited around 1:30pm on a weekday. Other times might be louder. Prices were very reasonable and worth every penny.

Oh my soul When you walk in, you see immediately, the name fits. All the country charm this state can muster was poured into this restaurant. It feels like coming home, even though I've never lived in anything resembling a farmhouse. It's just right. My server was attentive, helpful, friendly... Everything you'd want with great service. The food was good. I got the twelve ounce hamburger steak and I swear it was bigger than twelve ounces. Although I'm not a fan of smothering my food, the onion gravy was on point. The fried okra was perfectly crispy and delicious as were the grilled veggies. (Not the crispy part, just delicious). That brings me to the pie. I don't have words for the pie. To say it was the best apple pie I've ever had would be an understatement. It's ridiculous. The flavor, the cinnamon, the caramel, the ice cream... It was perfect. Even that doesn't do it justice. The first bite was a symphony of down home goodness and the sweet melody of deliciousness continued down the last crumb. 10/10 Highly recommend

Great tasting homestyle food. Staff is polite and helpful. It is a heavily christianity based establishment, from the christian soft rock playing, to the free crosses by the front door. All in all a very nice place to eat even if religion isn't your thing, though. The food is more than worth it.

I absolutely loved this place. It's simple back on the farm feel and atmosphere with great food. Good quality and portion sizes. Was nice to slow things down and relax and enjoy a good meal after a long day in the truck. Server was great to handle any special requests that we had and fast service but never rushed us etc.. I liked it so much I will be back in the morning to try out the breakfast. I even got to meet the owner, he was quick to explain all the props and that he actually used to drive the tractor that now sits inside the restaurant.

Such a quiet little place! Such fun decor inside! We got there at 5pm on a Saturday, which proved to be a great time as it was getting closed to full when we left at 6! We had the hamburger steak & fried catfish, the steak could've used a little more flavor, but the fish was perfect! And those rolls! They were soooo good! Will be back again for sure! Great customer service all around!

Great comfort food. We were stuffed when we left. We had catfish, fries, fried okra and squash, Mac and cheese with rolls they size of a softball not a baseball. Took coconut cream pie with us for later.

Got the opportunity to attend a Sunday Supper Club dinner at the Farmhouse. It was a French menu and the entire dinner was fantastic. Food, service, ambiance, engagement of the chef/owner. Highly recommend attending one of their special dinners.

Is we found this restaurant while on vacation. And we are so glad that we did! I had some of the best catfish that I've ever had in my life and my wife had the Chicken fried steak and she said that was the best she's ever had! Everything seemed to be cooked from scratch, which is a big surprise these days. Take time to read about the barn that the restaurant was made. If you're around canton , texas , don't miss this.

Great place to eat, I had dinner and breakfast the next day, the inside of the restaurant has antiques as decorations, the dinner rolls are to die for, and to all my truck driver colleagues, there 2 loves truck stops that you can choose from and park your truck and go get some real food.

This is family favorite when visiting East Texas. You must see their desserts to believe the 5 or 6 inch meringue on top of their pies!

Staff was great, food was fabulous, restaurant was very clean, decorate beautifully for Christmas, and fast service! It kinda reminded me of grandmas food! I will be coming back! Steak was cooked to perfection and I highly recommend the grilled asparagus, and the fried pickles were the best I have EVER eaten!

While the other first twelve reviews say get the country fried steak, I opted for the hamburger steak, sweet potato and grilled veggies. Everything was delicious and tasted as a gourmet home cooked meal from Aunt Granny’s farmhouse kitchen. Gabby our waitress was an exceptional highlight to our meal. When I walked in my eyes immediately saw the dessert case. WOW!!! I had to see more. The restaurant decor is extremely charming and I saw train tracks on top of the wall but no train. I asked my waitress, Leah, and she turned it on. Giving that there were kids inside, I thought this might add to the ambience of the evening for everyone. I started off with a fried green beans and were pleasantly surprised! Very well seasoned and crunchy. I should note that the dinner roll weighed about 8 ounces. What a treat! The menu looked wonderful but I wanted Leah to tell me what I should look at most. The hamburger steak won. I wanted it loaded with everything and it was. Loads of gravy. I wish there were more mashed potatoes. I had the top it off with dessert so coconut cream pie was the winner. I had a great experience and I recommend everybody going through to at least stop and try this wonderful place. It has a great story. The story should be in their Google page. That would at least bring in some more people to see it for themselves. ############ UPDATED REVIEW (12/28/24) I tried the Southwest egg rolls this time and they were pretty good. A little too much bean in them for my liking but they tasted great. I chose the ribeye steak which was supposed to have a bourbon glaze on it. There wasn't much of a glaze but the steak was very tender and tasty. It was my hope to have some glaze left to soak up with the dinner roll. They were out of the steamed vegetables and zucchini squash medley. I found this quite troubling for a restaurant of this caliber. I had the sweet corn and loaded mashed potatoes which were very hot. Having the sides in a small bowl may help with portion control/costs but does nothing for presentation (see pics). Natalie, my waitress, was very hospitable and help me with menu options. I would give this visit the following rating: Food 4, Service 5, Atmosphere 5

Found a hidden gem! It's actually not too far away off the freeway but I just discovered it today. Such a nice rustic but elegant barn feel decor. I love the environment, we were greeted and seated promptly. Very friendly and attentive staff. The food was hot and delicious. As much as I am traveling to East TX nowadays, I will make this a place to stop by. They had great looking homemade pies! I was stuffed after my meal, I will try them next time.

Great place and wonderful fresh baked rolls(2!) places on the table with drinks but not real butter….. the side salad was big, made with the bagged salad mix with a half slice of tomato, one red onion ring and some shredded cheese and a couple croutons and two ranch dressing portions on the side. My 6 oz chicken breast was fresh and cooked well and not dried out and tasted good! My baked sweet potato came with cinnamon ( not real) butter and was small but was plenty for me.. it was also hot and fresh, baked perfectly and I love cinnamon so it was great!! The server was Leah D , and was very attentive but didn’t suggest dessert, which I didn’t need but was going to order a slice buttermilk pie( to go) if she asked, just because that would have been a nice touch and to get the check average up… but thus a larger tip… always offer pie, since many reviews talk about the desserts too!! I’m a trucker and was in hospitality for many years….. I know how to make the best suggestions on the service Industry!! Thanks for a great meal!!!

Rolls were huge but could've been left in the oven a bit longer for my taste. Butter on table tasted a bit old like it needed to be refrigerated. But other than that the food was tasty. Loved the portions and country decor. Would most definitely come back!!

We had breakfast here on a Saturday morning. Wasn't overly crowded and didn't have to wait, which was nice. The food was delicious. Cinnamon roll was perfect. Pancakes were great. Would be an easy 5 of 5 if it weren't for the time it took to get our food. Just way too long. Breakfast ought to be quicker. If the service speeds up we'll be back for sure.

I always test a place by how they fix a chicken fried steak. This one is 7/10. The roll served with the meal is excellent. The fries were crisp and fresh. The steak itself was over battered. But had a good flavor.

Cute little restaurant just off Highway I-20 with great service and traditional Southern cuisine. They have some awesome homemade pies of all types that they sell for $14 each it's a steal. You got to check out the Christmas decorations.

13/15 Above Average Chicken Fried Steak - Texas Certified CFS Inspector To begin with I really like The Farmhouse and their lunch catfish with hushpuppies is great. They have heavenly yeast rolls that are nearly worth the 1 hour drive I made for this meal. I'm convinced that if their meat quality was better this would have been a perfect Chicken Fried Steak. Great to look at, the crust tasted amazing, the gravy was excellent and the size was just about right. I have a feeling the meat was either cheaply sourced or overcooked because it was a little tough and a disappointment after the rest was so good (especially the mashed potatoes). Oddly the macaroni and cheese wasn't anywhere as good in the evening as it was at lunch. This was noodles and milk but the lunch was rich and baked style. Still a great place to go especially at lunch.

You can eat in the Barn or you could eat in the House. Your choice the ambiance is incredible! The menu has a great list of good "home cooked" meals. You are depriving yourself if you like good country cooking

We ordered the holiday meal for Thanksgiving. It was excellent. The turkey was totally pre-cooked and sliced. It was tender and tasty. The cornbread stuffing was great. The vegetables and rolls were fantastic. This meal was far superior than the meal we got from a chain restaurant last year.

I love coming to the Farmhouse. The food is good but the service is even better. Once you step inside you will notice The barn on the left, it is an actual barn that was taken apart and rebuilt into the current structure it sits in. To the right is the Farmhouse that was built after. It’s pretty cool!! Don’t leave without getting a slice of their pies! Delicious!

Cozy local spot with great service — mixed food experience, but worth a visit I stopped by this family-style restaurant on a Saturday afternoon after noticing it while walking near a truck stop. The location is convenient, with easy parking, and the place was pretty full — clearly popular with locals. The atmosphere was warm and cozy, and the staff were genuinely polite and welcoming. The whole experience felt homey and relaxed. I ordered a T-bone steak (medium), and while the doneness was perfect, the flavor didn’t really impress me — I’d personally rate it 3/5. The mashed potatoes and sauce were very good, and the grilled vegetables were nice, though limited (only eggplant). Presentation was fine, but I expected a bit more variety and creativity. My friend, on the other hand, had the liver (which he rated 5/5) and the pork chops (4/5). He was very satisfied and said everything tasted great. If I had judged the place solely based on my own dish, I would have given it 3 stars. But seeing how much my friend enjoyed his meal — and considering the friendly service, cozy atmosphere, and fair prices — it’s clear that they do a good job with many of their dishes. So overall, I think a fair rating is 4 stars.

Family friendly, Highway-side family owned restaurant. Has a really cool back story, found in one of the included pictures. Two of us ate dinner with two drinks and dessert for 38.81 before tip. Server was friendly and offered suggestions when asked. Handicapped parking available. Lots to choose from. GREAT value!!! Food was 3.5 stars but everything else was a solid 4 stars. Clean restrooms. Did not have to wait for table on a Saturday evening during dinner time (5pm-7pm). Plenty of seating for larger parties. Would recommend.

Just not good, and the coffee is weak guess they're trying to save money by scrimping on the amount of coffee in coffee maker.

The story is neat, but all in all, not impressed. Don't know if it was just a bad night or something else. We were not greeted warmly, our server seemed upset or would rather be elsewhere, they were out of many drinks and food products (not apologetic about it) and gravey and potatoes were cold.

Mediocre food and serving sizes. Pricey for the quantity and quality. The wait staff made up for the shortcomings. Cheerful exceptional service 👍The atmosphere was ok with an overused rustic farm theme.

The staff was so very sweet and helpful, however the food was some of the worst I've had in a long time... primarily the issue was the fry oil tasted rancid and therefore all the fried food was disgusting and the fries and okra were undercooked and tasted like they had been prepared a long time before being served... like they were made buffet style and just kept under a heat lamp for several hours. Very disappointing.

Well the service was great and my wife really enjoyed her vegetable plate, but I felt like I paid $21 for a $4 steak. Flavor was ok and it was cooked like I ordered, but the cut of meat was just bad. I had the ribeye and it was grainy and tough. Everything a ribeye shouldn't be. As for the restaurant, it's way outdated and looked like it's been well used. Please make sure you go to the men's room after dinner, it's a bit outdated too.

My wife and I live in Mabank and we wanted steaks for our anniversary dinner. I found Farmhouse in a search of steakhouses near me. Our Ribeye steaks were I believe $30.99 a piece. There are several steakhouses popping up around the Cedar Creek Lake area that are pretty upscale. Their steaks are generally around the same price point. I am sorry but we did not get $30.99 steaks, sounds awful but they are just above Denny’s steaks. We were very disappointed in them. The waitress was nice and accommodating but the kitchen quality fell very short. I could go on but honestly why, this is a restaurant that per website has been in operation since 2003, seems to me the owner isn’t much hands on and the restaurant has paid for in undone upkeep and quality standards. Service was excellent. Place is kept clean, tables were bussed quickly. Food was ok but seemed like it was made a long time ago. Reminded me of an old truckstop. Pie looked better than it tasted.

Get the T-bone, skip the Popcorn Shrimp (what was I thinking anyways?), and lower your expectations, salad lover. The rolls, baked in muffin tins, are pretty good. The salmon looked amazing.

It was good food, great service. The good was kinda small chicken fried steak was size of my hand.

Simply this place gets 2.5. 5/5 it gets due to the atmosphere but the actual food is very very average. We ordered the smoked barbecue sandwiche with Chicken Patty. That tasted amazing. And I ordered Coleslaw as side that was fresh too. My husband ordered spicy chicken sandwich and that was below average. He ordered grilled veggies and the portion was like for a new born baby. Patty is very very thin. No much taste. My daughter ordered pork chop with side Mac and cheese. Pork chop was so chewy. We eat pork chop from all other places are much better. Mac and cheese was nice. But their behavior is very nice. And the train was super fun !!

It's one of those places where it looks cute and cozy. It looks like the food will be bomb. It was a bomb alright. We had breakfast. I had omelete and he had 3 egg with grits. Food was Cold and Tasteless. Besides the catfish flavor of my omelete. Bread tasted like it was sitting out all night, stale, our food was cold, the home fries were barely cooked, no flavor, the grits were so-so. The eggs tasted like they were cooked in the catfish oil. The ingredients are low quality, american cheese, vegetable spread intead of butter, ect. They asked us as we were leaving "how was the food?" I said, not good. The hostess said sorry, offered us free pie. Lemon merange. She was so sweet, so nice. It looked really good, but guess what. IT WASNT! If you expect Lemon merange pie to taste like lemons then you will be disappointed. Cute atmosphere but that's about it.

I was so excited to try this restaurant based on the reviews. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to expectations. The server did not introduce herself. The service was quick but without any pleasantries. I felt rushed throughout the meal. I had chicken fried steak, mac-n-cheese, fried okra, and a roll. The CFS was extremely tough, very difficult to cut, and had little flavor. The mac-n-cheese was the blandest I've ever had. Okra was delicious, with perfect breading and flavor. Roll came out piping hot and was absolutely on-point. Overall, I'm disappointed and won't return.

This restaurant is super cute. Unfortunately that is the only thing it has going for it. The service was unfriendly and sporadic from when we walked in. Our server seemed irritated that we were there and took 10+ minutes to take our order, she had two other tables. The food might be worse than the service. The mushroom burger was a tiny patty with no condiments and none were offered. The french fries might have come from McDonalds. The chicken fried steak was pathetic. The steak fell out of the coating in a huge piece. That is a sign that you do not know how to cook chicken fried steak. And I can’t be positive but I’m pretty sure the mashed potatoes started out dehydrated and not as actual potatoes. We just bought a place nearby and we were looking forward to this restaurant based on reviews. I’m not sure how it has such high reviews.

The food could have been ok but due to a 45 minute wait after ordering it seemed the food we were presented had sat for an extended period. Room temperature fries after a long wait torpedoed our visit

Im really disappointed. I was super excited to try this place and granted we did have a party of nine and there were other big tables and im very understanding but I ordered the southwest chicken salad and it stated it came with a croissant but it only came on a single leaf of lettuce no bread. We asked for steak sauce that never came and took 10 min for 5 spears of asparagus. Maybe it was an off night but was looking forward to enjoying this dinner and unfortunately it was disappointing.

Came in for lunch at 1:00 and ordered the Farmhouse Burger. It took 35 minutes to get my food for a burger and fries. That’s completely unacceptable. The burger was just okay, nothing memorable. Honestly, I would’ve been better off walking next door to the Carl’s Jr. at the gas station. If it takes over half an hour to slap a patty on a grill and drop fries, something’s seriously wrong in the kitchen. The free bread was great, which unfortunately ended up being the highlight of the meal. That pretty much sums it up.

I use to eat here often but haven't been in a few years. Myself and 8 other family members decided to eat here and even though we had a large party there were larger parties that received there food first even though we had been there longer and already ordered. One we received our food most of it was wrong and my daughter ordered asparagus for a side and had to remind our server numerous times and she finally got her 5 spears of asparagus just as everyone else was already finished eating. They were not that busy at our time of visit and they couldn't done better.

The reason is simple but bad enough the lady handed my my bad and told me to have a good night but didn’t tell me they were short on item and I had to go back and then she told me yeah they were out of said item would I like a replacement or a refunded , but didn’t tell or ask me when I was there the first time ! I hope this joint was not trying to rip me off !
