Opinions de Barrique Venice
The service here was impeccable and very personal. The food was amazing maybe one of the best meals I’ve ever had. Don’t be taken aback by the uniqueness of the menu it’s all delicious. Trust the waiters recommendations. Stop by you won’t regret it! Thank you Barrique for a wonderful birthday dinner!
The four of us shared two delicious watercress salads and four pasta dishes. Each dish was cooked to perfection: Quail, Rabbit, Lobster, Butternut Squash. We started with the butternut squash ravioli (evening pasta special) which on its own would have been a star, but the other three were so outstanding that they eclipsed the ravioli. The service was totally on point and subtle. The atmosphere is beautiful.
Very authentic, romantic atmosphere. Extremely friendly and welcoming staff. The desserts were my favorite part (Tronchetto and Crema were my favs). Scallop was okay -- the octopus was actually better. Tagliatelle was delicious. The bread isn't anything special but is good dipped in olive oil.
A rare find ... genuine, welcoming hospitality and authentic Italian food. We were transported to a European candle lit dinner . The service is on point. The staff works like a family, and they love making the customers feel like guests in a home. We are going back only a couple of days later.
My date and I had a wonderful experience last night for dinner. We got the best table up on the corner of the deck and shared 2 yummy pasts dishes. The waiter was super nice and informative. Would defiantly go back to try some more of their unique dishes.
Hands down - best Italian food I have ever eaten. We had an absolutely fantastic evening at Barrique Venice. The service was superb. Very considerate, yet not intrusive. The Amatriciana was amazing and the Branzino was off the charts! Will definitely be back.
Went here a few time when it was Ado. Really enjoyed the filet mignon ravioli that I still remember it four years later. The pastas here are amazing and the service is great too. They made a mistake on one of our orders, quickly corrected it, and gave us a free dessert as a result. This dessert was also quite good. Overall, one of my favorite Italian restaurants in California.
Very authentic Italian restaurant. We came here with friends and everyone loved their food. I'd recommend making a reservation. We ordered the scallops and the prosciutto and burrata to start. Both were delicious! For mains I ordered the boar ragu which I thought was phenomenal. Others ordered the squid ink pasta with lobster (one normal and one gluten free) and there was a tagliatelle ragu special with venison. I tasted all and all sauces had deep flavor and the pasta tasted fresh. I'd highly recommend you visit Barrique!
Always delicious food! This is a "go to" place for me. They always have amazing specials, but the main menu is delicious from top to bottom as well. Definitely make a reservation.
By far the best Italian restaurant I’ve experienced so far in LA. The pasta was to die for, great wine selection with mostly well known brands as well. Entrees were also good (but not as good as the pasta). Highly recommended if you want to eat some real Italian in the US.
Ever since moving to Venice in 2020, I had been hearing about how amazing this restaurant was and have been meaning to check it out. I finally did for the first time a couple weeks ago. After dining there, I WISH I didn’t take so long to do so. From the moment I checked in with the host until I left, the service and overall vibes from the staff were top notch. If I recall correctly, our servers name was Michael. He was beyond helpful when it came to questions and requests. When I dine at a restaurant for the first time, I tend to ask the server what their favorites are and go with that. His suggestions did not disappoint in the slightest. I’m due back for dinner again this coming Monday and I can’t wait. I will be a returning customer until the end.
Beautiful little restaurant, ambience was romantic and rustic Italian, server was so attentive and nice and gave us amazing recs, everything was so tasty. Had the wild boar ragu, red beet tagliolini, and the 12oz striploin and we loved all of it, the chocolate mousse dessert was also 10/10.
This may have been the best restaurant experience I've ever had. From the moment I pulled up until I left, I felt like I was the honored guest of a hospitable Sicilian family. Everyone was so nice, but sincerely so. Everyone was so professional, but not stuffy. Every detail of the restaurant was perfect, you could tell they paid attention to every little thing. Some people make food, these people craft it.
Absolutely delicious The Branzino carpaccio is light and delicious! Amazing scallops! Capesante alla Griglia con Fonduta Pan Seared Scallops served in a bed of a Parmesan Fondue with shaved Black Truffle The filet of Branzino was amazing!! Branzino alla Griglia Servito con Cucuzza e Menta Grilled Mediterranean Sea Bass served on a bed Braised Sicilian Cucuzza with a Blood Orange Reduction The bison bolognesa was amazing as well! Great wine Overall barrique venice was a hot and we will be back
Have been curious for a long time wanting to check out this restaurant and finally had the opportunity to do so. They did not disappoint. Everything from the ambiance to the service to the food to the wine selection to the desert made this an exceptional dining experience. The sea bass was so perfectly cooked and seasoned it was easily the best I've ever had. The intimate yet sufficiently spacious and insulated seating elevate the experience making it more European. I highly recommend.
We keep coming back to this jam of a restaurant. Consistency in great flavors, the best homemade pasta dishes. My favorite is the beet pasta with ragu and the pappardelle with rabbit, these two dish that keeps us coming back for more. Also they have really good daily specials.
Delicious Italian cuisine!!! My family went as a first try and everyone enjoyed their meal!! The staff is very friendly and accommodating- our ‘waiter’ was probably the GM or owner and he is simply the best, a very warm and personable family man!! The wine he suggested was impeccable and the food was incredible. The menu is short and sweet. We had our 8 month old there who is a very active little boy and when asked for more spoons to play with or his own pasta dish they did so with genuine warmth. We tried all of the desserts and man oh man….. I daydream about them all (a little too much…. My husband daydreams about the pasta)….We will be back for sure!!
Classy Italian with first rate food, daily specials, an intimate, candlelite, ambience (although it can get a little noisy) and good service. Valet parking is reasonably priced. Our three course meal for 3 cost $300 before tip. This is the second time we've dined here and I would very happily return.
This restaurant should be considered for a Michelin rating. We ate the watercress salad with pecorino cheese and the chef's special tagiliolini with quail ragu sauce that was amazing. Antonio was a great host and Micheal gave us incredible service. This was all underneath wooden beams which gave us clear view of the sky and moon. Absolutely Amazing!!
The best. Simple, delicious, consistent Italian food. Small menu but all is well done. Lovely outdoor seating especially. Always feels like a hidden gem.
I've come here twice, once with a dear friend for my birthday and once on a date and both were lovely experiences. The aesthetic is nice, though very dimly lit. I've only ever sat outside and the restaurant resembles a small Italian hole in the wall. Both times I've gotten their specialty Red Beet Pasta- which is utterly delectable. Fair warning, it is very heavy, and I'm sure is probably 1200+ calories but very flavorful and you get more bang out of your buck than some of their other items. Parking is kinda hard- I've always had to park 10 minutes walk away but they have a valet.
Incredible and underrated!! Some of the best hand-made pastas in the city! The service staff and team are attentive and they offer an incredible Italian wine list that has a wine for every occasion or meal. Highly recommend the orecchiette pasta as well as the white truffle scallops! Love this place!
Barrique Venice is a charming and unique spot that feels like stepping into a trendy Italian grandmother’s home—perfect for a cozy date night. The service was outstanding—attentive without being overbearing. Our server was especially helpful when we mentioned we weren’t big wine drinkers, offering thoughtful recommendations with clear explanations, all in a warm and approachable way. I tried the Linguini Nere Aragosta, and it was incredible. The flavors were rich and bold, making it a standout dish. Overall, this is a place I’d gladly visit again. Great atmosphere, exceptional food, and welcoming service make it a true gem.
Always a delight. We have not been there in a while and was happy yo see their outdoor dining area. Very comfortable and roomy. Food is as before excellent. Good variety of dishes. Excellent wine list and they offer tastes before ordering. Very helpful staff with both wine and food choices.
Wonderful meal. The space is beautiful, cozy candlelit, you feel like you’re in an Italian farmhouse. The food is delicious. The spinach tagliatelle with a lamb ragu was the special, and it was incredible. Better even than the amazing beet pasta with quail ragu. And the service was perfect. So happy to find this beautiful spot.
Amazing dineLA experience. Probably one of the best Italian restaurants in Los Angeles. Highly recommend
Wow dinner here was phenomenal. My partner and I came here for our anniversary and had such an amazing experience. Great atmosphere, romantic balcony seating, fantastic service (I wish I remembered our server’s name!), and the food - wow! I’ll be thinking about their scallops, quail egg pasta, and filet mignon for a long time.
Antonio is the man. Great food great wine great romance. Bring someone special here and be wow’d, double date, bring your fiends
Such a wonderful dining experience! The food was not only delicious but also made with so much care and attention to detail. The cozy atmosphere and friendly service made it feel really special. Highly recommend!
Bravo. This is the way pasta should always be prepared. Not too oily, ingredients used perfectly. I ordered the Linguine Nere. I can't remember pasta ever tasting this good. And the prosciutto! Lean, red.. this place is special. Can't believe I've lived in the area and tonight was my first time here!
This must be one of the best restaurants in the US. The Barrique is a very small and cozy location with rustic interior. The owner is a friendly and funny Italian who truly loves the craft of creating wonderful Italian dishes. They have a huge wine list with many delicious Italian wines, including the Alteo, one of the best Amarones out there. We were lucky to catch a moment in time where he has a fresh and gigantic truffle. Starter, main and desert were incredibly delicious, and the friendly and funny service made the evening truly perfect. If you have the opportunity: go there!
Amazing! We ordered the red beet pasta and the filet and both were exceptional. Highly recommend both. The red beet pasta was full of flavor and the filet melted in your mouth. We also heard great things about the tiramisu but unfortunately we were too full! I look forward to coming back and ordering the tiramisu!!
Barrique was a memorable stop in Venice's challenging culinary climate. The service (Michael) was excellent, the manager (Tony) was also great. He and the chef co-own and have created a great experience. Outstanding pastas, an established wine list and invested staff made our dinner noteworthy.
We came here for a work dinner, but I feel it's a great spot for date night. We sat outside with great lamps and it was very comfortable. The pastas were all amazing, we tried a few for appetizers. The beet pasta is a must!
This amazing and quaint dining spot offers really great Italian cuisine, along with an amazing selection of Italian wine. They are known for their handmade pasta. We had a large group and every single person exclaimed at how great the meal was. I had the grilled octupus antipasto, along with a housemade beet pasta with rabbit ragu. The group shared a selection of desserts. We loved it all. On to of the great food was even greater service, as well.
I had a wonderful experience at Barrique Venice for my birthday. I've always seen the restaurant when I walk to Gold's but I never tried it until today. The wait staff is very kind and attentive, The atmosphere is formal, but not intimidatingly so. But, I'm sure you're wondering about the food, and on that they are magnificent. I started with the filet mignon spinach ravioli sitting in red sauce. I cleaned my plate and wiped it clean with the bread, divine. My next dish was the duck. I haven't tried the entire menu, but I highly reccomend you try this dish. The fat was soft and explosive with flavor, the string caramelized onions were a sweet pairing. I was thoroughly impressed with this place, and I know you would be too.
Great time, Owner was cool and nice! Good menu if you like unique and exotic food items, Also good drink and wine selection. Parking can be a little difficult but there is valet, Very good spot for date night or dinner for 3, Also outdoor seating. Very nice place, Thanks 👍
Best black ink lobster linguine I ever had and the waiter picked a wine that paired so well with it that I could taste how the two complemented each other (I'm not a wine connoisseur and even I could tell) It's cozy and tables are close but the owners made the smart move of covering the ceiling in sound proofing, so even with a lot of people there was no reverberation of sound at all. With my sensitive hearing, all the talking from other tables didn't bother me one bit. Thank you so much for that added touch. I wish more restaurants would do the same
Love this place. Have never left a review till now. The staff is great. We had 2 babies in our party. They made room for us and offered to keep any bags and strollers in a side room. The small quaint upstairs dining room is perfectly light for a romantic evening dinner. Not too bright or dark. The food was delicious, you can't beat homemade pasta. Italian is one of my favorite cuisines. We had: - rabbit ragu parpadelle Great taste. Pasta was perfectly cooked - filet mignon ravioli Great taste and a moderate serving. - sea bass Great taste and perfectly cooked - lamb loin special The lamb was tender with a pistachio crust. - steak tartare Perfectly seasoned with a quail egg I frequent this place every couple of month when in the venice area.
I will go back! Biggest standout was the romantic, candlelit ambiance (at least in the upstairs room -- there is more relaxed, outdoors seating as well). Attentive service worthy of Michelin starred restaurants. Beautiful menu of pasta and non-pasta entrees. My favorites were the starters: watercress salad -- sounds unimpressive but was lovely and nutty -- scallops that were buttery tender, and octopus. My favorite desser was the Crema. Only cons are that I would have like more flavor in the three pastas I tried, and the wine selection was modest.
This a fantastic date night dinner spot. My boyfriend and I stopped by on Monday and I can’t stop thinking about how fantastic the food and wine was. Erin and the rest of the staff took fantastic care of us and gave great recommendations from the menu. I will definitely be back!
An extremely romantic and delicious restaurant in Venice. I love how it’s in an old yellow house as it gives it a lot of charm. They have indoor and outdoor seating and both are lit by candlelight so it really adds to the ambience. They offer valet parking however, we were able to find street parking a half a block away for a 7PM Saturday dinner. The menu is pretty small in terms of options, but each of the dishes listed sounded great. They had two specials last night, and I chose one of them as my starter. To start I had the Black Truffle Beef Carpaccio, and it was honestly one of the better ones I have had in years. I would say it’s my second favorite in Los Angeles, the first being Giorgio Baldi’s White Truffle Carpaccio. This one was honestly absolutely delicious and I will be craving it for weeks after eating it, although a bit expensive for $37. We also ordered the Prosciutto and Burrata starter which was fantastic and a healthy sized portion. For my entrée, I chose the Black Squid Ink Linguine with lobster and mushrooms, and it was terrific. There was a lot of lobster meat and the pasta was cooked perfectly. The only downside we had was that service was a bit slow, especially in terms of drink refills. I won’t hold it against them though because every table was taken and it was a pretty busy evening. Overall a fantastic restaurant and I would recommend to anyone looking for a delicious Italian dinner or a great date spot.
really wasn't expecting to be blown away, as I'd been here before when it was Ado. But every single thing about this experience was lovely. We dined downstairs with a party of six, right next to the kitchen. You'd think that would be a detractor, but it added to the friendly, homey ambiance. Alessandro (Owner? Head chef? no idea) was our server, and he expertly guided us through wine pairings etc. Don't miss the octopus appetizer! From the branzino to the boar pasta to the fillets, every dish was stellar. AND we tried every one of their desserts because they were all so tempting we couldn't decide on only one. The restaurant is very small. Some might find it too tight, but we found it charming. They do have valet, so parking is a breeze. I'll be going back as soon as I can.
Awesome dining experience. Great atmosphere, delicious food and wine. The service was quite pleasant! I had the Pici Amatriciana (spelling?) haha. I wanted to mop the plate it was so good. Friends had duck, squid ink lobster pasta, and the bolognese special. Not a scrap of food remained on any plates. Wine list was Italian and delectable. Special appetizer of ceviche sea bass was wow good.
Barrique is easily one of my absolute favorite Italian restaurants in Los Angeles. The ambiance alone deserves praise. It’s cozy, understated, and quietly refined. It’s the kind of place that reminds me of intimate restaurants I’ve loved in Maine and Switzerland. Nothing flashy, nothing forced, just warm, confident elegance. And for the romantics out there… this is exactly where you go to remember why you fell in love with your partner in the first place. A few personal favorites: The pan-seared scallops are extraordinary. Served over fondue and finished with delicate shavings of black truffle, the dish feels almost sinful. Rich, balanced, and unforgettable. If you’re fortunate enough to catch it during one of their menu rotations, the beef carpaccio is an absolute must. It’s easily the most unique preparation I’ve encountered in all my restaurant-hopping years. If you appreciate fondue, this dish will absolutely ruin lesser versions for you forever. And then there is my ritual order. The dish I cannot bring myself to skip: Tagliolini Rossi con Ragu di Quaglia in Fonduta di Taleggio — their famous beet pasta with quail ragu. I rarely encounter a plate so compelling that it prevents me from exploring other options, yet here we are. I’ve even made it a habit of bringing friends along purely so I can sample additional dishes while remaining loyal to my obsession. That’s all I’ll say for now. If this doesn’t spark your curiosity, I truly don’t mind. More reservations for me.
Barrique in Venice Beach is a culinary GAME CHANGER! I just had the most incredible Italian food experience at Barrique, and I'm still dreaming about that Homemade Pappardelle with Rabbit Ragu', Prunes, and Porcini Mushrooms... Serious foodie heaven! The pasta was perfectly cooked, the rabbit ragu' was rich and savory, and those prunes added a sweet and tangy twist. And let's talk about the porcini mushrooms. The service was top-notch, and the atmosphere was cozy and inviting. Can't wait to go back and try more of their dishes! If you're in Venice Beach, DO. NOT. MISS. Barrique. Trust me, your taste buds will thank you!
From the moment you walk in, you know you’re in for an experience. The restaurant is located in an old house, which gives it a unique atmosphere. Our server immediately intrigued us with the night's specials and gave us a great tour of the menu. We started with the scallops with fresh truffle, followed by two pastas for our mains. The filet mignon ravioli was great, but the beet pasta with quail ragu was fantastic (I honestly wonder how many birds go into one portion! lol). We finished with the panna cotta and chocolate cake, which were just okay. The wine selection was limited but unique—I highly recommend the Kerner.
Such a charming Italian spot tucked into a cozy yellow house that feels like a hidden gem in Venice. The famous beet pasta with quail ragu was absolutely phenomenal — rich, earthy, and totally unique. Every dish felt thoughtfully crafted, and the ambiance was intimate without being fussy. Service was warm, attentive, and added to the overall experience. A perfect spot for a romantic dinner or special night out.
Here’s an expanded version with more than 220 characters for Google Maps: An unforgettable dining experience—elegant, romantic, and full of charm. The chocolate pasta was a standout, both surprising and delicious. Fresh, handmade pasta across the board and an exceptional wine list rounded out a perfect evening.
We’d gone there last summer for my father’s birthday so when came time to choose a restaurant for my birthday celebration I still had the boar ragu pasta in mind. We went back and the food was still as exceptional as it was last year. Maybe a bit disappointed that the menu isn’t updated more frequently. They obviously know what they’re doing with their flavors…
Great dining experience with an attentive and knowledgeable wait staff. The restaurant it's self is beautiful, the food excellent and well presented and the wine list was exceptional. This is definitely my favorite restaurant in the Venice/Santa Monica area right now. My notable plusses: desserts were awesome, and the kitchen and the wait staff tends to speak fluent Italian(good sign for food). My only negative: beer/wine only so no cocktails, but by no means is this enough to dissuade me from coming here.
Barrique offers an intimate dining experience with a mix of hits and misses on the menu. The 18-month aged prosciutto and burrata appetizer delighted with its flavors, while the octopus fell short in texture. The standout dish was undeniably the beet pasta, an absolute gem that left a lasting impression. However, the ribeye main dish, though good, suffered from an abundance of fatty pieces, detracting slightly from its overall appeal. The dessert, a Panna cotta with a cherry tart topping, was a delightful conclusion to the meal, showcasing a perfect balance of sweetness and tanginess that left me thoroughly satisfied. The ambiance of Barrique is pleasant, and the service is attentive without being overbearing. While not every dish hit the mark, the standout offerings make it worth a visit for those seeking inventive Italian cuisine in Venice. Overall, Barrique provides a solid dining experience that still warrants a recommendation
10/10 experience here across the board. The atmosphere was so intimate and classy. We felt like we were in Europe. The service was literally amazing, shout out Miguel for being such a knowledgeable and friendly server. Lastly the food was out of this world. Would go back in a heartbeat!!
A wonderful and romantic restaurant! I was looking for a place to share a very special occasion, and luckily I found one in Barrique. The servers are attentive and knowledgeable, providing a high-class level of service. Every dish we ordered was spectacular, and kept me thinking about it for days afterwards. The standout dishes were the wild boar Ragu, the duck breast over caramlized onions, and the scallops. The desserts were amazing as well to finish off a very memorable meal.
Outstanding meal from start to finish. I was part of a large party that dined in the outdoor garden at the restaurant and we were so well taken care of by Miguel and his team. There was even a dog in our party and the servers took the time to give a bowl of water to make their littlest guest comfortable. When it came time to order the wine, Miguel was quite knowledgeable and was able to share a few suggestions. The white we shared with the table was the perfect accompaniment to our meals, and helped to enhance their exceptional flavors. We had three different appetizers, several mains and dessert, and every single bite was delicious. We shared: the scallops, which came covered in truffle shavings and a yummy white sauce (a truly decadent plate), the caprese salad which had a beautiful, mild but flavorful mozzarella, gorgeous heirlooms and the freshest Basil, and a prosciutto/ breasaola plate with arugula-- a delicious grouping that sang together. I had the squid ink linguini with a red lobster sauce and finished with the ricotta cheesecake. Others had the Crema, which was as yummy as it was beautiful. Everything was so delicious and every server so delightful. We had a beautiful evening and would highly recommend this restaurant.
Came here for a graduation dinner. Incredible experience. Service was top tier and the friendliness and professionalism from everyone here was amazing. Overall the experience was really great, and the food was even better. Delicious meals as you can see from the pictures. They were also very filling and portioned just right. This restaurant also has an incredible ambiance and is a great place to celebrate a special occasion or to impress a special date. Highly recommended!
This little yellow house restaurant produces amazing food. It does live up to its Michelin Star status. During this COVID-19 time, the restaurant sets up outdoor dining which added extra romantic vibes and charms to the dining scene. With candle lights, we felt the food tasted extra delicious. We came here to celebrate our daughter’s birthday and the restaurant was extra accommodating as we arrived earlier than our reservation time. The service was excellent. We were given recommendations with wine and food selection. We ordered two appetizers that included their famous Grilled Octopus served with Smoked potato, Green Beans and an Aioli Dressing. The flavor was so pleasing to our taste palates. The other appetizer we got was the 18-Months Black Label Prosciutto di Parma and Burrata Cheese. I have to say this one of the best prosciutto dish I have ever had. The prosciutto was perfectly cured and flavor was unbelievably delicious. For our main dishes, I got the Homemade Pappardelle noodle served with Rabbit Ragu' Prunes and Porcini Sauce. The pasta was cooked al dente to my liking which is an indication or authentic Italian cooking. The taste of the sauce was out of this world. The rest of the family ordered Home-Made Red Beet Tagliolini Pasta in a Marsala Quail Ragú served on a bed of Taleggio Cheese Fondue, Home-Made Black Ink Linguine sautéed with Lobster and Wild Mushrooms, and the Home-Made Cacao Tagliatelle with an Amarone Wild Boar Ragú. These are all fabulous dishes. My family liked them a lot and gave praises for their flavor and taste. We didn’t get any desserts as we had a cake at home for the birthday celebration. We will be back to try them. We had a very satisfied birthday girl after the meal.
My wife and I met friends for dinner at Barrique and had an fantastic experience! Word on the street is, they have a pasta dish that might be the best in the world. Being a pasta pilgrim hell bent on trying pasta from LA to Rome, I am happy to report they do in fact have one of the tastiest pasta dishes in the world! We started with a variety of small plates that included delicious creamy burrata, salad and grilled octopus. For the pasta...you will need to go and just ask for the best pasta in the world. 🎤💧
Everything here is amazing! The dim romantic lighting and seating arrangement was so intimate. We started off with scallops and burrata de procuitto. The scallops were seasoned well and cooked to perfection. We then had the red beet quail pasta and black cod. Everything was top notch and would come back to try their other dishes.
The Scallops in the fondue antipasto was incredible, perfectly cooked and flavored! The bread was alright but the pasta is freshly made to perfection. The Fish was delicious, and the wine was lovely. It is a tiny, colorful restaurant on pricier side, but worth it.
Everything was good. But at this price point, everything needs to be great or else it's... overpriced.
Super romatic atmosphere. It was very cute, the kitchen is on the bottom floor and you walk passed it, up the stairs to be seated. All the lights were dim. I didnt like that they put tips on the menu and added a 3% employee charge as well. However the staff was friendly and the experience was fun
This was a tough one to review decisively. DO NOT MAKE A RESERVATION ON YELP. according to the hostess, they apparently can’t get yelp to stop allowing reservations to be made. Even though my reservation was confirmed by text and email, I arrived to find out I didn’t have one at all. Regardless, the hostess found us a table after 5 minutes. It was outside, tucked all the way in the corner, but either way I was grateful for her effort in finding a solution in light of the frustrating situation. Then after sitting down I was overwhelmed with how incredibly loud it was, especially being outside. I mean like.. have to literally yell just to hear each other across the table. Pretty surprising based on all the reviews about how intimate and romantic the vibe was, this was the exact opposite. Then the rain picked up, and although we were under cover, the sides were only partially covered so right after the first course arrived.. we starting getting misted pretty heavily as time went on. It’s a bummer things started off so poorly, because our server was truly incredible. He oozed knowledge, passion, and enthusiasm. Best service I’ve had in a very long time. The food was hit or miss for me, with the wild boar Ragu being the clear stand out of the evening. Absolutely delicious, a perfect dish in every way. We also go the filet and the prosciutto, both were good, but didn’t leave a lasting impression either. For the price point, I expected a little better.
I put off trying this spot for so long and I have no idea why because this place is a MUST HAVE. You know a spot is good when it makes you going out of your country and their octopus did that for me. I got one of their "tagliolini" too and "lunguini" just say WOW. The service is great and fairly quick too. A little bit disappointed about their dessert menu not very rich minus one star
Excellent freshly chef prepared pasta dishes- very authentic and delicious. Our server Michael was cool and provided world class service. The watercress salad was not only unique , but, very tasty . We had a 3 course vegetarian option and every dish including the desert was excellent . We had a reservation, yet we did not get prime seating. Upstairs the seating was extremely crowded ( not at all good ) and you could hear every conversation from the next table. This is a bad part of the evening . Do not recommend to take your first date if they plan to seat you upstairs.
Intimate Italian spot in Venice. Came here for my friend’s birthday dinner and we had a prefixe menu, with shared apps and desserts, and chosen entrees. The burrata and the salad were both good, but my favorite was the tuna tartare. I had the branzino for my entree; it’s good if you have a lighter appetite. I preferred the bolognese that had al dente pasta with a hearty sauce. The rigatoni was the vegetarian friendly option and was solid. For dessert, I liked the opera cakes which came with two small pieces. This spot is good for date nights and I suggest opting to sit outside. Street parking available. There is one restroom inside on the ground floor and another upstairs.
Made a reservation through opentable for dinner and was promptly seated. It’s an outdoor patio kind of seating with heated lamps. Scallop appetizer was incredible, tender and flavorful. The octopus leg appetizer was okay but not my favorite, flavor was lacking and nothing impressive. Red beet pasta was tasty and well balanced as well as the lobster special pasta although a few strands of noodles were undercooked. The cheesecake dessert was solid but a bit harder in texture. Overall decent but very pricey.
We were a party of four to celebrate a birthday. Our friends were running late,so we decided to order some appetizers while we wait. Apparently there's a military barracks rule,no food served until the whole platoon is in place. Okey....finally we got all together and placed an order. That micro table barely fit our 3 appetizers. "Ambient light" made quite impossible to actually see what we eat. Thankfully it tasted quite good. Wine list was surprisingly unaffordable for us. There was only ONE bottle under $100 and it tasted like famous "Charles Shaw". Next surprise was quite fast main courses serving. My wife didn't finish her appetizer yet,but since there's no extra empty inch on that micro table the server made her either rush I give away unfinished dish. Again,to be quite objective I have to admit the food was good. All 4 dishes we ordered, but the overall experience was worth 2 stars , especially after we received $340 bill. I'd expect much pleasant dinner experience for that money. P.S one of the reviews here was about that service health insurance. I'll join that author,as well. No happy about being forced to pay someone expenses.
This place was quite ok. I came for having a quick late lunch, so ordered ravioli with pumpkin. It came 20 m+ after order and together with a water I’ve payed 44$ for ravioli with a lot of dough. I’d not come here again. Also I’ve asked for a check twice and was running around floors to catch someone who actually can give me a check.
Was at Barrique on Saturday and had an unexpected experience at this well rated restaurant. We were 8 of us and spent $1000 on dinner. 3 of us were vegetarians. They only had one vegetarian option and when asked the server if other options could be prepared was told that this was an Italian restaurant and the vegetarians could eat Salad as they had 2 salad options. I requested the server to check with the chef and was told that they could prepare a pasta with truffles. I am from the NYC area and am not used to being given an outright NO for. Vegetarian request. Most restaurants will make some adjustments and prepare a vegetarian dish on request. A bit disappointed with the servers approach to find options. Also we had a reservation at 730 and we showed up at 720. We were told by the front desk lady that we were early and needed to come back at 730. We show at 740 and told that the guests were paying for the check. It took them another 20 minutes to seat us after that nothing was mentioned. A bit snooty for a high end restaurant. Its quite odd that a high end place in Venice exhibited snooty behavior by the front desk and server for the table.
Food is very good. Service surprisingly, grindingly slow and inattentive, but still kind. Seating very tight and uncomfortable. Loud. The service slowness is a deal killer for me
We recently dined for dinner at Barrique for Dine LA and we were very underwhelmed & disappointed. We were looking forward to going & trying this neighborhood spot, yet we walked out quite bummed. The ambiance is cozy and cute. However, seating outside was cold, even with heat lamps and seating inside was like sitting on a bus side to side with others, dining with your party, but hearing the entire conversation of another couple sitting way too close to you. The server was not engaging & was not around. We had to flag him down and wait when we needed something and had to send food back to be further cooked. The ceviche was good, the vegetables were fresh, we did have a filet, which was small but tasty. We also ordered the sea bass and could have sworn it was mahi mahi, it was a bit dry & marginal at best. The panna cotta desert tasted & looked like whipped cream, it was not what we know to be true tasting. Same with the cheesecake, it was a reinvention that we didn't care for. We did not think this meal was a standout whatsoever and it was not cheap!
It was our first time and was expecting better. It was our anniversary and we heard this restaurant was special and romantic so we chose for a special dinner. First off, couldn’t find a bottle wine that was suitable and reasonable priced - they only have Italian wines. Second, the candle light was nice, but they were playing punk type hard metal music which was not romantic or nice to listen to at an expensive dinner at all. Third, food was good, but when we found out price of the special beef cheeks once we got the check, it was ridiculous and not worth at $68 for the entree. Service was ok.. Not sure if we would go back unfortunately.
The last two times I went to this restaurant several years ago,I loved it and was extremely excited to go back. We went for a friend's birthday and there were 8 people. Nobody enjoyed their dishes. It was extremely overpriced for extremely bland, mediocre food. Beware of hidden fees. It ended up being approximately $100 per person and none of us were happy with our food.
Food was good but the service was awful. They had one waiter and busser for 15 tables last night. We had to wait over half an hour to pay and it took them 15 to greet us. Sadly last time I was here it was the same. If the service was better I would go regularly but for the price the service needs a large upgrade.
Make sure you keep your receipt! Great atmosphere and friendly service, mainly from the waiters though. We ordered a number of different things off menu. Some were average and others good. Portion sizes are very small (even from perspective of a healthy family that normally struggles to fully finish most restaurant meals). Very good wine list. However, completely untrustworthy and fraudulent restaurant. The transaction amount shown on statement the following day did not match authorised bill amount paid on the evening. Restaurant added a further approximate 20% themselves after leaving. Chase bank have fortunately confirmed this and refunded the difference, and are now investigating this as fraud.
We drove 30 minutes to give this restaurant a second chance, but unfortunately the service was the worst. We asked the waiter, named ROBERTO, we wanted him to recommend us something, or to help us better understand the menu but he did not want to recommend anything and always with a dismissive attitude and unwilling to explain. What a lack of respect honestly, if they don't hire nice people they will not be able to get customer loyalty. The busser or food runner, was very kind, very helpful and with an incredible attitude, undoubtedly the only good thing about the experience, because the food was not only expensive but also very regular.
My partner took me for my birthday and we unfortunately could not get the upstairs seating which was ok. We ordered two pasta dishes, which were pretty good. We ordered a steak and wanted it medium rare. They gave us a wrong dish at first, and then second time around they gave us an overcooked dish with some medium rare and some super well done and charred. The worst part was, they served us the same dish that was rare rehired that one and gave us the same exact quantity of meat. They also failed to check in after we got our appetizers essentially. For a birthday dinner that ended up costing 200+ dollars, there are much better options to spend your special day. Especially also due to the fact that we ordered zero alcohol. I will never be back in this restaurant due to this really disappointing and underwhelming experience.
