Wonderful food, great vibes, and views.
The food was great. We ordered breakfast and lunch delivered to the ferry to the Channel Islands. It was way too much food. We figured one breakfast burrito could have easily fed two people.
We ordered a picnic lunch to take to channel island and although the boat couldn’t go because of weather, it was the best lunch I have ever had. Perfect in every detail. My full recommendation.
We fell in love with this little gem of a place! The people, food and atmosphere are perfect. Our little get away place for the best clam chowderand Bloody Mary's. Our little dog is welcome and enjoys meeting the friendly people.
We had the breakfast burrito and the quesadilla and they were very good with large portions. We will get 2 meals out of this order. The potatoes are nice and crispy and salted just right. We will come here again when we are in the area. Most seating is outside but they do have 7 tables inside.
Had a yummy breakfast here. There was outdoor seating but we chose the covered patio which has great views of the harbor. It was $44 for 2 full breakfast and a coffee which seems standard for the area. Food was great. No complaints!
One of those places where you go, sit down, interact with the server (the woman, behind the man, behind the restaurant), get your food, relax, absorb the ambiance, and think "this place is great..." I must admit that I purposely don't review spots-so-good-that-I-want-to-keep-to-myself... but small businesses are the exception. Great spot, with great food, run by great people.
This was our first visit. We waited 30 min in line, which we were told was about average. The servings are large and filling, the other patrons and the staff are friendly and respectful with a smile. Seating options are indoors, covered patio, or picnic tables on the grass. I had the calamari sandwich and it was hot and tender. My party also has the bread bowl and the Hawaiian sandwich.
Great spot to eat with our dogs. Picnic tables on the grass. Order at counter and find a table. Food is really good. Fish and chips and veggie burger were delicious. Breakfast is supposed to be great so we will definitely be back to try that. Sometimes they have live music which makes for a relaxed vibe. Highly recommended.
Terrific service, food quality is above my expectations… nice variety of food, and they have healthy as well as guilty options. I’ll be back for the onion rings! I had a tasty, simple quesadilla… and it was perfect. Nice selection of beer, wine, and cocktails. If you want a relaxed day at the harbor, Channel Islands National Park Center, a walk on the beach and lunch… this is your place!
Very friendly and conscious servers. I like that there are several different seating options. The picnic tables on the lawn are perfect for families. We ate outside under the covered patio at a table with small fire pit. We all had the fish n chips. (Mahimahi). Excellent. Only complaint is that the French fries were too good. Couldn't stop eating them.
Solid food and an incredible location.
We enjoyed a much needed down time away from LA area while visiting. Great find in marina next to channel islands visitor center. Pleasant staff, good food, especially the salsa!, great view. Best food of whole trip!
Great food and tiki drinks. Friendly, honest service. We tried the fish and chips and calamari sandwich and shared a couple of different tiki drinks
My GF and I love this place! It's the jewel of the Ventura harbor!! Wonderful ambiance, good food and excellent drinks AND service!! They don't scrimp on the alcohol either! Kereoke on Fridays, Bands on Thursdays, and a car show on every first Sunday of the month from 3-6 pm and if you bring a pre 72 classic car, you get a discount on grub and grog!!
Fun harbor-side cafe. Excellent breakfast, huge portions! Some of us had Hawaiian oatmeal with pineapple, breakfast burritos or enchiladas, toast with fresh raspberry jam, breakfast sandwiches with fresh fruit, and other dishes. All were really tasty. A group of people with ukuleles were gathering and began to jam. Wonderful atmosphere by the boats in the harbor, with the musicians and well-kept outdoor tables to dine at. I'll go back! Loved the 1958 (?) Light blue Corvette in the parking lot!
Nice at the end of the harbor. Outside lawn picnic table and music. Oktoberfest beers 🍻 on tap. Free 🆓🅿️. Fish tacos 🌮 fries 🍟🤤
Go to the Harbor Cove Cafe and see for yourself. It's at the end of the road. They have great food great service basically line up at the window and order your stuff and then they'll take it out to you or you can pick it up right around the corner of the building. Saturday ukulele Jam. 10:00 to noon. Learn ukulele! Free, entertaining and educational.
We found this place visiting the Channel Islands National Park. It was so good, we went back the next day. We were in a large group where everyone ordered something different and nothing disappointed. Everything is freshly made, even the mixers for the drinks. So glad we found this place. It looked crowded on a Saturday afternoon but the service was quick without harming the quality.
I went here on a whim and boy was I surprised! I spent my childhood in Hawaii so I was happy to see Spam and Kalua Pork on the menu. Naturally, I ordered a Spam breakfast burrito. Unfortunately, they gave me a sausage burrito instead. I was in a rush otherwise I would have asked for a replacement. Even with the wrong protein, I was blown away by the flavors of the burrito and the salsa they served with it. Great service at the register, great food and how do you beat eating right by the water? Even with the wrong item, I still stand by a 5 star review. Great little spot!
It truly reminded me the Big Island 🤗 The mahi mahi sandwich and the mahi mahi plate were delightful
Off the beaten path at the end of the harbor and away from the busy retail center. Come here for great food and drinks after a long day at the beach or work and you won't be disappointed! The menu is always evolving, a credit to the establishment's commitment to customer service.
First time here. Ordered cod basket with cole slaw and fries. Short lunch line, food was ready fast, and service was attentive. Nice view of harbor. Food was all very good. The cod was lightly battered and dissolved in the mouth. The fries were surprisingly good and really elevated the whole meal. Thin cut (like McDonald's, but the comparison ends there), and each fry had a perfectly light crisp without being overdone in the least. My daughter got a club sandwich she couldn't finish. I had a bite of her sourdough bread (not the sandwich), and it was very flavorful. You could tell it was quality sourdough. I definitely plan to visit again the next time I'm around.
Ate breakfast there 3 days before Chamnel island trips - Hawaiian burrito, coffees, etc all great; nice outside with views of boats
We really enjoyed the Ahi Ahi bowl. The tuna was outstanding. Plating was beautiful done and included a orchid blossom. I can highly recommend this place.
We love coming here as a family. The drinks are fantastic, the food is delicious, and they have a grassy area for the kids to run around! We go on Friday nights for karaoke at a reasonable time and always have so much fun!
Ventura is our little getaway from the SFV. We just happened to find this gem as we looked for coffee. First I must say all the young ladies working there were exceptional. Clear and concise. The breakfast burrito was fantastic and plentiful. The coffee was fantastic. The view was amazing. We loved everything about the place and will absolutely be returning when we head back up to Ventura!
Ohhhh, this location is fabulous!! Forget the food, sit on the patio and enjoy the view of the harbor and boats going by. On the subject of food, I only had a coffee and gluten free cookie, but, from what I could see, the breakfast burrito looked like a big seller. Very fast, efficient and very friendly service. All goods are sourced locally. Dog friendly with patio seating as well as nearby picnic tables.
We were there for lunch and managed to get a table on the deck. It's a great environment - the live music added to the relaxed atmosphere. Our food, x2 poke bowls, a veg head wrap and a Loco Moco - absolutely delicious, generous portions and served quickly and with a smile. It was our first visit and we're looking forward to the next...
Breakfast with a view, dog friendly and tasty food is what keeps us coming back! Note, they stop taking orders/serving while they shift from breakfast to lunch, so you may have to wait a bit if you arrive in between. And don't miss the ukulele group that regularly plays together on the lawn!
What a great place to have lunch. We were looking for a dog friendly place to grab lunch and relax for a few minutes and saw other google reviews for Harbor Cove and decided to check it out. It was awesome. Food was good (especially the fries). Locations was great, and we had a very nice lunch while the dog chilled out under the table. Would totally recommend Harbor Cove Cafe.
We had never eaten here but it was really good. My wife and mom had a shrimp bowl named Lava You Shrimp. I had Mahi Mahi fish tacos. Both dishes were great!! I would definitely eat here again.
Nice spot for some food next to the harbor. I had the California Burger which comes with bacon and avocado, very good. Wife had the BLTA with a side of clam chowder, both good. One son had the calamari sandwich which was a little rubbery. Other son had the Huli Huli chicken and rice bowl which was good. Very relaxing area. Beach is on the other side.
Can't say enough good things about this place. The service, food, location and view from your table is perfect. Plenty of options to sit outside and take in the harbor. Everyone who works there was super friendly and the breakfast burrito is huge and tastes amazing. Highly recommend this place.
Breakfast was fantastic. The Hawaiian oatmeal is worth getting sacrificing for. Fantastic little Bloody Mary The breads and homemade jam was really good as well. The service was incredibly friendly. Can't beat the location and ambience.
So aside from having the kindest staff ever! Their food is also amazing and the burgers are massive! Hard to find a gem like this in such a beautiful location with good food, good people and good ranch lol. I was locked out of my car and needed a place to hang out and wait with my extremely active 2 year old daughter after a day at the beach, and even tho we looked like beach hobos they were so sweet to us and helped me get my daughter into a highchair so I could call roadside assistance. Now a tow truck is on the way and I am enjoying an amazing beer and some amazing food on the bay while I wait. Cheers!
A great experience overall. They have some good food and incredible staff. The atmosphere is amazing too. The restaurant gets its name from its location, residing next to the Ventura Harbor. I believe this restaurant is a good place to go for nice day at the harbor.
Harbor Cove Cafe is my favorite spot to eat and has been for many years. I usually have breakfast but today I had lunch with an amazing Cole slaw. Tuna melt on sourdough. Very tasty. Beautiful day, boats coming and going…
Here’s a strong, simple review you can use—short, warm, and to the point: ⸻ Harbor Cove Café is always a fantastic experience! The food is fresh, the portions are generous, and the atmosphere is unbeatable right by the water. The staff is friendly, quick, and genuinely welcoming every time. Whether you’re grabbing breakfast, lunch, or just a coffee by the ocean, this place never disappoints. Highly recommended!
I've only been for breakfast, but definitely plan to come back and try lunch and dinner. The breakfast burrito has yet to disappoint. The potatoes in it are perfectly crispy and the portions are generous. I keel wanting to try different menu items, but it's it's so good, why mess with perfection? I always sit outside (with my dog) and they have plenty of seating that is spaced apart and the music playing in the background is always soft enough not to interfere with conversation. 100% recommend.
The pineapple upside down cake alone is worth the drive. But the service, quality of food, and setting make take it over the top. Perfect for a casual but indulgent experience. Dog and family friendly and they have live music as well. Definitely give it a try!
We decided to grab a bite to eat before heading on our boat ride to Channel Islands National Park. We are so glad we walked over and gave it a try! My wife and I shared an egg scramble with Portuguese Sausage, bell peppers, and grilled onions with sourdough toast. We also shared a junior burrito. The lady taking our order at the window was so patient, kind and helpful! The folks that brought out our food and drinks were so friendly as well. We sat outside in the lovely weather, watched a sea lion climb into the back of a boat and nap. It was such a lovely visit. We will definitely come back if we are ever in the area again!
Excellent breakfast. I had the summer quesadillas with Avocado as my protein . My husband had the junior burrito (and it is still substantial). I was so hungry I took the photos after we started eating! Ha! You order at the window and take a number to your seat. They have seating on a covered patio but the grass seating was so nice .
Forgot to grab a pic of the beautiful plate of delicious food, but here's the aftermath. Two of us shared one kalua pork quesadilla... And still had food left over! The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is wonderful. Not too crowded at 10am on a Monday. Highly recommend Harbor Cove Cafe!
I absolutely love Harbor Cove Cafe! The staff is so nice. The food is super delicious and you can't beat the view! I know it's not easy on a rainy day to dine, but the food is worth getting and taking home! Breakfast, lunch, and dinner option as well as a fairly good bar if you're looking for a cocktail. I have not tried those, but I they have a lot of options as well as coffees and shakes. Please go try them!
Visited the dog friendly harbor cove Cafe and wasn't disappointed. The food was yummy, although pricey. But let's be honest, it's the atmosphere and convenience that bring you here. Parking is ample, and there is plenty of grass for your pup. They also have an egg and rice plate, especially for doggos. If your in the area definitely stop by there's drinks and so much more good food for lunch.
The breakfast burrito at Harbor Cove Cafe is the best! We went for breakfast and upgraded to a 14” breakfast burrito. We chose two meats to add to the burrito. We decided to try the Portuguese sausage and bacon. There are two types of salsa that go with the breakfast burrito, so we asked for both pico de gallo and spicy salsa. They cut the burrito in half for us to share. It was big enough for two people to eat. The burrito also had egg, cheese, and potatoes inside. The tortilla was fresh, warm, and flaky. We ate the burrito on the outdoor patio because we didn’t want to be in the sun. They also had plenty of picnic tables set up on the grass and an indoor dining room too. The outdoor dining is right on the marina and has a beautiful view of all the boats. We’ve only been on Saturday mornings and there has been ukulele players there playing on the grass area. The staff is very outgoing and helped us decide what to order. We have sat in the picnic tables and listened to the music while sipping mimosas. The workers also told us all about whale watching and the Channel Islands. She had some maps and magazines for us to look through while we ate. The back patio has a fire pit that you can sit next to. There is a parking lot in front of the restaurant but it seems to fill up fast. We have always gone early on Saturdays so parking hasn’t been a problem. This place is great for kids, dogs, and big groups too.
Good food with an amazing spot on the harbor and very close to the beach
Breakfast burritos were significant and heavy, tasted good and will fill you up! The salsa with the burritos was great and important. If you're having this burrito before getting on the boat for the Chanel Islands give your body time to digest as the ride can be rough and you might regret the heavy breakfast otherwise. If you're getting an Island Packers lunch to go, you might want to consider another option. Although the sandwiches are good, they are large and hard to eat so a bit messy in a place where you don't really want to deal with messy. Lattes were good and service was quick and kind!
What a great view for breakfast, sat outside on a beautiful morning to watch the boats and wildlife. The people who work here are super friendly (not many places where staff, customers and people waiting break out into song together). The food was good, nothing spectacular, but worth the price. I will be back.
Cozy walk-up cafe with lots of outdoor seating and plenty of parking. The breakfast portions are generous and the view is amazing. We were able to watch a flock of herons nest building while we waited to order and ate. The vibe is familiar and laid back and the food is pretty good. They have lots of fun coffee flavors too. Great place to come for a relaxed weekend breakfast on the harbor.
Enjoyed a yummy bloody Mary with the beautiful view. The junior size breakfast burrito was truly plenty! We hit a busy morning, but the service was great. It's a casual spot - get in line to place your order at the window and they will deliver it to your table. They have seating indoors and out.
This was our first visit. Took advantage of the overcast and sat outside. My family ordered the cod, shrimp and kids cheese burger. Unfortunately they were out of French fries and so we substituted with onion rings for $10. Also ordered a glass of the tangerine wheat beer. The fish was delicious. The beer batter was amazing! Definitely tastes fresh. The shrimp were big and tasty. The onion rings are some of the best I've had in a while. The beer was cold and refreshing. The kids cheese burger was devoured, so that tells me the quantity. My cousin ordered the fish tacos. By the time of his order the fries had returned. Service was good. Received our order in a reasonable time. Overall compared to the other fish and chip spots here I feel was much better. A little more expensive but you get what you pay for. Would definitely recommend and will return.
Great little spot to enjoy harbor views. The food is pretty basic, nothing gourmet. The drinks are really cute, I highly recommend the beachcomber. The outdoor sitting and ocean vibes are the reason to visit, but not necessarily for great food. The service is great, they have outdoor benches, inside sitting and a shaded patio. Dog friendly. On certain days they have outdoor music.
Just showed up at Harbor Cove Cafe after looking at their hours on Google. Since it showed open we arrived at 11:15. Sadly the lady at the counter said they were closed due to breakfast being over and lunch not starting for 15 mins?? Could have waited but why?? Off to somewhere else wh has accurate hours.
I live 10 mins away, the first time here. Great location, love it. But you have to order in a window first, then sit, Thank God for the view. Afterward, you have to clean up yourself. You do all the work, but they want you to tip once you pay. You do all the work!!! I tipped the girl who brought my food. I wanted a Bloody Mary, but it's not real Vodka. It's fermented 😏 they salted my eggs & bacon, didn't eat much. There's not much personality here. 😌 again, thank God for the view😉😊
I ordered the Keto breakfast (3 eggs, half avocado and cottage cheese). They were out of cottage cheese so told to pick a substitute. They said tomatoes or fruit. I have never liked tomatoes and fruit would not be keto. I asked if i could have a sausage, just one. No was the answer, so i didnt have anything. My companion said the view was lovely, but that was it. Have to agree. Her food wasnt that great either. I was part of a large hiking group. Won’t be back.
