First time trying Abu Omar. I was in the mood for a Shawarma and stopped by. I ordered their Beef Shawarma. It was delicious. Everything tasted fresh. The fries were freshly cooked and the sandwich came with extra sauce and pickles. Love the pickles! Nothing to complain about, I’ll be back.

My husband and I ordered two arabi meals - a beef and chicken. The shawarma was easily just as good as shawarma I have had in the middle east. The fries and pickles were also so good! I really enjoyed everything and will absolutely be back again!

I always order the shawarma bites from here, they’re absolutely delicious and incredibly tender, especially the beef ones! The flavor is always on point, and the meat is perfectly cooked every time. The food is 10 out of 10. I have had the shawarma combo and yesterday tried the shawarma quesadilla and it was amazing. I also tried their falafel and kibbeh and it’s better than the Spanish Quipe, wala. The service is always very welcoming. And the atmosphere is lively. Love that they offer Palestine Soda it’s so good. And the baklava is so good. Just choose anything and I promise you it’s all so scrumptious.

The owner is incredibly kind and welcoming, he went out of his way to offer us his special shawarma sauce and extra garlic. We tried both the mixed chicken and beef shawarma, as well as a chicken shawarma, and they were absolutely perfect. You can really taste the freshness of the meat and the homemade sauces. We loved everything about this place and will definitely be coming back with the whole family! Don’t mind the eaten shawarma it was too good to wait.

The food was so good and so full of flavor. On the side of most dishes the give you pickled veggie and those really set the meal off! We tried the lamb and the chicken wraps with a side of fried cauliflower. The cauliflower was amazing and quite different from others, this one seems to be fried without a batter but fried in some sort of seasonings maybe, I’m not sure, but it was so good I took an additional bowl to go! I’ll definitely go back.

With new owners (brothers).they have really stepped things up. Very clean store, friendly and helpful staff and a deli that’s food is next level. Great prices on all there inventory, gas specials we can all use. Good coffee, well lit and a safe place to stop and shop. The owners and employees have pride in what they do and truly focus on the customer experience. Robert (one of the owners) is a very smart and intelligent man who can hold insightful conversations and truly cares for the community he serves. It’s nice to see this in a local business as well as seeing how much pride and attention to detail they put into their business.

Abu Omar Halal Food is absolutely amazing! The falafel is hands down one of the best in Tampa—crispy on the outside, soft and flavorful on the inside. Everything tastes fresh and authentic. The place itself is very cozy and welcoming, making it perfect for a quick bite or a relaxed meal. Great food, great atmosphere, and definitely a spot I’ll keep coming back to. Highly recommended!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great place — Abu Omar Halal in Tampa! This is my third time here, and the food is consistently amazing. The doner is very tasty — juicy meat, fresh ingredients, perfectly balanced spices, and generous portions. I’d also like to highlight the staff. The guy at the register was very polite and friendly. And Halit, who was preparing the doner, did an amazing job — you can tell he really cares about quality and puts his heart into the food. My family and I are from Dubai, we moved to America a couple of years ago and haven’t had this amazing of a shawarma since we moved. Khaled, one of the workers there is the best servers ever!!!!! He was nice and talked to my family and I a lot, and it was refreshing to connect with such a bubbly, energetic, positive and kind person!!! I recommend anyone going to Tampa to stop by here. One of my biggest pet peeves is paying for outside food and it not being up to par, decent or edible. Some of these places have no pride in what they are serving and it shows. I really wanted to love this food after seeing it on social media. First for starts—their online ordering website will make you think that you are in fact getting a BOGO deal on a meal totaling $24 for 2 when in all actuality, the meal itself is only $14 in store—when you purchase 2, it’s 28 and not the $48+ dollars the website claims before applying this “discount”. Ordering from the website doing this bogo saves you about $4-$5. This should have been my first red flag.🚩 Now let’s get to the food. The rice was super dried out that it was inedible. The kofta was also dried out and they charge you $1.50 for the little squirt of sauce that they give you in the condiments container. The food had no flavor and was old and dry. I nearly choked to death trying to swallow the kofta, no lie. I am new to this area and this is the 2nd halal restaurant on this strip that I’ve tried, that has left me feeling ripped off due to the unacceptable quality and taste of their food. I will not patronize again nor will I return. This place was a total waste of money , time and gas. The food went in the trash! There was no pride or love in the preparation of this meal.

I was concerned to see freshly printed receipts placed directly on top of hot food. Thermal receipts commonly contain BPA or BPS, chemicals known to transfer easily—especially with heat and oily foods—and this is a well-documented food safety issue. Even if unintentional, this practice shows a lack of basic food-handling awareness. I hope management addresses this immediately, as customers should not have to worry about chemical contamination with their meals.
