First of all our waiter (René) was attentive and personable, making for a great experience! The food was delicious and plentiful. We split an entree (Roasted Chicken) and had the Goat Cheese and the meatballs. Lori said the Goat Cheese shareable plate was the best she's ever had. I would agree. We were also able to enjoy a beautiful sunset under the warmth of their heaters and fireflies on a cool January evening. We'll be back!
Amazing food and atmosphere. The waiter was kind but had a few hiccups but it happens to everyone no biggie. Ended up having 2 extra people in group and Elderwood accommodated and wrote a special happy birthday on my Mother in laws dessert. Eggs Benedict and hot vanilla latte is delicious here!!
We went there with a large group and made a reservation. We were seated right away. The only seating option for a group of 7 was outside on the roof. They do have portacool AC outside to help keep you cool, but it does kinda blow on you as you are eating. We turned it so it was facing away from the table slightly, also the sun was setting, so I would recommend bringing sunglasses. The food and drinks were great, they also have a small kids menu available upon request. The kid options were Mac and cheese, a burger and chicken. The burger and fries was a good kid option. I ordered the shrimp scampi, it was delicious. The Mostly sunny drink was also very good.
Elderwood has become one of our favorite places over the years ...especially for my birthday and special moments. While we didn’t make it for dinner this year, we still stopped in during the week of my birthday for a mid-day cocktail, and just being there brought all the magic back. The rooftop setting is unbeatable, perched on top of The Darling Hotel with beautiful views of downtown Visalia. Time it right, and you’ll catch the most stunning sunset. I’m always drawn to outdoor venues, and Elderwood delivers every time with its open-air elegance and golden-hour glow. We’re big fans of the Roaring 20s, which also happened to be our wedding celebration theme, so the vintage vibes here feel like home to us. We’ve had spontaneous dates that turned into nights of dancing and drinks, all starting with dinner or a quick drink at Elderwood. It’s not just a restaurant, it’s an experience. From the rooftop views to the downtown energy just steps away, this place will always be part of our love story. Highly recommend for anyone looking to create one of their own.
Had amazing experience having dinner at ElderWood Rooftop Restaurant, the Mexican Lager was perhaps the best lager I've had. Both Appetizers (1.shrimp 2. Pork belly) were properly cooked/tasty and well designed for presentation. The 12oz Angus Ribeye was amazing especially with the side of Garlic mashed potatoes. And the cherry on top is the view as the sunsets. Will definitely be returning to this establishment. Thank you ElderWood for making our trip rememberable.
First time here. Delightful cocktails and Delicious meal. Music was a little too loud, but we enjoyed ourselves. The staff had us move to another table to accommodate another group even though we had reservations and already began drinking our cocktails and eating our appetizer. We had a good time together. Daisy was a fabulous waitress.
Amazing ambience...the outdoors patio area is spectacular (Right in the Heart of Visalia, California)...great service, delicious food, and the perfect outing
Best eggs Benedict and staff was very friendly the atmosphere was refreshing it was on the top balcony 🥰
The food is very delicious and healthy. It was a great experience for the first time. The waiters were very attentive. I will come again next time. It is worth a visit. Recommended

An amazing experience. The atmosphere, the views, the service - all top notch. When I mentioned how great the food was to our server, Julia, she went to the chef and came back with a list of ingredients for the blackberry port sauce that came with my porkchop—the best I've ever had anywhere. When we mentioned we'd spent the day hiking in Sequoia, she came back with a list of her favorite hikes for the next time we're in town. It was the perfect cap to a day already filled with great experiences. I'd happily recommend Elderwood to anyone.
It's an old building from the 1930 ,that makes it interesting annex to the tulare county courthouse, down town visalia. The place is cozy quite. good for business meeting, friends and family gathering.
We went for a summer cocktail on the rooftop. The view is amazing! The cocktails were excellent. We had some bites and it was also great. This unique place deserves better service.

We had a party of ten for breakfast, including two birthday celebrations, and Steven took incredible care of us from start to finish. He was attentive without ever feeling intrusive, handled every request with professionalism, and kept everything running smoothly even with such a large group. Our food came out perfectly, drinks stayed full, and he made both birthday guests feel genuinely celebrated. Steven truly elevated our morning, excellent service all around!
We have eaten at the Elderwood in the past and found it overpriced and underwhelming. We hadn’t been back in a couple of years but heard that they had made some changes so we decided to try it again. Our most recent visit was a much better experience. The ambiance was nice as usual but the food was much better than it used to be. The menu had a broader selection than before and the quality and flavors were a welcomed improvement. The bar has great drinks and a great selection of zero proof cocktails if you are not a big alcohol drinker. The service was pleasant as usual and with the new menu the Elderwood is now one of our favorite restaurants in the area. If you haven’t been in a while I’d recommend giving them another try. I can easily see us becoming regulars here. Service was great, food was good, now really something to brag about, but still good. Outdoor sitting was nice. The wait time wasnt too bad, but I did make reservations.
We reserved a table for our anniversary, the wait to get seated took a minute. Although when we got to the patio the atmosphere was great! The staff were decent. The food was yummy, I would say a small menu but very good on the dishes they provide. We got the pork belly it was great! Overall, I would definitely recommend this place to a friend it’s the most fancy place in the county.
We tried a few dishes here, and overall had a nice experience! Heirloom Tomato Toast - The topping was a bit too sour for my taste. (6/10) Spicy Shrimp - Absolutely amazing! Packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. (10/10) Dinner Rolls with Honey Butter - Rolls were a little hard. If they had been warm and fresh, the butter would have melted inside and tasted even better. (7/10) Caesar Salad - Enjoyed it, though I feel some cheese instead of cauliflower would have made it perfect. (8/10) Shrimp Scampi - Taste was outstanding, rich buttery sauce, but portion size was smaller than expected. (10/10) Special mention to our waitress-she was super attentive and kept checking on us, which made the experience even better.
Great breakfast (yogurt + extra fruit) and happy hour (cocktails and ceviche). Staff were so friendly. Great bartender. Wifi was spotty and certain times the service was hit and miss for attentiveness, but a nice place.
First time there and the food was tasty but my dish was cold when I got it. The server was great about getting me a new dish right away. I will still go back. It was a good experience. Drinks were good. I recommend the Bees Knees!! Soooo good!
Elderwood is great. Perfect vibes for young professionals. I've always enjoyed the brunch more than dinner. I tried their min to get churro starter. It was fresh and delicious. Their chorizo bowl was top notch as well. Their pickled red onions were fresh, the tomatoes for the pico de gallo tasted like fresh heirlooms, and and my egg over medium was perfect. The cooking is precise and the ingredients are truly premium. You can tell that all the staff are trained to provide the highest level of service and professionalism. Service is always very patient and accommodating to us with our dietary restrictions.
I love the details as you walk in crown molding elevator felt like the great Gatsby there was no corner left boring. Outside seating was very spacious and beautiful but tables do need to be rearranged so one party is not left facing the sun the entire dinner. Other that that the food was really good portions were great. I do wish the desert menu had a wider variety or better options I picked the carrot cake and I loved that it was moist and you could see the nuts in it. I loved that. I highly recommend you try their 48hr soy sugar cured pork belly it was amazing the fat just melts in your mouth it tastes like a sweat savory butter and the slaw just brings it together never tried anything like it before 🥰. Alcohol drink taste were good for me but beware they do have a little kick 😅. I personally didn't mind. Great place to be at if you love watching the sunset🥰.
We dined out on the patio of the rooftop. It was a little chilly after the rain, so they had a fire pit going and heaters. For the apps, we had shrimp, burrata, and brussel sprouts. All of them were SO good. Their description of the Burrata doesn't seem super appealing, but try it, you'll be pleasantly surprised. For the entrées the chicken and Wellington were cooked well, just a bit dry and lacked flavor. The stars were the scallops, or the NY steak. Both tender with a lot of flavor.
When we arrived we asked for roof top siting. We were told we had to reserve that ahead of time. We asked how long the wait would be, if we chose to wait. Monique said they were completely booked for the night and there is no way we are getting it. As we are sitting 5 feet away from her at our inside table we hear her offer outside sitting for two to the next people who walked in 2 minutes later. They decline at first then decided to go outside. Another 3 minutes passes and another couple walked in and she offered them roof top sitting as well and they chose to eat inside. Within 5 minutes 2 other couples were offered outside seating. We hadn’t ordered yet and wanted to take the available table the second couple declined but Monique avoided our table and all eye contact as she walks by our table constantly and completely looking down and away or up and over us until another couple came in and went outside. We gave up and ate inside. Server Julia was very pleasant and the food was amazingly delicious. Manager gave us his card in case we decide to go back, he said email him first and let him know when we want to eat there again.

Very disappointing experience. All food overcooked; we had pork belly bites, New York steak, lobster, and potato fingers. For the price we paid you would hope for better. Additionally (I know this is outside of the restaurants control) there was a parade of low riders and modded cars blasting their music so loud that I could not hear my wife who was sitting across from me. I only saw the waitress to order and to deliver food. They left room temperature water in a jug on the table rather than refilling our waters with cold water. The rumor is that this place was losing its touch and I can’t help but agree. Still has the best views of the city though (which makes up for some of the experience). Also, there were some kids crawling under the tables and running around. Very distracting even as a parent of young kids myself. We will not be coming back anytime soon.
