My husband and I had a wonderful night out at Cafe India. Because of Covid, we ate outside. The servers were great and attentive. The food was delicious! I ordered Chicken Korma, and my husband ordered Shrimp Curry. The Naan and rice were fresh and delicious as well! We also tried the Mango Cart beer. If you like Indian food, try Cafe India!
We were glad it wasn’t crowded when we arrived. We sat in our favorite booth. Our dinner arrived very timely and was fabulous! I’m vegetarian and their options were lovely. I ordered Spicy Veggie Korma and it was indeed spicy!
We popped in for a quick drink before a concert. We seen the food which was obviously top notch. Had a couple very well made drinks and then paid a non expensive bill. Great find and we will be returning.
Food is absolutely amazing! Every entree is delicious. If you've never had Indian food, you can't go wrong with their chicken tikka masala (mild), rice pilau, & butter or garlic naan.
The food is delicious. Cafe India is a favorite of mine in Downtown Visalia. The garlic naan is great, the rice is so fluffy and the Chicken Tikka is so good. Our server was very attentive and provided great service. I have a shellfish allergy, our server alerted the kitchen and ensured that my order did not get cross-contamination.
Big portions of delicious food. I sat at the bar for lunch and received great service and help picking exactly what I wanted. The naan bread was a must with my dish. Also got to meet the restaurant social media consultant who was knowledgeable and fun to talk with even if they did not let her play Mario cart 🤣
Had dinner here after a long time not visiting. Was extremely good and the service and environment was very nice.
This place is our annual wedding anniversary dinner date destination. We’ve tried other Indian food places around town and it doesn’t compare. We tried to venture out and regretted it. A bonus is that it’s located on Main Street and so from there we can just walk down to get a sweet treat at a pastry shop!
This was a great experience for lunch and dinner. Very good food and decent price and atmosphere.
We are regulars at this place and I'm not even exaggerating when I say that this is some of the best, if not the best, Indian food place we've been to. The chicken Tikka masala is ridiculously good (tell them to add extra meat, trust me) and the Naan is always perfectly cooked. The chai latte is a must as well, especially iced on a hot day They're also fantastic with takeout - anything on the menu is modular, and can be customized to your liking. If I'm not mistaken, they give larger portions for takeout orders as well Another tip: get the spice on the side sp you can control how hot you want each plate to be
This place is so great the employees are always so nice and willing to help us with saying some of the names of the food. When you walk in the smell is amazing and the decor is nice inside. The food is always 100% amazing to all of you in that kitchen I thank you for your hard work and dedication to keeping every dish perfect with even high demand in busy times and to the owner I want to say keep up the amazing work.
Delicious food would definitely come again and perfect customer service!!!
This is really an amazing indian food experience. The owner/chef took time to come and help us order. Great place!
Though it's been sometime since I've enjoyed eating here at the buffet I always found it delicious and bountiful the naan was excellent
Amazing food, Friendly staff, great drinks, and if you sit at the bar you even play some Mario cart on the Nintendo Switch! I crave this food every week!
We had a fantastic dine-in experience at Cafe India! Located in the heart of downtown Visalia, this cozy spot offers a welcoming atmosphere and rich, authentic Indian flavors that really stood out. We ordered a variety of dishes, but the naan and chicken tikka masala were definite favorites—perfectly spiced, flavorful, and served hot and fresh. The naan was soft with just the right amount of char, and the chicken tikka masala was creamy, bold, and comforting. Every bite showed real care in preparation. The service was friendly and attentive, and the entire experience felt relaxed and enjoyable. Whether you're familiar with Indian cuisine or trying it for the first time, Cafe India is a great choice. We’ll definitely be back!
Amazing food and service, they were delightful and funny and had an amazing atmosphere
i came here with a group of coworkers for the first time and yummmm we all enjoyed it! the chef was seating, cooking, taking orders, making drinks so there was a wait, however, we did not mind at all. if anything, we wanted to clock in and help lol! everything was so flavorful and delicious. i’m going to be thinking about the bullet naan forever, will definitely be back.
If your looking for Indian food in visalia california, Cafe India is the best place to visit. Delicious food and awesome service. If your looking for atmosphere , they have a restaurant side for a romantic evening and second side with a bar and 5 big screens where me and my friends can watch sports and unwind. We are all going to get together there and have a super bowl party!
This was my third visit. The first two were for the lunch buffet. I have eaten Indian food at only five different restaurants in the USA and two others outside the USA. My impression of this establishment is that they are constantly improving their food quality and service. This evening's visit with my woman was an opportunity for her to buy me a favorite supper meal as part of my birthday present so, it was important to her that everything go well. It did. Or table location was perfect. Our wait staff were courteous, professional, patient and quite personable. Norma was an expert at translating the menu item names into English. She was well informed about flavors, recipes, portion sizes, etc. Superb lady. The accommodations were comfortable, well lit, the seasonal music was tasteful and non-intrusive. The food presentation, temperature, flavor and portions were spot-on. When the bill came, we found it to be quite reasonable. The chai tea was exceptional. Great Job!
The food here was surprisingly comforting. The bold spices and herbs actually cleared my clogged throat. Everything was full of strong flavor. The crème brûlée was a great dessert choice. The menu had a lot of interesting options and I really enjoyed the whole experience.
First time trying this place. We had the chicken curry, chicken tikka masala, shrimp curry, garlic naan, basmati rice, and the creame brûlée cheesecake along with a few other dishes. We were able to pick how spicy we wanted each dish to be. My son got the ghost pepper hotness and boy was it hot! Off the charts lol he enjoyed it. Everything was delicious and served hot. We were a large group taking up the bar area and some tables and the service was still excellent and consistent. There was video games, and board games and we were accommodating for being a large group. Food Prices were great and alcoholic drinks were made well. We have tried a few local indian restaurants and We will definitely be going back to this one. This is a good place for lunch and/or dinner. 5 stars all around. Kudos to the chef.
i absolutely love this place. the indian food is amazing, they have great customer service & the atmosphere is to DIE for. i love watching sports and movies while enjoying a good meal. 😇😇 my favorite dish is their chicken tiki masala & basmati rice & garlic naan!!😋
This was my first time trying Indian food and it wasn't bad in fact it was very enjoyable the drink I got is the Mango Lassi personally it just tasted like what a diet milkshake would probably be. The red thing was the chicken vindaloo I haven't taken anything like that in my life and it was an experience. Being Hispanic I enjoy my rice how a Hispanic person will make it otherwise I very much dislike the taste of conventional rice and this rice is rather poor to my personal preference in fact I couldn't eat the rest of it cuz it just tasted like conventional rice. The taco that looks like it has a severe case of leprosy is actually called a Papadam and let me tell you they are only for the strongest beings and if you are of the weakest I recommend not getting this it was so overly seasoned I made a visible reaction when chewing on it however i like my food over seasoned so this wasn't a problem I very much enjoyed this establishment and will be coming back
One of the best indian food I had. I was returning from Sequoia and ordered food from this place. We ordered okra, paneer masala, biryani, garlic and bullet naan. I tell you taste is amazing. I suggest you try their bullet naan, worth it. They serve delicious, good quality and quantity food. Must visit. Really satisfied.
I must have passed by this place a number of times and just never got the chance to try it, but there was always a lot of people so, I decided to try it. Since this place has two openings, closing briefly mid-day, I would aim at coming before the dinner rush around 4:30 when they open the second time. The food here is fantastic and the servers are very friendly and knowledgeable breaking down each dish, what is in it and the menu itself shows lots of vegan options. Unfortunately, their black lentil and chickpea dish was not available which bummed me out, but I still got plenty of tasty things such as garlic naan (not vegan, but whatever it was delicious), vegetable samosas, vegetable briyani and a vegan stew with brown curry and cauliflower (forget the name). I also got a ginger iced tea that was super potent, but great for digestion. Filling, healthy and full of more flavor than a majority of ethnic restaurants I have ever been to and the valley is seriously lacking this type of cuisine. I will be back soon!
I'm telling you, if you want QUALITY indian food, you NEED to come and try this place. I've never tasted anything so savory, rich, and flavorful such as the chicken Tikka masala and the veggie korma. And the basmati rice is to DIE for!! So good! The fact that it wasn't busy on a Sunday afternoon is CRAZY to me. You need to try this place! And they make FRESH naan bread! Please, Visalia, you need to try it! 🙏🏻 Danae is a wonderful server and has such a great energy and personality! Highly recommend! And the chef did a PHENOMENAL job with the rice!!

Very delicious food. I love the curry and the naan that they have on the menu! Very delicious and great that they let you pick your own spice level instead of just serving it how they want. Very relaxing environment.
I love eating here and taking it home as well! I’m glad to have Indian food close by. The samosa’s and paneer korma and so delicious!
Cafe India is a place that I have gone to for every special occasion. Graduation? Check Please! Anniversary? Check Please! A moment to celebrate? CHECK PLEASE! The food always taste delicious and the drinks are quite affordable. The owners are super nice and even chit chat to keep up to date with us. It’s a great place to dine and you get really good rewards here. Highly recommend!

This place is so good I go crazy for the lamb. I just wish they would prioritize in-house orders over the take-out orders because I had to wait an hour for an appetizer and there wasnt even many people inside the restaurant. I would've ordered a lot more if the appetizer came sooner...
Food was really good here. We ordered samosas, matar Paneer, daal makhni, bullet naan and garlic naan and tea & coke. Service was quick, food was good.
The Samosas were great with their sauces. The Goat Curry and Chicken Titka Marsala flavors were also good but both goat and chicken meat were a bit tough to chew and could have been tenderized. The meats and sauces went well with the Basmati Rice. Enjoyed the side of Peppers and Onions. The Garlic Naan was also good with dipping in the sauces. Enjoyed the cold Taj Mahal beer. They are building a bar so there is construction going on. The service was excellent. Overall, it was a good experience.
Not bad. Ample portions and earthy spice profile made the food enjoyable. The wait and cost were a bit much, standard beverages (soda/tea) were quite large (as was the naan).

I always order to go and food is typically consistent. Chicken tikka masala and chicken makhani are always flavorful and good. Curry chicken spicy always hits the spot. Chicken biryani portion is huge and I always enjoy the vegetables included in it. One of the better places I have tried and I always resort back to this restaurant for consistent Indian food.
They definitely need more staff to run the restaurant, one girl on there doing the hosting, waiting, bussing, serving, and billing. Overall made for slow service at no fault of the girl's. Food was OK, nothing special. And rice and Naan cost extra money. Overall a nice restaurant, but can be improved.
Service was bad. I don’t blame the waiter for service as she was the only one. The food was a bad too, we ordered Veg Vindaloo, Chicken Jalfrezi, Veg Biryani and Lamb Biryani. We felt the used same base and flavors for all the items we ordered and it wasn’t good either. Wouldn’t go back again.
I had ordered tandoori chicken to-go and I surprised when I saw it. chicken was dumped into gravy. I never know tandoori chicken will come as gravy item. please stop whatever you prepared as Indian cuisine. Every item has different method of preparation and taste. I really disappointed with the taste of tandoori chicken and I'm okay with samosa.
Order for pick up. Place is in downtown and appears nice and clean and the spice aroma was inviting however the food was such a disappointment. I don’t wanna be rude but I am well versed with Indian food. Unfortunately, it did not taste authentic. The spice balance was off and they forgot to add my naan in the order.

Honestly, I don’t know why anyone would eat here. Tandoori chicken had zero tandoori flavor. Garlic naan had no garlic flavor. None of the dishes had any cumin or true Indian spice. I do hope Visalia has other options for Indian food. I have made a few trips to India, besides living in a part of Malaysia that was predominantly Indian, so I’m quite familiar with the taste and this was not that.
Overall, I wouldn't recommend this place. We tried 5 different curries but none of them matched our expectations. The naan was cold and chewy. The chai was cold and watery. One of the waiters dropped food on my friend's foot. The waiters did apologise for it and didn't charge for the chai. The staff was friendly and charismatic.
TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE!!! I've travelled across west and central US and my choice was always been biriyani in Indian restaurant and it was our mistake we got carried away with reviews and pictures posted here, I wonder if those reviews were legitimate and not paid or some sort of bot. We ordered lamb biriyani, chicken biryani, SORRY, SORRY I must say chat/khichdi masala biriyani, all they did was added powder to water and eventually mixed it water. Here are the pics of the Biriyani, and on top they don't serve raita on side for the biriyani, I had pay extra 2.50$ to get small pack, if you claim to be authentic Indian restaurant, try to live up to the expectation how it's served back in India. Above all WORST and HORRIBLE was the mango lassi, it was bitter and had strong pungent smell, probably it was refrigerated for long. Since we got the food for our dinner we ended up eating half of what we ordered and had to throw the food (I don't like wasting food, but at the same time I can't risk upsetting my stomach), sad part our two and half year old son refused to eat and ended giving him cupcakes. I wish their restaurant is regularly inspected for the quality of food and how it's prepared. If you would like to know how Indian food really tastes, please stay away from this restaurant.
All I want to say is waste of money. The taste is not worth of what we spent . The Naan’s we ordered were dry.All the curries tasted same. Don’t even want to give 1 star.
