We did brunch here as a group of about 8 and had a lovely time! At the time that we went, they had tea on the menu with CBD for that calming effect or just normal tea. They had a few really interesting cocktails as well and the high tea pastry assortment was excellent. On our absolutely worth the price and we had a really good time.
Went to this place for brunch & we had a great time! There was a live musician and that made the experience even better. We sat inside but the patio was super cute and spacious. The dining room was nice too! The drinks, food and service were really good! 😊
Conveniently located near our hotel, Art & Soul was a pleasant surprise. We walked in with no expectations—just hungry and hoping for a good meal. From the moment we stepped inside, the hospitality stood out. We were seated immediately and offered water, which was especially thoughtful given the heat outside. There was a brief wait for appetizers, but lunch followed soon after. The food met our expectations—we didn’t order any of the signature dishes or local seafood specialties, but everything we had was satisfying. The quiet atmosphere made it easy to carry on a conversation, which we appreciated. We liked this restaurant enough to return a second time, though we unfortunately missed breakfast service. Still, we highly recommend Art & Soul and would definitely return the next time we’re in the D.C. area.
Literally stumbled on this gem lookig for a quick dinner and it didn't disappoint. Food was really flavorful and delicious. Service was also good. Good Happy Hour options as well, e.g., the crab dip is amazing (we forgot to get a pic before finishing it). Recommend highly because of tasty and diverse menu options and price point. Will be going back to try other things.
Great place for an outdoor meal with our pet. Large pet friendly dining area out front. The crew was so kind and catered to our Aussie Shepherd. They even have a Pup menu ! Fritz loved the 6oz sirloin. This was cooked to perfection as was the rest of our dinner. The Angus burger with cheddar and carmelized onions was deliciously prepared. An excellent lite choice on a steamy day. Our server Angel was fantastic as were the rest of the crew taking care of us and our pup. Hope to be back while in town.
My daughter and I had a wonderful Valentine’s Day dinner at Art and Soul! We didn't do the special Valentines menu, but chose to order off their regular menu instead. Great atmosphere with a nice vibe. Whether it was her steak frites or my fried chicken, everything was cooked perfectly. And don’t even get me started on the dessert—the brownie and banana pudding were incredible! If you’re looking for an intimate yet lively spot for a special occasion in DC, Art and Soul is a must-visit. We’ll definitely be back!
Everyone in DC knows that brunch is a big deal and we take our brunch places seriously. Well, I've been eating at various brunch places around the city for 13 years and I honestly have not been blown away like this in a very long time. For me, Art and Soul has become one of the top 10 brunch places in this town. You absolutely need to check it out yourself to understand what I'm talking about. The food and the drinks were outstanding. It is amazing that is incredible food destination is inside a hotel located on a very quiet part of DC close to Union Station. We stopped by before checking out the Building Museum so it's an easy walk from multiple metro stations. So please go check it out. Take lots of friends because they need to experience this as well.
Wonderful Sunday brunch experience. We were seated almost immediately. Right away you notice the patio area, welcoming ambiance, great lightning, and a beautiful decor. Our server, Victor, was amazing and spot-on with his recommendations. We decided to go with the Chef 3 Course Brunch meal, generous amount of food for the price. I wanted to highlight the Chicken and Waffles, great balance between sweet and spicy. The Strawberry Cinnamon Roll was delicious, not too overwhelming. Our meal also included the Steak and Egg entire, can't go wrong and everything was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Definitely a great place for brunch, good food, great service, and a laid back atmosphere.
I had an excellent experience with this restaurant! The service was incredibly fast, and the staff was friendly and efficient. The steak was cooked to perfection – tender, juicy, and full of flavor. I really appreciated how quickly the meal was brought to the table, and everything was just as I’d hoped. Highly recommend for anyone looking for great food and speedy service!
I was walking around DC and I looked up Black Owned Restaurants and this one came up. Not sure if it’s actually black owned but that’s okay cuz the food and service was good. I didn’t realize it was apart of the hotel. Really nice aesthetic on the inside. Very warm and inviting as I was greeted by the hostess. I sat by the bar and the bartender gave me the menu and made suggestions of what I should get. I trusted his judgment and got the Chefs Special which was roughly $42. I got the mimosa, which was not bottomless, got the Buttermilk Chicken and Waffles plus the house made blueberry bread. Everything tasted amazing. The mimosas was a really tall glass so I definitely felt he buzz, bartender out a splash of OJ in it so that was appreciated. Chicken and waffles were seasoned through and through while the waffle was soft and fluffy on the inside with a nice crisp. And the blueberry bread was simply amazing. I strongly recommend the blueberry bread. Definitely a spot to check out in DC.
Very nice restaurant attached to Yotel, we went looking for chicken and waffles and were very happy with our meal. The chicken was very tender, waffle was very flavorful, waitress suggested the spicy maple syrup that was very good. Overall an amazing dining experience. They also had live music that was a very nice touch.
My husband and I stayed in the Yotel and decided to eat here for lunch. My husband had visited years before and said the food was amazing and he was not wrong. I just has a burger and fries and it was so good. This was one of the best burgers I’ve bit into this year, it was good! I had a medium rare bacon cheeseburger with fried egg, onion rings and barbecue sauce. Heaven! My husband also enjoyed his salad. The entire dining experience was great. Our waiter was attentive and the staff were all very friendly. I am looking forward to returning for brunch or dinner soon! This place was nice!
This was such a savvy and cozy spot! We were a few minutes short of arriving for breakfast, but the lunch menu did not disappoint. Our server was friendly and quite helpful in assisting with our food selections. The Maryland Crab Deviled Eggs, Smoked Chicken Salad with Chipotle Vinaigrette, and the 8 oz. Sirloin Steak were all beautifully plated and even better tasting! If we could’ve sampled the entire menu, we would’ve; but, we’ll be back for more!
If you like yotel hotels and ikea style ambiance, this is for you. The service was friendly and checked on us regularly. The crab deviled eggs were bad. Do not order them. No crab and they lack flavor. The short rib has was fantastic. Exactly as expected and very rich. The bacon isn’t too greasy and cooked perfectly. Overall it’s a good brunch if you’re at the hotel or nearby.
Was a guest here for July 4th weekend and this brunch was great. If you want a calmer brunch experience with excellent service - come here. The chicken (Chicken and waffles) was cooked perfectly and the eggs/grits had unique flavors with each spoonful. I do recommend before hitting up a local museum. Will go back! 👏🏽
The food here is amazing. Service was 10/10. From the moment we arrived we were treated like VIP. KC was our server, he was the absolute best! The restaurant is attached to a hotel. We were blown away by the ambience. Each sub-room had its own little vibe. I had the short rib which was slightly salty but tasty flavorful and fresh nevertheless. We would definitely return to try their dinner. Photos: Farmers Basket on the left, short rib hash
I took my husband here for a birthday brunch and our waiter Victor impressed us both. He made great recommendations in addition to excellent service. The food was absolutely phenomenal and the cinnamon roll was delightful. They even brought my husband out a nice candle and a dessert! We will definitely be going back here. Excellent food, excellent service, and cool atmosphere.
Chef Joseph was was super kind leaving the back to explain all the dishes to us in detail. Bartenders were also amazing James and Karie-ann, such a great atmosphere so welcoming it felt like home.
The food here is so amazing. Pricing was reasonable. Portion sizes are nice and filling. I am a vegetarian and there were options for me. I got the homemade Mushroom Tangliatelle and a side of homemade rolls with honey butter that were amazing. Service was great, "KC" was my server and he was a delight. You can tell the servers like their jobs. I highly recommend this restaurant whether staying at The Yotel or not. It is worth the dining experience. No question about it, JUST GO. For dessert I had the best blackberry sorbet ever.
Dog menu available! The portions are a little small for $8 but hey it’s a cool concept/idea to include them! The rest of the food was on par. Brussels sprouts and salmon cooked to perfection. We all just had a really good lunch. They don’t do breakfast or brunch on the weekends it’s straight to the lunch menu when they open at 1130. Nice outdoor seating and propane if it’s cold. Next time we will have to check out the inside of this restaurant!
Great place! We sat outside and the view of the capitol was nice, lots of shade and pleasant views. The cornbread appetizer was super yummy - big portion and LOVED the pepper jelly that it was served with. Was super unique and tasty. The chicken sandwich was also great, very juicy and the aoili+guacamole was good. The side salad with the sandwich was meh and didn’t have dressing. Nice place and they filled our waters up quickly, another pro!
Wow. What a polar opposite existence from the corner bakery cafe. We got seated immediately, the waitress was super polite and asked us how our day was (her name is Evelyn, she was amazing). We expressed our displeasure with the corner and she actually apologized on their behalf. We placed our order (a big one too, pancakes, chicken sandwich, a burger, mac and cheese, the works!) and it was out within ten minutes. I couldn’t take a photo because it was all gone so quickly. Absolutely delicious. The waitress said she told the cook what happened to us at the last spot and he jumped on the line and made our meal personally. This was such a great experience. I wish I could give it a higher review. Get the lemon blueberry pancakes, side of maple sausage. It’ll knock you out.
Easily one of my favorite places. Took my dog to the patio, and had amazing food, great service, and good vibes. Loved it so much went 2 nights in a row. It’s a must try spot! Angel took care of us and he is the best service staff ever. My dog loved the hungry dog steak dish best. And all the human food is chefs kiss. <3
I had an exceptional breakfast here, prepared exactly to my liking. What truly stood out, however, was the genuine warmth of the staff. It is rare to find a place in the city with a friendly staff like that. Their hospitality made me feel truly valued as a customer. This was my first visit, and I am already looking forward to returning soon.
Nice ambiance for a hotel bar, very convenient location. The fried chicken entree was $27 which is on the pricey side for two chicken thighs but it was very good. Deviled eggs ($12) were delicious. My dining partner doesn't like crab so the server offered to sub out the crab on the eggs for bacon. The server, Vernon, was also running double duty as the bartender and was very kind, upbeat and helpful. Great experience overall.
The high tea was perfect and would recommend anytime you want the experience. Lots of people there celebrating birthdays or other momentous occasions. Nice offering of teas. Everyone gets their own teapot and pastries that include sweet and savory. A violinist was present and made his rounds throughout the room. Note high tea is separated from the rest of the restaurant. Later I came back to meet a friend for drinks. We essentially had a bottle of wine, delicious brussel sprouts, the rolls (carb overload) and a cheese plate. When the pita chips ran out for the cheese I was disappointed by the replacement. Otherwise solid restaurant and service.
Wanted to grab brunch somewhere dog friendly while passing through and so glad we found this place! Service was very friendly and they're so welcoming of dogs, they even have their own menu! Food was all excellent and we would definitely return. Nice shaded patio with views of the Capitol.
I visited Art & Soul during DC Resturant Week and was really impressed with the selection offered on the menu, freshness of the ingredients and tasty food! I recommend: * the Heirloom Tomato & Watermelon Salad and * the Shrimp & Geechie Boy Grits, which was so creamy and pair really well with the chorizo and lobster sauce!! With the wide ranging menu during resturant week, I know I would not be disappointed with the regular menu! Looking forward to trying
Was in DC for some museum visits and decided to hit Art and Soul up for an early Brunch. It was definitely a good look on my part. The space is very bright and open. You have the options of sitting at the bar and catching Sunday sports, or at one of the high top tables or at the other various tables on the dining floor. The brunch options are various and they have little something for everyone whether or not you're vegan non meat eating or have dairy allergens. I opted for the buttermilk fried chicken with avocado and a side salad and was very much pleased with my choice. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area or want to get away from the crowded Dupont circle or downtown DC area.
The best hotel restaurant ever! The chef is amazing. I had the best duck in my life. It was super soft and delicious. Jane was our waitress and she was gorgeous. She told us about food and recommended the best menu positions. I don't understand why people leave bad reviews.
I was in Washington, D.C. for the COE Leadership Summit, Policy Conference, and Talk on the Hill events. I stopped in and wanted your famous chicken and waffles but was told that it is only served on weekends. I ordered your Fried chicken thighs with mash potatoes & spinach. It was melt in your mouth delicious. The chicken was cooked to perfection. The spinach was delicious. I ordered the Strawberry Bread Pudding for desert. Thank you for your friendly service and clean environment.
A creative presentation with a flavors that will drive you wild. Really enjoyed this meal. My girlfriend has been wanting to go here for four years and tonight we enjoyed 7 different dishes. All were unique. All were flavorful. The short rib with the pumpkin mole was a really great autumn meal. If you like sashimi, get the hamachi crudo. Our waiter was Casey. Thank you for your outstanding service and attentiveness this evening. Food came out quickly and we were check on regularly. Check this place out for a great date night!
Nice restaurant in the Yotel Hotel. Amble seating with a nice aesthetic, attentive staff and a decent menu with some tasty options.
Stopped and had brunch here. The restaurant was big and fancy clean looking on the inside…but they have a big outside area that we had our eyes on. Food was great! We sampled a number of their brunch options that were all great…with us loving the biscuits and gravy the best! Their chocolate raspberry tart was pretty darn good too! I would order it again. The only thing that sucked was the staff, managers and a table of 15 were all fighting over how many tables they could occupy. At first it was… a bit … entertaining… but it kept dragging on and it was clear the situation was bumming everyone out… so we just left. Would recommend! Would try the place again :)
Had a delicious brunch here..had to make reservations on resy and it was relatively busy. Outside seating is nice on a summer day. our waiter was great at recommending the top brunch meals. I enjoyed the steak and eggs which came with potatoes..my friend thought the short rib was okay but could have used a bit more seasoning. We also go a bottle of mimosa and a Caesar salad for starters. In all, worth the visit!
The food here was incredible and I highly recommend the crab deviled eggs along with the short rib hash. They have a variety of options for those that are vegetarian and vegan as well. I listed my review with 4/5 stars because the customer service from the host stand and the lack of communication from them as well left our wonderful server in a bit of hurry towards the end of our meal. I'm not sure if the hosts were new or just didn't care but it definitely showed. Overall the food reviews are what brought me to this location and we will absolutely be back for another round. Make sure to get a seat on the patio!
The food here was extremely good, I had pancakes and I very much enjoyed them! My only issue was that we ordered coffee, only to be told that the coffee machine wasn’t actually working. Overall this place is nice.
After a evening out, we stopped for some decaf and dessert. The desserts.. my oh my.. yummy! I liked how there was a variety of options you don't typically see. The strawberry bread pudding and the donut and ice-cream were worth it!! Given the time of evening, the warm decaf was still good. The bartender that served us was friendly and tentative.
Good food with very artsy interiors. Outdoor seating is nice. Service is very slow. Our food came almost 30 minutes after we ordered. Not many vegetarian lunch options, but they do have few brunch type entrees. Located very close to attractions.
Beautiful location with capitol views! The outdoor seating area is cute. Certain dishes were incredible. The service was even better. Casey our server was fun and helpful, taking pictures for us, and most importantly popping and pouring our champagne brunch. The chicken and waffles was superb. The BLT Benedict was very savory, the tomato jam made it. Visit this spot. My brunch bowl was meh the pickled red onions were the most flavorful item on the plate, it was a healthy choice just not very flavorful. The avocado toast was basically guac on toast. Next time I’m trying the lemon pancakes instead.
The attached restaurant, bar and food are very good. Unfortunately there is no breakfast on Saturday and Sunday. 😑
Very expensive. Dining area not open for dinner so has to join others on longer tables. Photos below of our order, which ended up costing approximately $300 Australian dollars. Definitely not worth that amount!! 2 share platters 2 meals and a medium priced wine!!
My waffle was burnt. There was live music, front desk staff at the restaurant were very nice and friendly. They greeted us like they knew us! We came here for my husbands birthday brunch and the musician came to the table and played happy birthday for him! They also gave him a small dessert too celebrate that we shared. It was nice. He ordered a short rib dish that tasted like flap meat. The chicken and waffle dish was disappointing. Service wasn't bad. Kinda chilly but it was nice, I don't think we'll come back though.
Only came by to this place for breakfast because it was conveniently located between the National Mall and Union Station. We had utilized the luggage storage in the parent hotel building. Service could be quicker as the place was mostly empty when we arrived yet took about 25 minutes for the food to arrive. Prices are overpriced, $20 for a burger and $20 for French toast? We also picked the relatively cheap items, some items on this menu were approaching $40. The French toast was decent but the burger was quite flavorless. The fries that came with the burger were good though.
We sat outside as it was a beautiful day. I had the shrimp and grits. It was average. The staff were friendly enough but there were long waits between communications.
The drinks were good and the food was decent. The staff were a little confusing because I wasn’t sure who our actual server was. Different people came by to check on us and even two different people brought the check, which made tipping feel a little awkward. Our server also took our order and then came back again to retake it, which felt disorganized. On the positive side, I liked that coffee cups were already set on the table when we arrived. My dish had eggs with cheese on top but the cheese wasn’t melted, so it took away from the flavor. Overall it was an okay experience but there’s room to improve.
Review specifically for the high tea experience. The only part I thought was really delicious was the tea. I got Bliss which was a CBD infused white tea. The bread on the sandwiches were rather dry or didn’t have much filling. The scones didn’t taste particularly fresh and tasted like something you could find in the grocery store. The desserts were good but not memorable to me. For $65/person the food did not seem worth it. I really loved the beautiful presentation of the tea and food and they also had a violinist playing music when we were there on a Sunday afternoon. However, we had to wait quite a while to be seated and to receive the check when we were done even though we had a reservation.
I walked accross the street from my own hotel for some quiet time away from the group I was with. First impression was that this place was great! I didn't see a whole lot of patrons, quite music playing, empty seats in the bar. My friend met me at the bar and we both ordered an angus burger. It sounded perfect. I guess neither of us paid close enough attention to the menu when ordering. The meals came out fairly quickly and I finished about half of it. It was so filling. It came with fries that were amazingly delicious. My friend just picked at her burger. I asked her is she wanted to take it back to the hotel and she said that she didn't like it. Both my burger and hers had a BBQ sauce on it that she didn't care for. I didn't like it much myself but still finished about half of it. Malik, our waiter, was busy as he was the only person working the bar that afternoon. While we didn't need anything aside from refills on our drinks, it was still unusual to not be asked more than once if we needed anything while in the restaurant for several hours. The environment was very relaxing and we were able to talk amongst ourselves until a couple came in and sat down next to us. They were there to party so we quickly finished up, paid the bill, and went on about our day.
They should be ashamed of themselves. I ordered the fried chicken meal with collard greens and mashed potatoes. This "soul food" resturant served me BONELESS THIGHS as their famous fried chicken and didn't have a speck black pepper on it. The collard greens were sweet and turned my stomach. The mashed potatoes were flavorless, but made the chicken edible. I ordered mac&cheese with a $12 price tag. It was like eating mac&cheese soup if broth were cheese sauce with loose elbow pasta throughout the bowl. I couldn't finish the mac&cheese or the collard greens. The service was minimal and off putting. I felt like I was in their way by just being a customer. Overall, I will never return or suggest this place to anyone.
Food=😖👎 but To be fair, we are only rating the bar bites during happy hour because that is all that we tried. Their wings were really really bad; rubber chicken. Tasted like they had been reheated many times then doused with bbq when ordered. Their Brussels sprouts come with bacon and cranberries but tasted awful. Even their truffle fries were hard and tasted old. Service was good- We sat at bar - but never returning- sorry- you guys were nice but the food wasn't!
