FireFly continues to prove why it’s one of my favorite dining experiences. From the moment you walk through the door, the staff sets the tone with warm, personalized service. The greeting is genuine, attentive, and immediate and that same level of care carries throughout the entire visit. Customer service is truly exceptional here. Servers check in at all the right times, ensure everything is to your liking, and make you feel valued as a guest without being intrusive. It’s rare to find hospitality executed this consistently. The food remains outstanding flavorful, well-prepared, and reliable. FireFly is, without exaggeration, a 20 out of 10. It never misses. Yesterday’s experience was no different: amazing from start to finish. This is a restaurant that understands service, quality, and consistency. Highly recommend.

We ate for dinner on Christmas and was so grateful for MJ and his colleagues. MJ brought amazing energy and his team were all so nice. Food was very good and the Christmas vibes were perfect.

My wife and I just stayed at the hotel for the second time, and once again Firefly was a highlight of the trip. It’s super convenient since it’s right in the hotel, but more importantly, the food and service were excellent. MJ was awesome- really friendly, attentive, and always checking in to make sure we were comfortable and taken care of. You can tell he genuinely cares about the guests. Big shoutout to Andy as well — also very friendly, and thanks to him we tried a couple of cocktails that were incredible. Overall, great vibe, great people, and great food. We’ll definitely be back the next time we’re in DC.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant, and I can't say enough about how fantastic Chef Red is! From the start, he was genuinely engaging and offered great suggestions from his new dinner menu. Every dish was a 10/10! The shrimp appetizer, which I usually wouldn't go for, had the perfect crunch with a sweet-savory glaze—I’d buy the sauce on its own if I could. The lamb chops were hands down the best I've ever had—tender, flavorful, and simply incredible. Andy, our server, was an absolute sweetheart. His attentiveness added a personal touch, and the cozy, Christmas-decorated atmosphere made the place feel like home. The food, the service, and the ambiance were all top-notch, making for an unforgettable experience. The only slight critique I have is the drink menu. I prefer sweeter drinks, and none of the options quite fit that preference—they leaned more toward the drier side. A few sweeter cocktails and mocktails would make this place perfect. Still, I’m surprised it’s not packed every day—this place is truly a hidden gem!

This place made our short trip to DC amazing!! The service was absolutely outstanding, thanks Andy!!! Every drink we tried was excellent and always had something fun like smoke bubbles or edible butterflies. The ribs were cooked perfectly, juicy and fell right off the bone, definitely try the mambo sauce! And the fries were the best we ever had! Definitely will be back next time we’re in DC!

Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes to all of it 7 days a week. Staff is lovely and diverse. Very attentive. And service was fast. They e en thought of adding an Easter bunny for Easter. Very nice. Quaint. Not assuming. Not too sterile. It was just right. Had the biscuit benedict. Poached eggs could have been cooked a lot less, but maybe bird flu is a factor. Lovely potatoes I did not expect.

Well hello DC. I stopped by Firefly while passing through. It was an early Saturday morning but the staff made it feel like afternoon. The wait staff is welcoming and charismatic. Offered information on some quick sightseeing. Then the drinks and food came. I was not disappointed. I love corned beef hash and eggs for a Saturday lunch. This is not your diner variety though. This was gentrified to match the restaurant and neighborhood. Home made and fresh. No greasiness to it at all. My husband had the shrimp and grits. This is his favorite weeknd breakfast. He was also very pleasantly surprise with this upscale take a classic comfort food. Cocktails were pleasing to the eye and taste buds. Everything was seasoned just right. Will visit again when visiting DC.

Had an amazing time at this restaurant. My waiter had great energy and made fantastic recommendations for the food and drinks. They have an option where you pick your spirit and the mixologist does their magic. The food was remarkable. Definitely going back.

Had an absolute blast last night. Food, drinks, atmosphere and service are fantastic here. They even had a wedding party there and never once dropped the ball. Unfortunately forgot to take pictures of the duck tacos and hummus but they were superb. You can't go wrong with whatever you order, whether food or drinks the flavor is on point. Highly recommend checking them them out. They have outdoor seating, indoor dining tables, couches with coffee tables and of course seating at the bar. Will be back soon to check out the brunch menu. 06/24/2021 update - Went back for Father's day brunch and everything was amazing again. We shard French toast, Chicken and Waffles, and kimchi pork hash. I don't know which was my favorite. Staff was just as amazing! Thank you for the great experience.

Really awesome brunch place. We had the avocado toast and a fruit bowl. They just make everything so delicious adding some additional ingredients here and there. The fruit bowl had honey toasted coconut - the avocado toast also had some unusual stuff in there and tasted incredible. Highly recommend for breakfast/brunch

J

I ordered the spirit hunter, sweat chili jumbo shrimp and mambo fried wings

This restaurant is attached to the Madera hotel. They actually make a very good espresso here. It was quite impressive for not being a coffee shop. I purchased an egg white veggie omelette. I am allergic to the rice unfortunately so instead of giving me toast, they gave me a little salad without me even asking. That was super amazing and made my whole day. It was delicious. The other people in my party, purchased berry, waffles, and breakfast sandwiches. They all enjoyed it. If you're in a hurry, this probably isn't the best place to go. This is a basic restaurant with something for everyone. One last thing this place has the most beautiful bathroom I think I’ve ever seen. So really great artwork in there. Nice and clean too.

Great food, tasty mimosas, and great service! MJ was superrrr nice and welcoming ! Definitely recommend this place!

The restaurant has changed a lot since the last time I was here! Really friendly staff and nice ambiance! My favorite was the peanut butter and jelly French toast with the jalapeño honey! It’s an Interesting combo but I really liked it. Our server recommended a really yummy mocktail! The food was a little pricey so I’m not sure if I’ll be visiting again any time soon, but the dishes were innovative and delicious.

We stopped in for a quick brunch on our way to the airport. The food was amazing and the waiter did a fantastic job of hyping up our choices. We even got to speak with the chef who was incredibly friendly and clearly took pride in his work.

I cannot say enough positive things about Firefly! Lois was fantastic from the first time I reached out to plan our intimate family wedding and demonstrated excellence, friendliness, and care through our tour and final stages of planning. Omar and the whole team were also fabulous during the tour and then on the day of our event. Thank you, thank you, thank you for being such a wonderful part of our big day!

Excellent breakfast spot. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Parking is pretty scarce around the area. Staff is excellent. Good is delicious. Music is diverse. Location is convenient. This is going to be one of my new favorite breakfast spots.

Wonderful food, amazing service, beautiful interior, pleasant vibe. A bit pricey for brunch but worth it. I wish more tables outside had umbrellas for shades but even then the experience was memorable.

A small and interestingly-decorated concept restaurant attached to a boutique hotel within convenient walking distance from the DuPont Circle Metro stop. The food is slightly on the pricier side, but absolutely delicious and the service was very friendly. The menu is comprised of inventive and seasonal dishes - definitely try the pumpkin cheesecake french toast! There's a taste for every palate and the atmosphere of the restaurant is fun and unique. Definitely would recommend!

Great food, great service! The taste was refined and yet simple; the wings had a kick and the shells and cheese --oh! The shells and cheese were fantastic! Great place for casual dining and comfort food on a rainy Thursday night!

Phenomenal food and vibe, I absolutely adored the host and our server. I had the chance to celebrate an intimate birthday here and they didn’t make it anything short of special. The staff is attentive and everyone is so nice. I left overjoyed and full from the delicious food. A true gem I will be returning to

The manager and/or server wearing all red (shoes included) was a highlight of our night. Amazing service, the lava cake came out uncooked, but when we alerted the server it was fixed within minutes.

J

Everything about our brunch was fantastic. Tina did a wonderful job taking care of us, and the food and drinks were excellent. Highly recommend Firefly, be sure to get in there when you're near DuPont Circle.

C
Candice Matson

All of the staff were super friendly. We definitely felt under dressed. I got the eggs Benedict with Smoked Salmon. There wasn't much hollandaise sauce, so it was a bit dry and the Smoked Salmon was strong. Their potatoes and veggies needed seasoning. My daughter enjoyed her french toast. For basic Brunch, it was pricey. Not everything they offer is on the menu, we had to ask about juice and coffee.

T
Tina Colon

This was a good brunch spot. The food was wonderfully made. Their club sandwich was the best. The French toast was my favorite. The Mimosa was the finishing touch for my breakfast. The waitress was friendly and attentive.

Firefly is a cozy little spot that I found on Google and decided to try because it was close to another spot that we were planning on visiting. Firefly is situated in the beautiful neighborhood of DuPont circle ( I think 👀). It's small but inviting. The customer service is great. The food is decent. We visited on a Sunday and I thought that we would have full range to the breakfast and brunch menu but that wasn't the case. However they allowed me to order that American style breakfast which is not normally offered on the weekend. So customer service is 5/5. I gave the food a 4/5 only because nothing was seasoned. However it was served hot and fast. The portion size is decent. But if you like the feeling of being FULL you might wanna go somewhere else. I hope this is helpful.

Sadhana G

Went to this beautiful place for brunch on a Sunday. The food was a whole new level of excitement! Presentation and quality of the food and the good ambience set the right tone for the weekend. But the only setback was the price. We had an Egg frittata, chicken and waffles and Egg Benedict-crab ( the chef special) and it cost us 70$. A great place to grab finger food in a cute setting !

J
James Wang

Heard about this cool restaurant that had a "tree" inside of it. Unfortunately, that tree is no longer there, but it offers an assortment of American dishes and brunch options. Dinner can be pricier, so we opted for brunch. Their fried chicken & waffles and parmesan truffle fries were delicious. I haven't had such flavorful truffle fries in a long time and this is a great spot for it. The space is very homey and reminiscent of a cafe. Around springtime, they decorated with lots of cherry blossoms and there was a cute swing outside for pictures. It took us a little bit to get seated as there was no host(ess) at the door, but once we got seated, the staff were very friendly.

Easy to find the place but parking will be tricky in the area. Give yourself some time to find it ahead of the reservation. It is good to have reservations, if not there will be accommodation for walk-ins during non-peak hours. Ambiance is nice, seats are well cushioned, tables heights are decent but atmosphere is slightly noisier. Staff and service is excellent. Food is decent, the taste won’t wow you but cooking methods and attention to details is good definitely noticeable. Overall it will leave you satisfied. Breakfast menu will be available earlier in the morning. Brunch tentatively starts around 10-10.30am. Signature cocktail are decent but Great-great coffee. Everything on the morning fuel is excellent. I liked the espresso martini the most. Brioche French toast toast nice but I was slightly surprised by the value proposition of this dish. Corned beef hash, firefly burger, eggs Benedict, all are nice. I really liked the way they cooked eggs to perfection in Benedict. Sides are good. A good experience overall but only coffee will drive me to visit it again.

M
Mary Terino

I have only ever had breakfast here, but it is consistently good. They put an emphasis on fresh ingredients and a changing menu. The staff works their butts off and are always so sweet. Service can be a little slow but That’s the kitchen. The decor is cool. I really like the rustic feel with a modern twist. I will someday try a meal other than breakfast, but I usually get in late and have eaten on the way. If you’re going for breakfast I highly recommend the french toast. It is my favorite but I can’t eat it every time because it is decadent. The eggs are great too. It’s usually not too crowded in the mornings. I think you’ll like it.

Great food, but the service was lacking. Came here for brunch with some friends. The restaurant was bustling but not overcrowded. Complementary pound cake and rolls were quickly delivered to our table. Solid brunch menu with vegetarian options. Server seemed friendly, but had to be asked to refill our water and sometimes we he would only fill half of the waters and would not come back to fill the rest. Took a while to deliver our drinks and complained that he didn’t have time to divide up the check between 3 cards. There were plenty of empty tables :/ While our meal was tasty, we will likely not come back due to the service.

N
Nouf Ghamdi

I went there with my friend for brunch. The place is lovely, the food was AMAZING, and prices were kinda reasonable. However, we were waiting for almost 10mins and nobody showed up to welcome us or show us our table. Yes, we didn’t reserve a table, but there was an empty table where we later on used. The service later got better, and for sure we will visit the place again.

A
Anna O

I had no idea where my friend was taking me, but she was raving about the brunches. We sat down for dinner and were eager to try a few dishes to share. We were greeted with freshly baked warm bread and whipped homemade butter. We ordered truffle fries and beet salad as starters, haloumi shakshooka and za'atr baked chickpeas and quinoa. Everything was delicious and we had a good time splurging. At one point we couldn't wait to start so the photos don't do the restaurant justice... sorry, not sorry.

Risotto is must try.. We ended up here before a pregame party. My husband love burgers and his love for burgers brought us here. He said that the burger was nice. Beef was well cooked, light and the fries were amazing. Looked like he was enjoying his burger. They have wine tasting menu as well. Risotto was very well cooked and flavorful. It’s one of the best risotto I ever had. Visit the place when you are around DuPont.

C
Chioma Okafor

Pros: Great service and very cute interior! Cons: the brunch menu was quite limited, the food was also quite basic unfortunately and lacked flavor. We got the corned beef hash which was a bit smaller than expected for $24 and the veggie omelet. Unfortunately the meals were nothing special. Might be a good sport to grab a quick drink at the bar but food wise..not impressed.

Solid American brunch spot located in the lowest level of Hotel Madera. I visited Firefly on a chilly December Saturday morning, and I loved how cozy the restaurant was, especially with their gorgeous Christmas tree right next to the entrance and other fun holiday decor! My friend and I were seated at a nice two-top near the back, and started our meal off with two black coffees, a critical start to any DC breakfast. He ordered the eggs benedict, and I got their egg white frittata. The portions were quite large and could easily each be two light-ish meals. He enjoyed his eggs benedict, which also came with a side of fried potatoes, and I thought the frittata was quite tasty, with plenty of sliced mushrooms and spinach. I also enjoyed the small side salad that accompanied the frittata, which was a welcome pop of freshness against all the eggs. All in all, Firefly is a great spot for a very basic American brunch; they have all the classic dishes, the service is great, and the space is cute -- all-around, a solid DC brunch.

I would say this place is just ok. My omelette wasn’t great my mom’s is so much better. My husband had salmon bagel which was just ok to him. Price is on the pricier end but not terrible. Cute place I think you’re paying for aesthetic

E
Elena Anderson

I used to love this place but they changed their menu recently and there were some things that I did not like. For instance, the Shrimp and Grits were very disappointing. It was very soupy in texture and in taste. I really missed the fried oysters. But I liked the fish tacos and the hummus platter. Also, there are still some good drink options. The staff is still friendly and there's a good ambiance to the place.

C
Chips Ahoy Me

Its ok. But pricey. Food can be better. Wanted to see what the rave was about. It was meh....got chicken and waffles gorthe family. Not even the kids where fond of the waffles and the pieces of chicken strips were like spicy Buffalo flavored. And the syrup just get Aunt Jemima

Part of the hotel. Very pretty and smells great. However, the food has gone downhill. Good service though

K

Awful food. We came to this restaurant for dinner during the first night of our DC trip. The restaurant is located at the Madera Hotel. Pros; Server was nice and accommodating. Cons: Food was not up to par. A member of our dinner party ordered lemonade & he could not drink it. How can you mess up lemonade. Also it wasn’t cheap for the quality of food. We didn’t go back during our week in DC.

A
Andrew Puckett

I was lured in by the pictures of the chicken and waffles and the rave reviews about the French toast. Neither were on the menu. The menu honestly was really sad and pathetic. I ordered a western omelet which was good but not $16 good. There wasn't even an option of which kind of toast. Just plain white bread.

T
TG MY

I really like the atmosphere and service. I also enjoyed the food very much; however, the other day (Sat, 2Aug) I ordered a Caesar salad w/chicken to-go around 1915. Upon arriving home, I looked at the salad and the portion was rather small for a dinner salad, the chicken was overcooked, and the lettuce looked off (wilted and something was amiss). I woke up at 1300 and 1500 the next morning and needless to say, my stomach was very upset and I fell ill. I would dine here again, as I like the place and jist wouldn't order the salad(s) anymore.

M
Mackenzie Christopher

I had stayed at the connecting hotel once before and had a wonderful expirence with a group, that I decided to bring a friend for a weekend. Unfortunately this expirence was really bad. We wanted to share truffle fries and a some drinks before going out. While we were in the bar the only other people in there was a small family. Once we sat down it took about 15 minutes for someone to even bring us menus. It then took another 10 for someone to come take our order. Then we spent the whole night witnessing the staff bring the wrong food to the family’s table and coming over and apologizing to them offering them free food over and over and free drinks over and over. We then saw them take our fries to the family’s table and when the family said they did not order them they took the fries back and brought the exact some plate to our table. We got the fries cold and politely asked if they didn’t mind giving us fresh ones. The waiters rolled her eyes at our request and took the plate away. They must have heated them under a lamp or threw them in the microwave because when they brought them back we had the exact same dirty ketchup and a half full dish of fries. Once again the family was being offered anything to make up for the few mistakes and they comped all the drinks that the family ordered and we had to keep flagging down any server just to have someone come over to attend to us at all. At the end the family leaned over and asked if they comped anything for us because they noticed how we were being treated all night and when we told them no they were completely shocked.

J
Jamie Irish

The food was sub par, Ribeye is so small and not a great cut of meat, shrimp&grits was COLD! and the drink pours were not generous. For the price, this place is NOT worth it! Servers were nice but expected us to grab the plates, we want to be served at a nice restaurant not be at a buffet or picnic.

J
Jonathan Nickel

Worst decision ever. Took my girlfriend here for her birthday. Wrote in the reservation and told the hostess it was her birthday. Received ZERO acknowledgement the entire meal. Another couple showed up twenty minutes after us for a birthday and was told happy birthday several times, was brought a birthday cupcake, and had charges removed from their check. We told our waitress we had a time table to adhere to. Not only was that neglected, but the couple next to us, as well as another couple who showed up 40 MINUTES LATER received their food before us and the gentleman next to us ORDERED THE SAME THING AS MY GIRLFRIEND!!! I tried to explain the situation to Christopher, the manager, who was very apologetic and told us our main courses have been covered. It is a good thing he did, because I would never pay for the garbage we received. This is by far the worst dinning experience I have ever had and it wasn't even my birthday. I am eager to hear the response the restaurant has for this neglect of service and courtousy. I advise no one to depend on this restaurant. They will drop the ball. I will never be back, that's for sure.
